Somi’s song lowkey sounded like an add for some phone. I didn’t dislike it and it was definitely better than half of her discography (WYWF was a hate crime). The rap was indeed bad, thankfully it was 5 seconds. We’ve heard worse this year so Somi will probably get in the middle tier of this year release 🤷🏽‍♀️. She looked good too.

I like Somi's WYWF, but it is the definition of westernized song. People like to say kpop songs are just pop in Korean, but I honestly can't see most of the genre songs being sung in English and then instantly become US radio friendly. WYWF though, is exactly that. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice song. It's just not what I'm looking for when I listen to kpop.

and yes i am part of a kpop dance cover group in sch rn actually, i have my own dance cover account on ig too and i'm actually on youtube somewhere bec of the dance cover grp (doubt you'll find it tho, it's not a popular channel). i was involved in a concert earlier this year in march (made the final line up for exo's history) and i also did somi's wywf last year so i did have a good amount of time spent in the studio.

i grew so sick of the songs so fast that neither of the songs are in my playlists anymore. if anything, all the songs ive learnt some bit too (bec i learn on my own as well) are in a separate playlist and i know never to listen to them on my own accord LMAOOOO about 2 months back i was involved in a dance chain challenge organised by the team and it features about 20+ songs? i was in about 4 or 5 but my screentime was so little (alot off the screentime went to the members who were more 'exclusive' and chummy with the editor)

i got kinda mad because it made me feel like i practised so much at home for nothing and it kind of made me feel bad too because- yknow idol groups have such a huge disparity- i cant imagine how it must feel for some members to receive lesser attention despite putting in a comparable amount of effort? dont get me wrong, i bias the members of most groups who had a solid fanbase (juyeon, seonghwa, baekhyun for ex are all high fliers) but my heart hurts when i remember how much effort they put in as well only to get a significantly lesser amount of attention.

i definitely talked more than i expected to, i hope you don't mind, and i hope you hang in there alright! my motto for this semester's 'no lows, no highs' and i hope that does help you with sticking to your resilience and making it through!! <3333

BlackPink - LoveSick Girls

okay look, i am a blink myself but i am not gonna force myself to like something just because my idols did it.

i loved the mv, the scenery was *chef's kiss*, the song is really catchy too but i didn't like it. for a comeback i was expecting something else so maybe this is why i was lowkey disappointed when the song came out (?)

it's all about the chorus, because overall the song is quite good but that goddamn chorus just doesn't sit right with me it ruined the overall vibe.

Somi - Birthday

ugh my queen; talented, brilliant, show stopping, breathtaking, gorgeous and the list goes on

yet tbl did her dirty with this debut song, i expected something else more of a girl crush/ girl boss-ish vibe, especially since she's under tbl now

the intro reminded me of a meghan trainor song, i forgot which one tho. anyway everything is alright UNTIL THAT MF CHORUS AGAIN, it feels like i've heard something similar before but idk, then from there it's just meh

if we had to compare it to What You Waiting For, i'd say that WYWF's vibe fits more somi, it really displayed her vocals and god knows how talented she is and i hope tbl will take good care of her and her talent and potential. i think since it's more mature vibe than birthday it showed her off as this amazing woman she is and highlighted her best traits

for once the chorus is fine, but the rest is just- lowkey cringey? OMG SORRY BUT I JUST CAN'T WITH THAT SONG. the message they're trying to display is good, the scenery is wonderful, their visuals and voices are on point but the song is not it. it's tmi, the rhythm doesn't fit, and it sounds lowkey childish

anyway they're really talented and i'm looking forward to see their progression, they are amazing

what that anon said the other day about blinks automatic response is to find something wrong with everything is so true. in the doc rose sang to the instrumental of somi's wywf & now people are mad that rose's solo went to somi when that's not what happened? the pd made the beat and was playing around with it with different people, so obviously rose decided it wasn't for her so he showed the beat to somi and they wrote the song from there. why does everything have to be so dramatic?

I know when I woke up this morning I saw somi was trending and then clicked on it and saw a bunch of think pieces it’s not that deep out all good things in the documentary that’s what was being discussed the most and it’s hilarious
