Mr. Blackwood-Sims
Here’s a fluffy jmart fic! I got the idea for this one from @martian-archivist via the Martin Blackwood lovers discord. Note: I know this situation would be hypothetically taking place in England, but I’m basing it off of my experience in the American school system because I’m not familiar with the British one lol.
Warnings: none, just fluff and minor swearing :)
“Oh Martin,” Jon thought as he opened the refrigerator door. He was about to pack his lunch but realized that his husband had already packed it for him. A light blue lunch box dotted with tiny cows sat there, with a note that read I packed your favorite, salad with black EYED peas. Jon chuckled softly and got on his way. It was his first day teaching middle school English and he wasn’t about to be late.
It was 9:45, and his first students would start filing in any minute now. As much as he hated to admit it, he was nervous. Jon didn’t have much experience with kids. Sure, he and Martin had talked about having their own, but they didn’t feel quite ready yet. He reminded himself that teaching wasn’t parenting though, and were only his responsibility for an hour a day. Besides, he thought comfortingly, this could be good practice for he and Martin’s future. Jon smiled at the thought of a cozy life as a little family after all the hell they had endured.
Jon’s thoughts were interrupted by a student walking in. A short girl with straight black hair and eyes that matched sat at the very front seat. Then another student, a boy with brown hair and overalls who sat towards the back. One by one the middle schoolers continued filing in until the classroom was nearly full. He tried not to be daunted by all the curious eyes staring at him, waiting for instruction. After all were seated he stood up and cleared his throat. He took a deep breath and prepared to start his teaching career.
“Hello class. I’m very glad to be here with all of you today. I’ll be your English teacher for this school year. My name is Mr. Blackwood-Sims.” He paused. The class was dead silent, he had faced so many terrifying things in his life and never would have considered how scary a room full of children could be. Would they laugh? What if he was a bad teacher? What if his scars frighten them? No, he thought. Martin said I could do this. If he believes in me I can believe in myself.
So he continued to introduce himself and share some of what his class would be like. Then he encouraged the students to introduce themselves. Right away he was struck with admiration for all of them. These kids were the future. They were their own individuals with skills, talents, and a whole world ahead of them. There was Maria, who could play the guitar, and Latifah who wanted to be a doctor, and Sayeed who loved to draw dragons, and Jose who could speak two languages, and Mai who loved to bake bread, and so so many more kids full of wonder. He knew this job wouldn’t be easy, and that some students would be troublemakers. Some would be annoyed by him or even dislike him, but as of right now he loved every one of his students.
Jonathan continued to love them even after the first day. As time went by, he developed a good relationship with most of his students. They appreciated him and his gentle and understanding way of teaching. Sure, he looked a bit stern and scary, he didn’t make a lot of jokes like Miss King, and he didn’t jump on the desk to be silly like Mr. Stoker, but he was gentle and respectful. He treated his students like people, and sometimes even like grown-ups. He could also be counted on when someone was having a bad day.
Josephina would never forget the day Mr. Blackwood Sims asked her to stay after class. At first she was worried she was in trouble. She had been slacking a bit lately in her assignments anyhow. But when her teacher sat in front of her and his eyes were gentle, she wasn’t afraid anymore. “Josephina, are you okay? I see you talk less and less, and you keep missing assignments. You seem, withdrawn. Like, sad.” She looked at her feet in shame. “I’m not disappointed in you” Jon added quickly, seeing her expression. “I just want to know how I can help.” Suddenly the well of tears that Josephina had hidden so well over the past week sprung forth all at once. She tried speaking between the sobs, half explaining and half apologizing, but Jon stopped her. “It’s okay to cry. I’m going to get you some water and then we can talk... if you want.” She nodded.
After several minutes and half a glass of water, Josephina spoke. “I’m sorry Mr. Blackwood-Sims. Its... it’s my mom. She... she’s a really nice lady but she said something really mean.” She began to tear up again. “It’s alright Josephina, you don’t have to keep explaining if you don’t want to.” He said, trying to be cautious of her feelings. “No... no its okay I want to tell someone. Just, don’t be mad at me okay?”  “I won’t be mad. I promise” Jon said, wondering what this child could have done that she was so apologetic about. “There was a show on TV about this girl. But, the girl, she... she fell in love with another girl.” She stared down as though she had cursed. “And my mom said it was wrong. Like really wrong. She... she said they deserved to go, you know, to the bad place. The opposite of heaven.” Jon was about to say something but she continued before he could. “And and...” She burst into tears again. “and I think I’m a girl that likes girls. But I don’t want to go to ‘the h word’ when I die. And I-I don’t want my mom to h-hate me.” She choked out through a sob.
Jon felt himself tearing up as well. He thought of a phrase he had heard a while back. All children deserve parents but not all parents deserve children. He had opted not to tell his students about Martin for the fear of close minded parents, but in this moment he knew what he had to do. “I want to show you something.” He said. He picked up the framed photo of him and Martin that he kept on his desk. It was of the two of them in a field with some highland cows. He showed it to Josephina. “Do you know who this is?” He asked. “Your cousin? No, your uncle.” Jon stifled a laugh. “No. Josephina, this is my husband. His name is Martin.” All of a sudden, she stopped crying, a look of surprise and wonder on her face. “You-you mean you’re married to a boy?” Jon nodded. Josephina paused pensively for a moment. “But, but what about your mom? Or Martin’s mom? Aren’t you afraid you’ll go to the bad place after you die?” Jon simply smiled. “Niether my mom or Martin’s mom are here anymore, but I’m sure they wouldn’t mind. And if they did mind, we’d stil be together anyhow. That’s the thing about being a grownup, you can make your own decisions. Even if your mom doesn’t like it.” Josephina smiled slightly. “and about hell: Martin and I are very happy together. We make each other better people. We do good things for others. Most importantly, we love each other. Does that sound like a reason for us to go to hell? Because we love?” Josephine shook her head, looking as though she had just unlocked the secrets of the universe.
Jon had quite a few instances that year in which students talked to him about their problems. Jon knew their transparency and honesty with him probably had something to do with his beholding powers, but he would never abuse that ability with the kids. It made him sick to think about forcing a student to say something they didn’t want to. The students said they felt better after talking to him, so Jon took it as a good sign that he was simply building trust and being a good outlet for his student’s problems.
One day during his last period before lunch, Jon realized he had forgotten his lunch at home. He felt bad as Martin had gotten into the habit of packing them so lovingly. As if on cue, Jon’s husband knocked at the door of his classroom. He wore a visitors sticker with his name on it (accompanied by a smiley face) and was holding the blue cow lunch box. “Uh, hi. I hope I’m not interrupting.” Martin said sheepishly. realizing that all the students had turned to look at him. “Martin!!!” Josephina exclaimed, recognizing him from the picture her teacher had showed her on that important day. Martin smiled at her, a bit confused, and then looked at Jon who was stifling a laugh. “Yes class. This is Martin, the other Mr. Blackwood-Sims.” He took a deep breath. “My husband  is kind enough to bring me my lunch when I forget it. Yes, even teachers forget their lunch sometimes.” The class was a mixture of surprise, interest, and amusement. But there were no negative responses or judgmental glares. Josephina was beaming.
“I certainly hope he’s a better teacher than a cook. You guys would not believe how badly he burned the pancakes.” Joked Martin, causing giggles to fill the classroom. “Oh look I tried my best.” Jon replied, smiling. “Oh also,” started Martin. “You guys should start calling Mr. Blackwood Sims ‘Mr. BS’ for short. You know, like bullshi-””Martin!” At this remark the kids burst into laughter so hard a few nearly fell out of their seats. Even Jon laughed.
After that day his students continued to call him Mr. BS when the mood was light, or when Martin came in to deliver the blue cow lunch box. Jonathan Blackwood Sims had gone from a meek young teacher to somewhat of a legend at the school. “Yeah, his name is Mr. Blackwood-Sims. Don’t tell anyone, but sometimes we call his Mr. BS, you know, like the swear word. Also did you know he has a husband??”

Note
Your historical content is so nice and the simsmas calendar really is like an early christmas! is there any chance we'll see some of Nellie's outfits in the future, or the other dresses from Sam's 'Changes' book? What got you into making AG and historical stuff for the sims?
Thank you! I’m glad you’re enjoying Simsmas!
I won’t say ‘never’ for more of Samantha and Nellie outfits, since that’s one of my favorite periods to actually play; however, I have WIPs for Josephina and am REALLY looking forward to doing Kit so those will definitely be the next American Girl CC’s!

My Other Sim Stories...
For those who haven’t already read them all...here’s a list of all of my completed Sim stories (located on blogger)...
Metallic Heart (Completed Story, Sci-Fi) -  Unknown to us here on Earth, a secret project was started a few years back on the moon.  A group of humanoid simbots were sent to an area of the moon called Lunar Lakes, where they were programmed to build up a new society and test whether Lunar Lakes was habitable for humans.
Once it was determined that plants and animals could, in fact, thrive in Lunar Lakes, the first group of humans were sent there.  However, their arrival was less than welcomed by the simbots, who felt that humans would only serve as destructive forces to their society.  The humans have since been ostracized and forced to live in poverty at the edges of society.
It's up to a brave simbot named Ardis Bot 176 to show her humanoid peers that the humans can have a place in their world, but her courage comes at a cost.  Her career, her marriage, and her very life is in danger in her fight for a better way of life for Lunar Lake's human population. Click Here to Read Metallic Heart
Moonlight Visions (Completed Story, Supernatural Romance) -  Josephina Gates is an eccentric, fortune telling witch who is on a mission to save a mysterious man that she has never seen nor met.  She relocates to Moonlight Falls after seeing in a vision that he can be found there. It takes an unfortunate accident to bring the two of them together, but Josephina is not who she used to be.   Now, in her new form, she has to convince him to believe in her. Only in a town full of the supernatural, like Moonlight Falls, can she succeed. Click Here to Read Moonlight Visions
I Stole Evil (Completed Story, Light Horror/Psychological Thriller) -  The delivery of Diane Thompson's new baby does not go as planned...in fact, it goes terribly wrong and her new baby is not at all what she expected.  With her emotions awry, she makes a terrible decision that threatens to take away everything she's known and loved.  She's forced to face the consequences that come with stealing evil...
D2m's Note:  I started this story over 20 years ago when I was still in middle school, but I never completed it.  A few years ago, my son stumbled across the book and started reading it.  Dying to know how the story ends, he begged me to complete it.  I told him that not only would I complete it, but I'd rewrite it as a Sims 3 story.  Here's my attempt at finishing a story that I started over two decades ago... Click Here to Read "I Stole Evil"
Kingdom of Archolia (Completed Story, Medieval Tale) -  An unlikely queen born with no royal blood.  Her eloquence combined with fairness and kindness allowed her to rise to power in a land in desperate need of a monarch, but she secretly struggles with a weak constitution that threatens to end her reign once and for all. Will she succeed in building up the Kingdom of Archolia, despite her constant fear of falling ill? Click Here to Read “Kingdom of Archolia”

I WANNA BE PART OF YOUR WORLD
MISTERIOUS AS THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON
Dentre as quais, Mariya.
RUMOR HAS IT

YOU AIN’T TAKE ME DOWN
ARMAZENEM GRÃOS: Indução do inverno.
