i was talking to my mom the other day about how butch hartman claims credit for so many things that weren't solely created by him, and i brought up the character design work that was done by stephen silver. i mentioned that he worked on kim possible and that these days now that i have a more well trained artist's eye i can see the similarities between the kim possible designs and the danny phantom art style - danny phantom is a bit more angular, among other things, of course. but i can tell it's by the same guy only NOW, after taking college classes on art analysis, and it's crazy that butch takes advantage of people not being able to see that. for so long the danny phantom art style has been called "butch hartman art style." and then my mom said that when we were first watching danny phantom back in the day she thought it was actually kim possible hgdsjfhkj so maybe less people think it's all butch than i thought

RC9GN Pilot got leaked lol

Actually super glad that the full pilot got leaked lol For those not familiar, a sample of the storyboards got posted online a few years back, so it's nice to see all the context wrapped up into one video:

There's a lot I want to say and compare, but finals are coming up, so might have to put a pin in that lol. Here's some of my first thoughts:

Most of the voice actors seem to be the same with the exception of Randy (and maybe Bash). Not a hundred percent confident, but I'm thinking that it might be James Arnold Taylor (whose most well known for being Johnny Test)

I love the addition of Cranzky (I think that's how you spell it?) I just think the addition of not only more villains (also women ones) would've been neat.

Not a hundred percent confident on this, but I think the character designer for this might be Stephen Silver (Kim Possible, Danny Phantom) Most of the characters don't really fit his style, but eh way Viceroy was drawn makes him look straight out of Kim Possible haha

Stephen Silver's Character Design Roughs

Stephen Silver has worked on many shows from Danny Phantom, Fairly Oddparents, Kim Possible, and many more.

No, I'm not going to post any pics from the book because I don't want to be a spoiler, but I will give you insight on what's inside.

The book is composed of different character rough sketches of the shows Stephen worked on. He gives little notes of his work process, shapes, and etc. This is not your traditional 'The Art of' book, it won't go into heavy details of the show or characters, but you do see amazing concept art of your favorite characters. The way sketches are laid out are similiar to the cover: some are layered on top of another while others are spaced out giving you a good view of the artwork. I really enjoyed my copy, I still wish I could see more of Stephen's work, but I was still satisfied.

My favorite works in the book:

Concept art of a Rufus plushie eating a naco (it was a taco, but I'm gonna say naco), he looked so cute!

Danny's concept art of him in a vest that gave me Marty Mcfly vibes (Danny's voice actor actual did voice Marty in the BTTF animated series).

Dan Phantom's (Dark Danny) concept art, he looked really cool.

Jazz's concept art.

The ghost trio sketch because they had a ton of personality in that pic.

Mystery Inc (Yes, Scooby Doo is in here too).

Nope, unfortunately not anything. Just a wealth of stuff about character design. You can tell how much he knows about the science of it. It's really well conveyed, to be perfectly honest. A great tool, I recommend getting it if you're into that kind of stuff.
