Pangshi, Kurstraw, and Konya
These are all Spaceworld Pokemon that got cut from Gold and Silver before release- much hubhub has been previously talked about with them, but I drew them and did shiny variants for them as well

I started playing Pokémon Reforged Silver today and guess who found a shiny Koffing 💀 I wonder if the odds are raised in this hack..? Pls, I found a shiny Zubat in my regular Crystal run on the 3DS last year and now this??? As a kid I played Silver so much and never managed to catch one single shiny besides the Red Gyarados// Like, shinies are so hard to find in Gen2, I still can't believe it, can't help but wonder if this hack has raised odds but either way I'm happy I found this girlie ;w;

sometimes i think about how for the longest time the only remnant of this mew sprite on the internet was this crusty VHS footage of a spaceworld '97 commercial until the spaceworld 97 demo leak... it's also some of the closest imagery we have of the fabled mew machines.
Tumblr media
it's amazing how much this sprite ended up changing before release too. i do kind of miss his big dorky feet

I created DS/Generation 4-style sprite updates for some of the Pokémon from the Gold and Silver Spaceworld ‘97 demo!
This is part of a larger fan project expanding on the lore/story of Kanto and Johto. You can find more on the project here, and more about these Pokémon below the cut!
(All “english” names are entirely made up based on the original names’ etymologies and pre-existing Pokémon naming conventions)
Let’s learn more about the Pokémon you can find in the alternate past!
Kotora/Sirkitt
Type: Electric
This adorable electric tiger likes to snack on the electricity from generators. If it gets too excited it make shock you on accident! (If you anger it, it will shock you on purpose.) Its evolved form is believed to cause thunderstorms.
Kotora/Sirkitt evolves into Raitora/Raiger at level 35.
Rinrin/Purring
Type: Dark
This excitable, musical Pokémon wants to share it’s ringing bells and “singing” with as many people as they can, whether their audience likes it or not! They are a favorite pet because they are easy to keep track of.
Evolves into Berurun/Chimeow at level 28.
Beta Porygon2
Type: Normal
This upgraded version of Porygon has been redesigned to look more cuddly. Perhaps this went a bit too far?
A Porygon upgraded in the past using a Bata Floppy (which is only obtainable in the past) will evolve into Porygon2 (beta form). This is the only way to evolve Porygon without trading. The only non-aesthetic difference between Beta Porygon2 and Porygon2 is that the beta form can learn discharge, nuzzle, and explosion.
Beta Marill (plus Pink Azumarill)
Type: Water/Fairy
Beta Marill and the pink/beta form of Azumarill are essentially the same as their original counterparts. However, upon returning to the present, they change from simply being water type to being fairy/water type. They also have the primary ability of Cute Charm, instead of Thick Fat or Huge Power.
Beta Cleffa
Type: Normal/Fairy
It’s literally just cleffa. I just thought it’d be fun to edit it to match its beta closer. It’s simply an alternate form, and has no impact on evolutions.
This alternate form, along with all other beta baby Pokémon, are not exclusively found in the wild in the past. They also have a 50% of hatching from eggs if the mother/their evolved form was holding an “Ilex Incense.” In battle Ilex Incense will boost the power of any of the holder’s moves if the holder was caught in the past.
Honoguma/Cubustion
Type: Fire
This Pokémon is a favorite among children for its cuddly appearance and boundless energy!
Honoguma/Cubustion evolves into Borubea/Igneursa at level 16, and then into Dainabea/Bearnamite at level 36.
Kurusu/Kruse
Type: Water
This shy Pokémon likes to hide in caves or underwater, rarely interacting with humans. For many years, its highest evolution was believed to be a myth!
Kurusu/Kruse evolves into Akua at level 16, and then into Akueria at level 36.
Animon/Alike
Type: Normal
It can transform into anything, including strong metals.
If you give a Ditto a Metal Coat while in the past, it will evolved into Animon/Alike. Animon/Alike can also learn more moves than Ditto’s trademark “transform.” It can learn metal claw and iron tail by leveling up (metal claw is learned upon evolution), and it can be taught normal- and steel-type moves via machine.
Alternate Hoppip Line: Hoppip/Purroot, Skiploom/Kitbloom, Jumpluff/Dandylion
Type: Grass
Purroot are often kept indoors by their trainers so that they aren’t blown away in the wind!
The bloom on Kitbloom’s head collects energy while it naps in the sun. It can often be heard purring.
Dandylion rides along the wind to travel and spread spores across long distances.
This alternate version of the Hoppip line, which replace the Hoppip line in the wild when you are in the past, is essentially identical to Hoppip, Skiploom, and Jumpluff as we know them. The only difference is that they can now learn scratch and fury swipes, and their primary ability is now Own Tempo.
Koinya/Cointten
Type: Normal
This baby Pokémon has not yet opened its eyes, but it can find coins and other metal knick-knacks by smell alone. It likes to sleep on piles of coins.
Koinya/Cointten evolves into Meowth with maxed friendship. It has a 10% of holding an item, and within those odds it is a 20% chance of holding an amulet coin, and 80% of holding a pearl.
-------
Thanks for checking these out! I’m really proud of these sprites, all things considered. If you want to learn more about the beta Pokémon, these two Bulbapedia pages are quite informative, and you can check out these links if you are interested in the Pokemon Future and/or Memories of Kanto projects! You can also find out more about the time warp idea, specifically, here.

One of my favorite pieces of Zelda cut content is the lost regional accent of the Kokiri.
So, in the Japanese version of Ocarina of Time, the Goron and Zora people had regional accents which featured a verbal tic at the end of their sentences. The Gorons have “goro” (ゴロ), and the Zora have “zora” (ゾラ).
Tumblr media
You can see these tics in action in these screenshots of Darunia and King Zora. While these tics would be kept for the species going forward, they would be scrubbed from most English translations.
There have been only two instances where the English versions keep these tics; for Link the traveling Goron from Majora’s Mask, and for various Gorons encountered in Breath of the Wild. Nothing for the Zora, AFAIK - I guess having a verbal tic that’s 1:1 identical to your species name can get confusing.
That’s fine and all, but what about the Kokiri? Do they have a regional accent too? Well, yes... but almost all instances of it were cut from the final game.
Let me explain. In the Japanese version of OoT, if you talk to Saria while wearing the Keaton Mask, you get a very interesting piece of dialogue.
Tumblr media
Saria will find your mask so amusing that she’ll slip into her “Kokiri accent”, which involves her saying “jara” (ジャラ) at the end of a sentence. Apart from a single line in OoT’s dev-only map select, this is the only uttering of “jara” in the entire script! (Naturally, this part of the conversation was removed from the English version.)
That’s neat and all, but where’s the proof that this tic was gutted from the game? I present to you the text dump of a partial Ocarina of Time build dated late 1997, around the time of that year’s Nintendo SpaceWorld.
If you search for “ジャラ” on the page, you'll get 96 results, all of which come from dialogue spoken by Kokiri (Saria, the shopkeeper, etc). Here’s just one example:
Tumblr media
The translation doesn’t include the tics for whatever reason, but I assure you that they’re there.
Even before this partial build was discovered and released online, there had always been evidence pointing towards a Kokiri accent that was removed from the final game. This screenshot from the SpaceWorld ‘97 build of OoT features Saria talking to Link. And look what’s at the end of her sentence... jara!
Tumblr media
So, why was this Kokiri accent removed from the final game? I can’t think of a good reason why this would be cut, apart from possibly making the dialogue at the start of the game easier to understand. But even that’s a bit of a stretch.
Personally, I think this accent should be brought back.

beta pokémon
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It would have given us one tailed baby vulpix and cute baby meowth and they TOOK IT AWAY FROM US. they probably thought they had plenty of baby pokemon as is, and redesigned some to better fit the pokemon evolution line.
Just Pokémon that were cut or reworked to be completely different. It was amazing when the demo leaked.

Kotora and Raitora
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A round electric tiger that was so nice, they cut it twice. These two were first discovered in the leaked Spaceworld '97 demo of Gold and Silver, which is a vastly different game than Gold and Silver ended up being, but they also appeared in a leaked roster for the original games alongside a further, unnamed evolution. Reasons for why they were scrapped twice are unknown. Kotora and Raitora are the directly-translated names they had in the Spaceworld demo, while Tyker and Straiger are hypothetical localized names given by former series translator Nob Ogasawara in an interview for Did You Know Gaming.

A new hack was recently released that tries to expand upon the Spaceworld 97 Pokemon Gold demo and turn it into a full game. The patch just needs to be applied to a Pokemon Gold rom.

Download 4/6/2024
Link to the blog page that has the download
I sped through getting eight badges and going through Pierce's story by teleporting everywhere and having a few level 100 Pokemon. It still took me an hour and a half to do. I also gave myself a boost with both Souma and Cerise.
I also remembered that I didn't "forget" to remake the winter maps. I was going to wait until I place the updated candidates in place. So I'll have to remake those maps again. Whoops.
Anyway,
-The clerks in Nemorensis' department store's fifth floor will sell you evolution items that are different from the stones the ones in Fulgora will sell you.
-Made the Power Plant look different from the department store in Fulgora.
-I renamed Ludavine in the cutscene where you meet her.
-Added three maps to the Safari Zone. I plucked them out of my Gen 3-styled BETA Johto map that I made when I was getting used to a new prescription, and I cut two of them by half. I think one was going to be Coronet Mountain. (Partially because it was labeled "Mt. Fuji" in the Spaceworld '97 BETA.)
I think that's about it. Other than maybe some minor things with the newer maps I think I'm about ready to test marriage out.
This does mean that I won't have any new downloads for a while. (I will have to restart my game at least five times.) I'll still update my progress. (The things I haven't crossed out yet are either connected to the candidates or are something I have to do immediately before releasing this build.)
