at first, thomas was kinda like "ehhhhhhhh", he wasnt the biggest fan of kids but he still smiled at them when they called his name and replied when they asked him questions

so like, lets say u really like kids, cause i mean some are literal balls of sunshine and compliments and stupid moments. but u arent ready for ur own child and the responsibility of taking care of and raising a human, so u decide a private daycare is the best place for you to work at. plus, u used to be a kid in there, so it felt natural

over the time he came to pick u up from daycare for dates, or because he felt like it. he didnt mind the kids lunging at him when they saw him, not that much at least. it was cute that they liked him so much they wanted to hug him, he started to feel honoured.

it becomes standard practice for him to come by the daycare at least an hour before your shift ends so he can spend some time with the little girls that warmed up to him over the times he came to pick u up. and its fucking adorable ill tell u that

You hold the paper drawing close to your chest, hugging the little girl as she beamed with pride. "It is the best gift I've ever gotten. Thank you" you say, and she giggles in your embrace. She was used to giving you gifts, and her drawings were the thing you looked most forward to at the end of the day.

"No gift for me?" Thomas complains, and he crosses his arms across his chest, mock hurt. "I have an even better gift for you!!!" she all but squeals, and you can't begin to think what it could be.

The girl motions for Thomas to kneel down to her level, and he does just that, sitting on the soft carpet cross legged. The girl climbs on his lap and gives him a peck om the cheek, giggling as she pulls away from him.

Thomas seems in awe, and the cutest smile is etched on his face. "Are you sure I deserve it?" he asks, mouth fallen open. The girl seems very entertained, a satisfied smile on her face as she nods at Thomas. Your boyfriend smiles back at her, grabbing her little body and holding her high in the air, spinning her a couple times just as he knows she likes. The little girl is screaming with laughter and the same screech that made Thomas cringe less than two months ago now made the smile on his face brighter than the overhead lamps.

He sets her down, and she pulls him in a hug. It looks comical, their height difference has Thomas curled over in a ball so she can hug him. You can't help but beam at them.

You reflectively check the clock above their heads, and the time nears 5pm. "Ann, how about you go get your stuff ready? Mommy will be here any moment, and we have to tell her how good you've been today". She nods along and runs to the room with the little desks, gathering her stuff.

"Apologise"

Thomas looks at you confused. "You hated kids when I met you,". Thomas relaxes his shoulders, a breathy laugh leaving his throat. "Okay fine, you were right. Maybe not all kids are little shits that scream when you are trying to sleep on any means of transport"

You stiffle a laugh at his phrasing. "God, you make my job so much harder" you admit, and he furrows his brow, crossing his hands in front of his chest. "I thought I made it easier and more fun?". You eye him from your peripheral and his composure wavers. "All the girls I have after three are all on you! Always asking where you are because they want a hug or something"

Thomas sucks in an amused giggle. "Long gone are the hugs I used to get from them when the mum's dropped them off," you complain, and Thomas can't hold the amused chuckle.

"Oh, you want hugs too?" he asks, letting his arms drop to his side. "Well, you're just in luck, my arms are empty right now". You turn at Thomas, and he is inching closer, arms spread out. "Thomas wai-" you don't get a chance to finish your sentence before he's on you, holding you tight as you try to relax your hands.

"Thomas wait, god-" you say, hands holding on his hips hard when he moves to hug you from the back, pulling you off your feet. A surprised yelp leaves your mouth when he spins you both around, your hands holding his forearms where he is resting them, just a but lower than your shoulders.

You calm down from the surprise hug attack, but he attacks your neck next, leaving little pecks and kisses all over it. You try your hardest not to squeal too loud, even if his lips are tickling your neck. Little laughs drop from his mouth and hus breaths just make the tickling sensation worse. You try to free yourself from his embrace but his grip is strong, and you can't hold back the high pitched calls of his name as he continues to run his lips all over your neck, avoiding your thrashing hands expertly.

You aren't sure you can even form proper sentences. "Thomas, stop please, god, I have to talk to Annie's m-uh m," you try, and he pulls away with a giggle. You try to catch your breath before locking eyes with the mum in question.

"Shi- I mean, oops. I am so sorry, someone distracted me," you say, glaring daggers at your boyfriend. The mum doesn't seem too impressed, just busy on her phone.

"I'll get Ann, if you may stay with Tom for a second, I promise he's nice" you say and the mum dismisses you with a wave of her hand.

You shake your head as you go looking for Ann in the playground, smiling too wide at the redness Thomas made on your neck from his stubble.

Criminology 101

A/N: Greetings my horny lil nuggets. I haven’t been on tumblr in ages so I’m a bit rusty with its revamped layouts (but i’ll improve, calm ur tiddies). Anyhoo, I thought I’d share a fanfic of professor!spencer and student!reader. Feel free to harass me in my inbox (?) with tips on how to properly do these things.

Plot/Summary: It’s (y/n)’s first criminology course taught by the infamous Dr. Spencer Reid. She’s been aching for a seat in his class for quite some time and is honoured to finally be in his presence.

CHAPTER 1

I walk down the hallway, the soles of my heels clacking on the smooth floors, shooting a smile at someone I recognize as I sip on my hot tea. I run past a couple of classes, determining which one I’m supposed to be in, rattled by the number of rooms that’s there on a single floor. Soon enough, a girl shorter than me sees me struggling, and approaches me with a soft smile. “Let me guess, criminal psychology?” she asks, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. “Well, I am trying to locate the goddamn classroom but I have no idea were it is. It’s supposed to be here, right in between room 506 and 508, but its just, not?” I say as I point at the two large rooms. “I was in your shoes about a year ago. Dr. Reid had his classroom relocated to the adjacent building. Something about adequate sunshine for the proper growth of the mind. Any-hoo, you should find it at Morgan Building, on the third floor.” She says, tilting her head slightly to the right, as though she’s lost in a sort of trance while speaking of Dr. Reid. I thank her, and make my way back down the flight of stairs. I’ve heard my fair share about Dr. Reid.

Flocks of girls would register for his criminal psychology class, uninterested in the very subject itself but willing to sacrifice hours of their time to ogle at him, which left people like me who were actually interested to take a far much more boring course to fulfil the credits. It was a wonder I even got into his class, and I sure as hell wasn't going to be late on the very first day. As I make my way to Room 507, I dump my tea in a trashcan and adjust my black V-neck.

Honestly, the way I’m dressed, with skinny black jeans, a loose V-neck that shows the upper hem of my bralette, and a pair of black leather boots, I stuck out like a sore thumb. I notice the rest of the girls wearing the shortest of skirts, and twirling strands of their flaxen hair. Compared to them, I look like a scarecrow. I wonder if I should mimic their wardrobe choices too. I’ve never been one to stray away from my standard monochrome outfits but I’m sure as hell willing to try if I could appear the least bit alive. Eventually, the TA arrives to open the door and let us all in. I make a mental note to friend the TA, who’s tall and skinny, with a stoic expression on his face. Well, he certainly seems my type.

Despite Dr. Reid’s popularity on campus, I had never actually seen him. Sure, I had heard my dorm-mates gushing about his curly brown hair and year-round stubble, and as much as I had enjoyed the picture, they drew of him, I was never so curious as to look up what he looked like. So, when I sat myself on the third row and heard a gush of whispers erupting as a tall man with broad shoulders entered the auditorium, I knew for a fact that my dorms-mates hadn’t even been close to capturing this man’s beauty. He wore a dark blue linen suit, slightly thicker than your common on-the-rack pieces which clearly indicated he had it tailor made. The way the suit jacket fit his broad shoulders, but simmered down to fall beside his skinny torso, made me admire the way his body was so uniquely built. I could see his charm, and I would be lying if I said I wasn’t the tiny bit attracted to him myself. But despite it all, what truly had me interested in him from the first place was not his appearance, but his reputation and history. He’d has a stint in jail for a couple of months, for reasons he has never disclosed to the general public, after serving as an FBI profiler at the BAU for over 12 years. He had joined when he was just 22, the youngest to be employed at the unit, and had already been one of the most qualified. With doctorates in criminal psychology, Greek, philosophy, and even linguistics, he had an omnipotent air of academia and knowledge surrounding him. I had always admired his erudition and was honored to learn from him.

I opened my laptop in front of me, and was scrolling through the notes I had made on the reading material he had forwarded to us, when he began to speak.

“Good morning everyone. I apologize if any of you got lost along your way to my class, I prefer to teach in larger environments with open air circulation. The other block had the classroom as a prison cell, and I’ve already had that experience, and I’d prefer to let bygones be bygones. However, I hope most of you have had the chance to skim through the material I had circulated, if not at least read the titles of it. For the following few weeks, we’ll be covering the foundational elements of criminal psychology, from your famous profiling techniques to not-so-famous geographical isolation methods. Albeit a heavy coursework, I’m sure all of you in will manage, if not excel. My office hours are every Thursday and Friday, from 4pm to 6pm. Any other doubts regarding the marking schemes can go directly to Tony who’ll help you out.

“And that’s about it. Welcome to Criminal Psychology 101 and I’m Dr. Spencer Reid.” He finishes his introduction, absolutely captivating every single member of the class with his voice.

It wasn't that he was speaking loudly, or that he spoke with some sort of energetic fervor, it was the way his words had been laced together and presented, like a string of Christmas gifts to hungry toddlers. Everyone had leaned to the front of their desks, trying to capture his sentences as though they were physical entities floating in the atmosphere. Most of the girls had their books still in their bags, and had lowered their tank tops to expose soft and supple skin. The guys, on the other hand, had soon diverted their attention from the main stage to the said girls’ courting mechanisms. I was amused at their behavior, but it was understandable.

I was no one to judge, for I would’ve done the same thing if I hadn’t been so in love with subject that it no longer mattered to me who was teaching it. In the days to come, this belief would be obliterated time and again. But for now, I was only interested in Dr. Reid’s words.

Character in general: daenerys. oh, my fiery lil queeeeen. i adore her and even through this latest stunt that d&d have pulled ... i still adore her and i’m hoping that they somehow manage to turn her around and make her humane once again. its the least she deserves. How they play them: briliantly !! we haven’t interacted in character much yet ... a little in our modern verse and i did you a starter for s8 with dany on the throne but. thats as far as it has gone so far. i have read some of ur stuff as it pops up on my dash and i just want to say thank you. thank you for giving daenerys that voice still that she has continuously had throughout the previous seven seasons. thank you for making her human instead of the demonic monster the show writers have written her to be. The Mun: oh look !!!!! its my favourite portugese. you are an absolute ray of sunshine berry. genuinely, one of the sweetest people i have ever met. albeit, a little nerdy but whats the negativity in that. you are somebody that i think i could sit and talk to for hours just because you are soo funny and so lovely and. just all round, an incredibly uplifting person. you use your negative experiences and take them to try and help and empower the people around you and i think that is such an honourable thing as people don’t particularly like going back to the hardships in their life but you seem to do it to put others before you and i think that is such an amazing, admirable and brave trait to have and i love u for it.

Marina Tabassum wins Soane Medal for architecture

Bangladeshi architect Marina Tabassum has been awarded the 2021 Soane Medal in recognition of her "architecture of relevance".

Tabassum, the founder and principal architect of Marina Tabassum Architects (MTA), was born and works in Bangladesh and is known for her sustainable architecture which aims to improve the lives of the country's ultra-low-income people.

One of her best-known works is the Bait Ur Rouf Mosque, which features perforated brickwork so that sun and air can reach its prayer hall, and which won Tabassum the Aga Khan Award for Architecture in 2016.

A jury of leading architects and critics chose Tabassum as the winner of this year's Soane Medal, which recognises practitioners who further understanding of the importance of architecture in people's lives.

Tabassum "consistently demonstrates the ways in which architecture can improve lives and her work with Rohingya Refugees at Cox’s Bazaar showcases the potential of architects to contribute to solving the problems society faces today," said jury chair and Sir John Soane's Museum director Bruce Boucher.

"From her Bait ur Rouf Mosque to Dhaka's Independence Monument, Tabassum has created buildings which bring communities together and foster a distinct sense of place," Boucher said.

"Her research into dwelling in the Ganges Delta and Bengali courtyards suggest alternative models of building, habitation and ownership which have the potential to inform architectural practice more widely," he added.

"All her work is underpinned by a focus on sustainability and Tabassum is truly leading the conversation about the ways in which architecture, people and planet interact."

In addition to her architecture practice, Tabassum has held educational positions at TU Delft, Harvard University, the University of Texas and BRAC University in Dhaka.

She describes her human-centric, sustainability-driven approach to practice as "the architecture of relevance".

"I am honoured to have been chosen to receive this recognition from such a distinguished institution as the Soane Museum," Tabassum said."

Tabassum's recent projects have seen her working in Rohingya refugee camps in Cox's Bazar and designing low-cost Khudi Bari ("Tiny House") mobile and modular housing kits for families affected by flooding in the Ganges delta region.

She was given the Soane Medal at a ceremony in London on Tuesday, 16 November. Established in 2017 by Sir John Soane's Museum in London, the prize recognises the work of architects, educators or critics whose work has furthered and enriched the public understanding of architecture.

They sat away from everyone else, happy in their own silence while the rest of them argued about wars and soldiers and King's. Azriel sat and carefully watched the gentle weaving Elaine was doing with the daisy's in her hands. Her long fingers moving quickly, back and forth, twisting the stalks together into smooth curves that were tangling in her lap. A small smile was on her face and he couldn't stop himself from noticing the way it made her eyes shift into warmer tones and make her whole face glow with a certain joy he had never seen anyone else posses. Not even Mor, whose presence had long since stopped lifting his shadows unless Elaine was with her. He supposed Mor and Elaine had formed some sort of a friendship, although everyone had formed a friendship with her, everyone in Velaris loved her, her smile, her laugh, the constant joy in her step despite everything. But no one was immune to pain, or hurt, or sadness. And he could feel it inside of her, feel her sorrow, and her need to cry and go home inside of her everyday. Like a constant pain in his heart. He could feel it now, despite her smile because even from this distance, high on the cliff face of a garden the voices of his brothers and Mor drifted to them. Cassian and Rhys were two words short of threatening the other and Mor was barley keeping the peace. "Let me help," he said, she nodded, letting the line hang between them and while she platted he untangled being careful not to break of a single petal. "I know you want to be planning with them, you don't have to babysit me." "I'm not, and right now I think it's better of I didn't have to argue with them." "What do you mean?" Her fingers flattered for a second and he didn't speak until she regained her rhythm. "Well Nesta in the end is going to come out with the best idea and just sitting there arguing until she speaks would be rather boring for me." She looked up from under her lashes and gave him a shy smile that made his heart skip a beat and then pound to make up for it. "But untangling Daisy chains isn't boring." "It's the most interesting thing I've ever done," he teased although something inside of him made it feel as if he wasn't lying. She gave him that shy smile again and one of his own slipped onto his face without warning. His shadows began to brighten when she didn't break away from his gaze and he almost blushed when he looked back down at the chain and say that it was tangling in between his fingers. Silently they got back to their work, but he could feel Nesta's eyes on his back, marking him as a target if Elaine so much as looked mildly upset while in his company. If it wasn't for the fact she scared the shadows out of him he would've told her to mind her own business. "Finished," Elaine giggled, passing him the last of the daisy's which slipped like silk through his fingers. It now lay between them, dancing softly in the breeze. Nesta and the rest of his family had stopped arguing long ago and he suspected they had moved else where when the wind had picked up and threatened to blow away their maps and plans. "It's beautiful," he smiled, lifting up a small stretch of it and playing with it between his fingers. "Would you like to wear it?" She teased, picking up her own stretch and admiring her work. "Or is it too girly for you?" A deep chuckle rose through him and he shook his head. "It would be an honour," she smiled, like sunshine through a heavy clouds and leaned towards him. The chain seemed to slither into her hands of its own accord and she wasted no time wrapping it around his head in a loose crown. He smiled as she did so, unable to notice how close her body was to his, the way her scent of roses and peppermint intoxicated him, made him dizzy, made him want to hold on to her to stop the world from spinning. "Ta da," she breathed, making him shiver as he felt around his head at the crown. "Do I look as beautiful as I feel?" He asked, waiting for her to stand before he too stood up, stretching his wings and body after hours of sitting. "Depends on how beautiful you feel?" Multiple lines rose to his head, each worse than the last, each one trying to complement her in return. He couldn't settle on anyone of them so he smiled, turning to fave the edge of the cliff and looking to sea below. She stood too and they stayed silent for all of two minutes. "You're very pretty when you smile," she murmured, almost afraid to say the words too loudly in case the sea threw them back at her. "Pretty is not a word that's often used to describe me." He looked at her from the corner of his eyes and saw him fidgeting with her hands, the smile slowly leaving her face. "I think it should be used,"she said in the same careful voice. "Why?" He turned around to face her and she slowly did the same. "Because I think you're pretty," she offered, her hands still fidgeting nervously. He reached out his own hands to claps around hers. They were cold and shaking and seemed to tense when his hands encompassed them completely. He was aware she was Lucian's mate but he couldn't stop himself from wishing sometimes that she wasn't, that she wasn't claimed, that her heart wasn't meant for someone else's. "You may be the only one who thinks that," he murmured, stepping in closer as the wind whipped around them, making her hair lift and toss wildly and the crown on top of his head fall away. He was too slow to stop all of it, but a he managed to catch a single Daisy between his fingers before it too left. He noticed the sadness fall into Elaine's eyes, saw her watch the chain fly away and float to the sea. "Here," he breathed, holding out the broken daisy. She looked down slowly and when she saw the crushed petals her face lit up again. He smiled, reaching up to tuck the daisy behind her ear and spread his wings to shelter them from the wind. She looked at the wings and smiled again, reaching out a hand to place on the lighter membrane. He shuddered, closing his eyes and butting back a moan as she moved her hand up and down the span of them. "Sorry," she said abruptly, drawing back her hand and he opened his eyes, desperately trying to regain control of his breathing. "You're fine, they're just sensitive." "But they're so-" "Pretty?" He offered and watched as she bit her lip and nodded, before letting off a slight shiver. "Are you cold?" She shook her head and he stepped in closer wrapping his wings tighter around them. "If you are tell me because if I bring you back even a degree cooler than you're meant to be Nesta will have me on trial." She giggled, like an unexpected bubbling of noise. "I don't know why you're so scared of her." "I'm not scared," he said, "just aware that she's very protective and has very good aim." He thought again for a moment before adding. "I blame Cassian for ever teaching her to throw knives." "That would be because he likes her and was trying to impress her." He nodded and was aware of how close their bodies were. "Do you like anyone enough to teach them how to throw knives?" Their was an innocence but yet a need in her question. He was too stunned to think of a lie. "I know of people I wouldn't mind teaching those sort of things to, but theirs only one who I'd want too." "Is it Mor?" She whispered and he looked down at her, properly saw her before shaking his head, she bit her lip again and he almost groaned, moving in closer to her, needing to feel her. She reached up a hand and traced his lips, an almost involuntary movement that he couldn't move away from. "I wish I didn't have a mate," she admitted, still tracing his lips and he had to steady himself by gripping her waist to stop him stumbling into her. She didn't reject his touch. She almost seemed too arch into it, a small gasp escaping her lips. "What's wrong with having a mate?" He breathed, his voice barely audible against the howling wind. "I don't know him. He betrayed Feyre. I don't want him to be my mate, or my friend, or my anything." "A mating bond works both ways," he muttered against her finger tips. "You don't have to accept it." "Really?" He nodded, bringing her body into his, letting the side of him that was raw and desperate show through the cracks of his shadows. "And what happens to the other person?" "If they love you enough," he was breathless as he spoke, "they'll accept it." "And if they don't. If they don't love me enough?" "They don't deserve you." She moved her fingers from his lips and held his face between her hands. "And who does deserve me?" She begged. "You're too good for all of us if I'm being honest." "Does that mean I deserve no one," she whimpered and he began to see her cracks, the sadness, the need, the depression that she hid from everyone else. "It means you deserve the world." Slowly he slid a hand from her waist and began teaching her lips with his fingers, cupping her cheek, listening to the hitch in her voice as if she was about to let all the tears she restrained finally flow. "And what about you? Do I deserve you?" He shook his head and she closed her eyes, creasing her forehead in pain. "But I want you." His heart stilled before leaping violently in his chest. "It's just a want Elaine," as he said her name he thought he had never heard something so beautiful. "You could wake up tomorrow and want your mate," he tried not to make the word sound like venom but it was as possible as not loving Elaine was and he may have failed at that. "I need you," she whimpered, inching her face upwards, eyes fluttering open. "I- please Azriel." Possibly her saying his name was sweeter than him saying her's. "Elaine," he breathed in warning, but he couldn't stop her, he wouldn't stop her as she reached up on her toes and wrapped her arms around his neck. He dipped his head, pulling her body firmly into his. And when she didn't balk, didn't run away from his shadows which were dancing in wild flurries, when she pulled his head in closer he kissed her. She moaned against his lips, pressed her body against his, curled her fingers in his hair and he could do was go still, gripping her waist tightly as she kissed him and eventually his body responded. His lips parted and he felt her tongue slid against them. Shuddering, feeling his wings wrap in closer he let loose a small groan as he let himself loose control, as his shadows rolled around like the waves below them. When she pulled away, flushed faced and shy he wrapped her in his arms, leaving down and kissing her softly, letting their bodies mould together. Hours later when they arrived back Nesta was waiting alongside Rhys and Cassian. Elaine simply glared at her in warning before going to her room. That night after a sparing match with the oldest sister he found himself knocking in Elaine's door. *so I actually did that, I did the fanfic, there is no turning back now.
