i was thinking about how teenagers often look like grown-ass adults in fiction (and are often played by adults in live-action work) and i realised ithaqua kinda has the opposite issue. at least imo.

look at this baby-faced motherfucker. look at him. i don't know how much time passes between this and his whole going insane thing but i know it's not much considering the fact that he's seen later looking pretty much exactly the same shortly before becoming a hunter.

he looks slightly older but still very young in this shot. it may be just the angle or his expression but he still does look like a teenager.

and he looks slightly older here too, which again i believe is the expression because again—

like. a deeply haunted and traumatised baby but a baby nonetheless. by "baby" i mean "mid to late teens" because that's very much a baby when compared to the rest of the cast (plus i'm just calling him a baby bc it's funny). the point of this is that he looks very young when seen without his mask.

even in his concept art, he looks young. he's tall and lanky as hell, sure, but he still has a serious case of babyface.

LOOK AT HIM!!! when he's not doing that face on the far left of the close-up, he looks like a teenager. he looks Baby. and you're telling me he's a grown adult?? i think it's the size of his eyes plus the small smile and the wavy hair, but just in general he looks very young imo.

this isn't a dig at people who headcanon / portray him as older!! i know canonically he's a young adult (i'd imagine early to mid twenties?? that's where i always imagine "young adult" falling) and i'm very much in the minority here lmao. but i will always see this fucked up lil mama's boy as no older than nineteen tbh

Okay, so I know we all hate him, but Mahito is a legitimately brilliant villain...

#He's what happens when the trope of 'Villain just wanting to watch the world burn' is done right. #He's the embodiment of 'Fuck around and find out'. #Does he do morally incomprehensible things? Yes. Is that what makes him such a good bad guy? Also yes. #There's no arguing either... #90% of the fan base can't stand him and if that isn't proof of him being brilliantly written as a villain idk what is. #I think what I like the most about it is that there's no attempt to humanise or moralise him - at all. #He's bad. #Full stop. #And instead of making this reduce his character to one dimension; he's jam packed full of personality instead. #He's fun and carefree and silly - trying to figure out what else he can fuck up in the world. #He still has motivations and wants... Fuck; he even learns fear when he makes the mistake of touching Sakuna. #(This fear is also then his ultimate downfall as we realise it's his most defining trait...) #Also he's super fucking fun to watch in fights; lets be honest. #And his technique is cool as fuck. #Is this me coming out to say I'm kind of down for a bit of Mahito? #- Everyone look away - #Yes. Yes it is. #Is he a horrific; gross little gremlin man that deserves the worst and is probably responsible for killing your fave? #Yes. #Do I want to squish him into a little bottle and keep him on a shelf so I can shake him when I'm annoyed - #and let him out from time to time to have a little fun with? #Also; regrettably; yes.

my fave hc about hakuba is that he thinks he's all prim and proper. he certainly tries to present himself as one, but the moment he's with hattori he gets sucked into their petty competitiveness where they end up throwing playground insults and basically devolving into grade schoolers; he lets himself be dragged into whatever mess kaito is cooking up, even though he should know better, because he thinks he should act as the voice of reason when in reality he's just really curious and would deny ever joining in the said act if he ever did (he does); and when he's with shinichi you'd think they'd be all fine and dandy because they both love mysteries and sherlock holmes but they quickly realize that their type of mystery books besides sherlock holmes are completely different. they also discover that they love sherlock holmes for vastly different reasons and so every Sherlock Talk turns into a heated Sherlock Debate and according to kaito and hattori, it is seriously one of the nerdiest exchanges they've ever witnessed in their entire lives.

at one point someone finally points it out to him, "hey hakuba i thought you were a really calm and unapproachable dude but you actually have no fucking chill lol"

he brings this up to shinichi and shinichi's like, "yeah you don't, why do you think hattori and kaito still likes hanging out with you even when they claim that, and i quote, "your existence is insufferable and that you have a stick up your ass."

Define a woman!

I’m gonna rant this here cus this argument keeps returning on the clock app and one day, I’m gonna be stupid and leave a comment in the wrong thread or smthn so I’m just gonna get it out of my system:

“How do you define a ‘woman’?”

Answer for idiots: you can’t.

You cannot possibly make a definition for the term ‘woman’ without excluding someone from the group when they clearly ARE part of the group (even if you’re a piece of shit transphobe and don’t want to include trans women). A woman is someone who has the potential to give birth? You just excluded every child before puberty, every infertile woman and every woman on menopause, next. A woman is someone who has a uterus? You just excluded a bunch of intersex women and all women who had a hysterectomy, next. A woman has a period? Excluded the millions of women who never get their period for various reasons AND all the women who take continuous birth control AND women who are pregnant AND again, little girls and women on menopause. A woman has to have XY chromosomes? Are you gonna check that for every feminine-looking person you’re gonna meet? How? Do you not think women with down syndrome are women?

Decades of feminism working so hard to make sure women are more than their genitals and potential to give birth, all flushed down the drain because you refuse to believe trans women are more than men in wigs? You’re weak as shit.

So answer for people who actually want to use their brain:

Woman is defined through experiences. Which experiences? Entirely up to whoever defines themselves as a woman.

The ‘female experience’ is so broad. You cannot possibly define it in one sentence and stick it on everyone who calls the word ‘woman’ their own.

You feel feminine and empowered by doing your nails? Congrats, that’s the female experience and makes you, therefore, a woman.

You feel feminine and empowered by wearing plaid and splitting wood in two with a giant axe? Congrats! Female Experience. Woman.

You feel feminine in a dress? Woman. You feel feminine in a tux and suit? Woman.

You feel empowered as a mother and love being pregnant? Woman! You despise the idea of being pregnant but find empowerment in your career? Woman! You feel like your period makes you more in tune with your femininity? Woman. You feel like your period makes you less than human and getting a hysterectomy makes you feel more comfortable in your body? Woman.

you love long hair? Woman. You love short hair? Woman.

You love loving men? Woman. You love loving women? Woman. You love both? Woman. You love everyone? Woman. You don’t feel like love is your thing? Woman!

Sitting at home with a good movie and a bottle of wine? That’s a woman. Getting bloody in a game of soccer? That’s very woman! Taking a walk with your dog? How very woman! Going to the gym? Such woman! Eating out with friends? Friend woman. Shooting a gun in the yard from the patio you built yourself? All woman!

Whatever the fuck makes you feel in sync with your femininity is your female experience, and if you have female experience and you like it, you are a W O M A N ✨

Same goes for men and the male experience btw! Since the question “what defines a man” is never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever EVER asked for SOME 👀 reason. (We all know the reason….) Also same goes for my fellow enbies and the non-binary experience. If painting your nails bring you closer to your enbie side, you’re non-binary.

Gender is such a deeply personal experience, it’s just dumb to define it for someone else, let alone the entire human species. It’s like asking to define a chair, like, you KNOW what it is but you can’t possibly define it without excluding some chairs (“has at least 4 legs”, that’s a horse also swivel chairs exist).
