Shout out to the medic nins in the Naruto world who keep trying to piece things back together in a world made of violence and destruction.

Shout out to Lady Chiyo, who created a jutsu to give her life force to bring a puppet to life because she knew Sasori missed his parents. Later, Chiyo used that technique to save a girl who took a sword to a vital point to protect her and told her to use the last of the antidote for poison. Later, Chiyo used it to save Gaara after he was long gone, hoping it'd make the world a better place. It was her love that defeated Sasori, what brought him down in the end.

Shout out to Tsunade, who saw the corpse of her little brother after an ambush. She fought so that every team could have a healer having their back and fell in love with the man that supported her. The same man who died with Tsunade's hands covered in his blood, the other man she couldn't save. Shout out for her for saving so many nins, for overcoming her trauma, for becoming hokage and draining herself again and again and again to save others. Shout out to the woman who got cut in half and fought her way back and kept healing and lived to see the world she promised Nawaki and Dan, the world they'd have wanted to create.

Shout to Karin, who was used and abused and who got treated like trash, whose mom died of giving things she didn't want to give, who got bitten in far too private places since she was nothing but a kid. And yet she used her skills to save others. And yet she fought.

Shout out to Shizune, who never left Tsunade's side, who followed the step of her uncle and the woman that should had been his wife. Tsunade, who lost too much in one war and then led the medic corps on the next, the woman who stepped as counselor and assistant for both Tsunade and Kakashi, who cared for the wellbeing of the village more than in just the physical aspect.

Shout out to Kabuto, found his way back from the darkness and devoted his life to atone and heal and do as much good as he could.

Shout out to Rin, who saw one of her teammates get crushed by a rock and had to perform field surgery to remove his eye and give it to her other teammate. The girl who fought and loved and who preferred to die by a friend's hand than to be used as a weapon against the people she loved.

Shout out to Sakura, who saw two of the most realities develop in her teammates lives, so she promised she would become the absolute best and find a way to be strong enough to deal with the aftermath. The girl who used herself as a human shield to protect older people and kids and teammates and enemies. She healed Karin, she offered to be Chiyo's puppet and she held her in death and she led Konoha's hospital and saw it get totally destroyed by Pain, fallen to her knees. She was beaten and mocked and insulted and pushed aside, never enough, but when the medic nins couldn't reach the battlefield, she unlocked in record time and ability only the best medic nin possessed to heal them, so she could fight. In a world of powers and gods, she kept Naruto's heart beating with her hand, breathing for him.

Shout out to every medic nin who got targeted and killed and who risked their lives to save the lives of others. Shout out to the strength it takes to never break, even when death is something you face every day, not only in the battlefield. Shout out to their saviour complexes and the ones who become martyrs and the ones who forget to take care of themselves because they are as valuable.

Medic mins will forever be one of my favorite parts of the Naruto universe.

(Kid) Shizune and Rin’s study session

As being the only medic nins in their class they would have study sessions with each other to help w/ assignments.

This is going to be a bit of a self-projection but I headcanon that both of them enjoys learning the human anatomy, medicine, and (possibly) poison [idk if either was ever stated to enjoy or uses poison]. To intimately understand the body and all of its complexity is (for me) a eye opening thing, which makes it more intriguing. To understand how to bring a body back into its peak w/ medicine and to learn how to destroy it w/ poison is the duality that I love about medic ninjas (and any healers of any universe).

also something i liked to do when I was taking anatomy class was to draw the skeleton, and some of the organs so that can a hc for either or both, you decide

That said, I also wanted to say thank you for all of the love I received for my drawings lately and I’m glad you guys are enjoying them.

My thought process:

Ino Yamanaka

Pros: Defined Sakura's life the way Iruka and Itachi did with Naruto and Sasuke; first person to be by her side in the manga; always taking care of her and encouraging her; petty sibling relationship.

Cons: They are the same age; more of a rival / best friend relationship to some people.

Shizune Kato

Pros: Sibling coded given the fact they are both apprentices of Tsunade; cares for Sakura as an older sibling would; good relationship; Shizune is older than Sakura; helps her with medic nin chores; work together.

Cons: It's not as close to Sakura as the other two options / doesn't know Sakura that well.

Kakashi Hatake

Pros: he spend the entire manga making sure that Sakura wouldn't die; knows Sakura to the point he can predict what she's planning to do / knows her more than the other options; older than Sakura; has a massive soft spot for her.

Cons: more of a sensei-student relationship for some people; could be motivated by his trauma with Rin.

How would things go if you took a Genin team consisting of little Anko (shortly after Orochimaru's betrayal), Kushina & Shizune?

Hitting right where it hurts, huh?

Well, it would definitely be an opportunity to show the dumb conservatives in this village that there's more to a kunoichi than just healing, and definitely potential for more girls in teams instead of only one.

Kushina, being from a different generation, would be a good role model for the other two, not just with her skills but also her enthusiasm and ambition! I like that! With her huge chakra reserves, there are plenty of techniques she would master easily, and it would be nice to have someone else to pass along the fuuinjutsu I learned from Mito-baa-san, an Uzumaki would be ideal!

Anko... that's a bright kid, alright. Orochimaru always knew how to spot those. I'm not sure if I would be a good role model for her, personality-wise, she could end up being even more of a troublemaker, but I could help her develop her poisons and its effectso with some medicinal knowledge and more precise chakra control. I hear she can be somewhat scary, and I can only imagine how much more powerful she would be if we worked on her physical strength as well!

As for Shizune, of course I already taught her, but... Maybe not being trained alone would break her out of her shell some more? Sage knows I haven't always been the most... adequate shishou to her, and she spent so long looking after me when it should have been the other way around... Oh well, it is what it is, we all have regrets, don't we? She turned out fine, but perhaps working in a team with those two would influence her temper... and deadliness... Now that would be a sight to behold!
