Inspired by the song Departure written for Screechers Reach, an animated piece Cartoon Saloon did for the StarWars shorts anthology Visions. (Cartoons Saloon is the same studio who crated Secret of Kells, Song of the Sea and WolfWalkers)

The song has been stuck in my head ever since I saw the short and it's hauntingly beautiful.

Visions S2 is knocking it out of the park again. I love the movies and LA shows, but Star Wars and animation have sooooo much to offer each other. We need more of it.

screecher’s reach really getting to me because it’s not a classic tragedy in the sense that our hero has a fatal flaw, and thus their fate is unavoidable. when that big scary sith mother came charging at daal, her base instinct was not to fight, but to run towards the literal/metaphorical light. this scared little kid. it didn’t have to be this way at all.

Hey so we can all assume that the Sith mother in Screechers Reach (Star Wars Visions S2E2) was probably wearing a mask, but does anyone else think that she looks kinda like a Gen’Dai in their humanoid armor (slim edition)??? Cause. If so. Then. That is probably the most terrifying Sith (or bounty hunter) to exist because their bloodlust is literally planets of devastation. Like I only know about Gen’Dai cause I like researching random species to put in the Jedi or Mandalorian societies to really drive home that they are melting-pot peoples, and I read about Durge and how their species has an attitude of absolute blaze uncaring before they end up bloodthirsty and I thought ‘wouldn’t it be cool to have a Mandalorian raised doctor Gen’Dai who’s trying to find the cure of their bloodlust because he was raised in a community that prides itself on caring for others’ and like I thought that was a cool idea so I went with it but now I can’t stop looking at the Sith mother’s overall shape and her mask and it looks like a stylized version of a Gen’Dai (and I mean a non-canon depiction because we all know that some other media will go off-canon if they do a different style like how jacked Anakin looked in the 2003 series and the tattoos that turned out not to be there in the movie and how Shaak Ti looked… like that… I’m not saying I hated it but I really hated it) and I’m wondering if you guys got any other ideas of what species she might have been.

Also now that I’m thinking about it, the styles was closer to the 2003 series but like… good… lol.

Just watched Screecher’s Reach with some friends and OMG it was amazing, I hope we get more of this story and characters in future seasons of Visions, it was very open ended and left me wanting more! Congrats Paul Young & Cartoon Saloon!!
