I Feel So... Dumb... | 04.01.2022

So my younger sister is getting married in May of this year and I am so happy for her! She’s going to have a big wedding and I think she said it’s open invitation? I can’t remember. But the thing is, I was going to invite this guy that I’m very close to (whose name shall remain nameless) to be my date and I have been super hesitant about asking him because I’m not sure how he would feel about meeting a bunch of my family members. So then I asked him when is his last day of his school semester (forgot to mention that he’s in school, working at school, and lives on the opposite coast of me) just out of curiosity and he told me June 10th. But then I had remembered that a few years ago, he randomly asked me to go to a wedding with him! (I told him no at the time because it seemed sketchy when he just asked me out of the blue!) Now it might be too last minute to ask him because everyone has to RSVP by April 1st (which is today) and I should have asked him earlier! But also, I feel like if I actually did ask him in advance, he would probably come be my date knowing it would mean a lot to me. Would he actually put aside some time just to be with me at something super important to me or is it just my imagination?

My Thoughts on Crisis: on Infinite Earths parts 4 and 5 (May contain spoilers!) | 01.15.20

Okay, so the rest of “Crisis: on Infinite Earths” aired last night and totally missed the last two parts because I was at yoga and after I had gotten home an hour or so after my class ended, I didn’t watch because it would not have made sense to me. But I have now watched both parts 4 and 5 today! Let’s get to the review!

Part 4 opened with pretty much where it left off in part 3. Oliver had died fighting the shadow demons and Lex Luthor going against Anti-Monitor. But little did we know, Oliver Queen has resurrected in a new form called Spectre. He helps the other heroes and paragons to save the universe from the Anti-Monitor.

In part 5 while battling the Anti-Monitor, Oliver sacrifices his own life to create a new universe and dies the second time. With the heroes battling with the Anti-Monitor for the last time and finally defeating him, they all come together to mourn the loss of Oliver Queen.

Both of the final parts were definitely worth the anticipation after that mid-crossover hiatus. They were really exciting with some happy, some comedic, and some sad parts. It was sad that Oliver Queen had died a hero, but will the show “Arrow” continue without him/ is it the very last season before it leaves the CW network? I’m glad to see that Barry Allen survived though. Or did he? And speaking of, when he (Grant Gustin) got thrown into The Vanishing Point, he meets another version of himself, whom we saw in DCEU’s Justice League (2017), and was played by Ezra Miller. Miller’s cameo was funny, but I just also think it was weird to combine the DCEU from the big screen with the Arrowverse from the small screen. I mean, I understand that whole combining-universes-into-earth-prime thing, but come on! Then Beebo, from “Legends of Tommorow” also makes a cameo, but only for a brief amount of time. Was it necessary? Probably not.

Overall, this five-part crossover was pretty exciting but also non-exciting at the same time. I would give this ambitious crossover 4/5 stars!

WTF?? - 03.09.2020

I’m kinda mad at those people who have been infected with the COVID-19 Coronavirus while they were in another country and decided to travel to here in the U.S., making everybody live in fear! Like, why the eff did y’all not realize you had the damn virus until you have came to the U.S.? If you were showing symptoms of any illness whatsoever, you should have postponed your trips and stayed wherever you guys came from! This is how viruses spread!

Doctor Who Season 12 Review - 03.02.2020 (contains spoilers! Please keep scrolling if you aren’t caught up yet!)

I have watched all of season 12 including the two-part finale and I have to say that it actually wasn’t bad. Definitely better the awful season 11. But some of the other episodes weren’t that great either.

This season started off great with a plot twist! The Master made his return in the season premiere, which I did not see coming! He pretended to be a random guy called “O”, which The Doctor meets. But soon, The Doctor finds out that this “O” guy was really The Master the whole time.

Then there were some characters that came back to the show like the Judoons. The Judoons last appeared during David Tennant’s run in an episode called “Smith and Jones.” It was cool to see them come back. Captain Jack Harkness also came back, but unfortunately it was only for one episode and he never got see The Doctor again. But it was great to see that his character hadn’t changed a bit!

Some of the other episodes didn’t stand out to me, as they were kinda boring. One of the episodes kind of confused me though. There was another Doctor who was an ordinary woman called “Ruth.” Then she became The Doctor, or Doctor Ruth. The last two episodes with the Cybermen were pretty good. The Master came back bringing Gallifrey and he showed The Doctor the destruction of their home planet. He then proceeded to his evil plan to take over the universe by making the time lord bodies into cybermen and had stolen the Cyberium from the Lone Cyberman. The season finale ended with the Judoon randomly appearing out of nowhere and zapped The Doctor to a prison on another planet, which was a cliffhanger for the next season, “The Revolution of the Daleks.”

Overall, I would give this season 3/5 stars.

The Future is Female! | 07.16.19

So two years ago today, it was announced that Jodie Whitaker plays the 13th Doctor on Doctor Who on BBC America. Then just recently, it was announced that Lashana Lynch is going to take on James Bond’s mantle as 007. Both times, there have been mixed reactions to those announcements. I am very excited to hear about the recent news, but I think it’s pretty funny that those who have been long time fans have either reacted negatively or positively. Let me break it down for you.

So for Doctor Who, the show started back in November of 1963 and had male actors play the lead role as The Doctor for many years. Now, “The Doctor” is NOT a name. It is an OCCUPATION. Also, the character is an alien from a fictional planet, called Gallifrey that can travel through time and space. When the show had announced that there was going to be a female doctor on the show as the lead role, I was so excited to hear about the news. When the show had gotten some complaints about having a female doctor, the show had confirmed that it was NEVER mentioned that The Doctor HAS to be male only! Yes!

Now for the James Bond movies, I don’t really know much about. I have only seen Skyfall and Spectre starring Daniel Craig as James Bond as 007. It looks like the very first James Bond movie took place in 1962 and was titled, Dr. No. There have been a string of white men taking on the mantle as James Bond as 007. But now, we have a black woman playing the part as 007. Before the exciting news, I was secretly hoping Idris Elba would play the part. But when I heard that not only a woman, but a woman of color is going to play the part, I was more excited! Of course, she wouldn’t play James Bond, because that’s the former 007’s name. 007 is ALSO an OCCUPATION! Daniel Craig has passed on the mantle as 007 to Lashana Lynch and of course the fans who only wanted a man to play the next 007, they went up in arms! Look, James Bond has retired from being 007 and it’s now someone else’s turn. Literally, ANYONE can be 007!

So, what do these two have in common? Well, both have occupational titles! There is no job that is race or gender specific! Anyone can be capable of being anyone they want to be! Sheesh!

I have just took an online class called Digital Photography for the Fine Arts and these are only some of the photos I have worked on from class assignments. The first two are still life, the second one is a triptych of my self-portrait assignment, and the last two are composites from my very last assignment. We also had to make a joiner, where instead of taking a photo of the entire image, you shoot all the parts of the image while standing in one place and then you piece those images together like a puzzle. I didn’t want to post mine because I had struggled with it and didn’t like how I wanted it to come out. I’m only posting what are my strongest images. Overall, I’m pretty proud of my work.
