A/N: This is my first headcanon so I hope you guys enjoy! Bad Bunny / Benito / Daddy Wolf stans better see this!

“Buenos días, cariña.” (Good morning, darling) he says in a low voice as he pecks your shoulder.

Your favorite accessory is a golden wolf necklace he got custom made just for you.

He is extremely possessive and protective. Wolf always loves to see you wear the necklace on nights out in the city to let everybody know that you’re his and you’re not to be fucked with.

Every time a man comes too close to you while you are out on the dance floor with your friends, Wolf will always stop whatever sketchy meeting he is having with his associates just to shove the man into the ground and kiss you passionately.

He gives you absolutely everything you want. He’d always say, “Te daré el mundo entero,” (I’d give you the whole world) when you ask him to simply buy you a drink.

He loves being very theatrical with his affections. After the first day you guys hooked up, you woke up to petals everywhere, a whole breakfast tray with a flower vase on it, and a note.

You can’t help but be completely smitten by this man with how he treats you like a queen despite being a cartel legend. Wolf feels that the way you treat him is heaven on earth and he would give his life to never see you get into harms way.

One night while you were leaving a romantic dinner at a five star restaurant, as you guys were getting into the car, a bullet grazed Wolf’s arm right as you got in. “HEAD DOWN NOW!” he screams to you as he rushes into the vehicle. The driver driving away quickly before any tires could get blown out.

You immediately start freaking out so you frantically rip off the whole lower part of your best dress to wrap it around Wolf’s wounded arm. He winces at the pain but he looks more nervous, shifting his head back and forth, looking at the surrounding cars. He doesn’t notice anyone following so he looks at you and strokes your head in relief, knowing that you are safe.

“Aye, mi vida, going to have to buy you a new dress. I’m also going to find out que hijueputa did this. Could’ve hit you.” He sulks while holding onto you tightly throughout the rest of the night.

While you get settled to sleep in his bed, you lay on his chest and trace his abs with your index finger, admiring them. His heart flutters and falls asleep with a smile on his face every time.

Sometimes, in the middle of the night, Wolf would grab you by waist and pull you closer to him just to whisper from behind, into your ear, “Quiero besarte por todas partes” (I want to kiss you all over). You can’t help but give yourself completely to him even in these unholy hours of the night.

I saw a post about racist Jasper stans bitching bc they’re not able to enjoy shitty J*sper content bc of tags or whatever lol and someone said: “What is there even to enjoy?”. I had to laugh and I thought if you bc it’s so true. Most Jasper content isn’t even that enjoyable. It’s mostly the same boring white-supremacist garbage that I’ve seen before; even the jalice stuff is played out.

The only J*sper content I enjoy is content where he is worshipping Maria, thinking about Maria, talking about Maria, loving Maria, doing anything for Maria tbh. Is that bad? XD I owe it to you and your writing! idk something about a 19/20 year old dumbass confederate falling madly in love with a native brown woman and literally seeing her as a god-like figure as she’s basically handing him his karma for his racist crimes sends me. Ppl act like he was this awesome person before Maria and that it’s her fault he’s gutter trash now with the C*llens but he was gutter trash BEFORE he met Maria. She honestly made him so much better, stronger and MUCH more interesting. She literally created the man these stans thirst over so much. She is the blueprint.

beyond that, María made Jasper into the man the fandom adores. you like that he's an empath? guess whose venom made him one. you like that he's a warmonger? guess whose war he fought for. you like that he has a troubled past? guess who put the trouble in it. you like that he's "soft" "empath" "baby" (tbh i don't see it but ok)? guess who made him want to be that way. you like that he's submissive to Alice? guess who broke him in first.

you want Jasper with Alice but wish the María era didn't exist? lol just say you want the hot faceless Confederate to get with the psychic Mississippian & go

as for me, MARÍA ALL DAY BAYBEEEEE

here we have a woman who has suffered all her life at the hands of colonizers. born "1800s or earlier," we can suppose she has firsthand experience with colonization (at least Napoleon's invasion) & lived through Mexico's War of Independence. i.e., she has a deep familiarity with what it means to have your way of life ripped from you by invaders. PLUS she was a victim of Benito's army in the Southern Vampire Wars; her entire coven including her mate was killed.

& despite her losses, she rallied to take back her land & drive out her oppressors. baseline, she is a strong, cunning, powerful indigenous woman with a deep love for her community and her people. HOT

now let's look at Jasper, a bright leader in the Civil War who suffered defeat at the hands of the Union army. yes, María changed him. but did she force him to stay? to go to war? the newborn vamp with the strength & speed to overcome a "grown" vamp chose not to do so. the empath with the power to make anyone disregard him chose not to use it. some say María was "abusive" & "manipulative," but few acknowledge that Jasper had a choice.

why didn't Jasper leave? because he's submissive to anyone more powerful than him. because he was a loser. because the Southern Vampire Wars gave him a second chance at victory. because "empath" or no, he wanted to play war & win.

that's what's compelling about Jasper/María. as wrong as Jasper was for fighting for the Confederacy, he believed he was fighting for the same thing as she. he saw his way of life destroyed by "invaders" & fought back. it's a sick & twisted parallel between oppressor & oppressed that becomes subverted as their relationship goes on... & one that can heal them both.

María's experience with colonizers gives her a visceral picture of what it means to be oppressed... but her relationship with Jasper gives her the victory & emotional reflection she needs to move on. Jasper's military training gives him the hunger & knowledge for war... but his "curse" of empathy provides him with the tools he needs to recognize & address the horrors of his problematic past & move on.

tbh, i find Jasper & María are perfectly suited for a delicious character-driven narrative. Maria's story is that of a traumatized indigenous woman on a path from colonization to decolonization, & the sacrifices & destruction she endures realize that vision. Jasper's story is that of a troubled man on the path from self-hate to self-love, & what it means to undo the societal teachings/traumas & forge a life of empathy & forgiveness.

& that is something Alice alone can never give Jasper.

Claudie Countdown day 7: Events in 1922

So since we’re only a week away from Claudie’s release I wanted to post some fun facts about her era every day until the 23rd! First topic: events occurring in 1922.

In the World

The Bolshevik Revolution comes to a successful end as the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) is formed under chairman Vladimir Lenin.

After the creation of the Irish Free State under the British flag, the Irish Civil War begins between the Provisional Government of Ireland and the Irish Republican Army (IRA).

In British India, Mahatma Gandhi is tried for sedition and sentenced to six years in prison.

Fascist dictator Benito Mussolini comes to power in Italy.

The first successful insulin treatment is created for diabetics.

The Ottoman Empire comes to an end after 600 years. Its Sultan is exiled to Italy.

In the US

The largest US presidential scandal until Watergate begins when the Secretary of the Interior is bribed into leasing the Teapot Dome Oil Reserves to private oil companies for low rates. This scandal came to light after President Harding’s death in office in 1923, permanently damaging Harding’s reputation.

The Dyer Anti-Lynching Bill, an attempt for the federal government to protect citizens from lynching, is passed by the House but halted in the Senate by Southern Democrats, who use the “states’ rights” argument. This bill would not be passed by both houses until 2022, when it was signed into law by President Biden.

The Great Railroad Strike, one of America’s largest strikes ever, begins in response to a cut in wages. Ten people, mostly workers and their family members, would be killed by the company’s armed guard. The strike was broken in July by a court ruling which massively violated the workers’ first amendment rights.

In Washington, DC, the Lincoln Memorial is dedicated. Because of its origins, it would be a symbolic space for the civil rights movement. In 1939, African-American contralto Marian Anderson was prevented from performing there by the Daughters of the American Revolution; she would then be invited by Eleanor Roosevelt to perform. it would be the destination of the March on Washington and location of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech.

In New York

The first anthology of its kind, The Book of American Negro Poetry is published. It includes works by 31 authors including WEB Du Bois and Claude McKay.

Similarly, the first major book of the Harlem Renaissance is published, Claude McKay’s Harlem Shadows.

Shuffle Along, the first all-Black hit Broadway show, closes after 504 performances. It was one of the major inspiration for the Harlem Renaissance’s artistic revolution.

Key the Metal Idol the anime finale continued the odd pacing with lots of speculating about Key without anyone actually talking to Key, took out a major player for unneeded pathos then ramped up the stakes for the villain to irrational levels. I get that this was an experimental show and had a lot to tackle but they really did overexplain the magic and that killed the magic. We don’t need a huge generational backstory, we need more emotional anchoring to Key herself. For a series about misogyny, it also failed to have women characters & women fans play active roles in the end, even Key’s choice feels like her hand was forced.

I did like that the idols Miho and Benito had complexity to them: Miho was ambitious in her hunger, Benito cunning in her hunger and both strong willed and defiant in their survival. Thoughtful details like Key releasing her lullaby only to those with natural curiosity in her effort to locate friends were glossed over in favour of these big action set pieces that dragged on. I liked that shrine maidens were acknowledged as having important roles as entertainers and the link between wanting to give back to your community spiritually in both.

It ages really badly in certain aspects: you can’t “do a feminism” by having a male crowd destroy a thankfully vacant gynoid for deceiving them and imply their their fan love is pure when your villain also cuts open gynoids for fun. Stan hatred for “rivals” is real but it’s ugly and there’s nothing righteous about it.

With both anime released in 1997, this makes an interesting companion piece to Perfect Blue (Junko Iwao plays an idol in both) and 99s Odishon for facets of the spiritual drive for purpose through entertainment and the machine that is the industry, down to the various complicit cogs. To understand it’s importance, it helps to remember that this was smack bang in the era of the bimbo scandals: vilified women absolutely dragged through the press as a matter of course, with no care for the actual facts. It was brave for a japanese production to paint the sleaze from top to bottom not just “gross fans” - even if these sleazebags get a redemption arc.

Ultimately it doesn’t anchor us enough to Key and she’s the most important character. Instead of giving us the lovable android who’s disregard for human social norms brings people together, the disarming honesty, shameless care for all humans etc etc we get a sleepwalking woman-baby who’s also treated like a potential weapon of mass destruction.

This would be such an easy reboot, we understand the power of hype & need for a parasocial friend more than ever. The industry hasn’t changed, the evil woman narrative is back with a vengeance. The power of belief and hope and feeling seen is real and we’ve all felt it, Key could tap into that and cut out two hours of technobabble on pink goo, orange tang, soylent green...

Something I didn’t mention in my last review is part of my hesitation to watch this anime is that I have a mild phobia of and dysphoria in crowds and spent several years reading or watching anything I could get on crowd psychology. I do not find large crowds uplifting - I do manage to find protests and sponteanous tributes moving but still can’t over the sense that it’s an unstable powerful creature. I would have a preferred an “I believe in The Doctor” type moment over a wound-up stadium of superfans.

Overall: of it’s time, ahead of it’s time, fantastic imagery, terrible pacing. little to no insight into our main character’s psychology but plenty into the people in the star making business. Key is the most powerful person in the world but also the least powerful in the story, things happen to Key instead of Key and friends driving her growth. The messaging is undermined in the classic “girlpower look at that body” way.

i’ve been known to love my boy harold styles but (speaking as a stan! As someone who bought Harry tickets for myself as a birthday gift!) he did not deserve album of the year, the grammys really fumbled the fucking bag with that one. there is no way in hell that harry’s house deserved an award over renaissance or un verano sin ti. 

a black woman hasn’t won album of the year since 1999. That’s egregious. Especially because Beyonce is easily one of the most iconic, genre-changing artists in musical history. i’m not even a beyonce stan! but her last album was a complete re-invention of her sound and helped bring disco back to the main-steam cultural zeitgeist. On the other hand, Benito’s album has been historic in its popularity and impact as a Spanish-language album in the United States, uplifting a handful of indie and lesser known latine featured artists in the process. 

harry’s house isn’t even harold’s best album. this is such a shame.

The other thing is people focus more on the ones who say something negative rather than the overwhelming like and or praise he gets from people. The Adele thing was way overblown. Tbh I’m actually entertained cause sinc Benito has been seeing Kendall he’s gone after her exs. First it was Devin Booker and now Harry. I also didn’t know Coachella was even happening. 😂. Harry’s a big name and sometimes he will get shooters. It happens.

i feel they hype other celebrities though when they praise harry. which is sometimes annoying to me too, bc again, i won't be praising someone for the sole reason they said sth nice about harry, if i like them already then i love the crossover, but if i don't care abt them otherwise, it doesn't mean much to me at the end of the day. and stans be like 'i like them if they praise harry the way i praise him and if they don't then i don't like them' lol. and they take such non-issues and blow them out of proportion lol

Kendall stans so hyped by Benito, i guess they didn’t like that she was with yet another basketball player. Must give it to her he’s on top of his game. The WWE shit corny but also mega popular and got him lot of respect from the male and white community. He’s the biggest entertainer of the moment and i know miss Kendall is hyped to be his girl of the moment. Won’t last in my opinion.
