semi-meta; how far cry ; new dawn did sharky a dirty or: charlemagne victor boshaw iv deserved better.

with my latest sharky meta still in the works , i got something else i gotta get off my chest. i don’t like fc;nd. there, i said it. i am not going to go into all the details regarding why i  don’t like it and will, most likely, never finish it, because that is, uh, a whole different post, so i’m going to focus mainly one: that’s right. sharky. sharky boshaw was, in far cry 5 , a great character. the longer you had him tag along, the more locations you dragged him to, the more you learned about him. about his past, his view on the world, and , because the man doesn’t know how to shut up , about his sexual interests and preferences. sharky’s a pretty neat dude. while his view on global warming might be a bit worrying , and his level of education ain’t the highest, he has a good heart. he means well, and he’s moved on from a shitty past to live the best present he’s able to. he’s an outcast, always has been. he’s lonely. alone. but he’s brave, and he’s optimistic. sharky is a well - rounded character , and fc;nw ruins that. i am not going to argue; fc5 features a lot of ‘stereotypical’ characters - a given. and yet, the game manages to keep a balance; none of the companions is a mere comic relief or parody. sharky follows the white-trailer-trash blueprint; from his glasses stacked on top of his baseball cap to his tacky gold chain to his even tackier 2001 flame tattoo and his love for pot; sharky is the whole package. And yet, fc5 strays from the path of portraying him as a carricature and a persiflage - despite the piss bottle collection. Despite his textbook redneck behaviour. sharky is a 3 dimensional character; a joke about farting here, an innuendo there, but it’s never TOO MUCH. for me, fc;nd changed that --- and took it too far. it’s like watchig family guy; with jokes drawn out over such an exceedingly long period of time, they stop being funny and just become awkward. peter griffin falling and holding his ankle for 40 seconds straight while wincing? that’s fc;nd. the joke ended when fc5 did, but ubisoft didn’t think so. fc5 features a lovely dialogue between sharky and jess, where he asks her if she “had a crush on fox robin hood, too.” , which can be interpreted in two ways: sharky did have a crush on fox robin hood and wants to know if she did as well, or , if jess had a crush on fox robin hood as well as other versions of the character. it was subtle, and it was good: the the implication of sharky being a furry was both hilarious and terribly probable.  fc;nd ruined it. instead of focusing on the twins and giving the player some proper backstory on those two ( the main antagonists! ) something that was to be found all over the place and mentioned every 5 minutes was: sharky and his fursuit. there are several notes to be found regarding it, and sharky himself brings it up. not only that, it also pushes it further into the ‘lmao sharky is sooo weird he actually mentioned jiffing what a freak’ territory. remember his casually mentioned piss bottle collection from fc5? you can bet he’s gonna bring that up in every second sentence. oh, and gimps on a pole. that comes up at least twice. and sharky wanting to get himself some of that sweet tiddie milk. it’s too much. while in fc5, those things were dropped occasionally, they make up most of the content one gets from sharky in the new game. sure, there are some deeper and more personal things he drops, ( and you bet i am working on a meta regarding those things ) but they make up a rather small percentage of the shit the developers have scripted to come out of our hobo’s mouth. it does no longer feel genuine - it feels scripted, like the writers merely took whatever trashy jokes sold best in the previous game and set the intensity to 120%.  there are other things about it that bother me - he doesn’t really seem to have any opinion on the highwaymen. sure, they are there, they are a nuisance, but that’s about it. his main concern seems to be him not getting his gimp. he had a lot to say about eden’s gate , the seeds, and peggies in general. and while he wasn’t a gun for hire and i did in no way expect a running commentary from him, i feel a bit . . .cheated? it seems empty. forced. hell, he still talks about peggies more than he does about the highwaymen.  last but not least - y’all thought i wouldn’t bring it up, eh? - his appearance. the fact that it took a wave of complaints for ubisoft to lap on his trademark tattoo when they rolled out a patch/update says it all. his look in general rubs me the wrong way - while a lot of thought seems to have gone into the original character design and the concept art of fc5, it seems incredibly lazy in the sequel. sharky has a distinct look, and you can almost smells the clouds of lynx africa through the screen; and while his jumper is somewhat muddy, he cares about his appearance. his van dyke beard is always neatly shaved and trimmed, and he accessorizes: shades on the hat, gold chain around his neck, bracelets on his wrists and rings on his fingers.  tl;dr : fc;nd turned a facetted and multi-dimesional character into a duck-dynasty beard-wearing, piss collecting, jiffing caricature of grizzly adams and i absolutely hate it.

&& headcanon / meta  /  ooc observation ;; sharky often gets labeled as ‘stupid’ or ‘dumb’ , which simply is not the case ; he’s merely uneducated , having dropped out of highschool at a rather young age. there’s a big difference between a low iq and lack of education. sharky isn’t a genuis , that’s for sure ; but judging by the rest of the drubmans behaviour towards hurk jr. as well as the fact that sharky’s dad happily gambled away the right to name his son to a dude willing to get a set of t.its as a dare - i’m willing to dare saying that there was probably nobody in his family that put any thoughts of efforts into supporting him or empathizing on how important education is. i am pretty certain that the only thing that ever came from his parents in regards to his future was him taking over the trailer park - if anything. before they effed off to boca or wherever.  as much as sharky plays it down, i reckon he does take it to heart when people label him as dumb  - as evident when telling the dep that he’s grateful they took him along as ‘most other wouldn’t have ‘cause they think him to be dumb’ , but insisting that that’s not the case ; he’s merely lacking proper education. cases over cases show that children from less privileged and troublesome backgrounds are , with the right kind of support and encouragement ,  capable of achieving at least just as much as any other kid. i highly doubt sharky got any support in his life whatsoever , and , being “ white trailer trash “ with a tacky tattoo and gold chain around his neck , immediately gets labelled a moron. and yet  he makes his own smoke grenades, explosives, incendiary rounds. he wired a 110 decibel sound system and added some sweet ass pyrotechnics worthy of a rammstein concert to it. ( okay , so it eventually blew a fuse and the pedals caught fire , but he did set it up nevertheless! ) he knows that , if a wolf was to eat you , it would start with your a.sshole , and some really weird dolphin facts . it’s safe to say that , with his lack of formal education , pretty much everything he does or knows is self - taught , and based on his interests ; which are , in his case , mostly related to his pyromania , but could as well be in the field of astronomy or agriculture if one of the latter had been his passion instead .  sharky isn’t dumb , or stupid , and does get hurt over people constantly assuming that he is.  rightfully so.

Far Cry 5/FCND Superhero AU Pt. 2

Can’t say when I’ll actually start writing for this if at all. If you are interested please let me know! Anyway, below the cut: Thomas Rush, Sharky, and my FC OC’s.

[Part 1 Here - Seed Family]

Name: Mai Alias: Athenia Species: Meta human Abilities: Agility, superhuman strength, superhuman durability, unarmed combat, swordsmanship, healing factor, retractable claws

Mai has been on her own for as long as she could remember, not that she remembers much. Suffering from amnesia at a young age, and jumping from foster home, after foster home, Mai set out on her own after incidentally crippling a classmate during an after-school bout. At sixteen she was taken in by philanthropist John Seed, making her a part of his superhero task force initiative. Given the code name Athenia, Mai became a trademark figure. It did not last long, however. By eighteen she left the group leaving little to no trace behind and began to participate as a “small-time fighter” in illegal meta human arenas. She worked her way up to work as a bodyguard for one of the States lead traffickers, Ramona King, also known as The Raven. After a chance meeting with one of Raven’s newest “merchandise”, Mai devises a plan to get herself and this particular child out of the state. As fate would have it, the well-meaning police officer turned vigilante, Thomas Rush, inadvertently disrupts her means of escape, causing the trio to go on the run. With Raven’s forces after them, and the perplexing villain, The Father taking a keen interest in the child, Mai is led down a road that unexpectedly leads her on the path to finding out who her birth parents are.

Thomas Rush grew up reading about Superheros and wanted nothing more than to be one himself. The closest approximation he could achieve was joining the military straight out of high school. After two tours, he returned to the states, marrying his high school sweetheart, eventually having a daughter named Mila. Life was good for a time for the former soldier. With his prior service in the military, he felt right at home, cruising through the ranks up to sergeant. To celebrate his new promotion, the Rush family took an outing to the local mall, celebrating not only his new position but also Mila’s birthday. Tragedy struck quick and swiftly, however. With meta human trafficking on the rise, children became the ultimate target and the criminal underworld’s newest currency. Mila was snatched right under her parent’s noses while at the mall, sending Thomas’ life spiraling out of control. After three months of searching, all of Thomas’ leads ended up cold, leaving the father grieving and putting immense stress on his marriage. His wife eventually left, unable to deal with the loss of their daughter. Thomas Rush, however, could not give up so easily. Using his resources at the police precinct, he uses each waking moment searching for any lead that may lead him to find his daughter. Eventually, he adopts his own vigilante moniker, allowing him access to places that would have been inaccessible by wearing his badge. His investigation leads him down a rabbit hole, leading him to the heart of the meta human trafficking ring, meanwhile leading him to team up with the enigmatic and extremely powerful meta human Mai.

Name: Vittoria Arya-Giordano Alias: Scarlett Banshee Species: Meta human Abilities: Sound immunity, multilingualism, boxing, sound manipulation, sonic scream, charisma, durability.

The daughter of Italian immigrants, Vittoria Arya-Giordano has had only one dream: becoming a superstar. Discovering a love for music and singing at a young age, her parents facilitated her passion by hiring instructors and saving up every penny to send her to the most renowned schools of performance arts. During her senior year for her final recital, Vittoria’s lament meta human abilities came to manifest. Vittoria leveled the theater in which hundreds had come to watch her performance, killing everyone, her parents included. Vittoria survived miraculously, the mass body count attributed to a structural error. Vittoria spent the next ten years honing her abilities, though her dreams of performing were now dead. Her talent, however, did not go unseen. Vittoria was recruited by entrepreneur and philanthropist John Seed as part of his “marketable” superhero division, the United State's answer to National Security against the threats of international meta humans. Vittoria served dutifully, becoming a high profile figure, achieving the fame she had always dreamed of. Though, as always with fame, there was a darker side to it she could not have anticipated.

Name: Nayeli Lamb Alias: The Judge Species: Human Abilities: Archery, acrobatics, martial arts, tracking, weaponry, swordsmanship, gadgetry, hand-to-hand-combat, firearms

Nayeli and her older brother Takoda were born to Ciaran and Sokanon Lamb. Her father hailed from a prestigious family while her mother came from an impoverished background, their union causing unparalleled drama. As Nayeli grew older, she became aware of her father’s shady business practices following the death of her mother, the result of a business deal with the citie’s many mob leaders gone wrong. Idolizing the rise in meta human news, Nayeli Lamb and her brother took up their own mantles, taking on the persona of The Judge and SabreWulf. The teens took down many a villain and mob boss, particularly after Takoda began to manifest meta human powers himself. They continued their work well into their twenties until Nayeli was kidnapped, abused and tortured by the notorious villains, The Father and The Mindbender. By pure luck, she had struck a romantic bond with The Father’s henchman-brother, known simply as The Wolf of Sparta who helped her escape. Nayeli hung up her mantle after discovering she was pregnant with The Wolf’s child. The child however was stolen from her, a devastating loss the Lamb never really got over. Nayeli ended up having a second child with The Wolf years later after encountering one another again. Nayeli kept the children a secret from the Wolf till this very day. The Lamb eventually established herself as a successful psychologist and living a semi-normal life with her son. She grew estranged from her brother who continued to carry on with his alter-ego, feeling this was his true self. After his death at the hands of The Mindbender, she debated taking up her mantle as The Judge once more. It wasn’t until the disappearance of her son that she donned her cape and mask once more in an effort to find him.

Name: Charlemagne Victor Boshaw IV Alias: Sharky, Warden Awesome Species: Metahuman Abilities: Pyrokinesis, firearms, no filter

Charlemagne Boshaw did not have a happy childhood, but from his outward behavior, one may never know or find out. Birthed in a gas station bathroom and left in the toilet, Sharky as he likes to be called, led quite the tumultuous childhood and adolescence. While many would define him as a serial arsonist, the Boshaw man would prefer the term "fire enthusiast". What many didn’t know was that these many fire incidents were the result of Sharky being a pyrokinesis. After burning down his family’s trailer park three times, Sharky was forced on the run. His path eventually led him to Nayeli Lamb, with whom he became close friends with. Together, they lead the charge in finding her missing son, Malik.

Name: Ramona King

Species: Meta human

Alias: Raven

Abilities: Animal control, animal driven abilities, enhanced speed, agility, enhanced vision, combat skill, animal telepathy

Born on the east coast and raised by a single father, Ramona King was brought up with strict discipline and a need to succeed no matter the cost. Her father groomed her to be the perfect candidate for the Boston police force. By the time of her induction into the police academy however, her dormant meta-genes began to surface. Her abilities gave her an edge over her other officers. Her animal like abilities gave her a sixth sense rivaled only by those in the animal kingdom themselves. With her hardworking being relayed in flimsy promotions and measly raises, she began to sing a different tune. Leaving the police force, Ramona struck out as a small time cat-thief before eventually becoming a kingpin herself. Ramona ended up taking her underworld business out west, using a nightclub as a front to hide her extracurricular activities: money laundering, drug production, and more importantly, meta human trafficking.

Name: Malik Lamb

Species: Metahuman

Alias: N/A, referred to as The Asset

Abilities: chlorokinesis, toxic immunity, bio-fission, metamorphosis, accelerated healing, ability to heal others

Malik may only be six years old but he has had a whirlwind of a life so far. The second born child, created out of the union between The Judge and The Soldier, Malik knows nothing about his family’s complicated history, only that he was born with a target on his back. Since the day was born, he exhibited meta human capabilities though his family did their best to keep it a secret. After his Uncle Takoda’s death revealed that the Lamb family is a carrier of the meta-human gene, the family was thrust into the spotlight by news media outlets and criminal organizations. Despite being put under twenty-four hour surveillance by his grandfather, that did not stop those closest to the Lamb family to seize the boy for themselves in return for a quick buck. As the newest addition to Ramon King’s collection and hundreds of miles away from home, Malik saw no happy ending in sight, at least until a fateful meeting with another meta human and a vigilante police officer lead him on an unexpected journey.

Name: Dayana King

Species: Human (Cyborg)

Alias: Dove

Abilities: Flight, Electronics expert, speed, superhuman strength, cybernetic implants/enhancements, endurance, technopathy, invulnerability, cloaking abilities

As a fellow member of philanthropist John Seed’s superhero initiative, Dove is one of the most respected public faces of the meta human community. After a tragic accident left her father dead and herself in a near-death state, Dove underwent extensive life-saving surgeries with cybernetic enhancements at the request of her mother. Dove was, shortly after being discharged, inducted into the superhero initiative. While her co-hort Vittoria appeals to the more lavish side of the superhero community, Dove is seen as the public face of selflessness and social justice, though behind the scenes, that could not be more further from the truth. When not in front of the news camera, the cybernetic hero acts as a hired thug to Mr. Seed, taking out those who would oppose the use of meta humans overseas. Dove, having become disillusioned with her employer Mr. Seed and the antics of her criminal mother, Ramona King, Dove has debated hanging up her mantle once and for all. A chance meeting with an old friend though leads her to question whether she is doing more harm than good.

The Pilgrimage of Eden’s Gate

After I liberated the Henbane River, I decided to find Faith’s Pilgrimage and “walk the path” for myself. It’s quite a bit longer than I thought, and it crosses almost the entire region. It is a narrow path, distinguished from other game trails and hiking paths by the white petals on the ground, and you’ll find blood and bodies along its length. It takes nearly a day and a half in-game to follow the entire thing on foot while sprinting, but I took the extra time and walked it without followers to let the scenery sink in and give me time to reflect. If you follow it, don’t forget to look up from time to time. It has some of the best views in the region. 

Some meta (with pictures!) is below the cut for anyone who hasn’t yet walked the path.

The Pilgrimage begins here, at a small campsite presumably made by Eden’s Gate. 

It’s just below Joseph’s Word, the statue on the mountain called Angel’s Peak. From the fast-travel arrival point of Joseph’s Word, turn around and almost a short distance behind you, you should see a tall crucifix. A footpath runs underneath it, and following that will lead you to the pair of cabins that makes up the camp. One of the cabins is pristine and well cared-for, with garlands and bouquets of Bliss flowers, clean mattresses, sturdy furniture, and some crisp Books of Joseph lying around for perusal. The other cabin, however, is a pigsty. Garbage is lying around, blood splatters line the walls, instead of beds you have sleeping bags and blankets strewn on the floor and on the bed frames, and a couple bedpans are scattered around.

I assume the clean cabin is for people who choose to undertake the Pilgrimage, and the other is for those who go unwillingly. Or, the messy one could be for all pilgrims while the other is for those who guide them along the path. Another possibility is that the messy one is for Angels and the other is for people who still retain their minds. But what complicates these assumptions is the letter found in the messy cabin.

This certainly seems to be addressed to a woman who willingly traveled the Pilgrimage. I know Joseph’s words here would make me want to walk it for myself, provided I had my good sneakers with me.

The stones laid upon the path Joseph mentions are at checkpoints along the Pilgrimage, thirteen in all, like this one.

Each one has a stone laid in the ground engraved with the emblem of the Project at Eden’s Gate and a short description of a significant event in the Project’s lifespan. It begins right outside the cabins with this message.

To start the Pilgrimage, go downhill from this first marker. Once you recognize the path with the white petals, it’ll be easily identifiable for the rest of your journey. Just bring a lot of ammo, as you’ll be ambushed rather often by the local wildlife (I encountered mostly cougars and bison with the occasional turkey) and for the love of all that’s holy, don’t bring Sharky Boshaw. I love him, but I died in too many wildfires while initially trying to follow this path. I didn’t even make it to the fifth checkpoint before I sent him home.

The second checkpoint’s message about Joseph “cleansing” himself could either refer to self-flagellation (which would certainly explain at least some of the scars on his torso, some of which look fairly recent, others look very deep and painful), the tattooing/scarification of at least one of the seven deadly sins on those who join the Project, or a much tamer self-baptism. It’s uncertain, but I’d guess it’s the first one.

As you follow the Pilgrimage, you’ll find that nearly every checkpoint is at or near a fork in the path, where one fork has the white petals and the other does not. More often than not, the plain fork leads to one of the sixteen Shrines dotted across the Henbane River region, but at the third intersection, found next to a Bliss field in an open plain, taking the plain path to the right of the stone marker will lead you to an abandoned chapel. In this chapel, you’ll see a statue of a crucified Christ propped up in a shadowy corner in the back with a cardboard box over its head. Under the box is a key to a safe nearby, but it isn’t the key that interests me. The position of the box AND the statue itself seems to suggest that someone felt like they didn’t want Him watching them, whether that’s because they were doing something they didn’t want seen or they just felt ashamed. Because of the note I found in the room with the safe, I strongly believe it’s the latter.

Whether this Faith is the current one - Rachel Jessop - or one of her predecessors, I can’t say, but based on how the current Faith reacts to the burning of her personal Book of Joseph (”You have no idea what he’ll do to me!”) and what she desperately cries in the final stage of her boss fight (”You will never know what I know!” and “It wasn’t my fault! None of this was my fault!”) this note wouldn’t be out of character for her.

Once you return to the path, you’ll encounter another checkpoint with another marker before you continue on.

The one after this is the one that really interests me, firstly because it officially lists Faith as Joseph’s blood family along with Jacob and John, which implies that she or he (whoever oversaw the creation of the Pilgrimage) or both of them consider Faith a blood relative.

This stone also marks a fork in the path, and stepping away from the Pilgrimage leads to another Shrine - but this one is located in the center of an amphitheater with a well-tended garden of Bliss flowers around it. 

It looks far more ceremonial than any of the other Shrines, and this leads me to believe that perhaps Faith and/or Joseph hold sermons for the faithful there. The fact that this is at the location of the family stone doesn’t seem like a coincidence. Because pilgrims are meant to reflect on each checkpoint, it seems fitting for Joseph, Faith, or one of her Priestesses to officially welcome pilgrims into the Eden’s Gate family here with a ceremony or sermon in this amphitheater.

Some time after passing this checkpoint, you’ll cross one of the many bridges you find on this trail, but this one has a small surprise at the end. On top of a Bliss crate, you find a med kit, a stick (for hitting people with) and a letter from the Resistance.

If the amphitheater from the fifth marker is really a place to welcome newcomers into the family, this note could be considered either too little, too late, OR placed in just the right spot to plant doubt in the heart of the pilgrim who reads it.

Now, the next few stones continue with the history of the Project. The sixth marker interests me because of how it describes why Joseph uprooted the Project from its original home in Georgia (so implied in the Book of Joseph). This suggests that someone inside the cult was either a plant by law enforcement or they found a conscience and reported the things they’d seen.

The seventh and eighth stones refer to Hope County as simply “Hope,” which, like “Faith,” likely stands more as a symbol than a place or person. Faith is not only a woman, she’s an icon for the cult. In the same vein, “Hope” is the the New Garden - not just a place to grow their Bliss, their family, and their religion, but also the new Garden of Eden. 

The ninth stone also piques my interest because of how it mentions “disciples.” These could be some of (or all of) the cult VIPs we see and kill. They all have the same Bliss haze around their heads as Angels do, and all the ones I’ve seen have the same white eyes. This could be why killing them grants Resistance Points - they were some of Joseph’s first followers, the first and most effective Angels, and their loss hurts the cult more than just an average Peggie. Additionally, the Bliss was said to be “offered” to them. While this very well could be a nice way of saying “we forced it down their throats,” it could also have been taken willingly as a sacrament, as the title implies.

We all know what the tenth and eleventh stones are referring to.

The twelfth stone is very specific in saying that fire will cleanse the earth. In the Bliss vision where Joseph speaks to you personally, you see fire and a nuclear mushroom cloud, implying he feels certain that atomic bombs will be the end of the world. 

And finally, the thirteenth stone. The “Gates” mentioned are the Herald’s bunkers.

The end of the Pilgrimage is nearby, and you’ll find yourself back at Joseph’s Word. Staying to the right as you climb the steps seems to be the intended path for pilgrims, and I assume cultists are typically nearby to lead pilgrims up into the statue and out onto the book. And just like the deputy did in their first Bliss vision, it looks like some pilgrims are expected to take a leap of faith.

This is what they’re faced with when they look down.

It’s far less pretty from the ground.

sharky is a lot lonelier than he lets people in on - and that means something , considering he is someone that is usually brutally honest about pretty much every thing that is going on in his head , and whose second favourite thing in the world - right after FIRE , mind - is over sharing . one of the things he does overshare , while at the grandview hotel , is how he wasn’t wanted ; he mentions how he was conceived at a hotel , and that his dad was wearing a condom and his mum was on the pill , so he’s kind of a miracle ; except they didn’t call him that, but he thinks it sounds nicer than ‘unwanted’ . on another ocassion , he tells rook that he is pretty lonely , and asks them if they can still be friends after all this . heck , in the introduction video for the specialists that ubisoft released , he even gets advertised as ‘ fights because he has no friends ‘ . the whole thing pretty much lines up with the general idea of him being ostracised - and his parents simply not giving a shit . here’s the deal ; many clinical studies have found that fire setting rarely occurs by itself but usually occurs with other socially unacceptable behavior. the motives that have recently earned the most attention are pleasure , a cry for help , retaliation against adults , and desire to reunite the family . it seems like it is a combination of pyromania and bad behavior that initiates fire setting . some children and teens may set fires often to release tension , but then there are others that may only seek to set fires during times of great stress . some of the symptoms of pyromania are depression , conflicts in relationships , and poor ability to cope with stress and anxiety . his fascination with fire as well as his obvious role as the unwanted child [ which also explains his father’s willingness to simply gamble away the right to name him ] seems to have been the flamable cocktail that lead to his full blown pyromania ; and fire became a solution to every one of his problems ; it got him the attention he longed for , it worked as a vent for all the stress he was under , and eventually seemed to even act as a form of comfort .

SHARKY META ! sharky often gets labeled as ‘stupid’ or ‘dumb’ , which simply is not the case ; he’s merely uneducated , having dropped out of highschool at a rather young age. there’s a big difference between a low iq and lack of education. sharky isn’t a genuis , that’s for sure ; but judging by the rest of the drubmans behaviour towards hurk jr. as well as the fact that sharky’s dad happily gambled away the right to name his son to a dude willing to get a set of t.its as a dare - i’m willing to dare saying that there was probably nobody in his family that put any thoughts of efforts into supporting him or empathizing on how important education is. i am pretty certain that the only thing that ever came from his parents in regards to his future was him taking over the trailer park - if anything. before they effed off to boca or wherever. as much as sharky plays it down, i reckon he does take it to heart when people label him as dumb  - as evident when telling the dep that he’s grateful they took him along as ‘most other wouldn’t have ‘cause they think him to be dumb’ , but insisting that that’s not the case ; he’s merely lacking proper education. cases over cases show that children from less privileged and troublesome backgrounds are , with the right kind of support and encouragement ,  capable of achieving at least just as much as any other kid. i highly doubt sharky got any support in his life whatsoever , and , being “ white trailer trash “ with a tacky tattoo and gold chain around his neck , immediately gets labelled a moron. and yet he makes his own smoke grenades, explosives, incendiary rounds. he wired a 110 decibel sound system and added some sweet ass pyrotechnics worthy of a rammstein concert to it. ( okay , so it eventually blew a fuse and the pedals caught fire , but he did set it up nevertheless! ) he knows that , if a wolf was to eat you , it would start with your a.sshole , and some really weird dolphin facts . it’s safe to say that , with his lack of formal education , pretty much everything he does or knows is self - taught , and based on his interests ; which are , in his case , mostly related to his pyromania , but could as well be in the field of astronomy or agriculture if one of the latter had been his passion instead . sharky isn’t dumb , or stupid , and does get hurt over people constantly assuming that he is. rightfully so.

on character development 1 / ? ;;

i am making these posts short [ ahaha ] , cause nobody wants to read through one of my essays , but here we go ; in fc;nd there is an interaction between the npc’s , sharky and bean in particular , in which bean asks sharky what an orgasm is. taking into consideration that it’s sharky himself he’s talking to, one would expect nothing less than the typal sharky act ; some laughter , and a speech that definitely involves the terms ‘jizz’ and ‘nutting’ in some form, as well as at least 2 examples of him him fingerblasting somebody somewhere. what we get instead is just so great? sharky doesn’t laugh. he doesn’t make fun of bean. instead, he tells him that he’s prepared himself to give this talk to blade one day , and proceeds to explain an orgasm in an almost scientific and not in the slightest patronizing or belittling  manner. when bean thanks him and tells him he has more questions , sharky tells him he’s happy to help and that they should get together and talk about it over a few shots of jet fuel , but that right now is a bad time because he has to work. i’m not going to get into further character development in this post, but things to take away from this interaction: - remember my POST WHERE I STATED THAT SHARKY IS NOT UNINTELLIGENT, JUST UNEDUCATED , and merely educates himself on topics hecares about and that interest him ? there. there you go . - he knows he has responsibilities and prioritizes them over getting shitfaced and talking about sex . [ and it’s still sharky . the man loves talking about sex . ] - the respectful way he handles the situation , instead of making fun of bean . charlemagne victor boshaw iv is a wonderful example of character development and growth and nothing anybody can say or do will change that.

SHARKY META! have you ever noticed how all the guns for hire keep going on about hunting / killing / shooting peggies ? and then there’s sharky , who chimes in on it but in one conversation - in which he asks the deputy if they can still be friends when all of this is over - eventually uses a very different wording ; he straight out asks if the deputy is going to arrest him for all the MURDERS they’ve seen him commit . and that’s where it once again hits - how easy it is to kill those people by just filing them under ‘peggies ‘ . by saying you’re gonna get rid of some ‘peggies ‘ as if you were talking about getting rid of those moths in your closet that have been munching away on your favourite cashmere jumper . how easy it is to kill when you adopt an ‘us’ and ‘them’ mentality . when you dehumanize your enemies . and then sharky fu.cking boshaw comes along and casually reminds you that you are on a murder spree . would you like fries with that ?

something i have been unable to stop thinking about ever since i learned that sharky has survived the bombs is — uhhh … . while it depends entire on the type of bomb and the type of radioactive isotope released upon detonation , it’s safe to say that he stayed at least 2 weeks in the bunker — but taking into consideration carmina saying that she’s not seen the sun until she was six years old [ and ubisoft stating that she was raised in a bunker ] , i do reckon that it was a lot longer ; and at least several months. 

which , under normal circumstances , wouldn’t be too dramatic — they are stocked up on food and supplies , there’s nothing out there at this point , no food , and a barren landscape . but that’s not the point ; the point being the incredible amount of stress a situation such as this puts one under . and then there’s sharky , who deals with stress and releases tension by setting shit on fire . and he’s stuck down there . pacing and fidgeting , unable to sit still , unable to focus or sleep . unable to do anything . because he knows ; if he as much as lights a match , he can guarantee for absolutely nothing .

would it excite him ?ehhh . many things excite sharky boshaw , but catching the feels is not necessarily one of them ; it’s mostly related to his idea of being rejected anyway . it’s a nice feeling , the butterflies , the elated mood , but to him , it feels like something that is out of reach by default , and therefore , the warm, fuzzy feeling always comes with a pang of pain.
