First Sunday
First time. Sunday. A time for rest. So, this post is very short. I was thinking about a quiet photograph, but then I thought maybe I should share some history, so I did. This is the very first image from my very first Mardi Gras. It is almost exactly as I saw the scene, swirling masses of color, people and floats everywhere. Enjoy it. Happy Sunday.

Part V: Visit to Miho Shrine on Miho Peninsula in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan | 静岡県・三保半島にある「神の道」
In this short 60-second video, as we continue our journey along the Path of the Gods (kami-no-michi/神の道), we find ourselves captivated by the ethereal beauty of ancient pine trees that unfurl before our eyes. This boardwalk weaves its way through these magnificent trees, linking the revered pine grove (Miho-no-Matsubara/三保松原) with the sacred Miho Shrine. As we tread upon the boardwalk that protects the roots of the trees, our senses are heightened, immersed in the serenity of the same path used by the Gods as told in local legends.
Amidst this tranquility, our gaze is drawn to a magnificent sight—a majestic old pine tree that bears the profound marks of time as it twists and bends sculpted by the relentless onslaught of torrential winds and typhoons that batter the Japanese shores year after year.
For a more immersive experience, I invite you to explore my accompanying blog post. There, you will find an array of photos, complemented by convenient Google Maps links leading to each photo location. Immerse yourself in the rich historical contextas I share intriguing anecdotes and captivating details. Additionally, you'll discover references for further reading, allowing you to delve deeper into the traditional world captured in this photo shoot.
