OK so.... oh my god where do I even start. there's so much I do not expect you to read this LMAO but thank you for the opportunity to talk about this

ok so it's a visual novel. and you can play six different versions of the same story (volume 1 being Asra, Nadia, and Julian, with volume 2 being Muriel, Portia, and Lucio) and honestly, volume 1 is the strongest imo THATS NOT TO SAY VOLUME 2 ISNT GOOD I just love volume 1 because it's GENUINELY just the same exact story from different perspectives whereas volume 2 takes creative liberties (especially Portias route which is sad because I love Portia as a character but her route is so disconnected from the others that I don't like it that much) ANYWAY ANYWAY enough opinions let's get into the lore (actually while I'm on the topic, based on the plot of each route? honestly the best way to play would be Nadia->Julian->Asra->Muriel->Lucio <- Portia's story is disconnected from the rest so it doesn't fit into this? (which makes sense considering she hasn't been in town as long as the others so she isn't involved in their stuff) but you kind of do need to play Julian's route beforehand if for no other reason than to get a feel for Mazelinka's character and Portia's backstory)

as far as lore. I guess I will start at the beginning, Montag Morgasson (better known as Count Lucio now) is part of a tribe known as the Scourge of the South, and his mom was the leader so he was kind of entitled, he felt like he would have power handed to him when he turned 18 but that didn't happen! his mom just cut him off. so Lucio gets mad and tries to bargain with the wyrm Vlagnagog, only to mistakenly summon demon Vlastomil as Vlagnagog has been shriveled up for a while now from not getting any sacrifices. anyway Vlastomil promises to help Lucio weaken his parents via Pestilence in exchange for their hearts. Lucios dad is bedridden and Lucio kills him, but he cannot kill Morga as she's not so easily defeated. she decides to spoil him one last time by letting him free in combat, as she cannot bear to kill her own son

AND SIDE NOTE I absolutely love seeing the naming convention of The Scourge of the South like Morga gave birth to Lucio so he is Lucio Morgasson (Morga's Son) and Morga also occasionally introduces herself as Morga Eirsdottir, assuming one of her parents was Eirs, probably her mother

ANYWAY because the deal is not fulfilled, red beetles start following Lucio around (he has a complicated relationship with beetles but I won't get into that rn) and with them, the red plague. Lucio starts doing mercenary work so all over the world this plague is happening, but Lucio doesn't seem to realize it's his fault, the beetles are following him. he just keeps making deals and not fulfilling them because he doesn't understand, when you don't uphold your end of a magical bargain, it has a way of punishing you. this will come back to bite him later and he develops a huge fear of death when he realizes he'll never be able to pay off his debt, later leading him to bargain with The Devil, but we're not there yet

where were we! Mercenary work! ok so at some point Julian left Nevivon for Prakra to study under Nazali, and he ends up on the battlefield with Lucio, as a doctor. he amputates Lucios arm. during this battle, the count of Vesuvia who he's fighting for sees this sacrifice and resolves to make him the new count iirc. so that's how he rose to power (I'll go into other character backstories here in a minute)

Lucio throws a bunch of parties and bullies local homeless kids as count, two of those being Muriel and Asra. I'll explain their deal once I'm done explaining Lucio bc he truly is the central character here, he's where all the conflict comes from. just keep that in mind

he also marries Nadia, trapping her in a hopeless marriage while he has endless affairs with the other nobles. but she doesn't care bc she doesn't even wanna be married in the first place. she's just being treated as eye candy like she has her whole life and she's resigned to her fate (SAD)

so because he's staying in the same place. he catches the Red Plague. and he tries to do this whole ritual (it's really long to explain) to get a new body, but BOOM Asra sabatoged it! he put pomegranate juice in instead of Lucios blood so the ritual would fail (the ritual was to fuse Lucio with the Devil) but now he's just stuck as this ghost goat in between dimensions

the game starts three years after this takes place, and it is your job to solve the "murder" and I think that brings me to Julian because he's a pretty important piece there

so Julian, big brother of Portia, was born to a rich family, the Devoraks, but one day the ship crashed, killing his parents, and leaving salt seals to save he and Portia's life. later, pirate Mazelinka found them and took them to Nevivon to be raised by the grandmas, a loving community of elderly salt miners and here they spent their childhood. Julian was taught how to read and write by Mazelinka's girlfriend Lilinka, and Portia felt left out. she felt left out in a lot of ways, like this and then, she wasn't even old enough to remember their parents. she's just always felt left out. anyway adding salt to the wound Julian goes off to study medicine in Prakra, leaving Portia behind once again

Julian was also working during the Red Plague, under the palace head doctor Valdemar (ooooooh don't even get me started on the courtiers or ill never shut up) he was trying to find a cure, when his Apprentice succumbed to the illness. then he also caught it, and because of his near death experience, he was visited by the Hanged Man, who revealed to him the cure to the plague was to kill Lucio. so Julian escaped the dungeon where he had been locked in to focus on his cure, and he tried to kill Lucio, but by the time he got there the room was on fire. him being there, though, gave courtiers a reason to pin the blame on him later and the ritual made everyone lose their memories so he couldn't even dispute it

OK and then Asra's parents made Lucio a metal arm when he lost his, and he locked them up for it, leaving Asra homeless. here he met Muriel, who was also homeless due to his parents giving him away to save him from a raid by the Scourge of the South. their whole childhood they lived on the docks with Lucio harassing them. now, what they didn't know was that Asras parents? they made a deal with the Devil. Lucio physically could not hurt Asra. however, Lucio would threaten Muriel to do things by claiming he would hurt Asra if he did not comply. Lucio told Asra the same thing but for Muriel, using their love for each other to control them. Muriel def got the worst of this imo, he was forced to kill people and rabid animals in gladiator battle with the stage name being the name of the tribe who killed his whole family. Asra merely had to help Lucio with magical things. Muriel kept all this a secret from Asra bc he didn't want him to feel bad

this is a tough one! when i go hunting for fics i normally start w my Fave Character Tags (... treavor pendleton, george hodgson ao3 pages saved to my phone bookmarks smhhhh). probably dishonored fic is my fave to read actually? bc people do so much fun stuff with The World :^)

11. How do you come up with your fic titles?

normally they come from a spoken line in the text of the fic! or sometimes a bit of description... or something from the canon. like the working title for a different kind of man was "stained glass". the fics in the takes two to quarrel series were all named for lines in the fics, except for imperfect life which i lifted directly from canon text (and the series was named for a line in imperfect life)

nlwib's name comes from that one line of wallace's in game thats like - "I must prepare the mourning garments. His lordship has never looked well in black.". i often think that if i was gonna do a cleanup re-write i would just call it in black, but i did start posting it nearly eleven years ago and my Style has evolved since then lol

16. Do you research for your fics? If so, how deep of a rabbit hole have you gone down by accident when researching?

HFJSDKFHKS SEE MYSTERY MAN PART 2 in which I accidentally uncovered the history of one of the rl officers of the franklin expedition and have since seen real life Scholars talk abt things that were literally lost to history until i connected a bunch of dots on accident while trying to find out what early 19thc. eton was like. for a fanned fiction. me @ franklin scholars: get on my level wankers lol

17. How obsessively do you sit and stare at your fic after you’ve just posted and wait for feedback?

TOO OBSESSIVELY and it never ends well. i am trying to hold back on this bc. drac your fics are too niche your majesty they'll kill your self-esteem your majesty. never 4 get that the only comment i got on nlwib chapter 15 was "shame it wasnt gay" :/

i don't really Edit edit? things come and go as i write, then i'll get a version i like and probably give it a once-over in the ao3 preview to look for typos.

i don't really listen to music while i'm writing bc i get too distracted! either by lyrics or A Good Bit in instrumental music lol. but sometimes I'll play a single song on repeat through the entire thing like a deranged animal. i think the last nlwib chapter was written to Paris 1919 by John Cale on repeat for abt 40 hours lmao

Okay I’m too shy and awkward to actually write this as not-nonny but still, after I read your lore post, wanted to nerd out hehe

First, you used to paint minis??? That’s so cool!!I used to watch a lot of videos when I first got into DnD and how people made the maps/dungeons and all that good stuff. I’ve always been fascinated by dioramas so when I found the fantasy version of those I was ecstatic to say the least hehe I don’t really have the chance to play DnD as I don’t have people who are interested, but I’ve been enjoying some solo journaling TTRPG lately and it’s been really fun! (Apawthecaria is my fave and I suggest check it out if you were interested in Wanderhome)

Second, as a fellow artist I really relate to the need of always make something and it’s inspiring to see others make their own stuff, not matter the form! As somebody who struggles with mental health as well, make art, read ifs and get inspired by others creators has helped me a lot through the years.

I’m really sorry to hear about your chronic disease but, I really hope that things will get a little better and more manageable, at least a bit, with time 💕

I made dioramas for my homebrew dnd setting when I was a teen, I made a sculpting material from salt, flour, water and then sculpted on canvas boards and painted it with acrylics when it dried. I want to make more elaborate ones once I have the space to!

It's difficult to find a group to play with, I've only had two groups, one in person that fell apart, and now my fiance and I have a bunch of amazing online buddies that we play with over discord. I actually met my bff on tiktok when I was on there after I made a dragonage video and we bonded lmao, he's a great buddy. I hope you'll be able to find some people to play with.

If you are worried about the implications of "a bunch of people are trying to seduce this sad wet boy under false pretenses" he's ok in the end. Blue lions route takes place nebulously in war phase. Byleth time powers hijink sends the gang back in time where they have brief encounters with younger versions of... each other. Each of these little scenes is very sweet, and the author put a lot of thought into who meets who. Shout out to Annette's, Ashe's, and Mercedes' segments which make me feel things. There is a final section where they all reconvene and have awkwardness about meeting each others' past selves that honestly I think... ehh, "weakens the whole" is a bit harsh but I think the fic could have done without it. Maybe the author wanted to end on some levity? Or maybe the author just liked it and wanted to have it! They can do whatever they want, I'm not a cop.

so i think at first he's probably very wary, like Eda. he may not exactly know what all went on or how mindscape stuff works or who this Weird Kid is, but he picks up pretty easily that this is some version of Emperor Belos, and he certainly doesn't like Emperor Belos. he doesn't trust Babybel at first at all, even as Luz is reasonably convinced this is kid!Belos and different from evil!adult!Belos.

i think that after distrust there would also be jealousy? we've seen King get jealous before - he's a kid who has some serious abandonment issues, due to a bunch of traumatic stuff that happened in his early childhood.

(another thing i love about the trauma in TOH - King's trauma might not be as big and flashy as Hunter's trauma, and indeed aside from the recent ep it's largely over with, and he's been raised in a stable, loving home by Eda, who is not the world's best parent but who has made sure he knows, 100%, that she will always be there to care for and support and love him, but it still affects him in a variety of ways because what happened - losing his essentially before birth, growing up alone/feral, being snatched from his home by a stranger - is something that really seriously affects a child's development!

he was toddler-age when Eda got to him, so he spent his first few years alone, with no real guardian to attach to other than an automaton, and then he got taken away from it - ultimately better for him, but it was a sudden and traumatic separation from the closest thing he had to a parent. that causes some pretty significant and long-lasting issues in being able to securely attach! which we see demonstrated in King repeatedly.)

he's a bit stand-offish to Luz when she first shows up, bc she disrupts his usual life with Eda. then he gets super attached bc she's great, and we see him start getting jealous towards her friends. even once that's resolved, he's still super clingy with Luz and very anxious and upset about the idea of her going back to the human realm. and that's persistent! it's not just a one-and-done King Learns A Lesson episode, he consistently dreads and fears abandonment by the people he loves even though he knows they love him.

so, anyway - i think King would be jealous of Babybel getting all the attention. classic youngest sibling suddenly getting a younger sibling story really - here's this even littler kid (who is maybe also the guy who tried to kill you and your mom?) who has some developmental and emotional issues, who therefore needs a lot of time and careful attention paid to him to figure out what he needs, what's going on with him, how to communicate with him, and whose behavior ends up being really disruptive.

(i'm sure King is not thrilled to be on the other side of one of his own tantrums, lmao! although at least Babybel's screaming can't shatter stone.)

however, i do think he'd end up enjoying having a kid his own age around. and in fact, once he got over the rude shock of no longer being the baby of the house, i think he might go a little mad with older sibling power (a kind he has not tasted before!) and try to lord it over Babybel - who is, in fact, a baby brother, and is therefore quite used to this dynamic.

(and knows how to deal with older sibling power trips in ways that are probably also going to be a rude shock to poor King. this is all so new to him, but Babybel has an advantage!)

so one thing i noticed about Hollow Mind, right, is that rope trap he makes for the palisman soul amalgam, and the fact that it's a clear callback to the same rope trope he made while playing witch hunters with Caleb - and we see that as an adult, Philip seems to have a knack for making contraptions and devices and such.

so i like to imagine that he had that type of mechanical/engineering bent, it was something he was good at and enjoyed even as a kid - coming up with weird devices and making traps for games (and probably repairing stuff around the farm/house and trapping animals etc as he got older) and all that - WHICH

well. you can see the obvious intersection of that interest + King's persistent interest in wargames, right?

so once King and Babybel start getting along, they just absolutely terrorize the entire fuck out of this whole house.

Yep I am late and this time I don't have any excuses. I didn't get sick like last time. I think I am just burnt out but I don't wanna fully admit it bec I don't have the right to be burnt out lmao. Anyways, I am here to talk about Jimin and not me.

Where do I even start?

I previously said that I'll start typing my thoughts again so I could get back to them in the future. But honestly, I don't know if I actually want to remember everything that happened during Jimin's FACE era. It actually gave me more heartbreak than happiness. As much as I wanted to focus on the success of the album and how the songs were carefully written by Jimin, I think there are more serious matters to talk about.

I mean yes, Jimin attained all these record breaking achievements however at the same time, he experienced a lot of injustices mostly bec he's an asian making honest music in a white dominated industry.

After hitting no.1 on HOT100, Billboard suddenly deleted 90% of his sales in the 2nd week which made him fall 40 spots down. If the sales were not deleted, he could've stayed no.1 for another week.

Spotify merged the 2 versions of Like Crazy in the first 4 days (like they usually do with other artists' songs) but when it was able to hit no.1 on Global Spotify Chart, they suddenly separated the 2 and never put them back. They even fucked up the producer credits for a time period.

Even after hitting no.1 on Global Spotify Chart and no.1 on HOT100, US radios kept ignoring Like Crazy and refused to play it. They would ask for requests and when LC acquires the most votes, they will pick another song. If the song was not paid and not from a white artist, US radios dgaf no matter how well the song is doing on the official charts.

Youtube has always been a BTS anti. Youtube does filter other artists' views too but when it comes to any BTS related videos, they filter out 1000000x harder. No matter how it is proven that BTS has one of, if not the largest fandom in the world, Youtube still considers us bots.

They usually delete a lot of views during the first few days of a BTS video then tones down after. However during Jimin's music videos (SMFPT2 and LC) they kept deleting an average of 1M views per day even 2 weeks after the release. The fact that LC was no.1 trending music video worldwide for days but it was stuck with the same views was so frustrating. Even if you compare its views to likes ratio from other Korean artists' mvs, you'll definitely see something's wrong.

When Jimin was about to hit 2M album sales in 1 day, Hanteo deleted 700k sales. They were even planning to make Jimin not hit 1M in 1 day bec they suddenly froze his sales. Luckily the fandom was able to screen record their website and posted a bunch of proofs of their anomaly. After bombarding them with emails, they gave up and brought back Jimin's 1M sales. Sadly the 700k sales were not given back.

The worst part from all this mess? BIGHIT/HYBE never said anything. Never defended their artist. Always does the bare minimum and makes the fandom do all the work, from promo, to radio spins and even in demanding for accountability from all these charts and platforms. Very disappointing knowing they are the biggest entertainment company in SK. BTS built the company from dust through their blood, sweat and tears but they can't give the same energy back? Pathetic. Tho when it comes to their rookie group they be doing the most lol.

"Bangtan are not babies, they are grown up, adult men. They are shareholders of this company. They know everything, they approved of this blah blah" 

I know BTS do have the power and voice regarding their work but at the end of the day, there are certain things that the company has the final say (Hell they can't even release certain songs sometimes if not approved by the company!). I'm so sick of people bringing up this argument just to disregard the company's blatant negligence to the Tannies. Also, me talking about this does not mean I don't acknowledge all the good they've done, there are just so many questionable decisions made by the company that needed to be addressed but the space is not enough to list them all.

Tbh if I can make all of these not true I would. I would save Jimin from all these unfair treatment specially he is just facing all of these alone since this is not a group comeback. But this is the reality. All these sabotages were not conspiracy theories, they were real. Even all of us were shocked that these charts and platforms did these things in broad daylight. This is how dirty the music industry is against people of color. This is the truth.

Other fandoms usually just focus on the visual aspect and rarely their faves' music (numbers don't lie bruh). They would be making fun of our fandom bec we take streaming, voting and charting seriously. And when BTS keeps on winning and their faves don't, they'd protest lmao. Why am I mentioning this?

Sometimes after fighting all these music charts and platforms I would think, what if I didn't dive deep? What if I'm just a casual music listener and a visual stan? What if I didn't know how corrupt the system is? Things wouldn't be so stressful right?

But then again, I fell in love with BTS bec of their music. And they have proven how much they love making music. Of course as a fan, I only want the best for them. I want them to achieve everything they deserve as artists and musicians. Fighting the impossible like the music industry is indeed exhausting however if it's for an artist like BTS then it's all worth it.

I want to end this long ass rant by congratulating Jimin on his historical solo album debut. I am sorry if I didn't focus on typing about FACE. I wanted to emphasize that despite all these sabotages, no payola, no playlisting, no radio and no western collab, Jimin made it to the top. 

There might be people (mostly the ones who don't know how the charts and system work) thinking it was easy. It was never easy, always never easy when it comes to BTS.

Nevertheless thank you Jimin for making this masterpiece. I am proud of having you as a bias. You deserve all the success and praise. We will always have your back no matter what. I love you.

I am a big fan of 80s music and Like Crazy has 80s music vibe so I love it so much.

I wanted to include every achievement of FACE and LC on every chart in different countries but there's not enough space.

There might be another Korean soloist in the future who will achieve no.1 on HOT100 like Jimin but that will never change the fact that he will always be the first (also 2nd asian soloist overall after 60 years) and I can't flex this enough.

rough map of worlds

i was bored and i've always wanted to make my own map of all the sims 4 worlds, but i'm very bad at photoshop, so i don't know how to make it look all professional like other people's lolol. so here is a very rough version of how i imagine all the worlds to be laid out.

if you notice, i didn't put batuu on the map for a reason. i've never played with it and i never plan to play with it, but i know it's basically star wars which is in space so that's why it's not on "earth" in the sims.

i put mt. komorebi at the top mainly because it makes sense that one of the coldest places would be north, but then again, i did put some warm places right below it so idk lol.

i put strangerville and chestnut ridge below mt. komorebi because they have those big rock structures, and i was thinking those would change into mountains the farther north you go. i believe that the river that starts in the top left of chestnut ridge connects to the river that goes off the map in the bottom left of mt. komorebi. i think it also might connect to the river going off the screen in the top right of strangerville and the river coming down into the top left of tartosa.

i put tartosa off to the right because there are some tan/green hills in the top left, much like the bottom right of chestnut ridge. i think the sea off to the left would eventually turn into the glimpse of the river we get in the bottom right of forgotten hollow.

i put forgotten hollow kind of where i imagine the center of all the mountains to be, because it really looks like it's surrounded by mountains.

i included all the vacation worlds, so i put granite falls where i imagine the mountain range would start ending and curving down to where i put copperdale, because that also seems to have some mountains in the top left. i think the river there connects to the river that goes through san sequoia.

speaking of san sequoia, it has that bridge that turns and goes off to the bottom right of the map. i think this bridge is the same one that will connect to the bridge going over the river in the bottom right of moonwood mill. i originally was going to put it in the mountains with forgotten hollow, but once i realized that the bridges looked similar and were in relative places, i decided to put it there. i believe that the big body of water that comes off of san sequoia isn't a sea, but a big lake that eventually splits into one of the rivers that run down into britechester.

britechester was a bit hard to place mostly because it didn't have many defining features. no pine trees, mountains, bridges, or sand. just a bunch of rivers flowing through it. so, i choose to believe that this rivers eventually funnel down into the ocean that eventually leads to sulani.

sulani is in the bottom because, like, obviously lol. i'm thinking that all the rivers and water along the bottom turn into the ocean that surrounds the islands.

evergreen harbor is down in the bottom left because i said so lmao. it just makes sense, okay? because they'd ship all their stuff out of there and some of it could go down to sulani and the rest would go off into the unknown. but the sea there curves up to the right a bit, so imagine that turns up into the sea of brindleton bay.

idk what to say about brindleton bay tbh lol. just that its sea curves up and around into windenburg, which i also don't know what to say about. just that the stone part of town on the right matches the stone in magnolia promenade.

magnolia promenade is there because in the top right there are some business-looking buildings, which i think would turn into the big skyscrapers in san myshuno. not much to say about the city, but i think the rivers in the top right would eventually connect to the river that runs through henford-on-bagley.

i've always imagined that san myshuno would eventually lead to del sol valley because you can see the buildings in the bottom left of the del sol valley map. the sand there leads up into oasis springs in my opinion. glimmerbrook is off to the right of there because i said so.

selvadorada is mainly in the top left because i didn't really know where else to put it lmao. but it's kind of mountainous, so it's in the north, but it didn't really seem to fit right above oasis springs.

and then newcrest is obviously is down to the right of san myshuno because you can also see the buildings in the top left of the map. then that leads into willow creek because they're super similar.

#26: Etrian Odyssey 1 HD

Finished When? 11/7/23

What's Finished? Main Story

Platform? PC

I didn't get into the Etrian Odyssey franchise until the 3DS era with Etrian Odyssey 4, which was pretty good by the way. I enjoyed creating my own party of adventurers and going out into the world to slay monsters and solve the mysteries of Yggdrasil (or whatever World Tree they explore through).

Then I moved onto Etrian Odyssey Untold, which was a remake of EO1 with a more story-focused cast of characters but with an option to play the game in Classic Mode. I also liked the it.

And then I fell off. Not because I hated the series but because other things took my attention and it fell by the wayside.

Then cue Atlus saying they're porting Etrain Odyssey 1, 2, and 3 to PC and now it caught my interest again, especially due to the fact that there's a potential for modding in there! So I picked up the bundle and started playing with EO1HD.

I will say that it was fine, I was treading old ground so nothing was really new to me and while I still like it, I feel like it has parts where it overstays its welcome, especially towards the end, and, of course, the music was just the classic music, not Untold, which kinda sucks but whatever.

It's fine for what it is and I can now say I've completed a version of classic EO1.

Now, I just wish Picnic mode wasn't super heavy-handed in its changes to enemies because taking 20% damage from them seems too much. Atlus REALLY loves making their beginner modes SUPER easy for some reason and I don't know why they do this.

#27: My Friendly Neighborhood

What's Finished? Story

Platform? PC, Steam

This game was on my radar for quite a while ever since that one Steam Next Fest (I think?) had a demo for it, on top of seeing tweets (sorry, X-cretes) of it on my feed of the developer working on bits and pieces of it.

When it finally came out, I went to go pick it up and while the price was a little higher than I initially expected, I'm glad to have paid the price of admission for it! The characters are memorable (I mean, they are when you have to listen to them prattle on about the mail for the entire playthrough), the gameplay feels like I'm playing a Resident Evil (not the super action-packed ones) except with puppets and the fact that there are cheats in a game in 2023 is something that I never thought I'd see.

On top of that, I enjoyed how it essentially deconstructs the whole mascot horror formula and makes its own where the mascots in question aren't out to kill you, at least, it seems that way, and aren't trying to eat your pancreas or whatever.

This game is great and would definitely sit on my list of favorite games this year.

#28: Pikmin 4

What's Finished? Game complete, True 100%

Pikmin is one of my favorite Nintendo franchises that I wished did not get shot in the head by a game that just feels tedious. Fortunately, Nintendo finally dug up the grave and brought it back to life (Now do it for Chibi-Robo, PLEASE.) for Pikmin 4, something that took 10 years to add a dog.

I played the demo and loved it, even went out of my way to not meet the 1500 sparklium limit just so I could experience all the caves, the controls feel great, Oatchi is baby and I love himb, and the levels you have to go through are quite beautiful to see on the Switch, all of this running on Unreal Engine too.

I have quite a bit more to say about this game so I'm gonna have to say that there's a Read More below that will spoil Pikmin 4 for you if you click on it. (EDIT: lmao nevermind, clicking expand on the post in the feed also expands the read more so now I have to make a separate post)

#29: Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart

What's Finished? Normal Mode Story

When I first heard this game was only coming to PS5, I unanimously decided to just.. not. Just not. This was because I could not get my hands on a PS5 and that it was terribly expensive and getting a console for one singular game these days feels like a waste, so I decided to just not talk about this game so as to avoid the algorithm.

This was so I wouldn't get spoiled on anything beyond what was shown in trailers and also so I wouldn't get an ALL BOSSES & ENDING (NO DAMAGE) video on my Youtube feed by some jerk who decided to plaster the face of the final boss in the middle circle and call it a day. Surprisingly, this actually worked and I never heard about this game again.

Then Sony decided to port it to PC and I jumped on it because now I can actually play it. Of course, I decided to wait until I was done with Pikmin 4 first before I moved on and I'm glad I did.

I'm really glad that I was lucky enough to have a PC that could just power through some of the issues the game had, although it still had a few issues such as geometry not loading in and the occasional time where I would clip through the ground and die for no good reason, but I was able to play through the game from start to finish.

Was it worth not spoiling myself for however many years? Probably. It was a short game but I got my money's worth. Rivet is cute, Ratchet is great as ever, and the fact that the game completely ignores the remaster of the first game is also great, mostly because that game kind of ruins Ratchet's character development that he went through.

Also, on my birthday, I was given a Dualsense controller (Lemme say that I didn't know what I wanted for my birthday, it's hard to do so these days...) and I must say the adaptive triggers did change up the gameplay quite a bit, priming a shot with a half-press and clicking it all the way in to fire. I initially thought it'd be overhyped as all hell but no, it felt pretty good to use, add to the fact that it has touchpads much like the Dualshock 4, which means that it'd be the perfect companion to my Steam Deck as well as enabling a much easier time of gyro gaming on PC (one of my issues with gyro gaming was simply not having an easy way to toggle the gyro on and off and I was not about to give up one of the face buttons for gyro-ratcheting).

All in all, game's great, was worth the wait, and I'm surprised at how well it ran and looked on the Steam Deck running at 30 FPS @ 800p. Perhaps I judged 30 FPS too harshly.

#30: Nerf Arena Blast

What's Finished? Single-player campaign

What prompted me to play this? Why did I choose to play this? Simple. Nostalgia, among other things.

This is probably one of the times where nostalgia really screwed me over.

The feel of the game is great, I loved the 90's aesthetic of there being some sort of nerf arena and playing as an up-and-coming team, the first few levels were pretty nice to play through too, but that's where everything kind of stops.

Also, this game is... well.. it's a game filled with slow-moving projectiles and bots that are dumb as bricks one minute and ultra try-hards the next is not my idea of fun. Not to mention that the game began to feel tedious as I kept pushing through the campaign.

Sure, I'm probably asking for a lot from a licensed kids game from the 90's/00's but Unreal Tournament had a lot more to offer than just deathmatch, ballhoopmatch, and speedrun, I wish they had done more than just those modes.

Speaking of the modes, I've found Ballblast to be extremely tedious to play through. It felt like it'd drag on and on and on and on and on and on until someone FINALLY finds the six dragon balls, shoots them through a hoop, and then collects the seventh one and shoots it through a hoop to FINALLY end the game. I have to ask, who the hell decided it would be a good idea to make it UNTIMED? There's a VERY good reason why objective gamemodes with the ability to disrupt those capturing has a timer, it's so that, at the end, the game can end and the winner be found.

But these games could drag on for ages, compounded by the fact that the bots, despite being masterful gods of leading projectiles, are stupid, somehow even dumber than Unreal Tournament's bots, and will take forever to go to the hoop and shoot balls into a hole.

BUT, I will give credit where credit is due, Pointblast, which is deathmatch but points, is a neat idea where you go around slaying people like normal BUT they drop points that you have to pick up BUT it can also be stolen meaning that you could get 1st place killed and steal the 1000 point drop from someone else. I like this idea, I like how it essentially changes the pace from sitting around camping to a more frantic slugfest, which I appreciate because when I played through Unreal Tournament, most of my problems could be solved with either a Flak Cannon to the face or pulling out the sniper rifle and just headshotting everyone from a safe place.

Speedblast is... interesting. I like the idea of running through the map, shooting others to stop them from capturing checkpoints, and finishing before everyone else. Maybe it's just me, really, because while I do like the idea of it, the execution was often less than stellar and the maps that had ways to disrupt without having to kill people were very few and that kind of makes me sad. Is it a stupid gamemode? Yes but I applaud the devs of the time for trying to make something new for a change.

All in all, this game is very flawed and somewhat poorly aged but it has some decent points to it and I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy my time with it at all. I really did have at least a bit of fun with it, even though I did not appreciate the game quitting on me after I finished the final level and it blasting my ears off with the ultra-loud video that plays.

And it also has a niche cult following that helpfully has a community patch that allows it to be played on modern systems, so clearly it has something going for it that I may not have found for myself. And that's okay, you know?

In terms of RPGs, there are two things I'm really looking for at the moment but can't seem to find.

First: matchmaking. I like following prompts to come up with characters, and some sort of gameified way to determine relationships, or compare them against one another, would be super fun!!

This'd probably be a solo RPG but I could see multiplayer versions. Maybe a variation of Super Fight where it's about players convincing a third why their character would be their best match? (I vaguely remember a card game based on this called Slash, but it used pre-existing characters, which is also a fun idea but not quite as versatile.)

Second: traveling. So first off I can't believe I haven't been able to find a solo RPG to be played while you're on holiday. I'm not sure what sort of focus I'd prefer: finding specific things, like collecting leaves of whatever? Or just more of a vague 'journaling but gamified' thing? I could see a sorta role-played scenario where you're visiting this new world for the first time, but with these things I never know how specific to get for the theming. Maybe each day could focus on a new element of the place? Like 'what is unusual/good/bad about the food' etc.?

But ALSO I can't believe there isn't a travelling rpg that focuses on generating interesting places to visit. (At least, not that I've been able to find.) Looking up 'journeys' and 'RPG' just gives me Ryuutama (which I didn't really enjoy sadly :( ) and a whole bunch of stuff about 'how to make travelling fun' focusing on like scavenging for food and encounter tables and stuff.

But what I'm thinking of is more like Monster Roadtrip of 80 Days: you're trying to get somewhere, but have to go through a lot of other places to get there. You get choices of where you can go next, with each having its own kooky attractions or interesting locals. There could be recurring characters who are also travelling in a similar direction that you occasionally pass by, and also possibly things to collect? It could even be something like the board game Tokaido, where there's a competitive element because only so many people can go to a place.

I could try making it myself, but... darn, the theme. Should I even try to theme it at all? I'd love to make something based on Australia (since I've found very few TTRPGs based here), but... Australia is not a very good option for a road trip game, lmao. Unless you want to spend days on end travelling through desert you've usually only got one real option (and it's still a very sparse one). I like the Jules Verne vibe, but there are already one or two RPGs based on the book... Without the emphasis on generating locations as far as I can tell, but I should at least read them, huh. HRM.

I got witcher!Ciri too! I kind wonder wha would happen if she died tho, dont wanna put geralt or her through that but I love angst lmfaoo. The game got really confusing at point cause I you have to learn a bunch of politics and how this world works and I didnt pay that much attention so I'm sure I'll get those moments in my second playthrough too I'm playing something in the hearts of stone thnig, it was lower level so I'm assuming you should play that first? a main quest with the asshole ghost in the wedding and wow I fucking hate it, it's so umcomfortable to watch geralt be this gross n weird lol, I'm not too familar when Shani either so watching her get mad when I get geralt to say he wouldnt do what the ghost is doing is so annoying lol, OH AND the ghost is a creepy fuck! shani babe you can do much much better than an asshole who talks about his dick and fucking "maidens" every other sentence!! Geralt really does get thrown into so much shit huh I'm tempted to read the books cause I do rly like the world and most- some characters but yeah reading about yen being yen wold be one of the things to stop me, what are some of the plot points that put you off? if you don't mind sharing And yeah I'd so be up for more content esp with ciri, would be cool to see them work together, even with how combat works in this game with npcs lmao

Woo witcher Ciri ending! :D If you enjoy putting yourself through pain I recommend looking up that other ending on YouTube because there are definitely some nice angst shots in the cut scenes. I watched and then promptly went, “I don’t need to play that for myself” lol. But yeah, hard agree on things getting confusing, especially towards the end. I completely missed stuff like the fact that my actions would actually impact this war, rather than the war simply being backdrop, or that Ciri’s powers were more than just the ability to teleport short distances. So by the time I was getting called on to murder kings and Avallach was taking us to totally different worlds, I had a very John Mulaney approach of, “This might as well happen. Things are already so goddamn weird.” Which, you know, really isn't the game's fault. It's what I get for jumping into the third game first and while I don't regret that at all, the story has absolutely deserved a second playthrough where I actually understand all the basic stuff I should have known going in.

Yeah, Hearts of Stone comes first. You can do any of the side quests you’d like from either DLC, but I’d recommend keeping Blood & Wine’s main storyline for the final push. But yeah, that ghost dude is, uh… something. I quite like the wedding on the whole—I really enjoy Shani, dancing is fun, O’Dimm is being a wonderfully evil dude—but yeah, dead dude is definitely a creep. Which is partly one of the things that turned me off from the books. It has the same ‘Guy trying to write women’ energy of the games but… worse. I’ve read a lot of excerpts over the years and so many of them turn me off. There are a ton of small things, like Triss importantly informing the witchers (who are all like 100+ years old??) about periods and that Ciri can’t train today because of hers (a moment that much of the fandom celebrates as... progressive?), or Triss and Yen getting super catty with one another over Geralt, to much bigger things like Ciri nearly getting raped/being involved in intimate acts with really questionable consent. A lot of the Witcher has a “This didn’t age well” vibe to it which, to be fair, isn’t entirely the fault of the author. The story is the product of 90’s Polish culture and, again, a man trying to write some pretty complex subjects from an arguably ignorant place, which makes much of the work eye-rolling for me at best, outright uncomfortable at worst. (Which I think is why I enjoy the games far more. I have agency in this questionable world, the ability to tailor it somewhat to my own beliefs and desires, which makes moments when that's taken away, like Geralt automatically commenting on how good Yen looks at a funeral, all the more frustrating). I obviously am not a Geralt/Yen fan, which sours a great deal of the plot. From what I got through the pacing felt like a slog and, more importantly, much seems to have been lost in the translation from Polish to English. (I continually hear about how amazing the dialogue is, but sadly that hasn’t come across in translation for me. Much of it is... awkward.) The parts I’ve heard about/read excerpts of that I’m most interested in—Geralt’s hanza—ends tragically and I’m… just not here for that right now. Which isn’t to say it’s badly written or anything, just that it’s not my personal cup of tea, especially nowadays with a pandemic and what all going on lol. I look at what I know of the series as a whole and go, “Do I really want to read five books filled with outdated representation for women, that old-school fantasy violence that turned me off GoT, with a super depressing ending, all wrapped up in an iffy translation and a style I don’t think does well in long-form storytelling? … Not really.”

Still loved most of the short stories and I’ve heard that many people liked the audio book versions when they couldn't get into the text, so I might give that a go someday. I’d prefer to actually have read all the source material for a fandom I’m spending so much time in, but I sadly just haven't had the urge yet. If you do read them, anon, you’ll have to tell me what you think. It’s becoming quite the divisive topic, especially as Netflix fans turn to the books, and—putting aside that everyone’s tastes will always differ—it’s interesting to hear not just whether someone had fallen in love with the books or not, but if they haven’t what about them prevented that. It's very much a case of one person's "That was awful" being another's "Are you kidding me? That's the best part!"

Hi! I'm curious what your thoughts and issues are with chapter 2? I just saw it last night myself! I completely agree with all the positive things you said! I left the theater feeling dissatisfied though, and I can't quite put my finger on why.

Alrighty, this is gonna be a doozy, so strap in folks!

Disclaimer: This is all my opinion, and it’s cool if any of you disagree w/ me! Just don’t be too mad at me, lol. ALSO, BIG SPOILERS FOR IT: CHAPTER 2.

So, in my humble opinion, I think the one thing that hinders IT: Chapter 2 the most is something inherent to the very structure of the story—-the source material. Oop! 

Now, don’t get me wrong, I love me some Stephen King. He is an absolutely phenomenal writer and has a knack for writing some of the most poignantly horrific scenes in modern lit—-he greatly inspired me as writer and I love him for it! He’s my favorite creepy uncle of the lit world and I adore him. (In a way, TSS is a total love letter to his works, as they impacted me so much.)

HOWEVER (and this is a big however with me), I strongly believe that Steve’s strongest characterization and writing is in his Tortured Middle Aged Straight White Guy Writer With a Vaguely Dissatisfied Marriage and Drinking Problem™ characters. 

He’s very good at writing this one character, and this one character only. 

Ask him to write a female/lgbt+ character and he falters hard. I would even go as far as to say that his female characters often blend into this one colorful curvy blur of nothingness (wendy/audra/jessie/bev)….unless they’re the villain, and then they get an ounce more of Decidedly Female™ Evil (Carrie, Annie). 

This is of course, a personal opinion, and one that I’ve come to realize through years of reading SK. 

Bev feels very much like a vague character in IT: Chapter 2, so I don’t have much to say about that. I like Jessica Chastain in the role, yadda yadda.(The Bev/Ben/Bill shit is dumb af, but I’ve thought this since I read the book so what can you do.)

My biggest issue is in the handling of Richie, and the gay characters in the film as whole. There’s a bunch of hammy weird scenes meant to wink-wink-nudge-nudge at the audience that just rubbed me all the wrong way.

The closet behind the “Very Scary” door.

The not-so-subtle parallel of the hate crime against Don and Adrian and Richie’s response to Eddie’s death. “He has asthma, you fucker!” Or some line somewhat similar….who else has asthma? Who else dies while the man who loves him watches horrified, screaming his name over and over again? Yeah. That was definitely on purpose.

The last scene of everyone ‘After’, wherein we see that Bev and Ben are happily together and have a dog (???), while Richie approaches the bridge, completely emotionally broken, to re-carve the R + E into the bridge. 

Just……..boi. Lmao. Now, these are not problems that the film has alone—-this is all due to the faithfulness to the novel. This is mostly all pulled from the novel/directly in line with the canon. 

Personally, the Bury Your Gay/The Gay Character Faces The Deepest Trauma trope is one of my most hated tropes. 

It’s just….very disappointing to see everyone else get this very hopeful ending, and see Richie just…..completely devastated. I love seeing representation, and I’m glad that they made Richie/Eddie more explicitly gay (even though it was never…..actually…..said……), but……killing off your gays and making them sad is the most tired “haha gotcha!” trope and I really dislike it. 

THAT BEING SAID, THIS CANNOT BE CHANGED WITHOUT COMPLETELY GOING OFF SCRIPT OF THE ORIGINAL NOVEL. 

This is a problem I have with Steve, and IT, inherently. It colors my opinion of the movie/book greatly, and I can’t escape it.

Now, for Less Me™ Problems:

The pacing feels….off. I honestly think that if they had included more slower-paced scenes/introspective scenes, the impact of the final battle would’ve been stronger. (Now, once again, just my opinion! My bf thought the movie was way too long, but then again, he never read the book.) It really felt as if they just jumped from jump-scare to jump-scare to jump-scare for shits and giggles sometimes, tbh.

On that note, the fuckin’ JUMP SCARES. One of my favorite things about the first movie was how it didn’t rely on jump-scares to be scary—-I can remember a singular one (when Pennywise catches Bev in her apartment), and that WORKED because the tension was there. For me, things that are eerie—-or slightly off—-are scarier than in-your-face ‘BOOM GOTCHA’ crap. I was a bit disappointed by the over reliance on them, tbh.

I honestly believe that they played too much of their hand with the trailers. It gave away a lot of the scares and emotional bits. (The scene with them looking into the storefront absolutely SHOULD NOT have been included, as it totally took away any emotional weight that the scene was going for.)

to end on a positive note tho!

Things I Really Liked:

The BANTER was great. The restaurant scene was hilarious and morbid and I LOVED it.

I also genuinely can’t stop raving on how amazing the casting was?? It was literally so on-point?? I’ve never seen a film ACTUALLY cast actors who reasonably resemble and act like their younger versions??? That you can wholeheartedly believe actually are them grown up?? I was SHOOK.

All the scenes with the Losers as kids!!

If you’ve read the book, it’s genuinely v creepy to know that Bev was literally drinking sewer water out of that teacup, even though the movie doesn’t explicitly say it (the cut to her holding the cup in a way so you could see the brown liquid SENT ME) 

VERY glad that they dropped the whole pointless plot of Audra coming to Derry and getting captured bc I think I would’ve fallen asleep

I’m actually kind of glad you’re so into the pairing. So, to answer your questions.

1) There are no plans for an Eirwen pregnancy at present, but who knows.

2)Vallaslin in The Lady in Blue and White:

I’ve gone back and forth about how I headcanoned this working in Arlathan, and I finally settled on there being a bunch of different vallaslin versions. The traditional ancient elvhen vallaslin works like a patron/protector relationship as a system for energy transfer. This can be Master/Servant, Lord/Knight, but the way it worked on the whole in Arlathan is as a patronage system. They join the rank and file of a lord, the lord acts as the receptacle, and then shares their strength back to their followers thus strengthening them beyond what they’d be able to achieve on their own.

Like all immortals, age plays a huge factor in Arlathan about who is at the top. The society had little to no upward mobility since those at the top never die except by non-natural factors and there was no real meritocracy. There were those who distinguished themselves, but it was incredibly difficult when management had a few 1,000 years on them.

However, every system has an initial stage. The elves were once spirits who transitioned into the bodies they now have. Blood magic seems to be a natural counter to that of the Fade, serving to aid in tying a spirit to the physical plane as they adjusted. The vallaslin Dirthamen put on for Eirwen is very similar to that original version, he understood the patron/client relationship between them wouldn’t be acceptable unless it was reversed. So, he intended to take on a role closer to advisor and siphon off the strength she couldn’t control as a way of quickly regaining the strength he’d lost. He also did it to save her life. He saw it as a way to even out the power imbalance by putting himself in a vulnerable position. He could’ve forced her to work with him but he decided against it. He’d rather give her a reason to trust him. He went with the tightest, strongest bond he could think of. He wasn’t trying to strike up a sexual relationship.

That’s not what he got.

He remarks on it being like marriage because in some ways it is, their mystical energies are bonded. They intermingle, forged in an unbreakable partnership that exists between the Evanuris and their oldest, closest seconds. However, because he’s also Evanuris, it becomes a bond similar to marriage (though not marriage the way we think of it, more like an arranged marriage. A formalized agreement between two people about X, who’ve bonded their magical energies in order to jointly strengthen themselves.) And now, suddenly, they must deal with a sudden closeness neither of them were prepared for.

On a basic level, Dirthamen’s vallaslin acts as a symbol of the union between the modern elves and the elvhen.

Dirth meant well. He also knows what the vallaslin means to him and to her are different, so what binds one way doesn’t necessarily bind the other. Eirwen gets to make her own decisions about how she sees their relationship.

3) Vallaslin in Sex

Vallaslin is a direct, magical blood link between two people. So, yeah, it can be used for pleasure and in a myriad of different ways.

The irony is most of the songs for Eirwen to Solas like Strange Sight by KT Tunstall work for Dirthamen except it’s in reverse. He’s the one stretching out his hand and pulling her out of the dark, offering her the acceptance she’s been looking for and doesn’t know what to do with. Thematically, he’s there offering her the home she offered to Solas.

Dangerously by Charlie Puth and I Can Love You Better by Shawn Mendes are ironically great picks for… dun, dun, dun SPOILERS… Falon’din… shh. (Also Think Twice by Eve6.) I initially envisioned him as the charismatic version of the fandom’s Dark Fen’Harel so he is territorial, obsessive, possessive, boundary pushing, and… lots of other things.

5) Is Dirthamen obsessive or get obsessive about Eirwen?

No, Dirthamen is not obsessive. He is protective, devoted, dedicated, and above all: patient. He’s willing to take what he’s given. He’s in no hurry. He’s an immortal, one of the eldest of the Evanuris. One concept he grasps better than any other is time. For him, relationships are not static. What one feels one century could be very different in the next. Eirwen may love Fen’Harel now and have residual feelings, but she won’t forever. She’s going to change, grow into herself, and may come around to see him as a good alternative. She also may not. Dirthamen understands, perhaps better than the others, that there are many different kinds of love. Their partnership isn’t reliant on a sexual bond, though that bond is nice.

He isn’t is possessive, or insecure, his willingness to put on the vallaslin for her was a sign of his willingness to give up control. He’s able to set aside his ego and his pride for what is necessary, because he knows who he is. Whether he wears vallaslin or not, it doesn’t change who he is or where he’s been. He’s willing to let her sort out the speed at which she wants their relationship to move, and be there as an advisor, counselor, or moral support.

He doesn’t see himself in competition with Solas, because he doesn’t need to be. There’s room in her life for both of them, really. He’s overseen and experienced a parade of ever changing relationships between himself and his siblings. Falon’din has been linked to Andruil, and countless others. Fen’Harel has been linked to Andruil. Andruil has been linked to Ghilnan’nain, Dirthamen has been linked to (though never in a serious relationship with) both Ghilnan’nain and Sylaise. Sylaise is also with June. His approach to relationships between immortals is that they’re fluid, and sometimes it’s necessary to take breaks. For him, real love is about who we return to and not who we sleep with.

He’ll probably end up worrying more about the way Solas affects her mental health and the fallout of their past relationship than he will Solas himself.

He has his dark side and he is ruthless, but he isn’t proprietary and feels no sense of ownership. He gives what he wants to give, and expects no reciprocation. She’s free to give him what she can, that’s enough.

There are those who make him feel insecure (*cough* Falon’din *cough*), and those he’s actively concerned about (*cough* Sylaise *cough*) should they ever find out. On the whole though, he doesn’t see Solas as a competitor. A screw up worthy of pity, maybe. He will not compete with a ghost, or place himself at the disadvantage of time. The new provides opportunity, he’ll focus on differentiating himself and building a relationship between them that isn’t reliant on Solas’ shadow.

See her in danger though or under threat, and you’ll see his knives come out. One thing you don’t ever do is hurt the bae. If he’s got a bone to pick with Solas, it’s that. Funny to say, maybe, but he’s disappointed in Solas.

He expected better.

ok ! well @turnandchasethewind (olivia) & i have been working on the sketches for this show for like. a Long time lmao it has as most projects do grown & changed & become something entirely its own & i think it’s really awesome & lovely & am rly rly jazzed for it to move forward one day

anyway the working title for it is called views, & it basically follows sloane & nora, best friends who live & work in toronto. they met when they were 18/19 at a catering gig (terrible) & theyre the kind of love that is this epic soft quiet fun powerful love between female friends. they’re young & they’re a little lost always, & the world hurts, but like. they’re Good. the current storyline begins when they’re in their early/mid-twenties & nora meets ridley, who becomes her girlfriend. ridley is rly rly lovely & beautiful & whip smart & v kind & sloane hates her which is altogether mostly funny but a little sad

sloane ideally would be played by maia mitchell just for a visual but like. a grungier cooler hot mess version of maia bc like. sloane is a trash kid she’s our absolute fav she has tons of stick n pokes & her hair is a mess or buzzed (or both) & she will wear vans until they r literally falling off. she shops mostly at black market & she got this bike off kijiji that’s like 800% terrifying. she was diagnosed with bipolar I when she was 18 & shes on meds but its obviously still smth she deals with every day. shes from vancouver & she dropped out of mcgill after An Episode but mostly bc she hated it & she moved to toronto a few months after that (which is p much immediately when she met nora). shes like our token white character shes funny everyone drags her constantly abt so many things but they Love sloane. she eats Shit food unless nora’s parents buy her groceries & she drinks a lot & sometimes she has lil spirals but she has a dog named carly rae who helps a lot. she also has a big brother named whit he’s trans & he lives in brooklyn & she Adores him. shes a tremendously talented musician but ofc being a musician is v difficult so she also works a bunch of weird jobs between music gigs. she lives in a funky apartment in kensington w like six rotating roommates. she plays sets at the beaver all the time. if sloane was gonna write a song it would be ‘young’ by vallis alps but if sloane had a themesong its a tie between i wanna get better by bleachers & control by halsey & buzzcut season by lorde & then a rly rly sad cover of i rly like you by carly rae

sloane has a plot twist & falls in love w jack who is half-japanese & hes rly good friends w ridley which is the plot twist part a little but the BIG plot twist part is that she falls in love at all bc she is Convinced no one can handle her & she isnt stable enough for romantic love etc etc. but jack is so good hes so smart & hes a music therapist for kids on the spectrum its like Absurd how good a person he is. hes trans & hes abt to have top surgery like a few months after he meets sloane & she goes for a while & is like blah blah im not in love w him whatever its just sex but then shes So worried abt him being ok during & after surgery & she cares abt him so much & she gets Rly drunk & cries abt it to nora its funny. one day sloane is having a rly rly bad lil depressive episode & nora has been outta town all weekend w her parents & kennedy at their cottage in muskoka & so nora texts jack like. yo sloane has bipolar i she shouldve told u this but like i gotta tell u now bc shes havin a meltdown so pls go over & bring her food from fresh get the falafel tacos & like all the pressed juice ill venmo you & Pls make her shower if she buzzed her hair try to find the scalp treatment i got her from lush its in her dresser top drawer. also shes gonna wanna drink just let her do that & make sure she takes her meds she’ll be ok itll take a day or two & hes like ok. a lot but ok. & he goes & he brings sloane food & a tshirt of his & he gets her into the shower & out to the couch & puts on superstore & she curls up into him on one side & carly rae on the other & she cries a little but honestly its not so bad & like. hes so in love w her its wild she never thought that would happen its a fun plot twist even olivia & i didnt plan on

so anyway the whole show is kinda an ode to toronto & an ode to being young & in love w your friends in a rly profound way & also what its like to fall in love w ppl u might wanna spend ur life with, a kinda love thats v new. its abt queerness & gender & race in a way thats v much present but all of the main characters r rly informed & rly like passionate abt intersectional feminism & thats a cool aspect we r both v excited abt. also sloane deals v realistically w a balance between being stable w bipolar I & also being v creative & v connected to making music which is smth thats v important to me esp. nora was sexually assaulted before she met ridley (HATE!) but we delve into that as well. 

mostly like. its just ‘we’re never done w killing time/ can i kill it w you/ i’d like it if you stayed’
