You can’t just associate Shuri with fire. You can’t just use it to represent her and her emotions. You can’t just have that be the thing that Namor latches onto, the thing he relates to and wants to nurture, “let’s burn it together.” Then later reveal that FIRE is his weakness. The Immortal God King is weak to FIRE. WEAK TO SHURI. You can’t just do that and not expect me to have a MELT DOWN over it.

ON TOP OF THAT, her being associated with the SUN. The sun being the hand gesture of Namor’s people, Namor literally and figuratively saying, “I brought the sun to my people.” You can’t just have her rip off Namor’s wings like the sun melted Icarus’s and then burn/melt him with fire.

YOU CANT JUST DO THAT AND SAY STOP SHIPPING THEM.

I think if given the chance or enough exposure, Namor would inadvertently teach Shuri how to be more in touch with the ancestral, spiritual and traditional parts of her identity that she is disconnected from, both by personality, keen interest in tech, and all of her grief and loss. He’s rooted in his ancestral heritage and commitment to his mom’s legacy, his people, and protecting their ways of life, while also utilizing advanced technology and being so curious and adaptable (aka preparing for war against the surface dwellers and trying to forge an alliance with Wakanda lol), showing her that both can coexist meaningfully. And then in that way, this would give Shuri a new way to relate to her late mom, to feel connected to her mother in ways she hadn’t before— healing the part of her that felt such guilt for shirking off her mother’s attempts to pass on wisdom— and while it wouldn’t ever bring Ramonda back, it’d be because of Namor that she has a piece of her mother that she never would have otherwise had. She wouldn’t forgive him for being part of her mother’s death, but she’d be grateful for how he helped her have this new, meaningful connection to herself and her fallen family, especially her mom, and that would create a next layer of deep sense of intimacy between her and Namor (and then open the door for a burgeoning relationship between them).

Probably already talked about, but the idea that they’re both super important for the safety of their people. Talokan needs Black Panther, and Wakanda needs Namor. Like no matter what, these two need each other and will always be connected. They have to protect and care about each other (if they want to keep their people safe). Ok... I literally see people saying that Namor lied to Shuri right in the face besides killing his mother and like... When ? How ? Where the hell did he lie to her in the movie ?! It literally never happened ! On the contrary, he has always been very clear and honest with her ! I hear people don't like this ship. But denying the undeniably romantic aspects and making up negative things that don't exist, just to justify hating the ship in question is profoundly stupid.

Besides, literally I'm sick of seeing the fact that he killed his mother repeated over and over as justification that the ship will never happen. Really, you had to see/read very little, if any, enemy-to-lover story in your life to say that. Literally Shuri and Namor would be among the softest I've seen / read in this sense to say !

This is how Wakanda Forever ended, right? 

This drawing really got away from me, but it’s finally DONE.  I knew that I didn’t have it in me to draw Namor in all of his Mesoamerican finery, so I cheated and got creative with Photoshop magic.  I also thought that Shuri’s outfit should be minimalist to provide a fun contrast, but of course, she’s wearing the jade jewelry that Namor had given her in Talokan.

And in a nod to Wakandan modesty, Namor actually put on some clothes a tunic.  It is his wedding day, after all.
