GATORS!! (potentially. theres signs.) #and this is great cause seeing gators would def heal me as a person #but ok so when i look for hiking places i always look north cause the terrains more hilly #but now im lookin south more cause turns out i AM in fact far enough south to see gators!! #and yeah looks like theres a handful of nature reserves w hiking trails the same distance away as the little mountain trails i go to #its flatter and the trails are less extensive so ill hafta see if i think its worth it #but then too theres a really big black water swamp that.. further away then i wanna drive.. #but also i drove 5 hrs once just to go to mammoth cave as a day trip so.. we'll see.. #my friend says he wont go w me tho :T he'll just report me missing #this has been a tag ramble about my sudden outset intrest in seeing a gator #my bullshit #lol barely but still #also- i told myself not to over do it drawin the scales or coloring it #and as you can see i dont listen to myself ever #lol they look outta place but idc i got to draw 2 of my favorite characters and also ALLIGATORS :U #living the dream rn

Brandon Sanderson: Fantasy vs. Sci-Fi

Almost all of BrandoSando's books straddle the line between the two genres, and after seeing @approximateknowledge's post here, I wondered how they would lay out on that chart. I was also inspired by this fascinating WOB about Skyward's genre. These are just my opinions, so let me know if you agree or what you think you'd change!

#i'm aware they're not all on here these are only the books I've read #and fyi whole series are represented by their first book #i'm quite pleased with my font choices #brandon sanderson #cosmere #cfsbf #stormlight archive #the stormlight archive #mistborn #elantris #skyward #cytoverse #i'm not tagging them all lol #i think its actually a fascinating question: #what makes a story *narratively* sf/f vs *aesthetically* sf/f #personally I chose to base the aesthetic scale on characteristics of the world/story; or 'genre trappings' as brandon puts it #technology level prevalence of magic etc #but the narrative more on themes plot structures and tropes; 'plot archetypes' #my friend and I actually went back and forth on frugal wizard's placement a lot; its a very nice blend #i've read legion but i don't think it fits on this chart at all so i didn't include it lol #i originally had elantris much further left but put it where i had stormlight #i changed it bc i think it represents that quadrant well #but honestly I could swap them back

Got lost in my head and came to a lil realization-

Tumblr is NOT a safe space for people on the spectrum. Not unless you're in specific communities on Tumblr that are about the spectrum.

Honestly the internet isn't a safe place for us because the amount of masking and effort we go through to look over out messages and posts before sending them out is exhausting. Having to go over our own thoughts in a little post like this just so we aren't dismissed, ostracized, or frowned upon for our 'odd thinking' or 'wrong words' is so freaking stressful.

Especially in a creative space for those on the spectrum. There are so many things our brain does in that apartment people would normally find offensive or wrong and that I've been shamed for it's surreal.

So again: Tumblr is NOT a safe space for those on the spectrum.

I didn't think this would get any views or anything cuz it was legit just midnight ramblings but I woke up to so many notifications.

I'm glad that there are many who do feel safe on Tumblr and it stays that way for you. However there are some that understand where I personally come from. I have found friends, communities, and the like on the internet [and on Tumblr] that have become safe spaces for me.

Tumblr was one as a whole where I could share my creative side and relish in some acceptance until- like I'm sure a lot on the spectrum have experienced- I did something that was seen as morally wrong in a way I didn't understand and seemed to become a social pariah because of it. People I considered safe blocked me, or soft blocked me and we went from sharing moments daily to never speaking or acknowledging each other. I was harassed and told that 'not understanding how what I did was considered wrong' was an excuse to avoid accountability. Attempting to explain how my brain worked was seen as 'attention/pity seeking'.

It's not the first time I encountered situations like this just because of the way I think, things I say or do, that go against societal norms and was met in harsh ways. Just the first time in a space I thought safe so soon after my own diagnosis so perhaps it's my personal feelings that make Tumblr no longer safe. Maybe I just got unlucky.

Either way- thank you all for your input, thoughts and stories and I really really hope that should any of you find yourself in a situation like mine you are met with acceptance and understanding and people who will stand by you.
