ようやく今年最初のグラスサインが完成。前回に引き続きデザインは100年ほど前に存在したグラスサイン会社のリプロダクト。今回はペイントを一切使わず全てミラー仕様。色を使用しないグラスサインも独特の美しさがありますね。ネットで手に入れたフレームもかなり趣があり、作品を更に引き立てています。さて、ここからはしばらくはネットで申し込んだワークショップの課題制作に励もうと思います。 #The first glass sign of the year is just completed. No rest for the wicked... This is the sale version of FORTUNES which will be a little neater and crisper, and the undercoat for SAUNA OPEN LATE in yellow, which will also be made as doubles so I can sell one and keep one.

No idea how to price these, the material costs are about £5-10 (The boards are the smallest ones I buy and come in at about £4.50, then alu leaf is at most about £2, and then there's between 35 and 60ml of paint, thinners, and varnish per board which is at most £2, and then time is an incredibly fungible question because I don't really work for blocks of time, I just sort of drib and drab at it for half an hour at a time for a couple of weeks. I suspect the answer is 'put it on the stall and see what people want to pay'.

High winds this morning, so turning the boat around in the dock was an achievement in itself - lots of people cursing and fending off approaching hulls with their feet. But we did it, and now the other half is facing the walkway and available to be got at with power tools.

As promised, a before and after shot :)

Before - the miserable grey, black and red livery of Drake's Drum

After - the aqua, silver and purple livery (with eel) of The Drake's Return.

The lettering all signwritten by me over the weekend, and the eel put on freehand.

Other side still to sand and paint. Also we'll be sanding and painting inside the fresh water tank. So we won't be finished in another week, but two more weeks might do it.

年内最後のグラスサインが完成。今回も約100年前にシカゴに存在したグラスサインメーカー「Rawaon & Evans」の作品をリプロダクト。現存する資料は白黒なので、何色だったかは完全に想像の世界。今回は紺色の背景にゴールドの文字にしてみました。フレームはオークションで格安で手に入れた品。ノーマルなフレームもいいですが、たまにはこんなユニークなデザインもグラスサインには合いますね。 The last glass sign of the year is completed. The existing refarences are in black and white, so it is completely imaginary what color it was. This time, I decided to use gold letters on a dark blue background.
