Six Sentence Sunday
Am I about to give up my plans to write more than just this piece for OC Kiss Week? Yes, I am. So have some more Sojan and Lyran
"I wonder why Parin is so caring," Lyran mused aloud. "It's the nature of giant wolves. In a pack, no one is left behind, and both parents take care of the young. He probably sees our injured friend as a child who needs help," Sojan explained simply. Even if he had to admit that it surprised him, when Parin usually had more the behavior of an oversized puppy. Sojan couldn't help but watch from the fire as Lyran and Parin tried to lure the injured giant wolf further into the camp, wondering which of the three would give up first. The answer came quicker than expected as Lyran walked slowly backward and the wolf followed cautiously.

"Beauty and the Beast: A Tale of Empathy"
Once upon a time in a quaint village, there lived a young woman named Belle. Known for her kindness and love of books, she found herself entangled in an unexpected twist of fate when her father stumbled upon a mysterious castle in the heart of the forest. The castle, however, was not just any castle; it was home to a cursed prince who had been transformed into a beast due to his selfish and callous nature.
The traditional tale unfolds as Belle arrives at the castle in exchange for her father's freedom. She learns to see beyond the Beast's exterior, and as time passes, love blossoms, breaking the curse and restoring the prince to his human form. However, in this alternate ending, the narrative takes a nuanced approach, exploring deeper themes of empathy, personal growth, and societal transformation.
As Belle navigates life in the enchanted castle, she discovers the Beast's tragic past, filled with loneliness and regret. Instead of merely falling in love with him, she becomes a catalyst for change, encouraging the Beast to confront his past mistakes and make amends. Together, they embark on a journey of self-discovery, seeking redemption not just for the Beast but for the entire kingdom suffering under the curse.
In this adaptation, the enchanted objects in the castle play a more active role in breaking the curse. The sentient teapot, Mrs. Potts, the charismatic candelabra, Lumière, and others unite with Belle and the Beast to heal the wounds of the past. They organize town hall meetings with the enchanted villagers, promoting understanding and forgiveness.
As the Beast learns to empathize with others and takes responsibility for his actions, the curse begins to lift. Simultaneously, the enchanted objects transform back into their human forms, revealing their personal stories and the impact of the curse on their lives.
Review:
"Beauty and the Beast: A Tale of Empathy" is a compelling reinterpretation of the classic fairy tale, delving into themes of personal growth, redemption, and societal change. In observing the film adaptation, it is evident that the socio-cultural influences on this tale have shaped a narrative that goes beyond the traditional boundaries of romance.
The film's exploration of empathy as a central theme resonates with contemporary values, emphasizing the importance of understanding and compassion in the face of adversity. The character development of Belle and the Beast takes center stage, providing a more human-like depth to their relationship. Belle's role as a catalyst for change, pushing the Beast to confront his past and seek redemption, adds layers of complexity to the narrative.
Visually, the film captures the enchanting atmosphere of the castle and the surrounding village, creating a rich and immersive world for the audience. The use of magical realism to represent societal transformation through the enchanted objects adds a unique and visually appealing dimension to the storytelling.
The alternate ending justifies itself by offering a more nuanced resolution to the tale. Rather than relying solely on the transformative power of romantic love, the narrative encourages personal growth, empathy, and collective action. The focus on the enchanted objects as active participants in breaking the curse aligns with contemporary values of unity and community.
Socio-cultural influences are evident in the film's exploration of redemption and forgiveness. The tale reflects a shift towards narratives that emphasize accountability for one's actions and the potential for positive change. This adaptation serves as a commentary on the transformative power of empathy not just within individual relationships but also on a societal level.
"Beauty and the Beast: A Tale of Empathy" stands as a testament to the evolution of fairy tales in response to changing cultural norms. By delving into deeper themes and offering a more human-like portrayal of characters, the film successfully navigates the delicate balance between tradition and innovation. This adaptation encourages audiences to reflect on the importance of empathy and personal growth, making it a thought-provoking and socially relevant reimagining of a beloved classic.

Sometimes I don't like past me.
I remembered I started translation Blood Night 2 years ago for posting it here, only to realize what I translated was draft 1.
By now, I am in draft 4.
The whole translation is for nothing because scenes moved, sentences got rewritten or cut, other scenes cut out completely.
So, I need to start from scratch.
Here is to me hoping I could spare a little work.

Hi Pause, I just take your offer to let me rant about my WIP. It's called "Guild Hunter Sojan" and the titular MC is a lust demon who decided to live as human and hunt down monsters to protect the settlements. The story starts with him coming into a small town with the guild house he claimed his home long ago and Sojan just wanting to take some well deserved rest. Of course, nothing is as he wished and besides meeting up with his sister, and saving a bard who immediately saw an opportunity to witness big adventures, Sojan soon learns his megalomaniac father is up to no good again, and it is up to him, his sister and said bard to find help where they can to stop the plans. It all started with a stupid idea, no plan at all and I pants my way through it, making all the worldbuilding notes and stuff along the way. (Ironically, my new-found love for bookbinding came in handy here with making lots of notebooks and a nice covering thing to keep it all together) I just love to discover the story along the way and the bard Lyran is always good for some epic lines, even if everyone rightfully wants to hug him. And it already sparked so many more stories where I continue the adventures and an AU lol. It is inspired by The Witcher, the Monster Hunter Games and a bit Dragon Age.
FIRST OF ALL I love bards, they are the best
Secondly, I love that you bind your own notebooks! That's really, really cool. I always wanted to get into it but I was too intimidated.
I'm curious to hear why Sojan decided to live as a human instead! Was the demon life just not for him? (Too chaotic, too violent, too messy, something like that?) I'm also intrigued about him and his sister having to go up against their father, that will probably be incredibly difficult for them!
I am also a total pantser, and the only reason I have any idea at all what I'm doing is because @ohsugarfoot lets me ramble half baked ideas at her while we're driving places, haha. Discovering the story along the way is part of the fun for me, too. Some parts I do have planned out but others just happen as they happen :p
