Steve and Robin lose their job at Family Video in the wake of that fateful Spring Break but not for the reasons one might think. It wasn’t because they closed early on one of their busiest days to track down the town’s infamous ‘murderer’. It wasn’t because they skipped their shifts for four days in a row. It wasn’t even because they told Keith to his face that ‘they would rather die in the earthquake and fall into hell than work another boring shift’.
No, they lost their jobs because of a grudge they kept. Both Steve and Robin refused to sell any tapes to anyone they thought may have been involved with Eddie’s manhunt, unfair people’s trial, or the continued harassment after he was proclaimed innocent. Justifiably, they had their reasons.
“Oh no Andy, we can’t let you rent this one. You’ve already lost enough brain cells being brainwashed by Jason. Maybe watch the news or something.”
“Mrs. Wheeler? You absolutely may not rent anything. Maybe go call the police again since that’s what you like doing.”
“Oh ho ho, Officer Callahan! Funny to see you here, you know, not hunting down children. Get out of here. Come back when you have a warrant, asshole.”
So yes, they lost their jobs but not their dignity. Inevitably, when they went back to the Munson’s new trailer or to Steve’s empty house, they had what really mattered. They could watch the movies off of tapes they stole, Steve could cuddle in Eddie’s scarred arms, and Robin could rant about how many films would be better with lesbians in them. As it should be.
(They lose a series of jobs after Family Video as well. Robin and Steve get fired from the diner, the library, and Melvald’s all for refusing business to the asshats that made Eddie’s life hell. Because in their eyes, the whole town could suck it.)

The real reason Katara didn't do anything in LoK. She was not taking this disrespect.
She doesn't get a statue? When even the cabbage merchant did? Get out of her house.

‼️MAJOR POKEMON SCARLET AND VIOLET: THE TEAL MASK DLC SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT! ABSOLUTELY DO NOT OPEN IF YOU DO NOT WANT SPOILERS!!!!!‼️
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!!!!!! GRAAAHHHH!!!!!!!!!
Do you understand that I would actually die for you. The minute I saw your face I screamed, and then was overcome with emotion and started crying (I actually did this like I’m not even exaggerating here. I actually broke out into ugly sobbing. I am dead serious.).
You are my everything sweet little baba grill. Please sign the adoption papers. I want you in real life.
Edit: Unfortunately I have to sacrifice one of the images because for some reason it won’t let me turn off top posts, and since this is getting a lot of traction, it’s stuck there…… I needed something to spoiler it on my top posts cause many of my peers haven’t yet been able to play/watch The Teal Mask for whatever reason!

After all, I love Katara very much, and if she is given due respect in the new film, if her caring side is shown (according to rumors, will be a little Bumi in the new film, and I want to see Katara as a caring mother!) and at the same time they will show scenes of fights with her, show her skills as a waterbender, as a warrior, show her as a loyal friend, I, as Katara stan, will be very happy!
Even if the mistakes are corrected in the film, and there is a caring, loving kataang in it, I will only be happy, even though I am a zutara fan. Because I love Katara, and if it is canonically confirmed that she is happily married, I will be happy for her. My heart will finally find peace.
the problem with this is that the legend of korra exists.
and it tells us enough of what happened to katara and her family to know that there was no way her marriage could be truly happy. not when two of katara's children have no connection to her culture. not when her oldest son and daughter still display deep-seated resentment towards their father for his favouritism, which their mother somehow allowed to happen. not when katara doesn't have a statue, is known as a healer instead of the fighter she wanted to be, and all-in-all appears to be a lobotomized version of the character we knew in atla.
no truly happy marriage results in such a drastic change of personality, or in that kind of troubled family dynamic. i'm sure the atla movie will try to tell us that katara and aang are happy together, but everything else post-atla shows us the opposite: that it's a deeply flawed relationship with a lot of problems that were clearly never solved. you cannot retcon something like that, and given that bry.ke don't even seem to recognize the problems with their depictions of katara and the kat.aang family in lok, i doubt they'll know what to fix, even if they could.
no matter how many cool scenes we get of katara fighting or being badass, none of that is going to erase where she ultimately ends up. that's the problem with any new atla material involving katara. unless you ignore LOK as canon, the end-point is fixed, and so her life cannot be turned into anything but a tragedy.

one of my many guilty pleasures is watching toxic dating shows and it has become standard that all the women have had „work done“ like at least botox, lip fillers and usually breast implants, sometimes a bbl, many have an onlyfans and all of them are aspiring influencers; anyways, weirdly the thing that puts me off the most is the makeup. sometimes they will interview the women in the morning before they got ready and did their hair and makeup and they always look so much better, good even despite the obvious injections and stuff. especially when the lashes are off. they look so silly and the women always, without fail look better without any makeup. what are we doing to our queens…

I'm editing a video and.... I never noticed this but?? the table cloth is only at one end of the table??? so they either only put it on that end and purposefully sat Norton on the other side to discriminate against him&manipulate him, or, they set it like this bc it'd just be him&Alice at breakfast and they intended to have them sit across from each other but nortons anti social weird ass grabbed his shit and went to the opposite end so he didn't have to sit by her...

You ever think about how extremely traumatic the first two arcs of the Archie reboot would've been for all the characters?
They're just living their normal lives, when one day Sonic starts babbling about a completely different history where most of them were in extremely dire straits, and starts using Nicole to overwrite their extant memories with those of the previous universe.
Like, imagine being Sally in that situation. You come home from a dangerous but routine mission to find all your friends acting like you've just come back from the dead. They hand you your computer and suddenly your mind is filled with memories of a much different world to this one, a much darker and more painful one, filled with death and constant betrayal. Your last memories are now filled with weeks of watching your mechanised, vivisected body mindlessly serve your nemesis, and try to kill your friends and family. You were (probably) awake when Eggman carved you up with a blowtorch, while monologuing creepily about how smart you are, right before he crammed a cannon in where your brain should be. You almost died because Eggman designed your new form so badly that you ran out of power on your first mission as his pawn, only to be 'saved' by someone who loved you, and now doesn't exist.
But it's not just that. That would be bad enough. You also remember that this other version of you had a living mother. A mother who loved her and supported her and tried to be there for her. Yours has been dead since you were a child. You're still a child, but you've never felt less like one than you do right now. You had a brother too. He had a wife and a daughter, you had a niece and and a sister-in-law. They're gone. In fact, they're not just gone. They never existed. You have memories of people that never existed. All your friends apparently do. These other versions of them all had families. Here, they're all orphans, except for Rotor, who now remembers a world where his father wasn't an abusive bastard that serves Eggman out of some warped sense of social darwinism, something he can never have in this one.
On the other hand, your father, whom you know as a kind, generous, and reasonable man, was in this other world a controlling, emotionally abusive asshole, a major factor in a massive mental breakdown you endured and struggled with for months on end.
And then shortly afterwards, these memories begin to fade. Maybe you're okay with forgetting Mecha Sally. Maybe you're okay with forgetting that Nigel was ever Maximilian. But now you're also forgetting Alicia and Elias and Megan and Alexis, people who only existed in your memory. You won't remember how many people Eggman killed with the Super Genesis Wave. There will never be justice for them, and in a few short days, you won't even remember their names.

I'm not upset discussions of Sally Ride these days don't leave out the fact that she was a lesbian and therefore the first known queer person in space (albeit a fact only known after her death), but I hate that the fact that what is left out is that she, while part of the Roger's Commission after Challenger exploded, was the whistleblower who made sure the information for the defects of the O-rings made its way to Richard Feynman, who then famously, publicly, and on camera demonstrated how icy coldness (such as the cold and icy weather the morning before Challenger launched) could critically deform the O-rings used and keep them from forming a seal. This was also only revealed after she died. (x)
Whenever Sally Ride comes up these days among my (overwhelmingly queer) friends, we all acknowledge that she was a lesbian and celebrate what a role model she was not just for girls but for queer kids (and adults) too, but everyone is always surprised when I bring up the whistleblowing thing, which I think is damn shame and a disservice to her legacy.
