I have so many scrap 2.5” squares. Decided to make something with them and managed 25 scrappy hearts. Even my background is all scraps from other projects.

I’m gonna put some tiny hearts along the top and bottom, them make a border three squares wide and this should end up about 95”x100” or so; nice queen size.

Haven’t decided on backing yet. Buy? Or I have several backing fabrics in my stash, including a rainbow coloured one that could work.

#knitblr #knitting #plushies #bunny plush #ffvii #buster sword #origami #MMMMMMMM HE'S SO CUTE I LOVE HOW HE TURNED OUT #one of his ears is just stubbornly flopping over but i love it #it gives him personality :3 #the sword is a utility knife blade i found on the floor and used a band saw to cut the angle on it #i clamped two little scraps of walnut down around it with glue to hold it in place and used a knife to carve it into sword hilt shape #got green aventurine beads from michaels and squeezed them in a clamp until they popped in half #and then glued two halves on either side #and used 1mm black leather cord to wind up the grip #the harness was done in linen stitch with some scrap brown wool i had laying around #i put a neodymium disc magnet in the little pouch on his back to hold the sword with #it had to be strong enough to hold it THROUGH the knit layer #and it's just hook and eye closures in the front #i left the ones on the shoulder straps visible because i thought it made it look a little more official-soldiery #overall i'm pretty happy with it!!#i can put the bunny pattern link in a reblog/reply if anyone wants it #dawnposts #bunster sword

I made a lot of amigurumi during 2020-2022 it left me with lots of partly used skeins of yarn in random colours. So one of my yarn projects for 2023 is a scrapbuster project. I plan on making a Hygge Burst blanket to use up the awkward scraps I have with bits too small for normal projects.

This is a tiny bit out of my comfort zone as I prefer to buy and use yarn for specific patterns. Or plan out the exact colours and amounts I need so I don't end up with too much extra or short of yarn. A project that is all about just putting things together is a bit intimidating so make a pleasing end project without knowing what it will look like.

I am also making my first magic yarn balls to use up the tiny scraps that can't be used. Eventually they will be used for a project where I hold two strands together one a plain white or black with the multicoloured one.

Something I think is interesting is that on Ravelry, free knit patterns tend to be downloads and free crochet patterns tend to link to a blog post. Like to a noticeable degree, if I find a knit pattern I can usually download a pdf whereas the crochet patterns are free on blog pages with ads and you have to pay for a PDF without ads. Which I'm not even necessarily complaining about, I just think it's interesting

#disgruntled octopus #i am so fed up with my knitting that im going back to crochet and it turns out i dont really like crochet RIP 😔#slightly untrue. i like other peoples crochet.#but im pickier about it than knitting #and i also have less patience for learning new to me techniques and stitches etc #which leaves me with 'easy' or 'beginner' patterns and frankly a lot of em are ugly #or at least are ugly w the scrap yarn i have available and not really beautiful hand dyed wool #so im just like :/#whereas its p easy to make a knit stash buster that looks more put together imo #brought to you by me realizing i dont think i like the 200 stitch chevron blanket i cast on this afternoon
