I got Splatoon 3 because my friend @lighterium​ dragged me into it, blame him (jk)

After learning about the lore and playing the story mode, and also learning it’s heavily implied / canon that the game’s art style is an extreme distortion of reality and that the images in the game about the inklings / octolings looking humanoid are canon, I wanted to attempt what I imagine Mr. Grizz would’ve looked like in actuality instead of in-game.

Extra (Creepy) notes under the cut:

This stuff is a bit gory / creepy / horror-like, so don’t read if you get squeamish please.

I was imagining that when the ink got fused with Mr. Grizz, and the reason he was able to sink into and move around in the ink, is because it dissolved his bones / flesh and replaced it with the fuzzy ooze and ink.

That’s why I wanted to draw the ooze almost as if it was underneath the furry coat on the outside, and bubbled up under the skin around certain areas. That’s also why I made his body look so saggy and almost like it’s a pelt filled with ink.

I imagine that the ink bubbles that you attack in the game are accidental holes in the fur layer, so they’re weak spots that when exploded cause the ooze to spill out, which is why he looks so deflated at the end of the game once you suck out the fuzzballs.

One of the main inspirations for.. primarily the face and mouth is the fucked up Virus Groudon from the Pokemon Jirachi Movie:

i like the concept of she/he 8, and my explanation is very funny to me. when she was signing up for the military or whatever, they were like "what gender do you identify as, so we can have regulation haircuts". at the time 8 was literally just a questionably cis dude, and then was like "ok but the she haircuts slap" and just was like "im a woman" and then realized, "oh poggers i like she/her pronouns too" so.

cuttletavio has me by the throat. mainly because of dissonant melody. and i mean im not wrong.

pride update. they already abolished gender and everyone who plays splatoon is queer so why not a pride parade or flags or locker stickers

maybe nerf the specials a little bit. not by a lot but the trizooka seems almost unavoidable

I like how captain 3 is depicted as like the coolest agent despite them doing like the least amount of stuff compared to the other agents.

Captain has: Saved the great zapfish. Gave the rocket a hair cut.

Agent 4 has: Saved the great zapfish, Also helped Marie be able save Callie

Agent 8 has: Saved Inkopolis from Sanitisation. There for bringing the octolings over to inkopolis.

Agent 3 has: Saved the great zapfish, Dissolved all the fluff from Alterna and Saved the World.

All of them have saved their respective city's in some way except 8 solved racism and neo 3 is the reason the mamals stayed extinct.

Looking back through my blog and seeing all my insistent posts that mr grizz cant be evil for such a large amount of reasons... it hurts so bad lmao

Also.... why did literally nothing have anything to do with the salmonids??? I was on team chaos bc the salmonids were on team chaos and i thought we wouldve gotten lore but no!! We literally got ONE sunken scroll about JUST smallfry. What the hell!!! What was the point!! The relationship chart! The way mr grizz runs the damn company! What was the point! We dont even get told barely anything about the golden eggs other than "he used them for energy" but we dont even get any further explanation!!!!!! Honestly if this story was just BETTER WRITTEN then MAYBE i wouldnt be as upset by it as i am. Like, i could accept villain grizz if it made any fucken sense considering everything we know about everything. Like why tf were the octarians there. What about the three zapfish we rescue. Why were they there if the octarians had nothing to do with the great zapfish. I dont get it.

What is your favourite splatoon boss

Splat 1, the whole build-up was for Octavio and it was GREAT (side note, from what ive scribbled down, Namiki wouldn't really know much about the events of Splat 1, but did hear bits of Calamari Inkantation) Splat 2's original main story was... ok but nothing really stood out :/ Octo Expansion bosses SUCKED AND I HATED IT SO MUCH but the final battle was fantastic Splat 3, i loved all the boss battles - but the final boss HAS to take the cake. (we dont have DLC for splat 3 as of writing this, but im excited for it!!) For Salmonids, Big Shot and Flipper-Flopper are pretty cool.
