last night i had a dream that i was playing minecraft and i noticed i had 77 blocks of cobblestone in one slot instead of it being capped at 64 and it was so jarring to me that it literally booted me out of the dream. like sure you can fly now and your childhood home is a pharmacy but 77 pieces of cobblestone? unthinkable. wake the fuck up.

Hey, writers of tumblr. I'm thinking about putting together a self-study course/ebook type thing on how to edit, intended for new/aspiring authors and those looking to prep their work for self-publishing.
For context: I currently do most of my freelance work through an agency that positions itself as an industry leader for author services (make of that what you will) and I get a lot of quote requests from folks who know their work needs editing, but have little idea where to start or what to expect. Frequently, either cost is a barrier to entry for them, or I find I'm having to correct or explain the same issues to a lot of clients.
I'd like to put something out on a pay-what-you-want basis that covers the most common issues I see in manuscripts. I'm thinking topics like basic grammar and formatting (especially for ESL writers and those working with translators), POV and perspective issues, filtering, pacing, rhythm & flow, dialogue, and a primer on techniques for self-editing your work prior to submission, pre-production, or sharing it in general.
Is this something you'd be interested in? What other kinds of topics would you like to see? What format(s) would you prefer?

interesting thing about multiples of nine
i want to start all of this by saying i do not know many math terms. this was just something i found out for fun and would love to share it with random internet people. are line breaks affective?
first is something classic: multiples of nine climb down in the ones position and up in the tens positions.
one thing i found interesting was nine times the numbers one through ten. the digits that make up the answer can be added to be nine.
ex: 9x8=72 7+2=9
this applies all the way to 10 but when we get to 11 something interesting happens. 11x9=99 just looking at that you can tell that it does not equal 9, but 18 which is 9x2, but 9x12=108 which does equal 9
which got me curious on which numbers does this apply to so i looked at every multiples of nine (out of whole numbers) up to 50 and came away with this.
whatever digit is in the tens place or less will be the one where it would be 18. (i am so sorry that i dont know the terms)
ex: 33x9=297 2+9+7= 18 //// 34x9=306 3+0+6=9
so basically 89 is the last factor that you can multiply by nine and still have the answer be added to nine. (besides 9 times a multiple of ten)
so 89x9=801 anything below 801 can be added together to see if it is divisible by nine and still get a whole number.
i am going to ask google to give me five numbers between 90-801 to see if this actually works.
first:194 1+9+4=14 not a whole number when divisible by nine
answer;194/9=21.56
second;306 6+3=9 yes divisible by 9 and the digit in the ones place of the answer is more than the tens
answer;306/9= 34
third:569 5+6+9=20 not a whole number when divisible by nine
answer;569/9=63.2
forth;330 3+3=6 not a whole number when divisible by nine
answer;330/9=36.67
fifth;378 3+7+8=18 yes divisible by 9 and the digit in the one's place is either less or the same as the one in the tens
answer:378/9=42
So it does work! I tried to do even bigger numbers past 801, but couldn't find a pattern there. There might be one, but I'm not sure yet.
congrats on a random fact about nine. it's not even my favorite number or that i like math... i just dont want to do my lit hw... and had a huge headache during class

do you ever think about the fact that throughout the entirety of stranger things we’ve always seen mike practically shout his love for will from the rooftops by throwing his everything into believing, protecting, and helping will no matter the stakes, and how a majority of byler moments are initiated by him, and how will has always loved him back quietly despite being the one canonically confirmed to be in love, and how will is almost always on the viewer’s right in iconic byler moments but in season four we find him on the left in what used to be mike’s spot because their “roles” have switched AND when we’re taken out of the viewer’s pov and put in jonathan’s pov we see jonathan Come To A Realization here because while mike has always made it clear how special will is to him and how different their relationship is, will has always managed to keep the true depth of his feelings a little closer to his chest and it’s only when he publicly takes up that support role that mike has played for him previously that the audience is purposely made to realize, too, how romantic it truly is, because coming from mike everyone might have thought it was his usual overzealous theatrics but when the same tenderness and earnest love comes from will they realize oh. this is... this is actually something more. this is how they are this is mike and will like nothing has changed and no time has passed but it’s now that we realize just what it is, and now that will is starting to slowly but surely come out from this curtain he’s hid behind his whole life and voice that yes he loves mike of course he does he’s always loved him and loves him in precisely the way that mike expresses he needs to be loved there is simply NO conceivable way that they can come out of this hellish slow burn miscommunication trope not in full acknowledgement and eager acceptance of this love they have for each other and have always had and always will !!!!!!!!
