Goals are great and without any discipline its really just a dream.  To make that Goal turn into a reality your going to need some discipline.  Most people set their Goals (New Years Resolutions) and are gung-ho about completing them 10 seconds after making them.  You get tired and it becomes too much work to sustain that level of effort.  Heres where a little discipline while creating mini habits comes into play.  
When mapping out a Goal, what are the landmarks that are going to need to be achieved to stay on track for the completion of the goal. If your completion is in a year then what will the landmarks look like at every 3 months.  What will you want to have completed at the end of each month? To have this done for each month what time will be taken each day, consistently, to achieve this?
Break down of your Goal Achieving Strategy (GAS) = 1 year (Goal) ~ Every 3 months (Landmarks/ Pace Reminders) ~ Each month (Flow of your goal) ~ Effort applied each day (20 mile march)
Without the discipline each day, your goal will fall farther and farther away which is why most people can't sustain a New Years Goal past February.   Too much effort without any habit= unachieved goal.  
Demolish a goal this year with Discipline, so your dreams become a reality.
