October 2019
Looking up the etymology of archaic words. The witches' dialogues in Macbeth are a gold mine when it comes to finding the nicest words... Thrice the brinded cat hath mew'd.
Kitchen stories: making the best Thai curry in a long time. Bread with butter and jam. Making my favourite pizza multiple times: capers, black olives, onions, mushrooms, peperoni and mozzarella.
Micha sending a cute, smiley picture of him eating deep dish pizza in Chicago.
A hedgehog crossing my path one night. I love the way they move.
Spending an evening with Andre at FLEX. Hanging out on the big black sofa in the corner. Cuddling, my head in his lap. He's got really soft forearms.
Touching my own forehead really lightly and slowly with one finger when I have my eyes closed. And yeah, touching other people's foreheads and forearms. I'm weird like that.
Reading a picture book. The sound of turning pages (really nice, thick paper), looking at all the detailed illustrations.
Playing board games with Frank in his kitchen. Movie nights on his sofa.
Buying a Ficus Lyrata at Pflanzen Ries. Managing to get it home in an IKEA bag dangling from my handlebar. I actually have a favourite lady at the garden centre now. We sometimes chat when she doesn't have too much going on.
Lying in bed when it feels sooo good.
Going sailing with the students in the Netherlands. I loved staying up late with Lauritz, Stina and Leoni. Playing stupid drinking games. The view, the air, the sun. Chatting with Dutch seamen. Playing semi-violent bell games. Our day on Texel was my favourite. I took off my shoes to walk into the sea, took pictures with the girls. I actually saw real dunes for the first time, I think. We had rented bikes to ride to the Ecomare, a shelter for ill/hurt sea animals, mainly seals. Later we walked through Den Burg, a beautiful little town on the island. I got a midnight blue velvet pencil case. Best souvenir.
The STEK concept store on Texel island blew me away. Such a pretty interior and amazing offers. Posters, flower pots, rare plants. I finally found a Begonia Maculata cutting - for just a few bucks! And I managed to bring it with me to Germany safely.
Thornhill by Pam Smy - a gorgeous graphic novel.
Returning to yoga class with Lucy. I'm incredibly out of shape and too heavy for a shoulder stand at the moment but I'm willing to work on it.
The big grey cat I startled the other night. He climbed up the tree in front of our house and it took him forever to come down again. The next morning I saw him sitting in front of the entrance again. Catspotting ist the best.
Building a giant Twister game with Yanic for Lena's and Christian's wedding.
Writing the seating chart on a black board with chalk markers.
Getting a space-themed 'maid of honor' dress.
Buying whole bags of flowers with Lena one day before the wedding. Accidentally making the shop assistant think we were the actual couple.
And yeah, the actual wedding. I was stressed out of my mind that weekend but obviously there were some amazing moments. Secretly taking a picture of the couple holding hands on the car ride to the ceremony. Being the hostess and in charge of the games made me anxious but honestly, it was fun, too. Well, maybe not the speech, but the rest. I had a good time with Tobi, Maike and Barbara. And Matthias. That man. Oh my. I've never met a more fascinating guy before. I LOVE talking to him. Dancing with him. Just staring into his handsome happy face.
Drinking hazelnut schnapps with Michi at Oktoberfest.
Making Kaspressknödel.
Buying a new Dieffenbachia on my way home from school. I just needed a treat.
Cheese fondue and tapas night with Barbara, Maike and Lena.
Reading The Testaments by Margaret Atwood on the subway one morning when I discovered that the man across from me was reading The Handmaid's Tale. I LOVE coincidences like that.
One of the last really warm and sunny days of the year. Walking through the Nymphenburg castle grounds with Lena. Discovering the lake and the Amalienburg. Walking along the castle wall, chasing the geese in the orchard.
The last scoop of lemon ice-cream before the ice-cream parlours close for this year.
Playing Monarchies of Mau with Steffen, Sophia, Em and Maggie. It was my first time joining a pen and paper round. So many (un)intended puns, lots of mystery and fun. In the end we even ordered pizza from downstairs.
Going on a little hike with a llama/alpaka herd - a birthday present from Lena and Christian. My alpaka was a real hillbilly - some straw hanging out his mouth, constantly touching the others' butts with his snouts... but he made the cutest little blök-sounds and he's sooo fluffy.
The Bitchface paintings at artMUC.
Drawing a jungle picture for the sixth-graders. It turned out so good and I had very much fun drawing it.
Autumn putting a colour gradient on the wine leaves growing up the walls at school.
The book A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara. Finishing it (it's very good but it's got more than 1000 pages...)
All the plant cuttings turning my apartment into a jungle.
Halloween: Frank's Jesus costume. Dressing up as a dead Goth Barbie with incredibly long soft pink hair. Seeing my first Burlesque show in Germany with Andre, Margit and her friends (who wore wrestler costumes, so cool). The woman in androgynous clothing won my heart. And I met a student's mum there. Making out with Andre here and there. Past midnight pizza snack across the street from Beverly Kills.
Making a really cute and kissy GIF with some Halloween snapshots.

The Northman Pt 12
(Holy shit. Seems I'm only good at writing when I'm pissed on red wine. Omg it's 6am and I'm still drunk. Anyway, here's. .something or other. An inquisitive beast asks the hard questions whilst meandering between limbs of oak, nonchalant meandering between the knotted oak limbs. Bjarke cared little and indulged this what accompanied his travels and occupied many senses apart from sight. Low dulcet notes of the horns of war resonated within it's hard speech, twisted gutteral words not of this land. The relentless low slung sun had stared the norscan in the face til it cowered behind low pitiful hills of Albion. "D'yae fear death?" Low and from behind, the voice clipped at his heels with scents of torn leaves, floral and grassy spearing the air. Something tears up the path behind Bjarke; laying waste as if breaking lines of defence of nature with callous sentiment. "No. I fear dyin'." The difference between death and dying played in his mind like a thousand blades crashing into a perfect serenity of a lake; the dichotomy of chaos and awareness. Each day was a gift of life to Bjarke, precious and fleeting. "When yer deed yer deed, nae deff'rence." The beast forced the norscan to feel the words bite hard through his steel chain into his flesh through to bone; cutting a hard line into his beliefs "Y'can die long after you're dead when you're forgotten." Bjarke retorted. flashing the slightest of smiles across his face as he remembered a fallen brother and wished him well in Niflheim, slowing to a halt in his pace. "Some never lived, not known nor spoken about. Guess some are 'oreyt wi' it". To the skies and stars he gazed and chose a star, naming it wordlessly Thorston, carving it into his memory of the map of night sky. "An' me?" It said, close enough to hear the soft hustle of breath rasp against his neck. "I may as well be talkin' to me 'sen, cus if you're a person I'm bloody surprised." The norscan stopped and turn upon heel to look behind him, seeing nothing but the path taken before facing the right way and continuing his march. His mind drew the creature in his mind, reshaping it with new sights and senses. He had long given up on reason and remedy, he was no tactician or healer; just a blunt instrument. Earth gave way, soft and worn as hard road turned to mud; ground by a thousand heavy bootsteps. Lines drawn in the sides of the steps spoke of long shields, the taste of resin smoke.. the crackle and spit of northern wood led him to his people. The bonds of spilled blood to Bjarke felt stronger than shared blood. To the shield wall where he first met Hanson acting as his flank defence as an amateur to following the command of Rusty in battle, then to act as Editha's shield and sword. Fire stirred within him, spit overflowed from the sides of his tongue twisting his face into one which faces the abyss with insults of it's mother and lineage. "Ye's a scareh bahstahd wh ye smahls Bjarke.. a creepy fucken cunt." The beast spat out, well out of reach of the Norscan and his swords. Bjarke didn't realise he was grinning with reckless endeavour as if that which existed as physical resistant to his blade was simply another point of destruction. With each step forward Bjarke's world became a target rich environment. "Are ye even lah'sten a daff bahsted?" It tried to read but Bjarke was already intoxicated by the drums of war; the beat that his heart pounded hard enough to make his chest feel like exploding. This was living, this was life; 'more than the demon that followed could know' so the Norscan thought. Three blows; two to the body and one to the throat hit Bjarke hard enough to stagger, but not slow. His pace continued, receiving four more to his his legs prompting him to raise his arm with one sword; parry, reposte, strike to the face, deflect til an opening... wait... there take it, take it now! The beast growled at the standing norscan who looked at it with eyes focused with the intent of death. "With me, or against me." The commands Bjarke barked, the only commands with unyeilding glaring eyes. Every muscle in his sword wielding arm tensed to absolute resolution. "We'll kill you. They'll kill you. I'll kill you." The Norscan's breath lifted his chest with every lungful as he stared the eyeless skull; formless and barbaric. "Leave. Anything from here is pain." Bjarke warned before sheaving his sword and continuing his march. "More than you can take, demon." He exhaled, tilting his head and looking at the star he had named his brother. "More than you can take." "Pain. Ha. HAAAAAAAAAA. Yeooo, an me Bee'arkay. Ahhreet wes gonna have eh lettle fun eh?" The laugh it gave was not of Albion or of Norsca but it was like Bjarke; just another blunt instrument. "Raaf, tha's ma name. Raaf! Ah'll feck ya betches an ye Ma'! Beeyaaarrrkey! Ah'm weh yuu an' ye Wolves! Ah'm gooanna stek we yous so show me death an show me pain!" It laughed hard enough to silence nature, unnatural guttural laughter laced with psychopathy. "Ah'l feck ya shita up! Ye got a clan in the Wolves Beeaarrkay?" "I do. But what's the point. They took me in.. A man of no lineage or land. Wolves, just Wolves till t'fifth blade goes through me." "Fifth? Bit much aye? Full a'f ya'self Bjarke?" "No. I'm just 'ard as fuck". Thick hot air exhaled through his nose, hard white curls. "12 days from now, we hit t'war 'ost. Get thissen ready". "Ah was feckin born ready" The wicked laugh of the beast called Raaf echoed through the trees, though Bjarke would hear nothing but his own breath and heartbeat as the call of the Wolves beckoned, leaving him to grin like a man possessed. "I bring steel" Muttered Bjarke. "I bring chain. I bring demons and I bring pain". Like a tapestry of dawn the first light of camp fires on the brink of horizon awakened a thirst for mead and blood. "12 days Raaf, 12 fucking days. Y'hear?"

Orduun Stories: Chapter 2 "Friends"
Last time Orduun met a centaur and followed her to recover his axe. Now they’re arriving to her camp, there he’ll meet some of her friends.
The figures that were sitting around a dying fire turned around to see the new arrival. Two humans, a big male and a kind of small female, and a goblin, or at least it smelled like he was, but it had no hair compared to the ones he had seen. “Woah, at last the big boy has got up, huh?” said the goblin, “Tell me, how’s it being tested by the Izzet? What did they do to you? Did they put some instruments in your ears or nose?” “Knock it off Stek, I think he’s not from here. He doesn’t know us, the Gruul” said the centaur. “WHAT?!” he yelled. “How can he not know about us? He must be lying Keatora, it’s impossible!” “Maybe he actually is not from here” said the big human, with a slow rhythm. “But the Gruul are known in all the districts. He CAN’T have never heard of us” responded Stek. “Well, it’s painful to agree with Krosh but I think he might not be from here. Which arises the question, where is he from?” said the small human. “Sorry to interrupt you but… What’s an Izzet?” asked Orduun. “Now there’s no trace of doubt” said her. “You’re far away from home, aren’t you? My name’s Nel, they’re Keatora, Krosh and Stek” said pointing to each one as she said their names, “what’s yours?” “I’m Orduun, pleased to meat you" he answered. “If it’s not too much to ask, how did I get here?” “You just kind of appeared from nowhere” said Keatora. “Yes, yes, there was nothing and then poof you appeared” added Stek, “that’s why we thought you were an Izzet test dummy.” “The thing is” began Nel “it’s clear you don’t know anything about the Izzet nor the Gruul, but you don’t seem to have a complete amnesia. What’s the last thing you remember?” “Well, I was fighting a dragon from…” he stopped. “From where?” inquired Nel. “I don’t believe you know that name, but it was from Jund” he explained. “What’s Jund?” asked Krosh. “Well, it’s kind of complicated but…” Orduun began to explain. “Wait, wait, wait” cut Kaetora “that’s quite an specific name and he didn’t stutter or think for too long Nel. He’s saying the truth?” “It seems so” she answered “and that’s a name I know for sure I haven’t heard anywhere.” Kaetora began searching around the camp, moving lots of pieces of armor and rusted weapons. “Here it is!” said while pulling a good looking axe from the scrap. She gave the axe to Orduun. “I think this is yours.” “Thank you” said Orduun, “this means a lot to me.” “Now, tell us, where do you come from?” asked Nel. And Orduun began explaining what was his home like. At first the group was hesitant to believe, but as histories went on, they began to see that that was too much to be imagining from scratch. Lastly, he explained the battle with the dragon and what he felt afterwards. “Well, that explains why you arrived all wounded and that broken horn” said Stek. “Broken horn? What bro…” then Orduun realised his right horn had lost its end. “Oh no! This… This… Well I’ll have to get used to it” said resignated. Kaetora patted his back “It’s okay. It will be a sign of your resilience and a mark of a battle to be remembered.” “Yes, I suppose” he sighed. “And… What about here? Could you tell me more about this world?” And they began to explain the City to him. They talked until the sunset, prepared dinner and let Orduun sleep in the camp.
And that’s all for today. Hope you’re all having fun with this, and I’m open to hear any criticisms (the more constructive, the better). Stay tuned for more of his adventurss.

Lineup Lamentations - GW1
Our Transfers, Captains, Benches, and Starting 11s for the week.
WOW HOLY SHIT GW1 IS HERE!!!!!! OK let’s do it. Let’s just ship these lambs out there -- sorta feels like sending your child out to university... Here are our GW1 full squads:
WALSH
TRANSFERS:
OUT: N/A
IN: N/A
GK:
Alisson an actual Friday morning tinker in. My wife, my lovely wife, looked over at my computer screen and pointed to Ederson saying "I don't like this one.” Last time she did this was during fantasy world cup when she pointed to a one Robert Lewandowski. Naturally I ignored her, with a grin, thinking heh you're fucking dumb you don't even know the rules of football. Little did I know the joke was on me. Well, universe, I have rectified this situation. Alisson is in, will make more saves than Ederson anyway, and, freeing up a City spot for a potential attacker is a little bit cool. Idk.
DEF:
Am on the double pool with Robbo and aforementioned Alisson. Robbo doesn't need much explaining.
Mendy is in, another who hasn't left in a while.
Fat ass fuck Luke Shaw is in my team. I don't want to say much about it. Little bit of diversification and looking at my team I have 0 short term punts so seems I can afford one. It is cool to have the best left back in Europe according to his manager in my team anyway I think? Having a United defender is deece, but fucking hell Luke Shaw. Dunno how I got here. God help me.
MID:
Mo is in, obv.
Eriksen I have stood by through thick and thin. Looking forward to enjoying his steady stream of points.
Ozil I have also somehow managed to keep in through all the tinkering. In the end, he makes me happy. One of my favorite players in the world I just can't get enough of the mantis king. Very nervous about the opening two fixtures for him, but after that, should be smooth sailing. Really hope he just gets 1 assist in first 2 just to keep me calm. We'll see. Overall I just feel like he's going to have a quality season like old times, get assists, get baps, not get illnesses. One time.
Fourth guy is Jota. Had to have the soup of the day. Helder felt okay and I had him in for a while but in the end the downgrades in defense felt palatable in order to get me into the Jota / 6.5m midfield bracket. Expecting big things for the young lad Diogo this year.
FWD:
Kun is in. Love love love him.
Arnie is in. Love love love him.
Couple great guys just ready to get fantasy points. Really not a ton to say about the lads. Arnie despite bad fixtures I still expect to be in there with some goals hitting on the counter. Feels fine. Kun is Kun.
I have Aboobs Kamara in as third forward. The farthest thing from possible nailedness but could get a couple starts early doors...which is when I need him with bad couple Palace fixtures. He's been good in preseason so let's see if that can translate.
Very annoying with an attacker going against almost literally every one of my four clean sheet possibilities, but, sometimes that's how they line up. Low ceiling for GW1 here...but marathon not a sprint....right? Fack.
CAP:
Mo. Never in doubt.
BENCH:
Stek... Stek is whatever. Ownership is almost 5%..a bit high..but at least he's actually second choice on a somewhat good team which is more than can be said for the other 4.0 GKs.
4.5m midfield is actually a sinkhole of fuck this year. I spent more time than I usually do figuring out which to go for and the wheel has spun and landed on sir Phillip of house Billing. Very nervous about taking up a precious Huddersfield TOWN spot..lol..but he chipped in a couple assists in preseason and appears to have a spot until / unless he loses it. Not as if they have a stacked squad with much comp anywhere, so we'll see. He showed some flashes last season of some quality, so he's in. Really due to lack of another better option.
Last two guys for my bench this week are Sakho and Wannybiz. Dropped my love Patty van Aanholt down to Mom for money, but Mama will be solid. Bap machine should be a solid option for the first couple months as long as he doesn't die. Hopefully Wan keeps his spot and gets a couple price rises in the early going. Will probably not start him much but could see a couple games where I opt to throw 2x Palace defenders out there.
ALON
TRANSFERS:
OUT: N/A
IN: N/A
GK:
David de Gea.
I had him in last season from I thiiiink GW6 onwards and it was just the absolute best thing ever. Loads of cleans, loads of save points, and even some bonus points... Having a nailed top GK on the nailed biggest bus in the league driven by the world’s biggest bus merchant in the league seems good... Though I gotta admit paying 6m for GK feels a little disgusting...
United on the outside look kinda like a fucked up disaster mess but I’ll believe it when I see it. They’re still the second most expensive squad in the league by a large margin managed by Jose Mourinho. I think they’ll be fine...
On top of that I know that I probably will not want any United mids or fwds in my team looking ahead versus the opposite feeling for Liverpool / City mids and fwds which makes slotting DDG in ahead of Alisson / Ederson feel a little bit smarter there too.
DEF:
I’m a leftback fanatic. Completely love’em. Here we are then:
Mendy is in for me after being fit and positive in the community shield. There’s relatively no competition whatsoever for his starting place which feels amazing and even if there was Walker started basically every match when he was fit, doesn’t seem like Pep rotates fullbacks like Poch does... Love City for a ton of cleans again this season and if Mendy can replicate the form of his three starts last season then we can expect a lot of attacking intent to go alongside those cleans. Love it.
Robbo won the hearts over all Liverpool supporters (like me) last season by just being a complete psycho animal workrate beast while putting in great deliveries and defending well also. Best LB in the prem last season and I don’t think anybody in their right mind would dispute that... Liverpool defense was fantastic once VVD settled in and should be even better with a world class keeper in there too now. Robbo both put up terrific attacking stats and passing the eye-test with his crosses, overlaps, and scampers into the box. Been in my squad since day 1 and has not moved an inch.
Bavies was a late arrival as I shifted away from Bailly and then Smalling and then VVD to eventually land at Ben Davies... With Rose out rumors still flying and Poch’s complete and utter distaste for Danny I feel like Bavies is moving quite nicely towards locking down the spot as his own. As is, he didn’t play in the World Cup and was the guy last season... Spurs are kind of messy and have a lot of away fixtures but I feel like away Newc, away Man. United, away Watford are all pretty decent clean fixtures sprinkled in with home Fulham... When Bavies was regularly starting last season few defenders had more attacking intent. Sorta puntish but let’s get some huge double digit hauls Benny.
MID:
This week I’m rolling out 5 mids because I don’t really like the Palace fixture (Wan on my bench) for a cleansheet.
Salah has not moved since the first day of FPL opening. Easy pick there.
Ozil I waffled in and out of the side playing with Aubz, Mkhi, Laca, Rambo, etc etc because my love of Arsenal attack is very real... In the end Mkhi/Laca make each other not nailed, Rambo is still kinda knocked as usual but I have an eye on him, and Aubz I couldn’t lock down a team I felt good about with all three of Salah, Aubz, and Kun and Mo and Kun were nailed into my side. So here we are Ozil the god.. Hopefully Emery puts him in a good position to succeed and he can have a huge bounce-back year with a chip on his shoulder to waggle his cock in the faces of those racist German fucks.
Jota is almost beyond soup because we’re both so high on him and a ton of people have him in... It feels to me like we’re getting a really seriously good player here in Jota who is essentially OOP forward. He may not start centrally regularly - surely sometimes he will - but he’s also not a “wide winger” he’s very much a left sided forward or wide forward/striker so it’s still sort of out of position. Wolves should be pretty good and pretty fun and Jota is the main fucking man. At worst there are tons of dudes at 6.5 slot to pivot to.
Lucas Moura found his way into my team as I came off of the teet of Mkhi and Bernardo Silva I found the Brazilian butt of Lucas quite comforting... He’s just a good punt to take. He’s always had good attacking numbers, good underlying numbers, and Spurs are obviously a top 6 team... With Son off to the Asian Games after GW1 Lucas should have this spot nailed down for at least a month or so and with pretty good attacking fixtures I like the punt here a lot. It’s definitely a punt but there are a lot of guys to pivot to when the time comes and he’s a good player on a good team who is nailed. Ticks a lot of boxes.
Lastly gonna roll out Cairney this week. If I think it’s a bad fixture for a Palace clean then surely I feel better about starting Cairney then Wan-B this week... Cairney is a good guy, we expect him on pens, and Fulham -- while they have their problems defensively -- should be a pretty good team going forward. Better then a lot of people expect I think... Fulham also reinforced the midfield with two really good CDMs to play behind Cairney to let him just push forward and pull the strings which to me is really positive. 5.0 for what I expect to be a nailed #10 on a middleish quality attacking team... who knows Cairney may just be a starter for me for a lot of the season... Or he might be awful and Fulham might suck and then he’ll be on my bench :).
FWD:
Kun has not moved for ages. Unfortunately he braced in the community shield and his ownership went up like 20%... but still yeah. He’s great. Best City attacker to own by a lot for me.
And I settled on Arnie too. I went off Chaz, I flirted with Tosun and even King, but in the end I’m going Arnie. The stats are so good. And I love Pellegrini and some of the transfers of West Ham and mostly I love the new Arnie we saw last season. From the moment he was playing striker on, a new Arnie was born who even when he blanked looked an incredible, unstoppable force. Some bad fixtures and some good fixtures I reckon Arnie is a set and forget at this time. Go on Arnie.
CAP:
Duh.
BENCH:
4.0 keeper I spent almost no time thinking about I just went with Hamer because I don’t know Huddy only have two guys listed and Lossl isn’t that good and whatever....
Kamara is the obvious 4.5 forward. I don’t think he’ll start many if any games especially with Fulham also bringing in Vietto but Kamara came off of the bench 22 times last season for Fulham which is nice to see... So even when he does not start he seems to be the attacker of choice to be brought on to change a game / get a return. About as good as you can hope for for a 4.5 forward.
Wan-Bissaka excellent pick, should be starting 4.0 defender on a solid side.
And sleeper last guy on my bench this week Trent Alexander-fucking-Arnold the legend god... I got to a point in my team where I could afford to cover Trent with both Cairney/Wan-B for a week or two whatever he needs and then after that once he gets in -- and I expect Trent to start the majority of matches -- he’s a ludicrously good value pick at 5.0, arguably best value pick in the entire game. Let’s not forget when he’s on the pitch he’s not just a marauding RB on a top team who will keep lots of cleans but he’s also on a lot of corners, indirect FKs, AND direct FKs... Just great. And a local lad too. <33333 Trent.
GO ON BOYS!!!!
