— 2. Who are your longest rp friends? in 2008 i joined bulbagarden (forum from the pokemon wiki bulbapedia) and met a guy who also rped and had similar irl interests. i joined an rp forum with that guy in 2010, was in and out until he left in 2014 and we kept in contact. didn't rp after that, but we are absolutely still friends to this day and send each other pokemon things, talk about current fandoms, etc. probably my 2nd oldest friend i keep up with in general, tbh.
— 6. NOTP for your muse? tyl!byakuran/anyone LOL. in all seriousness, i really can't wrap my head around byakuran/uni in any romantic/nsfw sense… like even besides the massive age/experience gap from before, i only see them as emotionally close in a platonic sense?
i still enjoy poly tsuna/uni/byakuran from the trinisette trio flavor, but that's also kind of conditional and if tsuna wasn't there i don't think i can see it. imo, just not a dynamic that would exist without tsuna there, if that makes sense.
in other news, shoichi/byakuran isn't a NOTP so much as i'm just really tired of him being the Only one i see people ship with byakuran. they're just so much more fun as best friends? platonic soulmates? partners in crime? balance each other out, etc.
hmm. maybe i just struggle shipping with characters that knew him really well in TYL. funeral wreaths are a struggle too. a current!genkishi would be super difficult to make work but i did have an idea a long while back. BUT WAIT. gamma or spanner 👀
— 7. What are some similarities between you and your muse/muses? i am super weird too. independent. we both have terrible diets. i will eat 3 muffins in one day instead of lunch/dinner if i have them in my room. most obviously, adhd.
— 12. What’s one random headcanon about your muse that people mightn’t know? (at the end/under the cut)
— 14. What do you look for in a rp partner? for longer plots/threads/verses? i love people who can generally match my enthusiasm or come up with ideas or has enough time to talk about it here and there. also love it when partners can take a bit of initiative in keeping it going too.
for just small threads? anyone who reaches out, really. i like almost everyone lmao, rping is included.
— 16. Least favourite trope? i don't know if it counts as a trope but i just don't really like seeing how many people only focus on him in a very dominant role in ships? it's just preference. there is nothing wrong with it and it makes sense for TYL byakuran anyway, but it's a least favorite for sure. (it's in part because it's the only way i ever see in fanart. i am Tired just thinking about it.)
— 17. Are there any AU’s you’d like to explore but haven’t had the chance to yet? i have a specific immortal!byakuran fantasy au that i want to use as a verse someday but not sure if i'll have the chance tbh. might have talked about it before?
the tl;dr is he became a pseudo-deity with six others but was kicked out of the makeshift-pantheon a long time ago. he was stuck with his immortality/power and was left to wander the world like that.
— 18. Do you listen to music whilst writing? If so, what kind of music? i can only listen to music while writing if i loop one song and know exactly how it goes. usually it just ends up being either a song for the atmosphere or a song i'm currently addicted to. picking music gets distracting tbh.
moved 12 since it mentions nsfw. it's under the cut.
— 12. What’s one random headcanon about your muse that people mightn’t know? on account of not doing nsfw, i don't really mention it lol. i do have gray-asexual on there for this interpretation, but the ace part is really apparent. there is that he had more than enough abuse of that variety. now he just doesn't care, doesn't see a point, nonexistent drive. if i did any nsfw it would be focused on the partner bc i'm sure he'd remember how to Do Things like that from all those different lives.
the gray part is that i think he would try if thats what a partner wanted? i think he'd be okay if he trusts/loves someone enough (demiromantic) but probably not often.
would also like to mention you don't see me doing any nsfw on this blog because he is only 15 and 18 in the two main verses. that speaks for itself, i hope? i guess post-canon 10YL or college-age verse or something might work, but still not on tumblr.

monster thoughts: loloska
popo | name: Nana | prior familiarity: none i can’t belive this thing’s fuckin name is popo. third verse same as the first re: herbivores. unfortunately just a run of the mill fantasy mammoth, all you did was take the base animal’s most notable trait and skew it a little differently. 5/10
zamite/trios | name: Blastin’ | prior familiarity: plenty slapping a shark’s body onto some amphibian legs is a bold but surprisingly great pull. it works! really strong shapes, great color accenting, looks even cooler with ice armor. i’m not sure if it’s a great tactic for something with thin stretchy amphibian skin to go around rolling over stuff that’s as hard, sharp, and spiky as most of the other monsters in this series but i guess it works for him? bad to look at tho. 8/10 zamite is very good too, they’ve got a cute stance and i really like their armor. it’s a bit weird to me they lose it by the time they get to being zamtrios, but i do appreciate that trios’ ice armor takes more or less the same shape as zamite’s plating. different enough to get its own rating, 8.5/10, pet material *there’s a beta concept of zamtrios where it’s a basking shark and holy Shit why wasn’t that in as final. that makes so much more visual sense with the balloon thing....i guess i can understand it as a frog vocal sac played a little differently but i just like the basking shark way more lmao.
great/baggi | name: Scooter |prior familiarity: only its battle theme lol third verse same as the first re: theropods. while the visual flavor is at least different enough from jaggi to be distinct, it still uses the same base and animations so it’s like. eh. jaggi/10
lagombi | name: Shredder |prior familiarity: somewhat as an infamous hater of rabbits and rabbit-based designs, lagombi is actually pretty good. really dig the whole streamlined facial situation and the belly sled is a fun, if annoying to deal with, gimmick. brown fur ridges are a little silly and unnecessary imo but that’s a nitpick. looks absolutely ridiculous using its dash anywhere but on snow. 7.5/10
nargacuga | name: Betty |prior familiarity: plenty despite being one i liked a lot before playing any games, i just don’t have much attachment to this thing here? another whose flavor is probably hit pretty hard by stories’ rpg format; don’t get to see it do its cool nighttime ninja stuff. sleek solid design, nothing too wild but it accomplishes its idea very nicely. also it’s funny so much of its flavor is dedicated to being... cat. 7.5/10
barroth | name: FudgeCake |prior familiarity: none how is this thing speed type? that’s a fuckin Rock bro. definitely one of the Cool-type designs, but has a decent amount of its own flavor. lots of fun stuff going on with the face but weirdly the part i like the most is the growth ring sorta circles on the top of its crest thing. barroth succeeds where yian-kut-ku fails at having the head be the only really ‘special’ looking part with an otherwise fairly basic body. also really dig the way its coloring is done in stories. 7/10 jade barroth [name: Radio] is a very cool thing to run into the first time, but i generally prefer the standard colors
anjanath | name: Sarahhhh | prior familiarity: plenty that’s my MANS. ok look ive been giving the smaller theropods and the dinosaurs in general a lot of shit; and anjanath is, for all intents, Kind Of Just A T-Rex, but the thing is....... i just rly like anjanath ok. it’s the little things i think. the sunken fleshy look. the mouth that opens slightly too far. the funny furred ankle socks which i 100% did not know were a thing until seeing it in stories. just the general fact they made a pink ass t-rex. more than anything though i am always a slut for any kind of ‘movable’ or ‘hidden’ stuff on a design. if the nose cone and sails were there all the time as part of the default look i wouldn't care about them half as much but oohoooo babey seeing ‘em pop out when you know that thing is PISSED and ready to kill. ohohohohoho. awesome accenting to an already great design & i love that she is so pissed. 10/10
gypceros | name: Dorothy | prior familiarity: none uh oh lads this one is kind of bad. stiff and plastic-y looking body, unflattering colors, inexplicably mismatched ugly tail. i’d be totally willing to accept the tail if it had a Function, but without one the amount of visual emphasis on it as a distinct Part just feels misleading. i also do not like its teeth. the mechanism for its blinding/flashing gimmick is pretty neat but nothing else seems to gel with it, though i do appreciate the detail of its eyes being shot from the light.  2/10
conga/lala | name: Boober |prior familiarity: none turns out 'boob’ isn’t allowed as a name. the claws definitely feel unnecessary and detrimental, and hippo/ape is a really really unfortunate combo for me [both some of my least favorite animals irl]. the bizzarely bright pink/green and the farts are 100% not helping anything either. that chopping chattering noise it makes with its teeth is pretty neat but aside from that....ugh. 4/10 the design is decent enough but please go away
kecha wacha | name: Joe |prior familiarity: none EMPHATICALLY no familiarity. absolutely the guy who’s surprised me most. what the hell is that thing i am being attacked by a washcloth. during most of the fight i was unsure what to make of it but the ears thing made me instantly go oh this freak fucking rules [see previous: movable parts on a design lmao]. a delightfully unique face and it wears the bright colors very well. very hard to get me to like a monkey-based design but he absolutely has it. 9.5/10
nerscylla | name: Schroder |prior familiarity: none always hard to rate video game bugs. when they’re not being incredibly derivative, a lot of them tend to be over-complex and hard to parse without a lot of actual flavor, and i can’t really give them too much shit for it because irl bugs are also frequently complex and hard to parse. nerscylla falls to the latter category; it’s definitely Cool but it’s so hard to get a feel for it unless you’re seeing it in motion. that said, the crystals and helmet-looking head are cool, the mandibles are.... silly but well-utilized, and putting skin/webbing Between its legs is kind of a wild move that really helps give it its own identity. bit of a coward’s move to give it only 4 legs but tbh i would not want to model and animate more than that either so it’s whatever. funny how much better gypceros’ colors look on this thing than actual gypceros. 8.5/10
rathain | name: Chikn |prior familiarity: plenty actually i’m using this spot to talk about the about the story rathalos bc i forgot about him on the last post just like i do ingame :^) you’re not allowed to name your wimpy-winged child but in my heart his name is potato. rathalos is an impressively cool design, but i don’t have much to say about it since it’s kind of not doing anything besides Being A Really Cool Dragon. the wing shapes and patterns are definitely neat, but on the whole it gets outshined by the more out there concepts for me. i also dont particularly like how its face looks in stories jkfdjkgh. 7.5/10 rathain’s green is kinda gross and i don’t like the chin spike so she gets docked half a point despite getting to keep the cool wings.
khezu | name: Plumpp | prior familiarity: plenty why does it SNIIIIIFFFFFFF like that it doesnt even have nostrils... missed potential for some weird ass smell sensory organ i think. longer thoughts in another post; i don’t have anything against the design but it’s very not my thing. also since then i have learned it has wet schlorping noises for footsteps which is like Augh. 7/10. red khezu [name:Velvet] is silly looking in a fun way but i think white does the aesthetic better.
tobi-kadachi |name: Prius | prior familiarity: plenty goodbye forever ranmar lol. FUN guy this one, real spunky lookin’. viper/squirrel is a very random pick and i feel like there also might be some owl or maybe cat in its movements? at any rate it all works together super well and i love pretty much every part of this thing. it’s got the same alternating rows of fur and spines thing as zinogre and i have to wonder if there’s some specific thing they’re referencing with that motif... the skin flaps feel pretty tacked-on, and while flying squirrels and gliding snakes Do exist, i feel tobi’s tall stance and the way its legs are built makes it parse more like a cheetah. no harm in ‘em being there though, they’re still fun.   9/10
barioth | name: Teacup |prior familiarity: somewhat #2 silly running animation goes to this guy. i definitely like barioth but i don’t have much to say about it? kitty. fangs are good+strong as a defining trait, the back plating is great, color scheme is really nice. 8/10
legiana | name: Altair | prior familiarity: plenty i honestly... have no clue what this thing is supposed to be. hawk/nudibranch? whatever it is it fucking rules, all around incredibly fun and unique shapes painted in stunning colors and accenting. trying to find anything more specific to say about it but it just comes back to its shapes are soooo gooooood. 10/10
seltas/queen are the only unrideables so no cut lol. ok so monhun also has this thing of making guys walk on thier knuckles with part of the limb folded back inwards and it bothers me. kecha, congala, any wyvern that uses its forelimbs to walk; it just looks so uncomfortable, especially when there doesn’t seem to be any kind of specialization on most of them for being able to safely put so much weight on a joint [wyverns at least have wingfeet usually but...]. seltas queen is absolutely the worst about this. WHY do the feet bend inwards!!! it looks not uncomfortable but unstable! you’re rollin all around on those things! just have them bend outwards like a normal bug you literally don’t need to change how they're built at all! that aside this duo and their sword/shield motif rules. seltas is a bit hard to parse just ‘cause it has like no thorax area for the relatively large legs to attach, but tbh it doesn’t matter ‘cause the head crest thing is all it has and needs. seltas queen is just TANKED from every angle and i love that shit. the way the pincer mandible things puzzle piece with the upper shell and hide most of its body w just the eyes peeking though, while still being mobile. mwa. big fan also of how the top is just, flat. like its just fucking flat. the tail feels a little unnecessary, but i’ll admit that’s probably just my bias for mech-walker style quadrupeds speaking [gigalith is my fave pokemon lol] since it lessens that look. regardless, it’s a perfectly cool feature and there’s nothing actually wrong with it being there.  9/10, incredibly funny they hit you with a monster that can also use ride on+kinship attacks

so i saw tros again
i decided to take notes while i watched so here ya go
*spoilers ahead*
opening sequence is great, it really sets up the film, we don't know what's in store but they give us some ideas. not sure i loved seeing palpatine or even palps being alive, would have been cooler if he was some kind of poltergeist-y sith demon, also, kylo was on mustafar? we ain't gonna talk about that? ok
skipping to rey and leia, first, i hate the leia scenes, they seem creepy and overdone and not genuine, anyway, why didn't rose go with the trio to pasana? why don't we see more of rose? why am i screaming? aaaaand more creepy leia speaking vaguely to rey
now KOR and kylo fixing his helmet *eyeroll* and now the first order finding out about a SPY!!!!! how utterly stupid and it's literally a plot line from a fANFIC!!!! WHY
the trio on pasana, rey looking at the children longingly always kills me, bc she ends up alone without ben, when the only thing she wanted was a family, this is BAD LUV!!!! "i don't have one yet (a family), i'm just rey," that's what she should have said
rey and kylo first force bond, LOVE IT
lando i guess? i mean i get it but i don't at the same time, i love lando tho so i'm not complaining
i don't really hate anything about pasana, just wish rose was there with them, feels weird and wrong, that's my only complaint
WHAT WAS THE REASON OF FINN WANTING TO TELL REY SOMETHING BEFORE THEY "DIED" WHAT WAS THE REASON!!!!!!! THEY NEVER ACTUALLY TOUCH ON IT AGAIN
ok i love poe and finn bantering, but we didn't get one ounce of real finnpoe interaction
how does 3p0 have more lines than rose? it makes my brain hurt
why didn't we get more of KOR? like? what the fuck?
rey senses kylo, she said "everyone shut the fuck up im thinking"
chewie getting captured makes so sense to me but yeah
why didnt the trio just leave? why didn't rey just tell them that kylo was coming and that they needed to gtfo? when does this film start making sense? chewie wouldn't have been captured!!!!
rey trying to pull back the ship should have been like foreshadowing to us finding out that rey actually killed her parents, but no, she ends up being related to palpatine? make it make sense pls
i love zorii but i could care less about her and poe's romantic history
rey in kylos bedroom, LOVE THAT
JODIE COMER AS REYS MOM IS KINDA PERFECT BUT REYS PARENTS ARE SUPPOSE TO BE SHITTY SO IDK HOW TO FEEL
the way they made hux the spy......the way i hate it so much, hux should have been our other main bad guy, the way hux only wanted to be a spy to destroy kylo, FUCKING PETTY AND STUPIDDDD
rey sweetie i'm so sorry
this scene could have been so powerful if kylo said "rey we aren't so different, i know you killed your parents, the darkness is already in you, just take my hand" BITCH WTF I SHOULD HAVE WROTE THIS MOVIE BUT ANYWAY!!!!
"everybody thinks that they know me, no one does" or "i killed my parents, its been haunting me ever since" SHE HAS DARKNESS JUST LIKE BEN!!!!! THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN A SERVE BUT JJ IS A FUCKING CLOWN AND COWARD
i loved jannah, would have love to see her with rose, but jj is a fucking idiot
finn not being able to let rey do things on her own is SUUUUPER annoying and why i kinda hate his character in this film, it's a year later, ITS CALLED CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT LUV!!!!!
the dark!rey with sharp teeth sends me, what the fuck is dis hunny
"the dark side is in our nature" loved this, if only she wasn't a palpatine and actually killed her parents, THE FLAVOR
ok rey and kylo fighting, i get it, leia calling out to her son bc he's "going to kill her" when that's not what he wants, he's deflecting all her strikes, wtf? rey implailing kylo mAKES NO SENSE!? SHE DOESNT WANNA KILL HIM EITHER? WHY DID SHE DO THAT!? she should have accidentally grazed his arm, then forced healed, wtf is this movie, i ask again (ok i did some digging on this scene and someone said that rey is metaphorically killing kylo ren, which yes i love this, but it still erks me)
rey, i guess metaphorically, redeemed kylo, he's ben now, she gave him life force, he should have lived after he brought back rey, AGAIN WTF (i'm so stupid you guys know this lol)
han and ben......IT MAKES ME SAD BUT HAPPY!! i loved this scene so much, he really looks like ben solo here, he's so confused but he knows that kylo is over with, he's ben now, rey gave him the light he needed, WTFFFHSJDJSKDKJS.... "dad...." "i know" HI IM CRYIBG LSKSKSKSKKS
DOMHNALL GLEESON SWEETIE IM SO SORRY THIS IS NOT WHAT YOU DESERVED YOUR CHARACTER WAS FANTASTIC THEY DID YOU SO DIRTY #justiceforhux
rey chucking the legacy saber into a fire and luke catching it saying hey wtf you can't do that that's so fucked up as if he didn't toss that mf over his shoulder in tlj, oh man jj really said fuck rian johnson, also leias lightsaber should have been bens, IMO
luke's x-wing just magically coming out of fucking nowhere? didn't he scrap the ship while on ach-to? hm...RIIIIIIIIGHT
chewie dead? nope. c3po memory wiped? nope. ben solo dead? yeah fuck that guy
at this point i've lost interest, i'm waiting for the reylo kiss
p*lps calling rey her granddaughter, i'm literally gonna barfffff
BEEEEEEEEEEEEN MY BABY BOOOOOYYYYY OHHH IM SUFFERING
i love him i love him i love him omfg he's so powerful and sexy, literally came to save rey without a lightsaber i love this MAN
The Shrug™
A DYAD IN THE FORCE, THEIR LIFE FORCE BOND, HELLO!!!???? AND BEN STILL DIES AND REY ENDS UP ALONE!? I CANT
ben being thrown like that by p*lp, i've never hated a villain more in my life
idk like i kinda hate that all the jedi from the past came to rey, when ben was RIGHT. FUCKING. THERE.
oh my fucking god i hate disney "i am all the sith" "and i am all the jedi"…"i am inevitable" "and i am iron man" CAN YOU COME UP WITH SOMETHING ELSE
finn sensing rey dying through the force, i want to die
ben.....crawling to rey....fuck it hurts to bad
he's been through hell hes so scared and sad i hate jj so much
the kiss......cinematic masterpiece, should have ended there, but here we are
again. REY SWEETIE IM SO SORRY, her lightsaber is cool tho
"im rey....rey skywalker" NOT YOU
YUP WORSE STAR WARS MOVIE EVER

hm-- i'm going to be the obvious one and suggest lahabrea (or hades, whichever someone hasn't already sent!)
YOU’RE IN LUCK, NEITHER HAS BEEN SENT!
LAHABREA
Tumblr media
First impression: Wow what a boring villain, very 2-D with shitty dialogue and bland motives wearing the all black spooky-like. And we are supposed to be very impressed and intimidated just like Hydaelyn. When is Heavensward?
Impression now: My friends I have 180′d and now love this poor sad loser to pieces. Emet-Selch revealing that no, Lahabrea really has been being a lameass this entire time and why the hell did we take him seriously when he had such horrendous decision-making throughout was the beginning. Seriously, I basically yelled laughing when the “crowning moment of idiocy” line happened. Because until that point the models for Ascian behavior were Mr. I-laugh-at-explosions-and-yell-about-Zodiark Lahabrea, Sir I-don’t-talk-much-but-when-I-do-it’s-about-Zodiark-and-balance Elidibus, a certain I-hate-all-these-people-because-Zodiark-likes-them-better-WAITAHOTCHICK Nabriales, Ms. I-fucked-up-and-will-never-live-it-down-so-no-longer-show-my-emotions Igeyorhm, and a couple of oneliners. None of whom have seemed overly self-aware. The second that line came out of Hades’ mouth, it became clear that YES we can judge them all and NO this is not some kind of standard Ascian behavior we should just accept. None of them have to act that way. They’re just weirdos.
Then Shadowbringers happened and there was a period of “wait how did Amaurot’s top orator turn into the Lahabrea we know” and learning that Lahabrea was weak because he kept body hopping despite knowing it was damaging him.
Aaaaand at Gamescom, bless Oda and Yoshida, they gave the single smoothest fix and I am eternally grateful. Workaholic Lahabrea is a gift. He probably doesn’t even know what he’s saying most of the time and is just trying to give the impression he knows what he’s about before dropping a monster and running off.
But then combining all the info and playing detective with past scenes he’s actually really sad. Still lame and stupid funny at times but also sad as hell when dots get connected. At this point I figure he’s motivated by guilt complexes, denial-flavored-tempering, and fear of both falling asleep because nightmares and how much blood will rest directly on him if he fails. Because I think I remember seeing that Zodiark was his idea. And literally everyone except for him, Hades, and Elidibus died in connection with that.
I think he’s a Stepford smiler in the sense that internally he is deeply, deeply fucked but he distracts himself in how ridiculous a lot of the FFXIV situations are and laughing at the resulting blow-ups. Space-dragon-ghost-explodes-out-of-the-moon-to-wreak-havoc is a hell of a thing for the history books. I also think he probably knows or assumes people don’t like him and that he deserves it. I also think that while the other two Unsundered get frustrated with him, he’s probably also been hiding the level of fucked up he still is from them in a lot of ways and they assume to varying degrees that he’s being irrational, hot-headed, arrogant, and stubborn with it. I think in actuality he’s somewhat aware but is semi-deliberately hurting himself and alternately doesn’t think he has a right to stop or is horrified by how much less capable he is after spending thousands of years essentially hurting himself through body hopping and overwork. Reprimanding him probably doesn’t work because he already has a lot of reason to detest himself. I also think he probably tries really hard not to think about himself on a personal level because once he falls into that pit he’s not getting out easily, so there’s a solid amount of repression going on too.
I could go on. He is a sad clown to me who tries to cover up how tired he is by vomiting five syllable words.
Favorite moment
See, there’s funniest moment and there’s most interesting moment. His intro at the Thousand Maws of Toto-Rak makes me giggle a lot now. Most interesting to me is possibly his exchange with Elidibus after Nabriales’ death or when he shows up late to a meeting and discreetly tries to explain why he should be allowed to work again.
Idea for a story
:[ I don’t know if I can do it because I am still very happily committed to my Hades/WoL sequel, but following the story Stalemate I did I could see a situation with that specific WoL checking the Eye post-Shinryu and freeing Lahabrea. Very scenario-specific and all but I have some ideas about that.
Unpopular opinion
Idk if unpopular so much as different?
I’ve seen a lot of Lahabrea variants that I think are really cool and interesting! Some are very serious and dignified. Some are intimidatingly hot-tempered. But for me, part of what I find intriguing are the ways he doesn’t quite add up with the persona he’s trying to portray. I also really like small, cute human elements in characters that let you fall in love with them a little. This goes even for characters I find reprehensible because IMO it’s important to take both the endearing and the appalling together when forming opinions. It’s still fiction and I don’t think it translates to “if you like a character who committed murder then you like murder” or anything. I do think though that if the audience steps back and has to say point blank whether they think the character is a good person, a bad person, or somewhere in-between (regardless of liking them) that kind of thing becomes important.
I can understand why people would write off the iffy early writing to just spin Lahabrea as a highly respectable, unflappable, untouchable dude. I definitely still enjoy stories where he’s written that way. It’s just not so much how I read him haha. I think he tries to be that but there’s a lot of comedy and tragedy going on with him internally that hits hard when embraced. And I think being assumed as immune to any kind of vulnerability or real connection would probably fuck with him a lot too. Before the Ascian we know, he was considered one of the most exemplary citizens of Amaurot. It would be weird imo if he was completely isolated even then, and seeing how he got from Point A to Point B has a ton of pathos potential.
I also like him a lot despite thinking Thancred is absolutely justified in hating his guts, but it doesn’t come up as much with me so I could see there being some ???
Favorite relationship
XD I just did a WoL/Lahabrea shipfic personal challenge so naturally that influences me a bit so far as shipping goes. That said I am a multishipper. I could see him with either of the Unsundered being interesting. I’ve seen some cute stuff with Igeyorhm too but have less strong of an opinion there currently. Non-shipping I think he’s probably closest to Elidibus, has a sort of testy relationship with Hades but they ultimately do care about each other, and possibly has some level of closeness with Igeyorhm too. I also think that Nabriales dislikes Lahabrea more than Lahabrea dislikes him and that can cause some interesting problems.
Probably in-general I’m just very here for dysfunctional Unsundered trio.
Favorite headcanon
The workaholic thing and the self-destructive thing are technically both canon. His being lame specifically because of being tired all the time I think is probably it because the rest just follows for me haha.
As a smaller, more mundane headcanon I think Lahabrea is a super ugly sleeper most of the time. Probably drools.
Will do a post for Hades too and tag it but need to do other stuff for a bit! BUT THANK YOU!

okay long time spending in gestation but I imagine that someone out of the followers I have wants to know my onion on KH3 is
Overall, good!
so consider wordbarf of very repeated and tired onions no one actually actively asked for below:
Alright so I’ve been trying to figure out how to make these words and what my opinions even are considering this game has been out for almost a year now (KH3 existing is wild imagine it turning a year old) so this will be. mostly bullet points + incoherent and unorganized rambling forgive me
BAD THINGS FIRST lets get the salt out of the way
Literally everything with Kairi was oof. I still feel her relationship with Lea is incredibly rushed given the last time they were interacting in canon he was literally kidnapping her but go off I guess nomura they’re brother/sister friendsy now at least the fandom can sell me on that better than you can. I seethe with rage recalling that they didn’t even try to hide that killing her off was a classic case of fridging (“You lack motivation” FUCK OFF) and I have been angry since the day I was spoiled by leak stuff accidentally. I wouldn’t have minded her getting her ass handed to her if they made it look like she tried and gave us some moments where she did defend herself and get some victories and not conveniently cut away from the actually badly needed training montage (surprise! this is why we have training montages!!!!) and I get she was instrumental in rescuing everyone and the fact she wasn’t THAT bad speaks for how much she improved but it still just. bites that she still feels more like a satellite love interest than ever.
Kairi was bad enough to get her own thing but tbh everyone who isn’t Sora also.. really suffers. The writing is really Sora-centric here and that’s not inherently bad (see good list) but it leaves a lot to be desired, especially since they dog pile the extended cast moments in at the end. There was no big confusion at Ven and Roxas sharing a face, no talks between characters who would have interesting interactions given their histories and circumstances, no obvious sign of development from anyone except maybe sea salt family and Aqua. They’re here to be more one-note than usual and resolve their arcs. Ven in particular (I’m totally not biased clearly /sarcasm) I feel is a big example given he was kinda in a really rough mental state at the end of bbs?? and 3 is exceptionally vague on just how conscious ventus was during his nap so I can’t even answer if he was able to give himself therapy the past 12 years or whatever
Anti Aqua is a damn cool concept but ultimately kinda pointless and I think we could have received it better if it wasn’t spoiled in trailers and wholly out of left field. Plus Sora coming in after what was pretty clearly set up as a Riku moment- while it gave us the incredibly gay press triangle to Sora + use a big keyblade made from ur love moment -was uh! really cheap!!!! and ruined what was clearly set up for being Riku’s thing with an almost nonsensical SIKE ITS SORA (it’s saved from being wholly nonsensical by 0.2′s opening foreshadowing + it still kinda makes sense for sora to at least help but damn if the narrative wasn’t leading us towards a riku moment)
Also everyone was hit really hard with the nerf effect in-narrative so unless you’re the dream team you’re screwed I guess and that. doesn’t quite work since it makes everyone else look... not great. And I think this is kinda a miscommunication on part of Nomura and the fans (IM MAKING ASSUMPTIONS TAKE WITH SALT) in that we kept saying we wanted people “saved” but meant having their arcs resolved in a reasonable way that preserved their agency and power and relationships, but got interpreted literally as “alright Sora comes in and solves every problem, is tough on stains, and makes julienne fries”
And yet there’s also a lot of mean spirited “oh no sora’s dumb and helpless w/out a second braincell” which was kinda funny the first couple times and I failed to pick up on it first go I’ll admit, but honestly? Yeah. they pick on sora too much. Donald and Goofy are the most guilty, and everyone else by virtue of not seeing Sora that much actually in-narrative are off the hook from me because they probably didn’t know how much teasing he’d been getting from his pals, but it felt kinda like they didn’t know what to fall back on between the three besides “oh donald and goofy pick on sora” which is cute once or twice but the amount he gets and how it clearly leads to his breakdown at the end is uhHHHHhhhHH hm.
As always the pacing is pretty awful where the disney worlds are somewhat relevant at best and then the end is 0-1000 but that is a usual KH gripe so its pretty low on the bar
Attraction flow is cute and neat at first but it gets.. really wearing towards the end and in the serious fights at the Keyblade Graveyard BOY are they a mood breaker
the “repeat the plot” worlds- Tangled, Frozen, Pirates -REALLY stick out like a sore, ugly thumb compared to the worlds that went out and did their own creative thing, and Big Hero 6 was.. cute? but kinda maybe too much of a breather.
Frozen also get an extra award for “Audio mixer most in need of firing!” because who the hell allowed the do you want to build a snowman scene.
They did nothing with Scala and I want a refund on that aesthetic if they’re not gonna do anything besides a framing device with it
HEY WAIT THERE WAS GOOD THINGS TOO!
Good news point that may or may not come to pass: Re:Mind DLC might fix some of the above salt! We shall see and probably know by the time this post is a year old sfjhdsakjgh
SORA! Sora was actually a character again!!!! holy cow they pulled up from the utter nose dive that was DDD!! god i love this dork and it was really fantastic to see him back to normal.
The graphical upgrade lost a lot of the squish and stretch that the OG graphics had but you know what? pretty. tastey. good graphics and better at doing more subtle emotions and hey have i mentioned Pirate’s glow up? Pirate’s glow up. The details in Olympus to recreate the swirly aesthetic of the clouds and explosions and lava is a great touch.
Worlds as far as levels go?? really good! They feel legitimately like worlds and explorable and with their own flavors and I LOVE battle and field themes x2 its really great I’m down for less worlds if they keep the quality. Hell we have NPCs!! maybe even too many npcs.
Writing OVER ALL/ON AVERAGE I’d say has improved a lot! It’s still not a literary masterpiece or anything but I found the disney worlds really cute and easier to get invested in even if long term they were less relevant than I hoped they would be. In every world there was at least one scene I found myself actually invested in. Like there was something to the writing that was legitimately more endearing than usual on average, and toy box and monstropolis were strong contenders for really good overall imo
honestly there were moments that- as moments -were incredible. Wayfinder reunion scene will haunt me, and Sea salt’s was good too, final world and rescuing everyone was jaw dropping, getting the LoD Back was also good, Union X, Xigbar exiting left stage pursued by a bear, wayfinder trio making a grave for eraqus, all the gummi ship scenes had great chemistry, beach party ending, hanging out with rapunzel for the first half of Corona is adorable as hell, all the nods to scenes in the movies, the easter eggs, like the game is not consistently amazing but it is peppered with stuff that I feel in a bubble ignoring surrounding context just work really really well
Damn if the end boss rush wasn’t thrilling as hell and honestly??? really good. Hard to parse out first flush but I think this was a good decision and added a lot of blood roaring urgency and wild turns, and even if I want to overhaul a number of things about the endgame I think this can definitely stay
Kingstagram is a beautiful gift man
OST? A fucking banger all around and I love how they’ve made cutscene-specific tracks that play with the leitmotifs throughout KH’s illustrious musical history
Over all there’s some really glaring issues, but overall it’s KH really at its best. I’m not sure if it’s my favorite entry and I’m still really mixed + befuddled on just how exactly I feel and I think a lot of that is I had pretty high expectations and my own ideas of how it would play out since like. 2012. it’s really hard to detach from those feelings and ideas sometimes. But KH3 wasn’t bad! It could’ve really been worse, and the fact that it got out the door in the state that it was is a good deal
now here’s to the wait for Re:Mind and to see if it’s basically the content we’d get in Final Mix that could definitely bump up my opinion

Books of 2019
Yeah I know it’s a little late, sue me.
Iron Kingdom by Christopher Clark (I’d recommend all his shit, he remembers that the past is a story as much as a table of statistics.)
The Hidden Life of Trees by Peter Wohlleben (whimsical, fast read)
The American Way of Death, Revisited by Jessica Mitford (Jesus christ throw me in the forest for the *avian* vultures)
Back to the Front by Stephen O’Shea (chatty, informal, circa the 80′s so slightly dated now)
Chaos Choreography by Seanan McGuire (The last light hearted book in the series, imo)
Human Errors by Nathan H. Lents (an informal dive into all the shit evolution saddled us with, including sinuses that drain up)
Premodern Japan by Mikiso Hane (The classic of the field, in english)
Stoned by Aja Raden (no, no that Aja. A bit too light hearted for the subject of gemstones.)
Modern Japan by Mikiso Hane (the other classic of English language Japanology)
Earthquake Nation by Gregory K Clancy (Dated, and much refuted now, but worth reading for the timeline of Japanese earthqaukes.)
The Arabs by Eugene Rogan (nothing good happens after about 1830)
And Only to Deceive by Tasha Alexander ( A regency murder mystery, with ancillary romance. Not my thing, but competent)
The Truth about Fat by Anthony Warner (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, a good antidote to Diet Culture)
Collision of Empires by Prit Buttar (actually a bit of a slog, which is disappointing given the subject matter)
The Great Kanto Earthquake and the Chimera of National Reconstruction by Charles J Schencking (the shitamachi property lines and roads were rationalized, and some nice new bridges, but the social infrastructure never happened. Very good pictures!)
The Book of Yokai by Michael Dylan Foster (fun and informal intro and listing of Yokai, following the Japanese tradition of yokai listings.)
Seismic Japan by Gregory Smits (arguably the most boring/strictly academic of my trio Japan earthquake books.)
A Poisoned Season by Tasha Alexander (continues to be good Regency fun)
The Puzzle of Polynesia by Christina Thompson (a history of western knowledge of Polynesia, a nice intro w/good Polynesian culture bits.)
The Sleepwalkers by Christopher Clark (BEST ‘how did ww1 start’ book evar, bar none.)
The Man Who Caught the Storm by Brantley Hargrove (Good bio of a good guy who lived and died chasing tornadoes.)
Influenza  by Dr. Jeremy Brown (a pop-sci rundown of what we know about the flu.)
The Big Ones by Dr. Lucy Jones (Recounting the seminal disaster of an area, w/scientific explanations and good social history.)
Flower Confidential by Amy Stewart (Not AS horrifying as the ‘the american way of death’ but there is some shady stuff going on in the cut flower biz)
Earthquake Storms by John Dvorak  (a bit of a dude-ish history of the San Andreas fault)
The Dynamics of Disaster by Susan W. Kieffer (Humans make dumb decisions that make natural disaster worse, with case studies!)
The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden (Fairytales in a blender Russian flavor, well written.)
Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman
Wind by Jan Deblieu (eh. a bunch of personal stories about the social/psychological impact of wind)
The Weather Machine by Andrew Blume (How weather models were developed and work now.)
Midnight in Chernobyl by Adam Higginbotham (imminently serviceable recounting of the disaster.)
The Epic Crush of Genie Lo by F.C. Yee (READ THIS NOW IT’S SO GOOD. The female main chara is a treasure and I love her.)
Manual for Survival by Kate Brown (the lingering and far flung effects if Chernobyl radiation, really digs into how this is still effecting people all over Europe.)
The Great Passage by Shion Miura (author of the novel ‘run with the wind’ was based on, same feel but dictionary making)
Super Sushi Ramen Express by Michael Booth (A very Dude tour of Japanese food, bless his heart)
Legion vs Phalanx by Myke Cole (what it says on the tin, in a nice conversational style)
Marked for Death by James Hamilton-Paterson (a very good intro/rundown of ww1 aviation, focusing on the humans)
Samuri Rising by Pamela S. Turner (Kid’s non-fiction about the Tale of Genji, basically. Did you guys know an English language history of Kamakura doesn’t exist? For any age range? This is as close as I could get.)
The Taste of Empire by Lizzie Collingham (How getting and shipping food influenced the expansion of the British Empire, from cod to Aussie lamb.)
The Taste of Conquest by Michael Krondl (history of the euro spice trade, which doesn’t dismiss the slaughters and slavery, but also doesn’t linger.)

So How Would You Handle It?
If you spend enough time thinking about a favorite quasi-romantic possibility that never quite made it to canon, sooner or later you’ll probably think on how you might have made that relationship work in the show. It’s tempting to imagine just going all-out, but I’ve actually put an embarrassing amount of time in plotting out just how Ash and Misty could’ve gotten together in a plausible way given the realities of what Pokemon is. That means accepting that the show is, first and foremost, about the Pokemon themselves, and that the most important relationship is Ash’s bond with his critters and with Pikachu in particular. I wouldn’t change that about the anime even if I could, but for the sake of this exercise, I’m even rolling with elements that I would like to change - the eternal 10-year-oldness, Johto’s aimlessness, Misty leaving at the end of the OS instead of the TRio, etc.
So, that pretentious preamble out of the way - how would I have handled pokeshipping as canon?
Well, one of Takeshi Shudo’s concerns about doing anything with a romance is that it could dominate the show and take away from Ash’s bond with Pikachu and the Pokemon. The way around this? Don’t let it.
Here’s how you do that: early on in Johto, have two episodes with subplots roughly analogous to those doujinshi “Orange Mail” and “Chocolate Panic,” with a few episodes separating them. This would let you build off of the second movie and create a “set-up/pay-off” early on in that season. The Orange-equivalent would be the set-up. I’m not entirely sure what the plot of that comic is (if anyone out there has a translation, I’m still game to prepare English versions of the pages...just sayin’), and you wouldn’t have the flashbacks and internal monologues that give specific voice to the idea of romantic feelings, but I can imagine an episode an episode ostensibly about Ash tracking down a Johto Bug-type, Misty objecting, them getting into a fight about it, and that’s what causes Misty to run off and get hurt after a run-in with the bugs. Ash finds her, the TRio show up and do something stupid to disturb the bugs, Misty chokes her fear down enough to tag-team with Ash to get rid of the bugs and the Rockets, and then Ash gives her the ride back to the Pokecenter. Again, you wouldn’t have the internal monologues, but if Ash and Misty’s body language were the same as in that comic, the implications would be obvious.
Again, that’s the set-up. Four or five episodes later, you could have the Chocolate-equivalent episode. The plot would have to be a bit more focused on a Pokemon-related issue that the comic was; let’s say that there’s a Valentine’s festival in that city involving some Pokemon contest (not to be confused with Contests) that Misty enters and wins, and wants to give the prize to Ash (basically substituting for the chocolate she made him in that comic). Struggle with whether she should (sans internal monologues, just body language), call-back to the Orange-equivalent ep by Brock, TRio steals the prize, Ash and Misty get it back, hide in the cave, yadda yadda yadda. Take a look at these pages from the comic. It’s possible to take Misty’s line “there’s no point unless I give it to him today,” and Ash’s reaction to that line, as an indirect confession/acceptance. It’s also possible to assume they’re not on the same page, and given that this is Ash, that’s not unreasonable...but what if we roll with the idea that it is an indirect confession?
From that episode on, you could assume that Ash and Misty are a couple...but keep up the indirect nature of it by never saying it aloud. Roll with leaving things implied. Have them holding hands as they walk through the woods for no apparent reason, and have no one mention it. Have Misty link her arm through Ash’s without prompting and treat it as completely natural. When they’re scared, they can latch on to each other the way Jessie and James do, but no one makes a thing of it. None of these things, or similar bits of business, would happen every episode or even every other episode, but often enough to be noticed by the audience. And that’s all you need; enough to tell the audience (without actually telling them via dialogue) that these two have decided they’re together. Some kids will actually act that way in real life; they’ll hook up (to the extent that 10-year olds can feel the emotions that come with such a relationship) without much in the way of formality. None of the kids in Pokemon have ever been literal 10-year olds, but this is something worth taking from real life IMO.
You could do a bit more here and there. Ash and Misty could have jealous fits two or three more times, there could be an instance or two where a Joy or a CotD calls them out on being a couple (and they blush and refuse to answer instead of denying it), and you could have a small handful of episodes where, instead of a run-in with a CotD, the plot concerns the group going into a city, Ash and Misty slipping off on a “date” (not that it’d ever be referred to in those terms), and encountering the Pokemon problem of the day in the course of it. And, when it comes time for Misty’s departure, she and Ash can have their one-and-only, off-screen (or maybe silhouetted/shadowed, given the setting) kiss.
But you see how this gets you the relationship without pulling focus from what the anime is meant to be? By handling it as an indirect detail, one that leaves it to the audience to pick up what’s happening based on blocking and body language (with the odd big development every now and then), that relationship becomes a fun flavor/color, spicing things up in Johto compared to earlier seasons without demanding a major sub-plot or story arc that would consume oxygen that could be spent on the Pokemon stories.
At least, that’s how I see things working out. YMMV, of course. And this is just what I’d do if adding the quasi-romance into Johto was the only change I’d be allowed to make; I could do quite a bit more with that region ;D
