Finally getting some work done on my challenge OC this week. Or one of them at least.

This is Ecto, a blind batfolk who lives on the Far Side with his twin, Alba. They reside on a Terra known as Stringhold, named for the city-sized arachnoid nest that takes up a good portion of its forests and cave system.

@far-side-skies here's Palmira! She is the loyal handmaid of Princess Sansa and does everything in her power to keep the original first heiress safe and entertained. Encouraging her to learn politics and strategies to be a help to the empire and get the upper hand on her enemies. Her and Fox often butt heads over the teaching they are granting Sansa. Palmira is very by the book and a worry want, just wanting the best for her friend. Sorry for the lack of info, Uni has been busy. Hope ya like her!

this months oc! finally! i had the sketch done for a while but it took me a while to have the time and energy to color her and finish her. for @far-side-skies monthly challenge i present Rica Whitemane. the wife of Whitemane the leader of clan Whitemane for my dawnrunnner fan species. Rica is a melanistic Dawnrunner making all of her fur and scales black. In dawnrunner culture this is bad as they, as the name implies, are linked to the dawn and the sun. they shun darkness. conversely, an albino is considered a divine gift. but they are so revered that it is frowned upon to look at them directly. Whitemane built his clan for the shunned melanistic like his wife and the lonely albino. their clan's territory is terra merbia and the other prides and clans leave them alone because of this. Rica suffered a lot of abuse from her Pride before Whitemane found her. most of her scars as well as her broke horn are the remnants of that abuse and she is small and meek for a dawnrunner (small as in only 6'5") Rica's only saving grace that kept her from her Pride completely abandoning her as a yearling was the other genetic mutation she carries. she has the Lighthorn trait, which makes her horns white instead of dark like the majority of Dawnrunners.

Rica has a very sweet and quiet disposition and she loves Whitemane and their daughter Echo with all her heart.

Enter stage left, Blood Shrike, the legacy of House Chanthara, ‘loyal’ servant to the Empire of Cyclonia, and this month’s entry into @far-side-skies’s bird OC challenge!

Third-eldest of the Cyclonian Elites, Blood Shrike primarily heads the Crystal Weaponry and Development sector for the empire’s war effort. It is better to die in a battle against Cyclonia, lest you survive as a prisoner-turned-lab rat for their experiments.

Ironically years beforehand, Blood Shrike and their siblings were test subjects for a study surrounding cures for Binding Sickness. As the sole survivor they left with crystals in their blood and back, and a heavy grudge against those with a natural attunement to the Binding.

Needless to say they do not take kindly to Emperor Cyclonis, who wears a crystal that Blood Shrike recognises all too well from the labs.

P.S: don’t get too close to them. those claws are Sharp.

had a lot going on this month and really didn’t have a lot of time to sit down and finish any of my wips but here’s my entry for @far-side-skies oc challenge.

meet Austry Dieder

he’s a cyclonian talon and the same age as the Dark Ace (so however old you think he is, i usually put him around 28)

Austry is a nobody talon with friends in high places.

being the youngest recruits at the time, he and Dark Ace spent a lot of their early years in cyclonia together. As much as Dark Ace tried to be a grump and push Ausrty away. the charismatic green haired talon eventually won him over.

speaking of charisma, he is often sent off terra to set up relations and outposts with neighboring and allied terras. He is often stations for weeks to months away from home. though he rarely stays the full time. often putting in for an early transfer.

why?

because he has an odd knack for getting himself engaged. whether it be from a miscommunication or a cultural trait he hadn’t picked up on, Austry manages to get himself engaged to many powerful men and women on the terras he’s visited. He’s been engaged 28 times.

thankfully his good friend the Dark Ace is in charge of his division and approves the transfer long before any wedding bells can ring.

I finally finished this at the last second. It didn't turn out the way I wanted but I think i've really improved at drawing with this one!

This is my entry for @far-side-skies Storm Hawks OC challenge for December. Based on the Ardennaise chicken.

Name: Mercury Age: 28 Occupation: Wasteland Raider and Farside Cult Protector Terra: Originally Gale but currently the Wastelands and other abandoned Terras Personality: Strikingly cold and deadpan. She comes off as sarcastic and cynical. She sometimes tries to crack jokes but they don't land due to her delivery. In battle she can go from quiet and unaffected to a blaze of fury. She enjoys collecting little trinkets she finds in the wastelands.

Her backstory is below

Mercury was born with the power to cause any crystals close to her to go out of control when she's upset and fire off at their full potential. Her father was an ex Cyclonian hiding out on Terra Gale before it was taken over. Her mother, according to her father, died long ago. When she was eight, her father remarried a women on Gale and the two had a son. She became jealous however and killed her father by accident when her powers went haywire in an argument.

After her fathers death her step mother and the other people of the village treated her poorly. Fearing her as a killer and a danger to everyone around her. She soon ran away and ended up in a Cyclonian prison mine. After her powers caused a cave in and she was presumed dead, she wandered the Wastelands until she came across a large crystal beast. One of a handful of creatures tied to the Farside as she would later learn. Her powers caused the beast to flee and chip one of the crystals on its body. After running away with the crystal she bumps into a mysterious man. He plans to kill her but changes his mind after he watches her use the crystal, called a time stone, in her panic. He offers to take her to his home and teach her how to use her powers.

Her new mentor is part of a group of people living in the Wastelands who believe they are ancient descendants of the Farsiders who first came to Atmos. They follow the old ways before the storms of Atmos created the terras and claim that their original home was lost to the Wastelands.

They live in a large structure buried under the earth and keep their existence a secret. Their current goal is to find the original site where the living storms of Atmos were created and to find an ancient artificial creature called the Beast of Time and capture it. A Farside creation and the same creature Mercury ran into. The only other crystal beast known so far is rumored to live on Tropica and be under the control of the Cyclonian royal family.

Mercury is given training due to her powers and trains with her time stone to master it. She hunts the Wastelands for supplies and the time beast. Killing anyone unfortunate enough to come too close or carrying something valuable.

She uses a crude scythe designed to withstand large amounts of crystal energy. Her time crystal allows her to slow time down for a little bit within a radius of a few meters and to see potential actions her enemies will take. With her attire keeping her hidden she often appears like a deadly ghost in the Wastelands. Giving her the nickname The Grim Reaper by the few survivors who've seen her.

Name: Kosey (Ko-see) 

Occupation: Stealth Ops

Home Terra: Terra Shezmu

Backstory: Kosey comes from a small family who work as scavengers and jewelry makers on Terra Shezmu. He was born without one of his arms, but he doesn’t let it hold him back.  

Kosey left his family once he became 16 to join a small pack of other male vampires. It’s common for young males to form bachelor packs when they come of age to go out and find mates but for Kosey, he just wanted to get off the terra and explore the world. 

His small pack did venture out but he didn’t find the adventures he really wanted to, instead he was roped into stealing and vandalism along with fighting against other packs. These experiences have left him a bit skittish and socially awkward. 

It isn’t until one fateful day does his world change. His pack leader, Amon, has targeted another young male and his mate, intent on stealing her away but they all learn she won’t be coming without a fight. 

She throws them around with her telekinesis, even breaking Amon’s limbs before letting him fall to the ground in a heap, growling and vowing to do worse if they don’t leave them alone. 

His packmates run off with their tails between their legs but he stays behind, watching in awe. He’d never seen a power like that, and even more than that, he’d never seen that kind of loyalty. He runs out of the bushes and begs them to let him join them, promising to be useful. 

The female, known as Xaria, finds his begging rather amusing and decides to let him join, since they’re always open to fellow misfits. Now a part of the unofficial squadron known as The Magpies, Kosey’s found the place where he truly belongs.

Name: Hirundo Progne

Age: 18

Terra: Coriolis

Occupation: Crystal technician but aspirating squadron member

Living in the most rural area of Terra Coriolis (Freshets Highlands) it’s hard to get crystal technology working properly, so Hirundo’s family take care of electricity systems based on crystal. They are Atmos’ electricians.

Hirundo works along with her parents, uncles, aunts, cousins and 5 siblings but are based on Velum, the “capital” of Freshets Highlands, where the population has a really particular ethnic identity that is different from the rest of Coriolis.

She loves her work and even if she’s not interested in crystal magic itself, she loves the technical aspects of electricity that crystals produce. But she also wants to form a squadron along with her friend Roc and his friends Garuda and Anqa. Only time will tell if this happens or if their lives will make them walk apart, because all of them need to work to sustain their families and the leaders of Coriolis aren’t interested in Freshet.

Reintroducing my old Storm Hawks OC, Captain Rosin, for @far-side-skies challenge! An osprey was so fitting for him, it was the perfect opportunity to push his design.

Species : Skog

Occupation: Captain of the Nightingales.

Age: Early 40's.

Skogs in Atmos are a race wrapped in ambiguity and mystery; keeping to their own, a quiet lot, have a habit for lurking, and becoming livelier only when the sun goes down. These traits haven't gained them a very friendly reputation and work can sometimes be hard to find, but o'l Roisin found opportunity in this misfortune. Gathering his most trusted companions, be formed a crew and marketed themselves as the most skilled professional carriers of precious relics, artifacts, and treasures for high paying customers of Atmos. Who better to transport the rarest, most coveted, most "steal-able" of crystals and baubles than the masters of stealth themselves? Although they refuse to do business with a certain empire...

Traveling only under the guise of darkness, Roisin and his all skog crew, except for the twilight crooner, Ichabod, in the hold, have seen just about all there is to see and the mere mention of their names keeps most Murk Raiders and challengers at bay. However, beneath Roisin's intimidating, wily facade, is the best crazy uncle you never knew you needed. He has a tender spot for children and like most other skog, has a deep love of music and storytelling. He values the lives of his crew and few others closest to him above all else. They're all he has left.

Finally yeeting together a rough sketch of this month's bird OC(s). I wound up using a pair of identical twins for this one.

Phobos and Deimos Avadat are the youngest children of two high-ranking Talons named Cepheus (deceased) and Cassieopeia Avadat. They've got three older sibilngs: Hamlet (deceased), Monsoon and Andromeda (deceased). By the time the show starts, both of them are in their 40s.

Phobos was a commander of Cyclonia's cavalry division, often at the frontlines riding a pegasus into the thick of battle. Until a skirmish with the Rebel Ducks went seriously wrong and left him scarred and disabled (the picture above is pre-injury as I'm trying to pin down his base appeareance) about a year or two before the return of the Storm Hawks. Instead of retiring outright, he applied to transfer to the beastkeeper division, and now spends his time caring for the pegasus ranks and Cyclonia's other bestial numbers (occucrows, trackbeasts, etc.). It's allowed for him to be able to spend more time with his partner and children, but has severely disappointed his mother. He no longer cares, and some part of him blames her and the pressure she put on him to excel in the Talon ranks on his previous inability to bond with his children.

Deimos is just as, if not more successful than his twin. He's the leader of one of Cyclonia's specialist squadrons, the Fog Howlers. They're a strike team and one of the major players in the invasion and subsequent takeover of Merbia. He's still going strong and working to rise even further up the ranks of the Talon army. Far less laid-back than Phobos, he is of the opinion that Cyclonia's royal family has run its course, and the Empire is due for a change in leadership chosen by the people. He's not the only person with this opinion, and this insurrectionist group is known as the Disciples. Their choice in new ruler? Dark Ace. Phobos and Deimos's nephew.

@far-side-skies Here’s Prairie! My character for April’s bird challenge!

Prairie is Gaven’s younger sister, raised on the hidden Terra or Terra Sky due to unforeseen circumstances, and is currently a witch in training. Very sweet and kind like her brother, but Prairie has a bit more spunk and rashness in her thank to her Uncle’s influence.

She’s also a Mama to a little girl named Mary! I wanted to draw her too for this month, but I couldn’t decide on a design.

The color palette was really fun, I hope you like her!

A Dawnrunner Fae hybrid for @far-side-skies bird challenge

Being part Fae, Alba does not have horns, which makes it difficult to judge his age.

Alba roams the far-side with another Dawnrunner named Toki.

He was a disciple of a Champion known as Gracelight, along with the entirety of his pride. He hated every second of the experience. He became a disgraced some years later when he refused to kill a syphon dawnrunner.

He escaped with his life, barely. Now he roams the far-side in search of disciples of Gracelight, killing all he finds.

fun little entry for @far-side-skies' bird oc challenge this month!

Anther Talon is renown amongst the ranks as one of the first and most successful Cyclonian assassins. Trained and a friend of Scimitar, he was given the codename "Kingfisher" to compliment the efficient manner in which he'd neutralise targets.

To the Atmosians, he does not exist, much in thanks to his distant methods of carrying out missions. With a success rate rivalling even Scimitar's, he is held in high regard by the Elites as a model worker and key agent in winning the war the dirty way.

Apparently, there's a rumour that he's on close terms with even Elite-General Snipe...but what would such an aloof agent of Scimitar be doing with someone as boisterous as him?

'LOCAL HERO WINS FIFTH CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP IN A ROW.

Gin Hawke for the Valip Punch, 08/04/21

Hettie Piera (47), pictured here at his day job as logistics officer for the Guardians of Pangaea, has won his fifth chess championship trophy in a grueling 13 hour match against the talented new up-and-comer Quin Dove (22). Held on the 4th of April, the event saw an immense turn out of die-hard fans and newcomers alike.

Born to a large family of crystal miners on the outskirts of Valip in 1974, Piera was drawn to chess as a means of escaping the rough and tumble of his six brothers and four sisters.

"I'd head to the school library during lunch to practice and read the chess books. I'd even go after school sometimes, when I knew my siblings would all be home. All they'd want to do would be to try to emulate the wrestlers they saw on the 'reels. I think Mum was actually glad that at least one of us preferred a quieter hobby."

Piera is a gracious victor. "Honestly, Quin nearly had me a few times. I reckon they're a shoe-in for the victory next year for sure." When asked if that meant he'd be retiring from the game, Piera merely touched a sly finger to his nose (broken when, after his second championship victory, a sour fan of his opponent broke through the barrier and assaulted him) and walked away.

Quin Dove declined an interview, saying it was "a hard match... I need time to recuperate." '
