i saw @kraigheaded do this and i felt like i should do this too. without further ado: the incredibly specific ways i perceive the scarlet/violet characters
arven: passing as someone who gets enough sleep but really doesn’t. tried so hard to be the “jock with a heart of gold” but he has scoliosis. does the “sparkle on its wednesday” pose and smile when he doesn’t know what to say. oh yeah and child of divorce lmao.
nemona: cool older cousin/volunteer camp counselor who gives the little kids piggyback rides in between activities. gives mc the m&ms from her trailmix. the only one in the friend group with money. she works at a pizza place and brings everybody garlic knots.
penny: runs an incorrect quotes blog for whatever the pkmn universe’s equivalent of supernatural is. calls arven a baka just to piss him off. pidge voltron kinnie. her parents are “trying to make it work for her sake”
jacq: anxious single dad. realized he was gay, broke it off with his wife, and now gets the kid for a week, triweekly. occasionally makes direct eye contact with a coworker at the grocery store and he takes off work the next day to recover. loves his job and is good at it. also, much like arven, doesnt sleep (though hes not as good at hiding it)
mc: very energetic and but a little threatening. has koraidon/miraidon and drives their friends around on them. has crashed through a few windows, crawled through a few vents, and kicked down a few doors. occasionally just says Vaguely Ominous, Weirdly Cheerfully Delivered Things. shit like “im so excited, i could kill a human man!” and everyone looks at them with fear in their eyes. except penny. penny thinks theyre hilarious.

JuliMona fans GET UP!!!!!!
Literally, we can't let the closest to canon couple lose to an entirely fan crafted thing!!! I dont hate the other ship, but the two have literally never even interacted in the series. Compared to JuliMona who have the game, the music video and other stuff! COME ON SHEEPLE!

Could you do headcanons for the ScVi protagonists pls? Always find it interesting to see how different people headcanon the pokemon game protags.
Yeah ofc! :D I love seeing other people's takes on protags as well ^^ Here are mine!
JULIANA
-15 Y.O, aro-ace, cis female (she/her)
-Comes from a wealthy, upper-class family
-Florian's cousin
-Personality wise, she's very entergetic and friendly. In addition to being sporty, she's also very smart and gets pretty good grades on most subjects! However, she's a bit reckless and cocky (her motto is "Act first and maybe think later!") She tends to be a bit of a sore loser and a braggart.
-Gets along extremely well with Nemona! They are besties <3
-Focuses on the Gym Challenge storyline/path
-Hobbies include history, battling, and badminton.
-Absolutely ADORES milkshakes, they are her favorite food of all time
-Final team is Skeledirge (starter), Palofin, Clodsire, Annihilape, Arboliva, and Koraidon
Florian
-13 Y.O, gay, demiboy (he/they)
-Comes from a wealthy, upper-class family
-Juliana's cousin
-EXTREMELY shy and introverted. Rarely opens up to anyone (Juliana's the person he's closest to). They're pretty jumpy and anxious as well, but they have a very kind, thoughtful spirit and care deeply for those around them. He's very justice oriented.
-They are semi-nonverbal, preferring to sign or just not talk unless they have something important to say.
-Has thought of going to protests once or twice, but he hasn't worked up the courage to do so yet (he probably will one day though ;3c)
-Focuses more on the Starfall Street storyline
-Has a crush on Ortega <3
-Hibbies/interests include doing jigsaw puzzles, reading, and the political system (especially the judicial branch)
-Was poked fun at because of his name, especially in his younger years (Juliana stood up for him and made the teasing stop later on)
-Final team is Quaxly, Nymble, Tarountula, Ceruledge, Baxcalibur, and Miraidon.

short indigo disk thoughts under the cut (just kidding this ended up being long) (i am a little frustrated with the story bits)
while i'm having a lot of fun with the post-story stuff and the clubroom and i thought resolving kieran's issues in areo zero rather than at the school through battling was a good way to do it i felt kinda... idk... reminded? of what i felt was the weakest aspect of scvi's main story/the way home, which is that important characters cannot do things that can't be easily walked back or forgiven, even if it's honestly really small or petty in the grand scheme of things. and important characters ESPECIALLY cannot be implicated in someone else's wrongdoings. team star's story is so weak because to give the bullying plotline any sense of weight they'd have to implicate their shiny new characters at the school that they want the audience to care about, and that's no good. so instead all the bullying is a vague formless nothingness and none of the staff we actually know have any stake in it because they weren't there and even the biting back against it didn't even really happen. it's vapid. the consequences of sada and turo's obsession is pretty much the only thing this doesn't apply to-- because they're dead! even the AI has vanished! death resolves!
in the dlc it kind of felt like part two of this with the entire School Drama thing. kieran says some mean things and is pushy and rude blah blah blah ok cool. he's in a bad place mentally and is punishing himself and others because of it. wow that's so sucks. the resolution of this being that we fight our way to beating him down AGAIN, not helping at all, before finally figuring things out in area zero is even a good resolution to that i think!! i'm not against any of this!! it feels very gx the way our only solution to getting him to enjoy battling again is to make him hate it more by being too op as the protagonist (lol) and then go on a dangerous adventure with him.
but all the jokes people are making about how oh everyone actually liked kieran all along and and oh he didn't even have any problems at the academy he was just like that is like... Yeah? it's the same issue with penny and team star's entire plotline? in that a problem that should be there... seemingly isn't?
drayton is presented as manipulative and a schemer but his grander goal isn't to actually make kieran go back to being a bottom of the food chain wannabe or something by having you shove his face into the dirt. because then your cool new elite four member would be mmmmmmmmeean.
if kieran's issue was just that he truly struggled to make friends and felt too reliant on his sister and not that he was actively ostracized by anyone at blueberry academy, making it so everyone could clearly see that his 180 was bad and being upset with it feels a bit like a slap in the face. it's not like they knew what caused it! like, really! you're saying the majority of non-carmine people wouldn't see that in-universe and start flocking to kieran, the guy who shot up to champion seemingly over night? if you're going to write it like that, you couldn't make it so everyone but carmine and drayton (who don't get along!) see it as a good development, that everyone at the academy wouldn't either ignore or excuse or not see his roughness with the other club members who aren't "getting stronger", and not see how clearly unwell it all is? you're saying everyone saw this shy kid rise up from some average rank to the champion and went, "no, that's not your place, that's bad"? come on!
if they didn't want to risk you not liking the members and faculty of blueberry academy by having one of its students be actively ostracized, why was this not a story about going against the majority's belief that this is "good" for kieran or anybody else in the league club? give me something. anything. these kinds of writing decisions are so frustrating-- it is an active denial of the slightest weight.

I love you Reshiram/Zekrom being on N's side both during the time he's in doubt yet the closest to reaching his goals and during the time he has to reevaluate his views and place in the world and being saddened to part ways with him in bw2 post-game I love you Unova Dragons symbolizing two sides of the same coin co-existing and giving the dynamic between N and the bw protagonist more weight I love you Lunala/Solgaleo being revealed to evolve from the Pokemon that was a close friend to Lillie during hard times in which they helped each other I love you Miraidon/Koraidon bonding with the scvi protagonist after fleeing Area Zero with the help of the Professor's sacrifice and Arven negatively associating it with his parent being neglectful only to later encourage it to stand up to its rival I love you Miraidon/Koraidon being the final step to stopping the program-bound Professor AI I love you Legendary Pokemon being emotionally involved in the narrative

Pokémon Violet: The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero - The Indigo Disk (Switch)
Area child builds elaborate 2-dragon Grimmsnarl rain team with defensive emphasis, fails to account for blue prancing water rat
Pokémon ScVi's second DLC sticks the landing brilliantly; the character and writing work emphasised through in-battle reactions, the superb cutscene direction and telling its story through its gameplay mechanics, all of this is once again in place and I'm hoping that indicates this sort of approach is here to stay. Kieran's arc across both DLCs hits way, way better than all previous attempts at rivals who falter in the face of the protagonist's power, and its strength is in how it's presented.
I was pleasantly surprised that there was a marked difficulty increase from DLC1, albeit almost entirely in the form of story characters relying desperately on Focus Sashes and Sturdy to not die in single hits. The shift to pure Double Battles on Blueberry Academy grounds is interesting, and aptly demonstrates the more considered and expressive teams enemies can have with the format and the tactics it provides, but, well, there's only so much they can do while still being reasonable. The BB Elite Four are fun characters, their fights are fun and their Trials are mostly neat (Drayton's is the best, Crispin's revolves around making a sandwich which just always kind of sucks).
The Terarium is a cool area and particularly comes closest to catching the pure vibes of the Wild Area of Sword & Shield, where you can zen out in the wilderness and emerge with hundreds of captured Pokémon and millions in raid loot, and Perrin's "catch 200 mons for a secret" challenge is legitimately tricky; even getting lucky with raid catches (Magmortar, Electrivire, Rhyperior, Kingdra and both Porygon evos, so no trading required) it still took some considered planning and rooting around for as many things to evolve as possible. It's probably the first time I really appreciated having ScVi's raids, though I still prefer SwSh's format.
As a complete package Pokémon Scarlet & Violet are, in spite of what their performance issues have wrought, perhaps the strongest the series has been in a while. I'll still have my aesthetic preferences (the art style for characters of Sword & Shield is broadly better, to my eye) and regional preferences (Paldea's cities are lacking in sauce), but on a game and even a lot of the presentation front, this is a shining exemplar. We can only hope Game Freak carry forward a lot of its ideas.

Random thought how 100% TPC can set up for future legends games:
It can be one line of dialog on scarlet and violet. One.
"A bunch of trainers have disappeared throughout various regions."
I mean I think it's clear that besides the player character in legends arceus and Inigo that more people got sent back in time than we think, it could just be at different points.
Ex: the hero is absolutely Alder and not his ancestor given he has modern(ish) pokeballs on him if you squint.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So for reasons maybe that could be further touched on Arceus sent not just you and Inigo to the past but a bunch of different skilled trainers, maybe like how your characters task is to fill Hisui's first pokedex these other trainers have different tasks to do and are sent back in time in different points and regions to do these tasks. Because he's got no one else to do them? Idk
Connection to Scarlet and Violet?
But with this SCVI take place in the present outside and during all these "missing trainer" incidents and POSSIBLY given the games obvious ties and themes to the past/future depending on the verison. Maybe this is connected to that in someway or at least the "big bad" consequence or something is related to Arceus' sudden time manipulation activity. But that's speculation.
How does this tie into future legends games?
PAL has big ties to two different regions beside Hisui obviously; Unova and Johto so its obvious these two regions are possible for these future hypothetical games to take place.
The plot?
Similar to PAL where your character (most likely a past protagonist) is one of the "missing trainers" with their own set objective related to the region possibly given by Arceus and the task ofc will be different than just "complete a pokedex" though of course that will be a part of the game. For Unova in particular I can see revolving around the ancient War with the twin kings and the dragons and FINALLY maybe we can learn more about the complete form of the dragon. BONUS: Emmett isn't in the present like most of the fandom thinks, he's in Unova, however, just deeper in the past even further in time than Inigo is in Hisui. 100% these legends games wouldn't have to all take place in the same time frame of PAL and can absolutely explore different parts of the timeline we rarely get to see and it's the perfect opportunity for game freak to use characters from past generations for us to see again in a similar style like how Inigo was and have them be in a similar situation like him and your player character in this hypothetical game and your character in PAL.
Will this happen?
Probably not but I fun to speculate and theorize, hopefully at least we'll get a reference to PAL somehow besides the hisuian pokemon that show up in the game. We'll just have to wait and see.

How does one know if they are? (OOC: OOC thing about Evelyn, she was born in Unova but moved to Paldea
Ooc post
[Okay I would feel better explaining this ooc lol.]
[So, Chosen's are only 1. The Protags and Rivals of the games, and 2. Majority are only the main/ box legendaries. There are a few non-mains; Like Rosa from BW2 is Keldeo's chosen. But the main main ones are always more priority.]
[Unless your oc takes the place of a game's protagonist, like for example your Oc is taking the place of Hilda/Hilburt, then they would be a chosen of Zekrom/Resheram. But if it's some oc that's just happens to be from unova and moves to paldea than I'm sorry but they're not a chosen. And like I said in the other post, I personally don't view The ScVi box legends as true legends like all the others just because they're just the past and future versions of cyclizard./nm]

I feel vindicated, on this the day of R.aphael’s birth, that the director of SCVI confirmed that R.aphael was the protagonist of SCII, the game regarded as the best SC ever made. So uh, yeah. Just going to leave that there.

I have to be honest. SCVI was probably the best part for me. I just like fighting games. Would have been nice if they showed another character, but oh well. It just got announced, so it’s cool.
Second best was probably the fact that they acknowledged the existence of Persona 5, NieR: Automata and Gravity Rush 2.
I should clarify. I don’t hate Horizon, but good gravy! They’re really pushing it. “Aloy is an icon. One of the greatest female protagonists of all time.” Let’s not go nuts. Frankly, you could probably make a case for 2B being more iconic. Maybe that’s just the people I hang out with, though.
Oh well. Supposedly, DMCV was supposed to be revealed at E3, then got delayed to PSX because of the voice actors strike, then delayed again after Sony decided to downsize PSX this year. So, E3 2018 at the latest, and if it’s announced earlier, then great!
