AU Title: The Lust Demon’s Lair
Setting: The human dimension, millennia after the interdimensional war. The demons overthrew the humans after they attacked them and now the descendants of the humans and the descendants of remaining soldiers of elves, dwarves, and orcs live under the ruling of the demons. With the dimension organized in ministries, with each ministry being ruled by one demon family. Every decade young men and women have to be sent to the demonic minister and no one knows for real what happens to them. It is only known, that they never come back. Concept: Sojan is the only son left of Akamratit Mahelgris, the minister of Wealzaryth and has a hard time to prove his father’s trust to be rightfully laid on him after his older brother tried to assassinate their father decades ago. When the time of the sacrifices comes around again, Akamratit puts Sojan on a trial. He shall pick one of the sacrifices and make this one the first of his harem of non-demonic playthings, every adult lust demon owns. Eager to get his father’s approval, Sojan throws himself into the task. Things change when he meets Melisno, one of the young men sent as sacrifice, whose will isn’t easily broken which makes Sojan’s trial harder than he thought, because deep down Sojan would prefer to get this all done without any force. It becomes even more complicated when he learns that Melisno is part of the resistance, his sister Arritit helps them from the inside and his sister Ren and Ram lurk behind every corner waiting for him to fail.
Aesthetic: dark castles, blue and purple velvet, chunky golden riches, silk robes and cotton rags, whispers in the dark, hidden corners in the walls, eyes burning with an inner fire, contrast of bright light and deep shadows, whispered promises from broken lips, blood sprinkled cloth, luxury baths
Tiny Scene/Line: Nervously, Sojan glanced at his father. The tall, muscular man did everything he could to appear even more dangerous and threatening than he already was by nature. Of course, Akamratit had to show off with the new sacrifices arriving at the throne room. The gaze of Akamratit wandered over the thirty people of all species. If Sojan had to guess, most of them were of mixed heritage, like the majority of non-demons these days. He counted eighteen men and twelve women. Way too many just stepped into adulthood. “Do what I asked you to, Sojan. And don’t embarrass me.” The voice was low but echoed from the halls like broken light from a crystal chandelier. Sojan cleared his throat and stepped forward. Just one. He only needed one of them, get them to play along and behave around his father, so he could prove he was worthy of Akamratit’s title in a few centuries. Slowly he walked to the group. It wasn’t unusual for the sacrifices to enter the harems of one of the demons. That’s what their main existence was about. The amount of half-demons populating the castle were evidence of this. The rest would end up as maids and stable boys if they were lucky. Again, Sojan promised himself, things will change once he was in charge, but until then he had to play along. He only paid partially attention to the sacrifices until he reached almost the end of the queue. With a grunt, he made a few steps back. Piercing green eyes covered by dark curls stared at him. These unusual eyes belonged to a young man, probably in his mid-twenties, whose frame and the way he stood gave away, that he wasn’t a simple farmer. “This one, Father”, Sojan heard himself say before he consciously made a decision. Akamratit came closer and grabbed the young man by his chin, forcing him to move his head in the wished direction. “Well, well, Sojan. You got some taste. What a pity, I would have some ideas what to do with such a pretty face.” Akamratit turned to one of the guards and pushed the men into their arms. “Prepare him and bring him to my son’s chambers. And now, my turn.” Something turned in Sojan’s stomach as he saw his father’s greedy face up close. “Excuse me, I will retire.” “Yeah, whatever. I am busy.” The careless wink of his hand was all Sojan needed of Akamratit and left.
Time jumped forward like a rabbit trying to flee as Sojan made his way to his part of the castle. At least it was the furthest away from Akamratit and from Ren and Ram. These twins started to give him the creeps the moment they started talking. A knock on the door startled him. “Chezat, we prepared your plaything, as wished.” The guard from the throne room stood behind the man Sojan picked. They had washed him and put him in simple pants and a green tunic. “You are dismissed. Make sure I won’t be disturbed unless it is my father or something important.” “Of course.” The big door closed with a soft thud. The young man didn’t even look behind him.  Sojan had to congratulate him for keeping his composure. “What is your name?”, Sojan started carefully. He still stood a few feet away, hoping this would come across as non-threatening as possible. “Melisno, and I am not afraid of you or your family.” “I can see this.” Melisno took a deep breath and trained his gaze in Sojan. At this moment, Sojan realized he got himself into big trouble. There was no way that Melisno would make anything easy on him. “So you aren’t going to take them off and do what you please? Or do you plan to make me feel all save before following your demonic urges?” The nod towards the jewelry meant to block parts of his magic didn’t go unnoticed by Sojan. “What by the Great Mother are you folks telling about us?” “The truth”, Melisno spat back, “Don’t think we can’t connect the dots. Even if everyone claims to not know what happens, there are whispers behind closed doors and raised handkerchiefs.” With a frustrated growl, Sojan rubbed his face, and looked at Melisno through his fingers. “Not all of us are like this.” “Yeah, sure”, Melisno sneered, “And I am the king of Wealzaryth.” “Great Mother, help me”, Sojan murmured. The plan was so easy. It was just to pick one, get them to play along long enough for Akamratit burying his paranoia and survive this craziness. It could have been so easy. But he had to pick the most stubborn men this side of the High Sea.

Hi Pause, I just take your offer to let me rant about my WIP. It's called "Guild Hunter Sojan" and the titular MC is a lust demon who decided to live as human and hunt down monsters to protect the settlements. The story starts with him coming into a small town with the guild house he claimed his home long ago and Sojan just wanting to take some well deserved rest. Of course, nothing is as he wished and besides meeting up with his sister, and saving a bard who immediately saw an opportunity to witness big adventures, Sojan soon learns his megalomaniac father is up to no good again, and it is up to him, his sister and said bard to find help where they can to stop the plans. It all started with a stupid idea, no plan at all and I pants my way through it, making all the worldbuilding notes and stuff along the way. (Ironically, my new-found love for bookbinding came in handy here with making lots of notebooks and a nice covering thing to keep it all together) I just love to discover the story along the way and the bard Lyran is always good for some epic lines, even if everyone rightfully wants to hug him. And it already sparked so many more stories where I continue the adventures and an AU lol. It is inspired by The Witcher, the Monster Hunter Games and a bit Dragon Age.
FIRST OF ALL I love bards, they are the best
Secondly, I love that you bind your own notebooks! That's really, really cool. I always wanted to get into it but I was too intimidated.
I'm curious to hear why Sojan decided to live as a human instead! Was the demon life just not for him? (Too chaotic, too violent, too messy, something like that?) I'm also intrigued about him and his sister having to go up against their father, that will probably be incredibly difficult for them!
I am also a total pantser, and the only reason I have any idea at all what I'm doing is because @ohsugarfoot lets me ramble half baked ideas at her while we're driving places, haha. Discovering the story along the way is part of the fun for me, too. Some parts I do have planned out but others just happen as they happen :p

I am really plagued by AU ideas. After "The gang lives in a world where demons rule and Sojan has to prove his worth with 'domesticating' Lyran" and "Arritit is the heir of a late Victorian kingdom and Lyran her husband" followed by "How would the gang act in a modern world"; I now present "Lyran as pirate, full Captain Jack Sparrow style, and Arritit being owner of her own pirate crew" and "What if the gang lives on a modern day supernatural world and Lyran is a werewolf" Someone sends help.

Hi! Iron, acid, eclipse for tiny scene. Hope you have fun with the words :) @catharticallysarcastic
Hey @catharticallysarcastic, this is more like micro story part Monday, because there was no way my muse wanted to cooperate yesterday, but here we are. I had a lot of fun writing this, and I hope you like it. Warning for talk about sex, kink and sexual encounters.
Tumblr media
"It doesn't work like that," Ylva growled. She jumped up, the chair tipping loudly backward. Wearily, the others looked up. They had been trying to find a way into Lyran's mansion for hours, but the man was just too paranoid.  Grumbles and huffs went through the group. "Unless we're going to pour acid in there we're going to have to find another way," Talaina stated simply. "I know that. Ari?" Arritit just shook her head. "In and out without a trace. That's especially important in this case. The plan has to be iron-clad." A thudding sound followed as Miada banged her head on the table. "The man is paranoid. There's a failsafe for the failsafe for the failsafe." "We'll find a way somehow," Niat tried to be the voice of hope, even if she sounded anything but hopeful. "Have a wonderful good morning, ladies, and Sykova." Sojan waltzed into the kitchen with an elated stride. Skeptically, Arritit's gaze followed his movements as he grabbed coffee and sat down to it peacefully. The wide, satisfied grin from him only increased her foul mood. "It's four in the morning, why are you in such a fucking good mood?" "You still want to try?" He nodded toward the blueprints of Lyran's estate. "Doesn't exactly look like the plan for the Halloween party, does it?" "Then surely you don't feel like helping out with the catering?" The grin on Sojan's face widened, and Arritit was one silly sentence away from giving him his mug to eat. "Does it look like it?" "When did you revive the catering?", Talaina just asked instead. It almost seemed like a peace offering. "Since a certain famous singer is planning a lunar eclipse party and wants special pastries for it."
Excitedly, everyone talked in confusion until Sojan raised his hand. Arritit just blinked at him from her chair. "As with all things holy, did you make this?" "You said the other day, as the water pipe burst in the bakery, I should use that to relax." "Yes...." They both skipped over the point that Sojan was a guest at the club three nights in a row after that. "I ran into him." "Ran into him or came inside him?", giggled Sykova from the side. "Seriously? That's the first thing you've offered in hours?" Miada just rolled her eyes. "Hey, you guys shot down the idea of me playing the jealous boyfriend, right?" With a shrug of his shoulders, he jumped off the countertop he was sitting on before and gestured for Miada to make room. Raising her index finger, Arritit looked at Sojan. "You have a catering job for the mansion we're going to break into?" "Yes." "How?" "Somehow we came up with the fact that I'm a baker." Sojan's chuckle was skipped by Arritit for the sake of her nerves. "If we help you cater, then we have access to the mansion?" "That's right. Oh, and that one...," Sojan pointed to an area next to the bedroom marked Panic Room, "...is not a panic room. It might have been at one time, the way it's built." "Where did..." Before Arritit had spoken, Sykova had stood in front of Sojan and leaned over him, grinning, so that Sojan was stuck on the chair. "You were there earlier." "Yep." "Lyran's into certain things, from what I've overheard." "Quite." Arritit got an inkling of where this was going and went to get the rest of the whiskey from the cabinet. "The room is a sex dungeon?" asked Sykova straight forward. "And a very well-appointed one," Sojan confirmed. No sooner had Arritit taken a sip then Ylva took the bottle from her to take a sip herself. "I need bleach for my brain..." Niat just chuckled at Ylva and then crumpled the blueprint. "Okay, we can forget about the blueprint. We need to see the mansion for ourselves." "Good thing I have an appointment with him in two days to discuss everything. What do you think, Tali?" Talaina nodded with a big grin. "Someone like you must have an event manager with you." "Who just happens to get lost in a big mansion like this..." "And on the night itself, everyone will be distracted by the lunar eclipse and standing outside," Sykova added, "Which means we have it a little easier. "So, the swap dance?" Expectantly, everyone looked at Arritit, who only nodded. "Swap dance."

I don't know if you'll like it but here's a prompt, "live like legends". Have fun with the girls' night ☺️ @catharticallysarcastic
Hey @catharticallysarcastic, oh this gave me the permission to write this weird modern day AU idea with Arritit running a sex club to get intel from the rich where the most valuable stuff can be stolen. I put together the chaotic bunch with the only two real brain cells at hand.
Tumblr media
"Come on, it'll be fun. What's wrong with that?" Pleadingly, Arritit looked at the others. While Niat clearly looked like she doubted Arritit's sanity, Ylva looked like she was about to kill her. "Funny? You want to kill us," Ylva replied with her arms in front of her chest. "You're looking at this wrong, we're going to be living legends." "Now, wait a second." Niat was clearly trying to be the voice of reason, which was funny enough in itself. Waiting, Arritit sipped her coffee. "I'm listening?" "You really think we should break into the mansion of the most famous musician this side of the equator?" "That was exactly the plan." What was so hard to understand about that, Arritit could not comprehend. Ylva's heavy sigh distracted them both. "I mean, yeah, we opened the club to rob rich guys that way, because no one thinks a woman who pole dances would also make a good thief, but... Ari, seriously?" As if it were a defense against their worries, Arritit pushed chocolate cake over to them. "Oh, cake..." Before anyone could respond, Sykova had also grabbed the biggest piece and sat down chewing. "That one was for Niat and Ylva." "Not anymore." "If he doesn't behave, smack him," Miada called from the other room. For a moment, Arritit was tempted to comply. "Oh, chocolate." With that, the other piece disappeared into Talaina's mouth. In her mind, Arritit wondered herself why she hadn't bought the whole damn cake in the first place. "So, who should be bribed for what?" asked Talaina at least. Only at the same moment she stole Arritit's coffee with a grin. "Niat and Ylva." "And why?" Sykova stretched backward over the back of the chair to reach the refrigerator. "She wants to break into Lyran's. You know, our best client and at the same time probably the most famous, richest and best secured musician in the whole fucking world." At Ylva's drastic explanation, Arritit could only chuckle. "That's Ari. I'm in." Sykova just shrugged. A glance at Talaina said she was at least considering helping. "She'll do it either way, with or without you," Sojan commented. Ignoring the group, he poured himself coffee and stopped, leaning his butt against the countertop. "Thanks, that's not the help I need." "No, but it's the motivation they need." Half-turning, Arritit sat back in the chair. With one arm propped on the backrest, she glared angrily at Sojan. "What are you doing here, anyway? Don't you have a bakery to run or something?" "Closed for a burst water pipe." "I hear Ari's planning another coup?" At least one who was happy, even if Miada's enthusiasm gave Arritit pause. When she and Miada agreed, it liked to end in disaster. "Now we're screwed, they agree," Niat groaned dramatically and went to get the emergency whiskey. "You're forgetting one thing," Arritit grinned triumphantly. All eyes shot to her. Briefly, she enjoyed the confusion and the attention. Talaina made a prompting gesture as she took the whiskey from Niat. "It's simple. We have the best informant ever." Silence. About five seconds later, Sykova banged his head on the table. "You're going to use his own security people against him?" "Isn't that all we ever do?" "This is going to go gloriously to hell," Syan commented dryly. He took the whiskey from Talaina and dumped some into his coffee. Arritit took the coffee cup and whiskey from him with a grin. "But if we make it, we'll be living legends." "Just until Fenor can't get his hands on us..." Sometimes she loved Sykova for his nonchalant manner, but today was not one of those days. Frustrated, Ylva threw her hands in the air. "All right, we'll do it. But it's going according to Niat's plan. We all know what comes out when Ari plans something like this." "That's why I'm the body of this operation." Sojan's agonized groan only made Arritit grin further.

Why the everlasting fuck do I suddenly get the idea for a strange AU with the Sojan gang? And with strange I mean, strange because it would be partially erotica? I think. My mind is a weird place. I don't need new ideas, I have plenty to finish, but... Arritit running a sex club sounds like fun.

Happy STS! If, for some reason, you had to change the POV and tense that your story is written in, which would you change it to and why?
Happy STS writernopal,
well, I suck at writing in present tense so POV change is the only option here lol
Ironically, with Blood Night I am doing it right now and changed it from Sojan as single POV character to Lyran and Arritit in the AU beginning where I also mix up some encounters in the beginning.
If I had to change the POV for the real WIP I would go for Lyran because he was there from the start pretty much, only misses a little bit of what isn't crucial to the overall plot. It would basically mean a different first chapter and the rest from Lyran's POV
For Always Prepared, it might be trickier. Since Nesryn switches from her world to another one and the first chapter is about her being in her world and waking up in the other thinking someone kidnapped her and threw her out somewhere in the woods, it would be difficult to get the same impact with a POV change.
During the edits, I just added multiple POVs because some things wouldn't make sense otherwise for the reader without me seriously overwriting it.
The only POV I can think off that would make sense and still gives the reader every information they need would be Lorkin, one of the magic guards sent to protect her who caught some feelings for Nesryn over the time
For Sea of Memories, Sea of Chances, I think the only logical option for a POV change would be Maurice, Killian's skipper because it is clear throughout the whole story the skipper knows something Kilian and Becca don't.

happy STS! what would a coffee shop AU be like for your characters?
Hey ashen-crest, happy STS! So coffee shop AU.... I would say Sojan and Lyran run the coffee shop together, which also serves as community hub and Arritit organizing all kind of groups and clubs. Niat and Ylva are private eyes who swing by for their caffeine intake and to check on the neighborhood to keep everyone safe. Mithelia runs the marital arts dojo next door and offer free courses for the kids from the neighboorhood. Talaina is the new intructor at the dojo who Arritit falls like instantely. Of course Lyran tries to be her wingman and makes things worse. Niat and Ylva have to keep her from killing him, and try to make Talaina understand there is a reason Arritit comes over with coffee and brownies almost everyday.

Good Morning Tumblr. My body is a traitor, my neighbor a flor underneath is definitively using my washing machine and either she doesn't know which one she uses without asking or she doesn't care because I caught her in the act, and to make it worse, the stupid AU for Sojan won't leave me.

Shadow Play Part 25
Tumblr media
Well, there is one thing when you work for the government: Free days get canceled fast. Something Lyran has to survive now and it only ends in interesting moments.
Tumblr media
Warning: explicit sex Sorry for the really long post.
So have fun @ashen-crest @adie-dee @abalonetea @cometworks @viskafrer @vivian-is-writing
Three days off became only two, which Lyran could only accept with a grumble. Emergency meetings were not called that for nothing. He was only worried about Sojan, whom he hadn't seen for the last two days, and the explanation that he wouldn't be sick for long did little to reassure Lyran. The only thing that could cheer him up today was the prospect of being on his way home already. The meeting had lasted all day, but not only had a solution been found, they had been able to skip the next day's meeting for it. A song on his lips, he was at the height of the conservatory when Asmolea came to meet him with her entourage. As custom demanded, he stood to the side and let them all pass, but Asmolea remained standing. "Lyran, oh forgive me, Nismo Melisno, what a pleasure to see you. I hear your wife is not well? If you wish, I can have one of the royal healers sent."
"Thank you, your majesty, my wife is already better. Age and the weather are not her friends. The healers have done a good job and Nisma Arritit is kind enough to use her herbal knowledge for my wife." Asmolea narrowed her eyes briefly. "What delightful news. But what a shame you couldn't finish your last song before the king dismissed you." The way she leaned forward at that seemed a bit threatening, or rather was meant to seem that way. Lyran smiled mildly. "Don't worry, I've been a bard for so long, my queen, some things will take time for me to shed. And a bard will always be a bard." Asmolea jerked her head away slightly and took a deep breath. She had taken the hint. "Another piece of pleasant news, Nismo. I look forward to hearing the outcome of your song." His smile became a grin. "So do I. Meanwhile, I'm still looking for the right ending." "I wish you success with it," Asmolea spoke in a pressed voice and gave orders to move on. Still to the end of the corridor, Lyran watched her go. It had been innocuous to any outsider, but the veiled threats were understood by both. So Asmolea had her next move in planning, that much Lyran could say with certainty. With a mental note to set his spies on it, he finally made his way home. Already thinking about spending the evening playing cards or something similar, he entered the house. The absence of Astrina and Arritit surprised him. "Ah, Nismo, glad you are already home. Nisma Astrina is getting ready for the theater," Hedanro greeted him. "Theater?" "It seems the Nismani Astrina, Mithelia, and Arritit have decided to go see a play today." "I see," Lyran smirked, "Thank you Hedanro. I just need a little something to eat for later, then everyone can go too." Hedanro just nodded and disappeared again. Lyran found Astrina in her room, putting up her hair against the heat that was beginning to settle in the city earlier in the afternoon. He hugged her from behind and kissed her gently on her hand. "So you want to go out without me?" he teased her. "I hardly think you're interested in a performance of Yohrir's woes." "By the five, spare me that." Dramatically, he put a hand over his heart. "Sojan feels the same way," Astrina laughed, "So I guess you two will have the estate to yourselves today." "Are you planning to stay away long?" "Mithelia said she knows an all-women's inn near the theater. So I'm afraid we won't be back until nightfall." "And drunk, if I know Mithelia." "Very likely." "And I'll spend the evening trying to figure out what Asmolea is planning now." Astrina turned in her chair with a worried look. "You ran into her?" "Yes, and she made it clear that she hadn't forgotten that I hadn't completed the assignment." She snorted and closed her eyes briefly. "I can't believe that woman. I don't know if she's stupid, stubborn, or goal-oriented." "Both, my love. But I'm going to put on something more comfortable and get something to eat first. Will you stop by before you go?" "Always," Astrina stretched and kissed him, "And use the time wisely." She winked at him in a way that he could only smirk in response. It was easy to guess what she meant. Reassured that Mithelia was there and that she would surely take at least one of the house guards with her for the sake of decency, Lyran went to his study. He had to go over the information of the last few weeks again to see if he had missed anything. The feeling that Asmolea would strike soon spread through him.
Stretched out at the fireplace in the study, Sojan watched Lyran sift through the last of the documents. The women had left more than an hour ago and Lyran had suggested spending the evening with wine and company. The last cup of wine was either already going to his head or it was time he started drinking his mother's tea, because there was something infinitely attractive about the way Lyran kept licking his lips lightly while he thought. Forcefully, Sojan forced himself to look away. Breaking his mother's blockade had suddenly become not the smartest decision. The rustle of paper told him that Lyran was finished, and shortly after he dropped exhausted into the other armchair and reached for the wine. "Any new insights?" "Nothing that can't wait until tomorrow. Whatever Asmolea is up to, either the spies haven't heard about it yet, or she's managed to keep it secret for once." In his mind, Sojan cursed off. Even the way Lyran set the cup caused images in his mind that didn't belong there. Not this time. He closed his eyes for a moment. "If you're tired, you don't have to hold out on me," Lyran explained. There had been a hidden laugh in his voice. Sojan opened his eyes again with a deep breath. "Don't worry, tiredness is not the problem yet." "Yeah, the weather doesn't let you sleep anyway..." Lyran stretched. Through his sleeveless tunic, Sojan could watch closely as his muscular arms tensed. He took another sip of wine, even though he knew he couldn't take much. The sound of the wine carafe told of Lyran already refilling his glass. "I'm afraid that's true," Sojan confirmed, lifting the wine cup, "So I can only hope the wine does what it always does and makes me tired eventually." Lyran's laughter filled the room. A slight shake of the head followed. "I'm afraid even that is of little help." He leaned forward and looked urgently at Sojan. If he didn't know better, Sojan would say he saw that certain kind of hunger in Lyran's eyes. "We'll see." Unexpectedly, Lyran drank the cup in one go and stood up. Slowly he stepped behind Sojan and put his hands on his shoulder. Irritated, Sojan waited to see what came next. "Be honest with me," Lyran whispered in his ear. The speech melody was strange and immediately drew Sojan into a kind of spell. Briefly, the thought flared up of whether Lyran had relatives among the melody demons. Sojan's pulse quickened, and the proximity alone was enough to once again cause distinct images to appear in his mind. "I would be one way or the other." The way Lyran's hands slowly slid from Sojan's shoulders down over his chest was unmistakable. It was only thanks to Sojan's self-control that Lyran didn't already find himself pressed against a wall. "You've been keeping an eye on me since the ball, haven't you?" "I have." "Why?" "I can't put my finger on it," Sojan mused aloud, "Something about your charisma did it." Lyran laughed behind him and walked back around the sesel, but kept a hand on Sojan's torso. "My charisma? You're into danger?" "The mysterious one," Sojan half-corrected. Lyran's astonished blink helped him get out of the spell a little, even if Sojan was inwardly beginning to curse him for what he was doing. "Hmm, mysterious then. I can only return that." Laughing, Lyran took the wine cup from Sojan and emptied it off. As soon as the cup was empty Lyran leaned down to him again. The smile was inviting and yet showed some tension. The part of Sojan still capable of thought was just trying to come to terms with the fact that Lyran was actually ensnaring him, while the other half was struggling for dominance. "Now you have to be honest." "Whatever you want to know, Sojan." "Are you sure about this?" Lyran's smile took on something predatory. His hands braced against the back of the seat as he looked down at Sojan. "I'm sure of it. More sure than ... usual." Even if he seemed uncertain for a moment during the pause, Sojan believed him. Lyran was absolutely aware of what he was doing and where it was going. Before Sojan could answer, Lyran sat on his lap and leaned forward. Just
before Sojan's face, he stopped. "Fuck, Lyran...." "I plan to," her grinned. "Why?" "Why what?" asked Lyran with a playful tone. Sojan was more than happy to wear the wide pants of the elves. "Why now? Here?" "Because Astrina is right. I can do what I want, and I should take a chance when it comes," Lyran breathed in his ear, nibbling his earlobe briefly, "And don't worry about her. She was ultimately the one who brought me to this. She realized..." "That you're more demonic than you're willing to admit?" laughed Sojan. Briefly, Lyran stopped and looked at him in amazement. "What do you mean by that?" "You need multiple partners. Now that your demon side is bursting out, more than before." Sojan could watch something change in Lyran. No matter what it was that was going on in that head, it caused his skin color to definitely change to blue. Lyran's gaze clearly became more animalistic, and if Sojan didn't have too much wine after all, demon horns began to form at Lyran's temples. The worst part was, it turned Sojan on even more. As aroused as he already was, one wrong move by Lyran would be enough for him to orgasm. "Something like that," Lyran replied in a rough voice. He bent over again and this time made a move on Sojan's neck. Sojan tried to put his hands on Lyran's back, but was stopped. A moment later Lyran had his hands locked over him with one hand. "Oh no, we're playing by my rules. I know what makes you tick, Sojan." "Oh, really?" "You're not the dominant guy during sex. You forget that I've seen you. I know how much you love to relinquish control." A comforting shiver ran through Sojan. Lyran slowly moved his hips with a grin Sojan felt more than saw. "You are mine tonight. You will wear my name on your lips like a prayer, a prayer that I will finally bring you salvation." The pulsing of his cock only grew more violent. "Fuck, what are you doing to me?" Sojan's eyes rolled back in his head. "Anything I want." Sojan growled out. Knowing that this was sure to go all night, what Lyran had started, a grin stole onto Sojan's face. "But only if I let it." The next moment he broke free of Lyran's grip, much to Lyran's surprise. It could be seen that Lyran had always been the stronger one in such situations so far and had not expected it, and even less that Sojan would just get up with him like that. They fell on the table. The empty cups fell to the carpet below. Sojan took the moment Lyran needed to sort out his thoughts and tossed his tunic toward the work table, undoing the ties that held his pants together. Lyran looked up, only to have his gaze linger on Sojan's erection. Sojan looked at him questioningly, and just a breath later Lyran's lips, which had been giving him lewd pictures only minutes before, were around his cock and began sucking it mercilessly dry. It didn't take long after all the foreplay and pent-up desire for Sojan to cum. A glance at Lyran showed him that the host was just amused by it. "We should continue this elsewhere," he just grinned cheekily. Sojan just nodded. He was sure Lyran had no intention of sleeping that night. How they found their way to the guest room Sojan held wasn't entirely clear to Sojan, but no sooner had the door closed behind them than Lyran had overpowered him and pinned him against a wall. "My turn," Lyran growled in Sojan's ear. Just from that, his body reacted again.

It had been clear to Sojan that he could not avoid Lyran forever in his own house, but he had hoped that it would be longer than a day. Hope was gone when they both ran into each other in the stables, checking on their horses. "So this is where you've been all along," Lyran rejoiced when he saw him. Sojan instead didn't know what to do. "Not all the time. I've made some preparations." "You also expect her to strike soon." Sojan just nodded. Silently, he groomed his horse, trying to ignore Lyran as he did so. If it hadn't been for the fact that he started humming. It was somehow always the same with bards, but it made Sojan smile. Probably that was why he always kind of fell for the artists. "What are you thinking about?" asked Lyran, suddenly standing next to him. "I was just thinking that someday I'm going to severely regret my weakness for artists." With narrowed eyes, Lyran looked at him questioningly. "Are you regretting that night? Are you avoiding me?"
Sojan tried not to look to the side, but with each moment Lyran looked at him that way, it became harder. He exhaled deeply and cleared his throat. "Look, Lyran, I know you've probably been torturing yourself forever, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel any different, but..." "If you say it was a mistake now, I'll strangle you with your horse's reins." "Then the problem with Asmolea would also be solved..." He had only spoken softly, but from Lyran's widened eyes he realized it was loud enough. "You don't mean that." "I don't. I just... fuck, this was all so much easier with that fucking block." The brush flew into the corner and came to rest with a clatter. One of the other horses complained about being so startled. Lyran followed with his eyes, then looked back at Sojan. "You said you would be honest with me. Be it now." He had stepped closer and Sojan could detect the smell of wine soap on Lyran. Cautiously, Lyran's fingers sought Sojan's wrist. The pleading look took Sojan's breath away. "I haven't gotten serious with anyone in a long time, and I don't know if I can. I don't want to see a loved one die again. It was fine as long as it was just to tease you. But now... I don't know. Seems like I've set myself up." Sojan's hands rubbed over his face, followed by a crick in his neck and a sigh. Lyran pulled him over to the large box where the blankets for the horses were kept and dragged him down to sit. "Beloved person?" he asked quietly. A nod was Sojan's only response. "How, when?" "I don't know. That's probably why Mother gave me the block," Sojan sighed as if the world weighed on his shoulders. "What block?" "A kind of mental chastity belt. In case you didn't catch it, she's a mage as well. Arritit was kind enough to remove it a few days ago." Lyran chewed on his lower lip, his gaze sideways to the floor. "You had your heart set on me back at the ball, didn't you?" "Yes." "What is it with us?" looked Lyran up. The look was serious, but also confused. "I can only guess." "Then guess, please." Again Sojan exhaled deeply. "It happens that demonic instincts strike immediately. They make us settle on the person who is good for us at that moment." "I don't understand." Lyran's curls swirled around his face as he shook his head. "It forces us to grow. To change things about ourselves that aren't good for us anymore." "But..." The hand went back and forth between them both. Sojan smirked. "Obviously, we both have some things to work on in the area of relationships." "But you said beloved. You have deeper feelings. How does that fit together." "I don't. I haven't heard of that either. But I'm certainly not going to ask Mother." "Then let's ask Arritit. I want... no, I need to know if this is with us ..." "Yes?", Sojan urged him to continue. "Whether it's real." "You understand now why I've been avoiding you?" Lyran rolled his eyes. "I'm afraid so." There was a twitch in Sojan's arm, but he suppressed the impulse to touch Lyran's face. That would only make things worse. He could read in Lyran's face that he felt the same way. Why did it all have to get so complicated. Mithelia's loud cursing brought them out of their thoughts. Immediately they jumped up and looked for her. Quickly they found her. Hedanro was standing in the room, as was Astrina. Arritit joined them from another corner of the house. "What's going on?" "This!" Mithelia threw a note on the table. With a few big steps, Lyran was beside her and took the note. Sojan kept a little distance. One never knew. "With blood on its hands and hope in its heart, the nightingale sings its last notes. The bird's choice is simple and also stark: his own blood or the enemy's neck he cracks," Lyran read aloud. Sojan understood only half of it, but it was clear from Lyran's reaction alone what was meant: either he kills Sojan or Kiregia will die. "That snake!" cursed Mithelia again, "That fucking spawn of a bad play." "That's putting it nicely," Arritit interjected, "I'd find other words." "Nismo?", Hedanro looked to Lyran. "My desk. The left side, second drawer from
the top. It has a false bottom. Underneath are addressed letters. Make sure they are distributed immediately." Astrina hugged him with a worried look. "What are you going to do?" "I'm going to visit my aunt. Mithelia?" "My people will follow you armed to the teeth and beyond." "Do we have the time?" inquired Sojan. Lyran handed him the note. The handover was to be in three days. Grimly, Sojan looked up. "Where does your aunt live?" "Not far out. Half a day's ride at a normal pace." "Take Sojan with you. We must expect anything," Astrina admonished with an expression on her face that spoke of murder and mayhem. Now Sojan was sure she knew what Lyran had been doing all these years. For a moment, his heart went out to her. Not only would she have supported her husband all these years, she could stand to grow old where Lyran still looked young. But there was no time for that now. "Sojan?" asked Lyran uncertainly. "I'll saddle your horses. We have to be quick." "Thank you." The commotion could still be heard as far as the stables. The horses whinnied excitedly and pawed their legs. Sojan had his trouble calming them down, so he could saddle the two mares without a problem.

Shadow Play Part 13
Tumblr media
We have a plan, don't we? At least, that is what Sojan and Lyran think now. If it wouldn't be for their hearts running wild and the women in their surrounding noticing it. Now it is Lyran's turn to get pestered.

More under the cut.
With a plan, calmer and more relaxed, Lyran sat in front of the small fireplace in his mansion that evening. Livel was bouncing around excitedly at the prospect of an adventure with his parents, and Lyran could only congratulate Philyra for the way she had explained it to the boy. Mithelia sat next to him, of course taking advantage of getting something proper to eat and how much Livel loved his great aunt. It could have been a pleasant family evening, if only Asmolea's actions didn't hang over them like dark shadows. Once the boy was in bed, Lyran took advantage of it to check on Astrina once again. The healer had told him that she would probably sleep through until the next morning, but it didn't hurt to check again. To his surprise, she opened her eyes and smiled at him as he sat down next to her on the bed. "Longing?" she asked weakly. "I just wanted to make sure everything was all right." Astrina made a move to sit up. The sound of clothing told Lyran that someone else was in the room, and shortly Mithelia was standing with him, helping Astrina up. "You here too? Must be serious." He could only admire it with how much humor Astrina saw the whole thing. "Let's just say I can't leave the family alone. How are you?" "If I had the strength, I'd break Asmolea's neck." The angry look on her face said it all. "She's fine," Lyran chuckled with relief. He took Astrina's hand in his and squeezed it. "I'll stay with you a little longer." "I certainly hope so. What am I going to do without you?" "Get on Philyra's nerves?" All three had to laugh at Astrina's suggestion. "We'll see about that when the time comes. Get some rest. That was way too close." "Lucky for me, I drink so slowly..." Lyran kissed her on the cheek and stood up. "I have a few things to get ready. I'll be back later." "Of course you will." He wondered if Astrina was taking it so lightly because she knew he would worry more if she didn't, or because she knew, as a human, her days were already numbered even without Asmolea's actions. With a sigh, he stopped in the hallway. "Mithelia, tell me how bad is it?" he heard Astrina ask. "We have to get rid of Asmolea. She's dragging the whole kingdom into renewed turmoil with her actions." "That's not what I meant." "What then?" wondered Mithelia. Lyran didn't know what else Astrina could mean either. Tensely, he listened. "You were talking to someone, and I think it's the one Lyran was supposed to kill, isn't it?" "Hmm..." "It's more than no way to accomplish the mission, isn't it?" The blood froze in Lyran's veins. Did Astrina suspect that he was deceiving her? He heard Mithelia's heavy sigh. "I don't know, but if you ask me, there's something between Lyran and Sojan that's intangible. Maybe I'll get a little smarter later. There's nothing better than sisters ready to blab out all their brothers' embarrassing moments." "Says the right one," Astrina laughed, causing a coughing fit. A little relieved, Lyran went into the study. Only he had to intercept Mithelia before she left and investigate what exactly she meant. In front of him were the files of his spies and informants. Now all he had to do was make sense of it all and summarize it into a short report for Sojan. After that, it was a matter of contacting each of Mendis' former companions so that they could have Kiregia publicly acknowledged by Mendis. The only question was how Mendis would react to this proposal, and it was to be hoped that it was better than Mithelia's reaction hours before. At the thought of how she was about to take apart the furnishings in the guesthouse, he couldn't help but laugh. "What's so funny?" Mithelia came in and sat down on the small piece of table that was still free. He glanced up only briefly and rolled his eyes. "I was wondering if Mendis will react the way you did earlier. In any case, if that's the case, it will be enough to get him to participate in our plan." She pressed her lips together and nodded. "Even if no one can ever know. Even if he weren't the first king to get rid of his wife." "You mustn't forget, though, no
queen has ever caused such an uproar as she has. Asmolea is endangering the whole country, and the way I see it, it's only because she wants to be sole queen." Lyran took one of the letters from his spies and handed it over to her. Mithelia read over it quickly. She had to teach him how to do this again sometime, it would make his life much easier. "So her brothers have all passed away recently, huh?" "There is currently no one available to continue the trading business besides a younger uncle, but if she is queen, she can. Or she can appoint one of her sisters to do it. Depending on what she prefers." "I'm sure this snake will do it herself. Probably still send out privateers like others before her." With more force than was necessary, Mithelia slammed the letter down on the table. A few sheets flew up, but landed back on their stacks. "That's to be feared, and we know something like that makes trade difficult. But I don't think it's just because of her family. Asmolea just suffers from delusions of grandeur." He fell back in the heavy leather-covered chair and looked at his sister. "I'm afraid so too, and that's why I want to keep Kiregia out of it. The child suffers enough from everything." "Asmolea will eventually find out who Kiregia is and then she will be in danger. So we can take action before then," Lyran reminded her, leaning forward again, "Mithelia, I don't want to use her like that either. If it had been up to me, we would have sent her far away to Janit or someone else where she can grow up in peace." She sighed and nodded. "But Mendis didn't want it and ..." Lyran stood up and took her in his arms. "Thilly, you're a good mother. You did what was right for Kiregia." "Even if she doesn't know who I am. I know how hard this is." Mithelia looked at him seriously. "Then let's change that now." A faint smile appeared on her face. "Thank you, I needed that." "That's what I'm here for, isn't it?" "You mean besides giving me a headache?", Mithelia teased him. Irritated, he frowned and tilted his head. "What am I supposed to have done now?" She broke free of his embrace and stood up. He didn't like the smirk on her face; it meant she knew something he didn't, or something equally bad. "The question is not what you did, but what you didn't. Melisno, I have eyes in my head. Something about Sojan attracts you like light attracts moths." He rubbed his lower face with one hand and looked skeptically at her. "I wouldn't say that." "Then what?" "I don't know." Lyran went back to his chair and fell heavily into it as if the weight of all Wealmoores were on him. "You don't know? Even though even Astrina has already noticed?" Mithelia walked around the desk and pulled a chair with her. First she pulled Lyran around, and then she sat down. "So now between us two orphans, I know except for Astrina and Mendis there was never anything with anyone. I also know that contrary to what you tell yourself, you've never really been in love with them." Lyran opened his mouth to object, but Mithelia cut him off with a gesture. "No, let me finish. Astrina is your childhood sweetheart, yeah sure, but you said yourself once you don't know how far your shared past matters. She's not stupid, she thinks the same way. Why do you think she wasn't angry when it happened with Mendis? Even though it's still weird that we both had something with him. That's so truly weird." "Ask me about it," Lyran laughed, "That's something that no one outside of this family should ever know." Mithelia hummed in agreement. "But that aside. I think you care about Sojan more than you realize. And he's a demon. You don't have to hide. We both know we'll soon reach the age when our demon blood comes into its own." He screwed up his face. That was something he didn't really want to be reminded of in this situation. She squeezed his hand and stood up. "Just think about it. I'm going to go squeeze Arritit." Lyran gave an agonized groan. "By Yohrir, if I didn't know you had no such interest in women, I'd be worried right now." Mithelia merely winked at him. "We're still
young. Who knows what will turn up?" "Thykedis, get me now, right now." "Not so dramatic. See you in the morning. I've already let Hedanro know I'm staying here for a few days." "Thanks." "We're family, that's what you do." She saluted playfully and was gone. Somehow Lyran had to admit she was right. If he had never been sold to the Golden Cage and had to clean up for everything there as a boy, he would never have met Astrina, who had also been sold by her family. If not for the Golden Cage, he would also never have found his way to the Royal Theater, where he had been discovered. But the greatest coincidence of all was that Astrina and he were so connected by their escape from the Golden Cage that no one intervened. Perhaps what they thought was love was something else after all. Thoughtfully, he looked to the side and surveyed the pile of information. No matter what it was about him and Astrina, at the moment it was more important to keep the kingdom stable. Everything else could and had to wait.
