Episode 1 - In which I craft an ode to Dumpster Fires Everywhere 

I am sorry, but they opened with Battle Hymn of the Republic for PrapaiSky’s wedding? I busted out laughing. 

Also, you KNOW I can’t just let that go.

Thank you, thank you, I’ll be here for the next 7 weeks. Yes some of my rhyming conventions are awkward af but I never claimed to be a filker. Now where was I?

Oh YES, 

STILL AT THE VERY BEGINNING. 

Where have I seen this seme before? Oh! Top Secret Together.

Too many sound effects, abort! Is that the sound tech from Lovely Writer I sniff? Someone please fire his ass. Yes, it must be him. Only a straight dude misuses buttons like that. 

I feel Nuea’s pain I too hate the gym. 

This better not be in one of those situations where after instalove our seme arranges for the wedding planner boy he likes to plan his own wedding so that he can marry him at the end. 

Lots of pronouns going astray in that sentence, but you get my meaning.

Honestly? And this is not usually a criticism I lob at Mame ( I know is there anything I have lobbed at her?) but the leads seem a bit stiff and uninspired. 

It is just me? 

Episode 2 - What’s this? Oh is that boredom? 

What are these boys in these office BLs doing behind their desks on those computers? They never actually seem to be working at all. They’re like brochure stock art ads for boys on computers. 

I had to skip most of the humiliating stuff with the food in the car and whatever was going on because… aargh. 

They keep ordering food in this episode of nobody’s eating it. And it looks really good and I’m hungry and this is very upsetting to me. 

Lom is just totally jerking Nuea around. Just tell him what your relationship is with the bride. 

There’s no need to be so fucking coy about it. 

I love the flaming yelling fit from Nuea tho.  

It was also a good kiss. 

But that’s what we expect from a Mame. 

Mame giveth and mame taketh away. 

Somewhat dull episode frankly. Even with the kiss.

Sigh. What have I become?

Episode 3 - WHAT IS THIS? There is nothing about this episode that pleased me even a tiny bit. Except Noel’s hair. But that wasn’t part of the script. 

Buckle up, I got A LOT to say. 

It’s a pleasure to welcome you back to your normal and expected ABL meets Mame interface where... ABL LOSES THEIR TINY MIND. 

Right on schedule it feels like.

Oh who am I kidding, you sadists life for this shizz. And you can’t tell me you don’t. 

Lom is so frustrating. 

I wanna punch him too. Sing it, sister! 

Random water sports. (And not of the kind one might expect from Mame. Stop it. You know she would go there. She’d think it was edgy.)

We need a name for when a BL reviews itself. 

It keeps happening. 

Should you tell him everything? 

Yes. 

1000 times yes. 

I’m basically screaming it at the screen. 

TELL HIM!!!! 

You tricked him into a date without telling him a single thing about what’s actually going on. Are you insane?

You keep kissing him but he is planning your wedding. How fucked up are you? You monster 

A Mame show calling out its own exploitive sexism is so fucking awkward. 

Mame. Sweetheart. Snookums. Sugarbeans. Shaken-baccon. You don’t have enough fucking talent to go meta. Leave it to the better BLs to follow trends. Your shizz is old fashioned and that’s why people like it. Don’t try to be classy, it makes this whole shit show just look even more shabby. 

Poor baby. 

Now he’s doubting himself completely.

I’m going to transport you to this other terrible BL trash watch happening right now, where there is a LOVELY adorable boy named Max and I think you would be perfect together. 

So it’s basically just Narnia-level closet cases we are dealing with here?

THAT’S THE EXCUSE FOR THIS LEVEL OF MANIPULATION?

WHAT IS GOING ON? 

Nuea is such a cutie.

I want to punch Lom all over again.   

Noel looks v pretty as a blond. 

The proposal sequence was unnecessary. But at least I don’t wanna punch anyone. 

THIS IS NOT AN EXCUSE for lying. For manipulation. For not understanding how you’re betraying another person’s faith in himself. 

Especially not if you’re in the position of power: social, cultural, employer. 

Why doesn’t Mame EVER understand this? 

You can’t have a character that is sincere and earnest in love and yet entirely lacking in all forms of integrity. 

This is driving me crazy. 

No one is in the show is as crazy as this show is making me.

I started this episode wanting to punch Lom, and I’m ending this episode wanting to punch Lom.

That’s a mame plot for ya. 

No character development at all, on any side of the screen. 

And someone, mostly me, is always left with a mad desire to punch something. 

Frankly, I kinda want to punch the screen.

Episode 4 - I Am Going to Start Drinking

I like consent especially when “no” is activated. But this being Mame she shoe horns it in and then the seme ignores it. 

It’s so awkward. She’s actually incapable of making any non-problematic tropes sexy. It’s like there is only one lane for her shows and that lane is...

the WORST 

My “Punch Lom in the face 2023” campaign continues.

I don’t see how he can ever become a sympathetic character. He just trundles along lying by omission (when speaking up would make everything better). I hate him. 

I’m glad we get to see Nuea suffering, now show Lom what he has done and make him lose the boy. 

No? No.

Instead Lom gets rewarded with sex for being a sleazy lying gutless jerk? Well terds to both you fine gentlemen. 

I mean, very gay of you, Nuea sweetie. 

“Because just SOOOO hot” being the #1 excuse in my personal “I slept with WHAT?” experience. (Heh, to be fair I’m often the WHAT? in that equation. I live to be someone’s bad mistake... just not Lom-level-bad. 

Where was I? 

Oh yeah, Gaga has the sex scene. FYI. Came outta nowhere, that sex scene did. Very disjointed... not that kind of joint. Not that kind either.

It’s not a particularly impressive sex scene, which is disappointing. Because WHY ELSE WOULD WE BE WATCHING?

I mean, if you’re going to have your characters (and by extension us) forfeit all integrity and taste in order to watch your stupid show, the least you could do is give us decent chemistry. 

I’m not saying this is worse than LITA but at least LITA was hot.

It wasn’t anything else. But it was hot.

In conclusion: if Nuea’s baby bro doesnt’t punch Lom in the face next week I will have to start drinking on Weds...

Imma preemptively point out that I am aware that bearding and lavender marriages are still quite common all over the world. I would whole heartedly support a good depiction of it. (Even one where it stays fix in the beard position.) This is NOT a good depiction. 

I shall draw your attention to 2017′s rarely discussed (not really BL) We Are Gamily out of... you guessed it... Taiwan. You can argue with me about this only AFTER you have watched that. 

Okay, back to the trash watch. 

Episode 5 - I Neglected to Drink and that was a Mistake

Ate a lot of crap traveling home today (feel gross) + tumblr new desktop UX has me pissed + Mame & alcohol? I’m not sure I’d survive. So no alcohol. 

Here we go. 

Poor Nuea feels so guilty. 

Please save me from ever feeling that way after sex. *shudder* 

Before you ask, to the best of my knowledge, I have never slept with a married person. I’ve slept with married people... married to each other mind you... but I hope that makes it clear everyone was consensual. (I recommend it, by the way. Being a unicorn is lots of fun.) 

Where was i? 

We were dealing with punching Lom not my misspent youth. 

(looks at calendar. wait, that was last month.) 

PUNCH LOM 2023! 

Queen! 

I love her.

It wasn’t a physical punch but a verbal one is almost as good. (And can be more damaging in the long run.) 

Could we please still have an actual punch?

Pretty please?

Mame punches her characters all the time. And no character ever deserved a punching more than Lom. 

I do wish there was a nice boy back home to scoop Nuea up. 

That line of boys wanting him, could we see it, not be told it? 

I do like the random sinshine hyung side couple. 

Omg. COLD MICKY D?! 

That might just be the most objectionable moment in this whole show. 

And that’s a tall order. 

Pun intended.

(straight, HA! pun not intended but still very much THERE) 

Was I pleased we got multiple characters who are just outright gay? Yes. 

But representation has not been one of Mame’s issues. 

I mean Tharn was one of the first openly gay seme leads in a Thai BL, and she also had rep for lube and condoms in that show. That’s not the issue with TharnType. Or Mame. 

Her issues tend to revolve around story structure and audience manipulation. 

Was I pleased that Nuea knew what was going on? Yes, I’m glad he’s not totally clueless. 

I still want Lom to be punched in the face and I’m still mad at this show. 

Episode 6 - Too hot to drink, still a Mistake

I finally figured out my real problem with Lom. It’s not that he was closeted and manipulative without good reason (although he is). It’s not that he lied and strung Nuea along for a lot longer than was necessary (because he did). It is that he basically does everything for himself and his own ends. Even when he’s confessing his love it comes off as flat because it isn’t about Nuea and what Nuea wants or needs, it’s about Lom wants.

Hanging a lampshade on it doesn’t make it right. 

It was good bridge kiss. And car kiss. And sex kisses. 

There is something corrupted grunge romantic asking the person you love most in the world to hide that love and climb back into the closet with you for the sake of your nasty arse family (is that a queer taboo, hum). I’m not saying lavender marriages are necessarily wrong, I’m just saying it’s an interesting plot twist in a BL. 

I think we HAVE to hold this up and examine it in stark contrast to the final ep of Bad Buddy. It’s interesting how the closet retreat didn’t bother me at all in BB, and I thought it was quite a clever and elegant ending twist. Whereas here it’s just annoying. It’s not making me as angry as it probably should. But it is annoying as a narrative conceit and denouement.

Can I ask a question.

 It’s not a serious question, of course. 

What is up with all of the shows this year having dates on lakes featuring that thing where you ride a funny little floaty-boat while being dragged behind a fast boat. I’m sure it has a name, but I could not care less. New sponsor? 

The sex scene was fine. But I have to say, I wish they had leaned into the fact that Lom is a virgin and Nuea has more experience. It would’ve been a really interesting dynamic to see honestly represented on screen.

In conclusion, Nuea is a saint and next week everything comes to a head that didn’t already get head this episode.

Episode 7 - Finally I’m drinking! 

I am having a tiki beverage this evening to round out this show. Coconut rum and mango popping Boba are involved. Don’t judge. I have the alcohol palate of a 7 year old. 

I’m ready! Let’s shave this beard!

And, well, that was a pink saturated drama of the mothers in law. Enjoyable lakorn style scenery chewing. The ladies seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Lom pretending to be sad and pitiful. Also funny. 

Using his evil against his mom is acceptable. Suddenly his manipulative lying ways are working in the right direction. 

Honestly? 

This was a fine ending, I’m not mad at it. 

They managed to keep Lom in character until the end, he remained deceitful.  I would never trust him, but clearly Nuea is willing to ride that dragon. 

I guess 7/10? 

If you can tolerate Mame and liars (kinda the same thing) you’ll be fine with this show. 

But, frankly? Lom as a character would sit better amongst the drama bananas of Only Friends.

In summation: 

A lackluster Mame offering with less of her usual stellar chemistry, but all of her usual manipulation. An innocent wedding planner falls haplessly and hopelessly in love with a groom who relentlessly pursues him, even though he’s about to marry someone else.

Suddenly your thoughts were interrupted when you heard the door aggressively open and heavy footsteps, you became excited as you knew that Miguel had finally arrived, but when you heard that he was stumbling around and you turned to him you were shocked. You saw your husband covered in bruises and wounds, and his suit was glitching, you hadn’t seen him like that in such a long time, you weren’t even sure that you had ever seen him that bad.

Hearing him groan in pain pulled you out of your shock state and you soon started to realize how messed up he actually looked.

Tales From Under The Wisteria Tree Chapter 6 - The Tailor

Philza stayed awake. His brain was still shot with adrenaline. His brain was screaming danger danger danger. 

“Deep breaths,” he whispered. Missa was safe and that was all he cared about. Right now all he needed was for Missa to get sleep and he could rest tomorrow night.

The late hours of the night stretched into the early hours of the morning. Eventually, the sun rose above the horizon.

“Missa. We’re ok.”

“Good, now you can get some sleep,” Missa murmured, trying to grab at Phil to pull him into the mess of bedrolls and half-burnt cloaks.

“No silly. We need to get to the village. You need new clothes and I’m fine.”

“But it’s early~” Missa whined. He blinked open his eyes and gave Phil the most pathetic puppy-dog eyes possible. 

They really did need to leave. It wasn’t safe to stay in one spot for too long. 

“What would convince you to get up wisteria.” The nickname felt soft on the top of his tongue. 

“Wings.”

“What?”

“Your wings are soft, I want to hug them.” 

“And you promise you’ll get up?”

“Promise.” Phil sighed and extended his wings. Missa did the same thing he did yesterday when he first saw them and ran his hands over them, as if he was testing they were real, before resting his head against them. 

“Why do you like my wings so much?”

“They’re soft. And warm. And cozy.”

“Yeah, but they’re just wings.”

“They’re like angel wings.”

Waking up and getting to hug Phil’s wings was probably the best feeling ever. Missa would never get over how soft they were. 

“Ok, that’s enough of that,” Philza said with an awkward laugh.

“Fine. I keep my promises.” Missa slowly got up. He brushed his fingers through his hair. Burnt pieces of hair touched his hand. 

“Did the dragon fry my hair?” He asked.

Philza squinted at his hair. “It doesn’t look like it.”

“Feel it, idiot!” Missa grabbed Phil’s hand and placed it in his hair. 

“Oh. Yeah, the tips are singed.”

“No mames.”

“You still got the dagger?”

“I put it in my bag. Why?”

“It's the best thing to cut hair that we’ve got.”

“No. There’s no way you’re cutting my hair with a literal knife.”

“It’s either that or hair that’s burnt.”

Missa sighed. “Fine. Don’t you dare fuck up my hair.”

Phil laughed as he moved to grab the dagger from Missa’s bag. “You trust me to save your life but not to cut your hair.”

“Nope, don’t trust you with my hair.”

Another laugh. “Liar.”

“Just cut my hair bird boy.” Phil did, carefully cutting off burnt hair.

“Can I even it out, like, making it all normal.”

“Yeah.” And so he did, hair kept falling and Missa’s long hair became much more mullet-like. 

“All done?”

“Yep.”

Missa grabbed his bag. “All ready to go?”

“You realize that you can’t just leave the hair lying around. You do realize that locks of hair are a part of fae courting rituals right?”

“They’re what?”

“Have you read the entry on fae?”

“Not yet…”

“When you get the chance you should.”

“So where is the hair going to go?”

“I’ll keep it here,” Phil held up a small bag. “If that’s ok with you of course.”

“Sure.” Phil took the hair and put it in the small cloth bag.

Phil had to tuck his wings under his shirt, which was much more uncomfortable than hiding them under a cloak. But Missa was still clinging onto the shreds of his cloak, not that it would do much anyway.

The pair made their way back to the village in a few hours, getting a few weird stares probably due to the state of their clothes.

“Do you know the way to a tailor?” Missa asked a young woman who looked them both up and down before answering.

“Uh, yeah. Left at the fountain in the town square. A big sign that says ‘Roier’s Woven Wonders’.”

“Roier’s place! Oh, I’ve met him before, he’s a great tailor, C’mon Wisteria.” Phil tugged on Missa’s arm and they took off towards the town square. 

“Who’s Roier?”

“You’ll see!”

“This better be good,” Missa grumbled.

“Trust me you’ll love him.”

When they stopped outside the shop Missa had to admit that the dark brick stood out against the rest of the shops. It was decorated nicely.

“Oi Roier!” Phil yelled as he entered the shop.

“Felipe? Felipe Craft? No mames!” A tall, wiry man appeared from seemingly nowhere and tackled Phil in a hug.

“Hey mate, long time no see!”

“Who’s this?” Roier said, finally looking at Missa.

“Oh, this is Missa.”

“I thought we weren’t using names with strangers?” Missa asked, confused.

“Roier isn’t Fae.”

“Fuckin cursed by them,” Roier said. “But that’s not what you two are here for. You need clothes.”

“How did you– Oh right our clothes are ruined,” Missa said. 

“Dragon?” Roier asked Phil, who sighed before responding.

“Unfortunately.”

“You came to the right place then. Set up a shop since you last saw me. Putting my skills to good use.”

“I see that, how’s Cellbit?”

“Good, he’s with Bagi.”

Missa was left confused as the conversation drifted towards things he had no part in. 

Phil mentioning his name is what clued him in that he should start listing “–Missa and I need clothes made of spider silk.”

“You do realize that you want six outfits made out of spider silk. That would take me months to make enough string for that.”

“What’s spider silk?” Missa interjected.

“The highest quality silk in the world,” Roier explained.

“Why do we need spider silk clothes?”

“Temporary precaution in case we get stuck in the Underdark,” Phil explained.

“Get stuck where?” Missa asked.

“Underdark is the realm of nightmare creatures,” Roier explained.

“It’s only a precaution. It will keep us warm enough in the underdark but it will also help at night too.”

“The most spider silk I can spare is for your cloaks and a basic set of clothes for each of you.”

“And you have normal cloth right?” Phil asked. 

“Ay Felipe,” Roier turned to Missa. “Can you believe him? Your husband is trying to rob me of everything I’m worth.”

“Husband?” Missa asked.

“Wait Phil–” Roier started.

“Last time we met I told Roier I was done traveling until I found someone to share my adventures with. He must have assumed that meant a husband, right Roier?”

Phil shot Roier a pointed glance.

“Yeah, yeah, sorry about the assumption. I’ll need measurements for each of you. Once I have those I should only be an hour.”

“An hour?” Missa asked.

“Speedy hands,” Roier said with a flourish. “Phil, you first.”

“What the hell was that bullshit? Not your husband? I could smell the bond on him from a mile away. You gave him fae food?”

“Roier you don’t understand–”

“You think I don’t understand how fae work?” He pulled up his sleeve revealing a sigil branded onto his arm. Phil winced and looked away. “I’m eternally bonded to one. I know the signs.”

“He gets to choose.”

“But to all fae you meet, they will see the two of you as partners.”

Phil felt his cheeks go warm. “Yes.”

“So, what’s next?”

“I court him the human way. If he rejects me then I break the bond.”

“That sucks dude, human courting is weird.”

“Weirder than exchanging names, eating food, and gifting locks of hair?”

Roier laughed. “I know your clan is weird about the idea of ‘kidnapping’, which by the way isn’t kidnapping.”

“It is–”

“Don’t care, anyway look at him, he’s literally clinging onto the cloak you gave him.”

“He’s cold.”

“That shred of fabric ain’t warming him up but keep believing that if you want.”

“He knows about my wings,” Phil said his brain had lost its filter. 

“Oh?”

“He didn’t run away screaming.”

“You want me to design some slits for your wings in the back of your clothes? That way they can still be covered by the cloak but more comfortable than normal stuff.”

“That would be great, you have no idea how many shirts I’ve ruined by making slits for them.”

“I’ve already got the measurements from the last time you visited, you should be good. I just needed to get you to fess up about your crush on your little human.”

“Shut up.” Phil paused. “Can I ask you for a favor though?”

“Always, you’ve only saved my life like twice.”

“Add some green designs into Missa’s clothes for me.”

Roier muttered curses under his breath. “You think I’d learn to not blindly accept deals with fae.”

“He should be ready to take your measurements now,” Phil said after leaving the backroom.

“Thanks,” Missa said.

“Close the curtain behind you.”

“Okay?” Roier took off his jacket and revealed a… second set of arms?

“Fastest sewer in the world.” He said, flexing his arms.

“I bet. How did you…”

“I was cursed by a fae. Became an arachnid. Basically a giant spider beast. When I got turned back I was left with these. Curse residuals. Nothing can get rid of them. I’m also eternally bound to the fae who cursed me.”

“Bound?”

“This thing on my arm: it’s the mark of my curse.”

“Oh wait, spider beast. Spider silk!”

“Yep, now let me get your measurements.” Roier took his measurements surprisingly quickly. His extra set of arms really did make him a better tailor. “Done, now you can go wait outside with Felipe.”

“Ok.”

Phil was sitting down on a bench, he was writing a new entry in his journal of the fae creatures.

“What’s that one about?”

“Fae curses, specifically ones that transfigure humans.”

“Like Roier?”

“Yeah…” He let out a yawn.

“I told you that you need sleep.”

“I’ll be fine.” Another yawn.

Missa took the journal out of his hands. “You’re sleeping, you need a break.” He sat down next to Phil.

“Where?” Missa sighed and moved so that he could be a comfortable pillow. When Phil rested his head on Missa’s shoulder he felt Phil relax a little bit. “Thank you.”

“I’ll read that entry on Fae you were talking about.”

“M’kay.”

Fae (General)

Also known as Faery, Fairy, tricksters, Elven folk, or Magical beings.

Most Fae fall under a different classification, such as changelings for example. 

This is an overview of most Fae. Separate classifications will be separate entries.

Fae are tricksters. At the end of the day, they put themselves and their clan above all else.

Clans are a sense of family. Although there are many clans most specialize in certain areas.

For example, the king’s clan specializes in trickery, maintaining balance, and helping other fae.

His ‘children’ (faelings in his clan) are helpful but they tend to follow their father’s more mischievous tendencies.

Clans can be quite small with a singular head of the clan or they can be quite large with up to five heads per clan.

Fae are immortal. With few exceptions to this, most Underdark creatures can kill fae. Venom, dark sabers, etc. Fae born in the Underdark are truly immortal, but a fae born in the Underdark is very rare considering how dangerous that realm is for Fae. They look very different from normal fae.

Most Fae have wings. Butterfly wings, Dragonfly wings, or any other type of insect wings are common. Bird wings are rarer. And the rarest are dragon wings. Dragon wings are exclusive to Underdark fae and Dragonborn fae. 

Fae and Humans

Fae are known for their unique relationship with humans. 

Fae food, gifting names, and giving locks of hair are way to bond yourself to a fae. 

-Fae food can send you to fairyland but it can also bond you to the person who grew/made the food.

-gifting names. Don’t share your name with a stranger . However, if a fae gives you their name and you give yours in exchange it can be seen as an act of courting.

-Locks of hair are special. They must be willingly given and often used when negotiating a deal with a fae.

Fae food that sends a human to fairyland must be given. Not sold. If anything is given in exchange for fae food it nulls the ability for it to transport humans.

Fae partners are often called “beloveds”. Beloveds are immune to aging. They will not die of old age however they can still die by any other means.

Fae Courting

The strength of the bond goes as follows, from weakest to strongest. Names exchanged, food given, hair exchanged.

Often the hair that is exchanged is used in a ceremony called handfasting. Ribbons meant to represent the couple are braided together along with the hair that was exchanged. It is used to represent commitment to each other. Hands are bound together using this braided rope. 

This ceremony officially declares that a human is now a beloved. Most fae do not consider this ceremony a requirement to consider themselves partners.

Certain clans have rules about the courting of humans. These clans may specify that the human must be in full agreement of the bond before they are able to travel to fairyland. Some exceptions to this can be made but these clans strictly forbid the capture of humans for servitude.

To these clans humans are special. They may be more overprotective around other fae and more “claiming” may be involved. Claiming means different things to different clans but most bonded have a significant mark. A tattoo, a charm, a necklace; something to remind other fae around that the human is theirs.

Missa sighed. His brain was overwhelmed with information. He felt the emerald still in his pocket from earlier. He carefully took it out, careful not to disturb Philza who was still fast asleep on his shoulder.

The gem was almost like a teardrop. However, it still had jagged edges like it had only been smoothed partially. It would make a perfect necklace. He reached into his bag and fished out his pocket knife, he probably should have asked Phil to cut his hair with this rather than a dagger.

He angled the knife and started to carve out a small hole towards the tip of the teardrop, just thick enough to slip a small piece of cord through. He carefully untied a string of his bag and threaded it through the tiny hole, making the gem hang from the center. While he was tying a knot, one of those adjustable ones, Roier stepped out of the backroom.

“All done!”

“Has it really been an hour?”

“Yep. How’s the sleepy head?”

“Well, he’s asleep.”

“You should make sure the measurements are accurate.” Roier handed him the stack of clothes. “Everything should fit but make sure to try on both the spider silk and the normal outfits. The material could fit differently.”

“Okay.” Missa carefully stood up, only moving Phil a tiny bit. It didn’t really matter though, Phil was fast asleep.

He went into the back room and changed into the outfit made of spider silk. Roier was right, it was warm. It also fits perfectly. Roier really did know how to make clothes. He then tried on the normal clothes next. They weren’t as soft as the spider silk but they were much more breathable.

Missa looked at himself in the mirror. The pants were black and the shirt was a deep blue. The sleeves had green designs and they resembled flowers, if Missa squinted he could also see hearts and feathers incorporated into the design. He also admired the cloak which was made of spider silk. It had a similar design as the sleeves, but the green slowly blended into the rich purple of the cloak.

“Is this good?” Missa asked, stepping out of the back room.

“Much better.”

Missa looked towards Phil. “He’s still asleep huh?”

“I can wake him up!” Roier offered, eager to annoy his friend. 

“No, don't! He barely slept last night.”

“Then do you want to come upstairs? I’m sure Cellbit left some tea lying around somewhere before he left.”

“That would be great.”

Missa noticed the necklace he left on top of his bag. He tucked it into his pocket before he followed Roier up a small set of stairs towards the back of the shop.

“Pepito! We have guests!” 

“Apa Roier!” A small boy yelled before grabbing onto Roier’s leg.

“AY!” Roier picked up the boy, “Pepito, Pepito, Pepitooooo! Did Apa Cellbit leave some tea in the kitchen?”

“Mhm, and some cocoa powder! Can I have some?”

“What’s the magic word?”

“Please?”

Missa was suddenly struck with an overwhelming amount of homesickness for Chayanne. 

“Alright I’ll boil us some water, go draw Pepito, I’ll call you when yours is ready.”

“Thanks apa!” The boy bounded off for another room down the corridor. 

“Sorry about him.”

“No, no, don’t be. My son is the same way.”

“You have a son?” The two made their way into the kitchen. 

“Yeah, he’s seven. Had my friend watch over him so that he’d be safe.”

“Pepito is four, a bundle of energy, but he tends to put it into his drawings.”

“Chayanne is the same way.” Missa laughed. “Except he uses his energy to try and fight his friends with wooden swords. Nearly gave me a heart attack the first time I saw him fighting.”

Missa smiled at the fond memory. His son was roughly the same age as Pepito when Missa caught him making a wooden sword. He smiled and said “Look, papa! Now I’m like you!” Missa nearly cried that day.

The sound of boiling water distracted him from his memories. “Shit.” Roier quickly poured the water into three mugs. He was adding tea to two and cocoa powder to another. 

“Pepito cocoa!”

The three sat down at the table, Pepito’s legs swinging back and forth. “Hello Mr.”

“Hi pepito.”

“What’s your name?”

“Missa.”

“Great! Apa, Mr. Missa has very pretty clothes. Did you make them?”

“I did Pepito, why?”

“I want you to make me pretty clothes!”

“Pepito, I already made you plenty of clothes.”

“But I want flowy ones like Mr. Missa’s.” The four-year-old pouted. 

Roier let out a laugh. “I’ll make you flowy ones.”

“Yay!” Pepito went back to drawing on the blank paper with crayons.

“What’s that?” Roier pointed at the cord falling out of Missa’s pocket.

“Oh. Nothing special.” He took it out of his pocket and put it on the table.

“Who’s it for?”

“Who said it was for anybody?” Missa sputtered.

“You just don’t strike me as the type of guy to wear jeweled necklaces.”

Missa paused, he should not be asking Roier if— “Does Phil like these types of necklaces?” He was done for.

Roier’s grin turned sharklike. “I bet he’d love it. But you should use a different material for the cord.”

“Like what?”

“Let me go grab some.” Roier stood up and headed into the hallway.

What was Missa going to do while he waited? Pepito was distracted drawing. Roier had left. Tea. He’d drink his tea. 

“Got some!” Roier came back into the room with a handful of ribbon. “Purple and green ribbon. You should braid them together, it’ll go with the clothes I made him.”

“Oh. Okay.” Missa took the ribbon from Roier and braided the ribbon together. It looked rather pretty when he was done with it.

“Now you can take that plain cord out and replace it with this! Much more personal don’t you think?” 

“Yeah.” Missa admired the necklace. It did look a lot better this way. 

Phil blinked his eyes open. Did he really fall asleep? Missa was right, he really was tired. “Missa?”

He looked to his left. No Missa.

“Missa?” He said, this time a bit louder.

“He’s upstairs with me Felipe!” Roier called. 

Phil noticed the stack of clothes on the table in front of him. He had to check on Missa first. 

The first thing he noticed was the necklace on the table, then Pepito, and then the designs on Missa’s clothes. Then the wicked grin on Roier’s face. That mother fucker.

“Hi, Pepito. How are you, buddy?”

“Hi Tio Philza, I’m good.”

“I left your clothes on the table downstairs,” Roier said. 

“Oh yeah, I noticed that.”

“They’re really comfortable,” Missa said. “You should change.”

“Oh ok.” Phil instantly walked downstairs and changed into normal clothes. Missa could ask him to do anything and he’d instantly do it. 

The clothes looked like Missa’s. Roier even added similar detailing on the sleeves, except his was purple and the main color of the shirt was a deep emerald green.

The slits in the back fit his wings perfectly. He grabbed his cloak but he decided not to put it over his wings. He would give them a moment to stretch. 

When he came back upstairs he noticed Missa’s trailing eyes staring at his wings. “So uh, what’s happening guys?”

“Nothing much,” Roier said. “Waiting for you to wake up and then Missa showed me something he was working on.”

“Roier!” Missa shouted, pulling the necklace off the table.

“Show him it!” Roier urged. Phil pretended like he didn't see it. 

“Fine, I will.” He pulled out the necklace and handed it to Phil. “It’s for you. I got the emerald from the dragon’s hoard. Roier gave me the ribbon.” Missa was hiding his face from Phil. 

“You’re welcome,” Roier said before standing up and grabbing Pepito. “I’m going to put him down for a nap then we can discuss payment.”

Phil still hadn’t said anything about the necklace. When he took a peak at Phil he wasn’t standing across from him. “Can you put it on, I can’t quite reach.” Missa nodded and tied it, face still hot. “Thank you, sweetheart.”

“No problem.” He stuttered as Roier came back into the room.

“Alright, Pepito is asleep. Now Phil, spider string outfits are going to cost you. The rest are free but I can’t give out premium outfits for free.”

“15 gold.”

Roier barked out a laugh. “Are you insane? I charge that much for a normal shirt. 100. Each.”

Phil scowled. “150.”

“I’m giving you a deal on 100 each, the lowest I’ll do is 175 for the two of them.”

“Fine. My bag is downstairs.” They all headed downstairs and Phil pulled the money out of his bag. “175. As you asked.” Phil threw his cloak on, careful to hide his wings. “See you around again mate.” 

“Hope you two have fun on your little adventure,” Roier said with a wave. 

“It was nice meeting you, Roier,” Missa said as he also put his cloak on, mirroring Philza.

“Bye, mate,” Phil said before they left the shop. 

“Three hours until sundown. We should have enough time to get out of the area and set up camp.”

“Why do we need to leave so soon?”

“Just a precaution. The scent should be thrown off by the change of clothes and the amount of people around us in that village but I’d rather be safe than sorry.”

“Ok.”

About an hour or two later the sky was turning almost pink. “This should be good right?”

“Yeah, I spotted a river nearby too.”

“I’ll set up the bedrolls if you want to get a bucket of water for the fire.” Phil nodded, set down his bag, and left for the river with a bucket in hand. 

Missa rolled out the bedrolls, and gathered some firewood, before sitting on his bedroll to take off his cloak. He put it down next to him as Phil got back.

“Wow you got firewood and everything, that’s great!”

“Mhm.” Missa scratched at his hair, despite all the burnt pieces being cut off he could feel some ash still clinging to the roots of his hair.

“What’s wrong Wisteria?”

“Nothing.”

“You seem uncomfortable, is there anything you need?”

Missa sighed. “My hair feels a little dirty but it’s fine I swear.” 

“I could help you wash it, we’ve got the water anyway.” 

“Isn’t that for the fire?”

“It’s warm enough out tonight. We should be fine without one.”

“How would you even wash my hair? I don’t have any shampoo or anything, I've been using stuff from the inns.”

“I’ve got my own shampoo, don’t worry about how I’ve got it all taken care of. If you want me to, I will.”

Missa considered it. He did trust Phil. He did want his hair cleaned. But was this too much? This was a lot. But Phil offered. He didn’t have to do that. He probably wouldn’t have offered it if it had been an inconvenience for him.

“Fine.” 

Missa had agreed to let him wash his hair. His brain was yelling thousands of things at him but he had to drown them out. He needed his shampoo and brushes, so he grabbed them from his bags. He wanted Missa to be comfortable. 

“Over here should be good.” Missa followed Phil and sat down next to him. “The water is going to be a little cold but I’ll do my best to avoid getting the water in your eyes. Can you lean back a little?”

“Yeah.” Phil splashed some water until he could lather on the shampoo. “You know I used to do this with my son, especially when he was younger. He’d complain that I washed his hair better so I should just do it for him.”

“Yeah?” Phil started to scrub at Missa’s scalp. It was a calming feeling, knowing Missa trusted him this much. Not only to allow him to wash his hair but to share stories about his son.

“He loves to be babied sometimes. He puts on this strong facade but at the end of the day when it’s just me and him he just clings to me like he’s little again.”

“That’s really sweet.”

“He has this huge bedroom, it’s honestly bigger than mine. But for years he would crawl into my bed in the middle of the night. Eventually, I just started putting him to bed in my bed then I’d clean up the house a little and head back to bed. Now his bedroom is basically just a huge playroom.” Philza leaned Missa’s head back so he could rinse off the shampoo. “I miss him a lot.”

“I bet. He sounds like he’s your whole world.”

“He is.”

“You mind if we go back to the bedrolls, I left a small towel in my bag and your hair kind of needs to be dried a bit more before I can brush it.”

“You don’t have to do that.”

“I already have my brushes out,” Phil said as he helped Missa up. 

The two made their way over to the bedrolls and Phil dried Missa’s hair.

“Are you sure? My hair always tangles because of how long it is.”

“Believe me, I’m sure Wisteria.” Phil touched the emerald that hung at his neck.

“Do you mind if I tell you more stories about my son, it feels good to talk about him.”

“Of course, I love hearing them.”

Missa laughed, before launching into a tale about the time his son got stuck in a toy bin. Philza just listened as he brushed through the knots that had somehow formed in Missa’s hair.

“Do you mind if I tie your hair up? Like half of it, so it stays out of your face while you’re sleeping. I always hate it when my hair is in my face.”

“Do whatever, I’m getting a bit tired though.” Phil reached into his bag and found a bit of purple and green ribbon in there. Roier must have slipped it in there while he wasn’t looking. He took a bit of the green ribbon and used it to tie up Missa’s hair. He then took a small section of hair from behind Missa’s ear and braided it. Slowly whispering the words of a charm he had used so many times before on his kids' hair. 

Protect this one I love.

Protect them from the kiss of death.

Save them with the love I have woven,

And let them stay with me for a little longer.

The charm set with a green shimmer. It wouldn’t unravel unless there had actually been a brush with death. 

“Ok done.”

“Thanks, Cuervo.”

“I’m glad I was able to help.” Missa turned to face him with a soft smile on his face. 

“I’m going to get some rest, you should too.”

“Ok, goodnight Wisteria,” Phil said as he packed the extra supplies in his bag before lying down.

“Goodnight,” Missa murmured. He was already half asleep.

Wedding Plan Ep 7 (Finale) Stray Thoughts

Last week, Lom finally managed to clear things up with Namnuea with the help of Yiwa and Marine. We learned that Lom also experienced The Knowing along with Yiwa when they were kids and have been loyal to each other for over a decade as a result. Nuea and Lom got it in a second time, and Nuea asked to help carry their secret, much Lom’s awe and surprise. Accepting Nuea’s decision, Nuea’s family declared that Lom is theirs now, should his own family turn on him. Meanwhile, Yiwa’s mom was absolutely cruel to Marine, and so Yiwa has decided to run off right before the wedding.

Where is your grace, Saichom? Why would you scream out the problem instead of solving it? This is why your kids haven’t told you who they are.

Oh, Lom, I wish she had warned you, too.

How quickly these two moms turned on each other after being aligned for over a decade.

Not this guest living for the drama and filming it! They’re throwing the staff around!

I really love the choice to mute other sounds and play music over it instead before cutting to the guests leaving.

Namnuea really is good at his job.

Lom is laughing about all of this! He can read between the lines when it comes to Yiwa.

I love that Lom was correct about Yiwa, and that she didn’t tell him to save him the difficulty of lying. Also relieved that these two have a plan to land on their feet in England.

Lom is having too much fun playing heartbroken.

Oh, I need to hand out a clown aware for whoever guessed that Nuea was faking sad and drunk from the preview with the flask.

Okay, I love that Namnuea is out of vacation leave from when he ran off earlier. Im said, I got you, boo, but you also gotta get me!

The couple photo of Lom and Nuea is fantastic, holy shit.

Okay, this was a good parent moment. “I might find it difficult to accept, but please don’t disappear,” is honestly so reasonable. I’m into it. Lom hasn’t come out formally yet, but they’re talking about it.

I love the bickering in this company. They’re so funny. Now they’re gossiping. I love it here.

Alright, I have a lot of big thoughts about Lom’s mom coming around and Lom reading between the lines on his mother to know that she gave her blessing as best she could.

Final Verdict: 9.5, Highly Recommended. I never expected to be earnestly recommending a MAME show this year, but here we are. The final resolution of this show reveals an understanding of the fundamental nature of the closet in a way I did not think MAME was capable of. Yiwa understood that the gender politics of their existences meant that she and Marine could not be happy in Thailand and so she decided to leave. I love that with all that Lom and she have given up for each other, I like her taking the opportunity to take on all the hate and derision for him. I love that it’s her choice and not one foisted upon her or expected of her. With this opportunity, Lom and Nuea are allowed to soft-launch their relationship. This is actually so beautiful to me because I like the queers collectively deciding when everyone else is allowed to know. I like that they have to create a narrative that the hets will accept for them to come out peacefully. It’s not fun to live a lie, but we’re not the ones demanding the lies of us. I’m absolutely floored by the earnest way this show faced all of these obstacles and took what felt like such a gross starting line to a fantastic finish. I’m only taking a point here because the kissing with the girls was bad, and their chemistry was a little weak. So, yeah, watch the MAME show about the wedding planner getting the groom.

Do you know what this is? Probably not. But if you follow me and enjoy retro gaming, you REALLY should know about it.

I see all of these new micro consoles, and retro re-imaginings of game consoles and I think to myself "Why?" WHY would you spend a decent chunk of your hard-earned money on some proprietary crap hardware that can only play games for that specific system?? Or even worse, pre-loaded titles and you can't download / add your own to the system!? Yet, people think it's great and that seems to be a very popular way to play their old favorites vs. emulation which requires a "certain degree of tech savvy" (and might be frowned upon from a legal perspective).

So, let me tell you about the Mad Catz M.O.J.O (and I don't think the acronym actually means anything). This came out around the same time as the nVidia Shield and the Ouya - seemingly a "me too" product from a company that is notorious for oddly shaped 3rd party game controllers that you would never personally use, instead reserved exclusively for your visiting friends and / or younger siblings. It's an Android micro console with a quad-core 1.8 GHz nVidia Tegra 4 processor, 2 GB of RAM, 16GB of onboard storage (expandable via SD card), running Android 4.2.2. Nothing amazing here from a hardware perspective - but here's the thing most people overlook - it's running STOCK Android - which means all the bloatware crap that is typically installed on your regular consumer devices, smartphones, etc. isn't consuming critical hardware resources - so you have most of the power available to run what you need. Additionally, you get a GREAT controller (which is surprising given my previous comment about the friend / sibling thing) that is a very familiar format for any retro-age system, but also has the ability to work as a mouse - so basically, the same layout as an Xbox 360 controller + 5 additional programmable buttons which come in very handy if you are emulating. It is super comfortable and well-built - my only negative feedback is that it's a bit on the "clicky" side - not the best for environments where you need to be quiet, otherwise very solid.

Alright now that we've covered the hardware - what can it run? Basically any system from N64 on down will run at full speed (even PSP titles). It can even run an older version of the Dreamcast emulator, Reicast, which actually performs quite well from an FPS standpoint, but the emulation is a bit glitchy. Obviously, Retroarch is the way to go for emulation of most older game systems, but I also run DOSbox and a few standalone emulators which seem to perform better vs. their RetroArch Core equivalents (list below). I won't get into all of the setup / emulation guide nonsense, you can find plenty of walkthroughs on YouTube and elsewhere - but I will tell you from experience - Android is WAY easier to setup for emulation vs. Windows or another OS. And since this is stock Android, there is very little in the way of restrictions to the file system, etc. to manage your setup.

I saved the best for last - and this is truly why you should really check out the M.O.J.O. even if you are remotely curious. Yes, it was discontinued years ago (2019, I think). It has not been getting updates - but even so, it continues to run great, and is extremely reliable and consistent for retro emulation. These sell on eBay, regularly for around $60 BRAND NEW with the controller included. You absolutely can't beat that for a fantastic emulator-ready setup that will play anything from the 90s without skipping a beat. And additional controllers are readily available, new, on eBay as well.

Unfortunately it is no longer listed on Google Play, but you can find the APK posted on the internet to download and install. If you don't want to mess with that, another great, similar Front End that is available via Google Play is called DIG.

summary: spoiling colby for his birthday.

a/n: small amount of smut towards the end, proceed as you like.

you woke up to your alarm ringing softly in your ear. you set a quiet tone and kept the volume down to where only you could hear, as to not wake colby. you silenced it, and looked over at him. a wide smile spread across your face as you watched him sleep soundly.

you slowly and quietly got out of bed and made your way down to the kitchen. you gathered your ingredients and got started on breakfast. making each other breakfast in bed had become a tradition for yours and colby’s birthday, and it was something that you always enjoyed taking part in. of course, his were a little messier than yours, but you appreciated that he tried.

you made enough for the two of you, as well as for sam and katrina. once you finished, you made plates for you and colby to enjoy breakfast together, pouring you both glasses of orange juice as well.

you slowly made your way back upstairs and into colby’s room. you pushed the door open with your hip and found colby awake in bed.

“good morning.” he said softly when his eyes landed on you, moving to sit up in bed.

“good morning. happy birthday.” you said, sitting next to him. you leaned over and pressed a quick kiss to his lips before setting the tray in his lap.

“my favorite birthday tradition.” he said, smiling down at the tray in his lap. you laughed at him as he started eating. you sat there with him, eating your breakfast and talking about your plans for the day.

“i don’t know, i threw you a pretty big surprise party last year. im not sure how im gonna top that.” you laughed.

“im sure whatever you have planned for us is gonna be amazing.” he said, finished his food. he moved the tray to his nightstand and pulled you into his arms. “we could spend all day in bed, and i wouldn’t mind.” he said with a smirk, peppering kisses to your cheeks.

“mm, save that energy for later, my sweet boy.” you said, holding his face in your hands. you pressed a soft kiss to his lips, him smiling down at you once he pulled away.

you spent most of the day at home with each other, laying in bed and watching movies.

once dinner time rolled around, you and colby got ready to go out. you told him that you had reservations for the two of you to have dinner together.

“are we going fancy or casual?” he asked from the bedroom.

“fancy, of course. we’re celebrating.” you laughed. you pulled a dress out from your side of the closet, and picking out a perfect pair of shoes to match. you finished your hair and makeup before getting dressed, sliding your shoes on after you zipped up.

“god, you’re beautiful.” you looked up in the mirror and saw colby leaning against the door frame. you shot him a wink and put the finishing touches on your look.

“c’mon, our uber is here.” you said, taking his hand in yours.

the restaurant you had dinner at was somewhere that colby kept saying he wanted to try since he and sam had moved to vegas.

“woah, this place is even nicer than i imagined.” colby said, marveling at the entrance to the restaurant.

“happy birthday.” you said, smiling up at him. you gave the hostess your mame and she took you to your table.

throughout dinner, you watched as colby treated himself to multiple things on the menu. it made you so happy to see him enjoying himself.

after dinner, you and him stumbled out of the restaurant and waited outside for your uber back home.

“baby, thank you so much for tonight. i have no words to describe how much i enjoyed dinner, and getting to spend the evening with you.”

“you don’t have to thank me, honey. you deserve to be spoiled. its your day, and i will do everything in my power to make sure you know how loved you are.” you said, leaning up to kiss him.

“i love you.” he said softly.

“i love you.” you repeated. once you returned home, katrina and sam had a cake set up for him, and a few more drinks were had. it may not have been a huge gathering, but colby enjoyed it anyway. his best friends was all he needed.

the four of you hung out for a while before colby was ready to go upstairs. he took your hand in his, pulling you up from the couch, and led you upstairs.

“before we go to bed, i wanna give you something.” you said, moving to the dresser.

“after all that you’ve done for me tonight, i cant imagine there’s anything left.” he laughed as your fished through your sock drawer.

“just a little thing.” you said, handing him the box. it was a small chain you got for him to add to his every day jewelry.

“thank you, baby. i love it.” he said, taking it from the box and linking it around his neck. he smiled and pressed a kiss to your lips.

“do you have another gift for me under this dress?” he asked, referring to the lingerie set you bought last year for the evening.

“not this time, maybe for valentine’s day.” you said with a smirk.

“damn.” he pouted. you laughed and pushed him back on the bed, straddling his lap.

“im actually not wearing much of anything under here.” you whispered, pressing kisses to his neck.

“oh god.” he said with a moan. his lips met yours as he kissed you hard. his hands trailed down your back, stopping on your ass and squeezing tight.

you unbuttoned his shirt, working your way down his chest before reaching the top of his pants. you quickly unbuttoned them, pulling them off. your hands barley brushed over him, but he was already squirming under your touch.

the rest of the night was unlike any other that you and colby spent together. the intimacy you shared was immeasurable, the both of you reaching a new high that you never knew was possible.

“oh, baby. im so close.” you said, grinding against him.

“me too.” he groaned through gritted teeth. you braced against the head board as he lifted you up to pump into you easier. a haze filled your head as you reached your climax, trying not to scream. your breath hitched and your hips stuttered as you collapsed onto colby’s chest.

“oh, fuck.” he said loudly, releasing inside of you. he held you close as you laid there catching your breath. he gently rolled you over and pulled out, flopping down beside you.

you laid there quietly as you both returned to reality. you turned to face each other simultaneously, a small giggle falling from your lips. colby scooted closer to you, wrapping an arm around your waist, pressing kisses to your cheek, and trailing down your neck to your shoulder.

“mmm, i love you so much.” he said, resting his head on your chest.

“i love you more.” you said, running your fingers through his hair.

“thank you for the best birthday.” he said softly. just as you were going to reply, you heard him already starting to snore. you laughed to yourself and reached up to turn out the light. colby’s grip tightened around your waist as you fell asleep.

Love In the Air Ep 11 Review & Running Commentary

My previous reviews and commentary can be found here. One thing I want to talk about is that a lot of people think Pai is too persistent. We are talking about fantasy guys. MAME writes what survivors dream about. We have very high and thick walls. We are brisk and tough to the point we often feel unlovable. It will take someone persistent to get through/over the moat we have around ourselves. Remember, I threw away my husband's number away four times and only took it on the fifth. I'm not saying that the way Pai went about thing is not problematic, I'm saying that in a survivor's fantasy. He damn attractive.

So we left off with a sleep over in which Pai slept on the floor. They both stared adoringly at their palms. This series starts with Pai in his office working. His work wife might not kill him. Oh, she making a play. LOVE the look coming from work wife. Love the sound effects, yeah sorry hun. He's gone. You don't stand a chance.

Look at that bite... Oh me likes. "I suggest using the phone instead of staring at it." also "Since your mom says you've been tamed."

"Everyone acting like you are in control of me." If this is the exact wording. That some interesting turn of phrase. His smile says he doesn't care if everyone thinks that. Niiiiiice. Here we go. We are seeing Pai be persistent. Honestly if Pai is a Dom even a switch, he got some Primal in there. He enjoys this too much not to. Pai starts naming off food to Sky and sky teases him to go to Beijing. Oh don't think he won't Sky. Have you met the determined boy? Love it! "Don't dare me."

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Sky told him he wanted stewed eggs. He essentially consented to him coming over. There is a big ass crack in that wall. Hahahah! "Looks like I really am under his control. voluntarily" Lets see how things unfold but we might be dealing with a switch couple. Awwww, he staring at his palm. So is Sky! Woot! Awww, grumpy boy is upset it's fading.

Here comes dorky Rain. Love the boy but he a dork. Did he really hold that poster up to his eye?! 🤣🤣🤣 This stupid act of his!! You know damn well he knows but he over here teasing. Read my palm too! 🤣 At least I hope he is teasing... He can't be that stupid right? OH yeah Sky got some Sadist in him. Sky for sure being a Dom here and look how Rain is nodding. I love this D/s friendship soooooo much!!! At this moment, I need to take the time to apologize. I'm apologizing to the person who sent me an ASK about Sky being Dom. I laughed and was like "NO!" because I was basing my opinion on the book. To which he is not but they are clearly making this a D/s friendship in which Sky is the Dom. So he is a switch. I'm sorry! Ahh that fucking smile on his face and thanking her for spreading the news. He so conniving and proud of himself.

Aww, look at sleepy baby and Pai drove two hours for his baby. Okay, this is fucking cute. The way he cups his cheek and asks him if he got sleep. Sky being all soft. Now they are in the apartment and Sky is too tired to open the bag. Pai finding him all kinds of adorable. This man gone! Yeah ain't no saving this man, he is feeding him. And he is doing dishes. 👀👀👀 Now look at him telling him to go to bed. He is telling him, no suggestion and now guiding him to bed. More and more I'm thinking these bitches are switches. "Change your clothes first." There is no asking, it's a command. Sky easily listens and just does it. Also notice he isn't uncomfortable with Pai undressing him. He isn't sick, he is just tired but in that tired state if he didn't trust Pai this would be a trigger. "You still waited for me even though you were this sleepy." See, Pai ain't no Dummy Dummy. Sky wanted to because he knew Pai was coming and that he would have to open the door. He could have called and cancelled but he wanted to see him. Now look at him cuddling into Pai. He's sleepy but he is talking coherently. This is trust guys. Otherwise everything right here would cause some ptsd.

Ohhhh, he told Pai that his drawing on his palm is fading. Asking him what he should do. Ugh, so fucking cute. The moment Pai realizes he has got his prey at least by the tail. Oh damn, that kiss and that hand going right for skin. I'm all verklempt. OH OH OH! It was a hallucination caused by cum blockage. Clearly the desperate man is seeing mirages. So he settle for kissing his palm instead, and a face sniff. Cute! A cheek kiss and then he leaves.

I love Pai's mom! Ha! look at his brother calling him out. Drew it yourself, his ass. 🤣🤣🤣 I love how laid back Pai is. It's really what Sky needs, someone who is passionate in bed but isn't easily upset.

Oh, Damn. Sky wrong tone! Pai is gonna come racing. Aww, look at how concerned Pai is, even turning Sky around to look at him. See you guys. Pai is so laid back. He gives Sky a look, see that look on his face. He mad but there is no yelling. He doesn't do anything to startle Sky. He very calmly says " you called me here to work." Sky is like, oh shit, but I need help! Sky begins freaking out. Pai grabs both arms... ohhh this could be a trigger but nope it just gets Sky's attention. Pai's voice is slightly louder but not a yell. I never heard it get higher than Sky's own voice, more like he is pitching it to be heard. Okay, here is a Dom voice. "I don't mind you calling me here. I can come no matter how far I have to drive. But could you at least tell me? You called me and sounded like you were crying. You didn't answer your phone. Have you ever thought that I might be worried?" Takes a calming breath. "I might be a psychotic stalker in your eyes." See even he can see he is a bit much. Doesn't mean he'll stop or that we want him to. "But please understand how worried I am of you." Look at Sky, he isn't interrupting but listening. "I'm sorry." "Forget it. I could only blame myself." "P'Pai, I didn't mean to worry you. I'm sorry."

When all else fails. Kiss him. We know that works. It short circuits his brain. We see *Act A Fool* *Act A Fool* *Act A Fool* circling his head where stars should be.

He tells him sorry once again. "Don't be mad at me." Oh baby boy, don't worry. You've got this one by the balls. "Please help me. Pretty please." OMG look at him pulling the "You're cute when you smile." I fucking love Sky. Look at Sky going all soft. His walls are starting to soften. We got more than a crack now. Look at Sky getting all upset that Pai hurt himself. Oh damn Pai, I know you upset but you just upset your baby. Look at that face when you yanked your hand away. Dude, not gonna lie, this is totally how I act when I am mad. I keep a very tight control of my temper. If I get to yelling point, just run. This is much more me and this is exactly how my husband acts with much more jokes thrown in. Cause both him and the kids have figured out that if I laugh, I can't stay mad. Real quick let's talk about Sky's shirt... More than friends but less than lovers. LOVE IT!

Oh, Pai asleep in the bed without a shirt and Sky sliding in to lay next to him. Okay then. He upgrading. Inner dialogue. He doesn't want Pai to be mad at him any more. Oh damn, he really upgraded cause Sky getting close. Ahh there we go, touching. See touching is funny. If not done right it causes flash backs but if done right it can help keep them at bay.

Now that Boo boy got some sleep he is less in his feels. Tells Sky to catch some more sleep. Look how happy Sky is that his head is getting patted again. Then he drives him to school on the bike. Bet that was a pain in the ass. Sky apologizes once again.

"Let me punish you with a kiss." "Crazy." "What it's a punishment." "You think it's funny." "Wanna hear me laugh." Huge smile and then assures him that he isn't angry anymore. See, he just had to take the time to think it through. See the positives that Sky thought of him just like other students think to call their boyfriends to help with school projects. Bet Rain uses Payu. In more ways then one. "Besides the reword is worth it." "What a cheap reward." Damn see how much value he puts on himself. Sky is struggling with some serious self esteem issues. Again, this is very normal for a SA survivor. "Working all night in exchange for one kiss." "Everyone places different value on different things." "To me, you are priceless." See, he is just what Sky needs. "You can always call me when your in trouble. Explain to me first, don't scare me like yesterday." "Okay." and Sky nods. Guideline understood and heard.

So, Pai, are you okay? Are you okay, Pai? You've been hit by. You've been struck dumb by A smooth criminal. "I've received my punishment, get home safe." AHAHAHA "Can you do it one more time? I wasn't prepared!" "Just leave already!" 🤣🤣🤣

I know you are not sitting there touching your lip. You simp. Nah, I'm gonna shut up cause you deserve this. Go on then.

SEE!!!! Payu had to help Rain!!! That is what you do. You ask for help from your partner. The coconut is totally clueless to his friend because he is just as fucking gone. HAHAHA, what's wrong with you. How dare you not call Rain out, he is clearly expecting it. There are requirements in D/s friendships, when the brat is acting like a brat that's supposed to get some notice. 🤣🤣🤣 Fuck, I love these two together. "It's good you know. Now Sky over here looking moon struck. Looking at the ugly ass drawing that his boyfriend drew and smiling. You are gutting me Sky, stop but seriously these are again, very typical SA survivor thoughts. He put that drawing on the wall. Seriously he did. So cute. "Wait, I didn't do all this just to sleep with you." Look whose learned communication. Fuck boy no more. "Fine I want to do it but it's not the whole reason. I came here because I wanted to see you. I'm fine with just making out." Anybody else just fall in love with him. No just me? Okay then. "But it's nice if I could take your whole body." Okay, so a little fuck boy is still in here but HE RECOGNIZED IT! "I sound like a dick! Forget it!" "I'm not looking for just sex from you."

He's checking again. He is clearly wanting 100% consent this time, no confusion. Boy learning communication. "I'll take both your body and heart." So neither of these actors have any issues going for that nipple. Just want to point out that difference. Also that skill at unzipping those pants, yeah no it's not cause he is a boy. That's somebody who knows his way around it. Oh, this is without a doubt love making. They're both so committed to each other. "Pai, hurry up and get bored of me soon." Ohh, the getting to know you stage. I'm not judging this order. Look after I didn't throw away hubby's number, I called him for a one night stand... It's turned into the longest one night stand of my life. I love that Sky can talk to Pai about his life with a smile. You know being alone at such a young age was tough, it's gonna have effects but he looks at the positives. Pai is also connected and asking important questions.

Ahh, and the nipple piercing is brought up. You can see the sensitivity on the face but it's also not overwhelming. Remember when I talk about how touch can trigger but when done right it can help block the triggers. It can help you talk about stuff that are normally painful. It's because your grounded in the here and now. It takes being skin to skin with someone you trust, just like aftercare for a sub drop.

Ohhh, look at that though. Pai doesn't want the nipple rings put in anymore. Nothing that will remind Sky of the ex. Did your dumb ass really ask if Sky still like him? Douche Canoe. Sky tries to pull back but Pai ain't having it. "I always come across assholes." "That's not true at all. You won't come across another guy like me even if you were reborn three times." Sano & Haru:Meddling Melding

So...here's part 2. Somehow all my major moments I found could be perfectly sectioned off into 3 parts

The return of mii-kun!

Past Sano saves Haru, showing that even when not around Haru physically he still is looking out for haru.

And this is very different from what their relationship was earlier. Before I wouldn't believe Sano trying to help or save Haru because he truly wants to see him safe (maybe to not get into trouble or because Mame wants to help him).

He is the FIRST one Haru calls for help (both times!) and also the one who organizes rescuing him. Sano is the first one to get to him, the one to grab, and even lightly insults him. Sano is so afraid and worried for our pathetic boy!

Ah yes...the chapter that has my "shoujo moment".

This scene is probably my favorite scene of them in the whole manga.

The way Sano sees himself as an outcast from the others (and probably now the other gods) and looks like he trying not to crumble in front of his teacher. How haru reassures him of who he is, that he is apart of their class, their makeshift family. How haru offers a shoulder to lean on while not pushing sano to tell him more info than he's comfortable with. Sano smiling (and not trying to pretend it didn't happen!) at Haru. You can tell how at ease and relieved Sano is when he's with Haru (and admits it!). How they both trust each other with their secrets and understand that when the other will tell the rest of the class is something only they can decide on.

I love this scene (this was also the scene that made me realize that this manga was going to a part of my "manga I've read and will keep up to date cause I actually like it" list...I read a lot of random manga for the sake of read manga so that's a HIGH honor!)

☆Chapter 52｡.｡:+* ﾟ ゜ﾟ *+:｡.｡:+* ﾟ ゜ﾟ *+:｡.｡.｡:+*ﾟ

I know that this chapter isn't that remarkable but this is my post and i get to decide what dumb little moments we focus on!

To be honest ever since I first read this chapter, I haven't really understood the root of Sano's emotions here (and trust me I know this is a me problem, please someone else explain this chapter also) BUT I WILL TRY!

Sano is a bit jealous of haru intruding at first. And that seems to play a part of his overall frustrations, but i think it mainly lies with two more reasons why.

1-Haru is getting treated like a dangerous madman by the other teacher. He is annoyed at this and from the context of the previous chapters it probably is because he, and many others, don't. Class 2-3 treats Haru generally like a normal teacher, maybe a bit more (a lot more actually) familiar than most people would but still! Sano also knows and has spent so much one on one time with Haru that he understand that any worries are not really valid. He knows who haru is and he decided that to him he isn't a bad guy. He knows how much Haru wants to be treated normal and not like an outcast. He, even up to chapter more current chapters I say, knows the most about Haru. Not even just about his past, the seimei situation, but also about stuff that only applies to Haru.

(and in the next chapter I talk about, he actually shows that he doesn't like people thinking bad about Haru when they don't even get to know him. Very "if you're gonna dislike Haru at least dislike him for real reasons and not because iof misunderstandings cause you didn't try to understand him")

And 2- He seems upset at the effect that Haru has over him. Haru has this aura that makes Sano feel so relaxed around him that has been growing along side their relationship. The manga really shows that when Sano opens up to Haru he acts more like a regular goofy awkward teen and less like a cool guy that only gets involved when he has to, something he most likely pick up after transferring to our favorite little youkai school.

He is annoyed by this (maybe because he doesn't have the same effect to Haru?). Annoyed that Haru just so purely cares about him being his best. That Haru can do this so effortlessly and genuinely it effects him. That it reminds him of what his brother used to be like...Or maybe he (and me) dont know why he feels this way!

For haru's part, he wants to see Sano being his best self and trying hard! He believes in him and knows that Sano can do better! And he wants to push Sano, and all his students, to succeed and be their best. If he has to compete against them or cheer them on, then he will do it!

(I chose this chapter/scene instead of 53 because that moment felt more about Sano distancing himself from his brother than his relationship with Haru.)

Like I previously stated, He doesn't like when others treat Haru badly, or like an outcast, when they don't even know Haru.

When he gets to Haru, he takes charge of situation. He the one that get him to open up to why he under the desk ( DEJECTED-AKI!?!?!?! THEY HAVE A DESIGNATED NAME FOR THIS?!?!?!). He's the one who gets him out, though by force. He even kinda references to chapter 52 with how he know that Haru doesn't need to be babied. He sees Haru for what he is, an amazing teacher who works hard to all his students can achieve their goals.

And he tells this to him! Sano us now so open to Haru. Before he would go full tsundere about how he sees Haru as a great teacher, dismissing and lying about it. But now he embarrassingly tells him to his face. He throws the words that he use to comfort Sano when he was feeling down about himself back at Haru.

He see Haru as someone who doesn't need to be coddled, not because he's loser adult (ok, maybe a bit because of that), but because Sano has seen how far Haru has come and believes and knows he is also a great person.

Now to end this part on a more light hearted note, Haru and Sano hugs! Haru initiates most of the hugs between the to of them, but sano has been slowly started to get more comfortable with them. First chapter to this chapter Sano has started to allow Haru to full on hug him with backlash. I just thought that it was a neat observation.

So. I’m watching “the theory of love” and I have two things to ask

1. Does anyone actually like Kai? He doesn’t seem to care about Threees feelings at all or about his actions.

2. EARTH IS ON THIS!!?!!???? I stupidly have been waiting for Mix to turn up but obviously this was Pre?

3. Gun never gets a rear does he. Poor guy has to cry in every show he does.

But first, Khai and Third are IKEA Queers, so . . .

Me. I like Khai. We are IKEA Queers, so we have to stick together.

Feel free to judge me, but after episode six, watching him suffer was food for my petty soul. This is what I want from my pendejos. If they are going to fuck up as badly as Khai did (THE FAKE-DRUNK KISS!), then I want them to feel pain. A lot of it. All the time. No relief.

And Khai definitely felt it.

The idiot would not take no for an answer (but that's a JittiRain special), yet Third gave him back all the pain he gave to him, and that's what I like to see - revenge. Even in the special, Third was still kind of a jerk to Khai, and was looking even better for it.

I would never believe they would make it beyond this show (even with the four year time skip), but JittiRain said they are still together and going strong in Vice Versa with "RELATIONSHIP" right above Third's head, so . . . good for them?

Earth and Fluke had Until We Meet Again while Gun and First had Not Me, and those are both top-tier shows for most people. Imagine all four in one show, just crying, destroying our hearts every week. However, I'm going to put this on the record right now though - - First can outcry them all. I believe this with every fiber of my being. A director would just have to say "Khaotung doesn't want to be your friend anymore" and GAME OVER!

The wildest thing to me is Earth played Type in Love by Chance which means he was Type of TharnType before the role was recast. Can you image Phupha as Type?! I have never watched a MAME series, but this seems WILD to me.

And Earth was paired with New in Water Boyy, like New of TayNew.

And of course, we got that taste of him with Papang in Moonlight Chicken.

So I think it's strange that Earth has worked with Mix several times when the behind-the-scenes for A Tale of Thousand Stars seemed as if director Aof was ready to murder Earth because he was playing around between takes, while Mix was crying every two seconds from stress and anxiety (which caused him to pass out). Mostly when White was RIGHT THERE!

Please, GMMTV, keep mixing things up forever and ever. Amen.

I watched it when it aired and haven't rewatched it since, so I don't remember if there was color-coding, but from my saved pictures, it seems like I had a theory that Third was a Yellow/Orange Oddity

but I have no notes, and the other pictures aren't telling me a complete story, so I think I got upset watching it and stopped tracking the colors. I stay petty.

I'd have to go back and rewatch it to give you a proper answer BUT I won't do that if JittiRain screws me over for the sixth time with Be My Favorite. So I'll make a deal with you, Anon - If Be My Favorite doesn't give me lies, manipulation, and the normal JittiRain (JR) nonsense to the extent her other series have included, I'll go back and rewatch Theory of Love for potential color coding.

But if JR fucks over my baby boy Pisaeng, not even the IKEA Queers can save this color-coding mission.

Ongoing Series - Thai

Laws of Attraction (Sat iQIYI) 8fin - Oh the DRAMA. Why does the insane ex (my true love) remind me of the cartel leader from Romancing the Stone? Even the sides got HEA! It was fucking great!!!!! Charn remains a bonkers spoiled evil murderous brat with a cruel smile beloved by his one true paladin. Also: post it love note trope! Been a long while my old friend. NO SINGING!!!!! I do love that wedding jacket frock coat cape thing Charn wore. 

In conclusion: This is a great gay suspense thriller with several solid couples, fun plot, killer characters, queer rep, and a happy ending. Charn may be my favorite lead character of 2023. However, this show is not entirely BL, more on the fringe, like Manner of Death. Add that to several "singing incidents" and pairs being a little weak in the chemistry arena, and this lands safely in 9/10 territory. It’s tons of fun tho: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. 

I Feel You Linger in the Air (Sat grey) ep 3 of 12 - This show is getting more and more lakorn each ep. Apparently the straights are having a class divide arranged marriage crisis. Who cares? Our boy is ALWAYS in trouble. Crazy that he has to save the people who betrayed him in a previous life - but I guess he chose revenge! That's unexpected.

Had to switch to grey and couldn’t find a working rip. It was frustrating and I wouldn’t have bothered except I like this show so much. Still, it means no screen caps because the rez is naff.

Dangerous Romance (Fri YT) ep 3 of 12 - Uh oh. Kang wants to save Sailom and be his hero. The fact that K’s Pa puts no pressure on him whatsoever, makes me wonder if K's Ma committed suicide or something? It’s definitely the opposite parental dynamic we normally see in BL. I have to say, the pacing is great in the show. And the acting is on point. It’s really great. 

Hidden Agenda (Sun YT) ep 8 of 12 - these two just kiss well. I mean not "rip your clothes off Taiwan-style," but sweet young boyfriends-esk. Joke wants to be claimed so bad. It’s great. I enjoyed this ep, unfortunately it looks like we have a manufactured angst drama drop in the next episode. Is this a 10 episode arc? I thought it was 12. It’s odd to have doom happening next episode already.

Only Friends (Sat YT) ep 4 of 10 - Back story time! Ray and Mew are HARD to watch. Incestuous friend group gay is the worst. Omg I got such QAF vibes from this ep. Nick Boston Sand chats = very throw back 90s gay soaps. 

Location game moment: Top's hotel room is also Chan’s apartment in Laws Of Attraction. 

Naughty Babe (Sat YT) ep 1 of 8 - Ooo. Est is back! Hi handsome. Head of security suits you. Please lead out the new Waterboyy remake? You’re perfect for the role. (If it must happen.) Yi’s Pa is GREAT. Please give daddy a nice boy? Could that be our secondary couple for this series? 

Meanwhile, with the leads (sorry I was distracted by daddy) we got us an arranged marriage, run away bride, and an amnesia trope. Put in a secret baby and it's squarely 1980's Harlequin. Will there be Vikings? Sex herbs? Pirates? Dub con?

Be Mine Super Star (Mon Viki) ep 9 of 12 - Again with lovely sex scenes, it’s just the plot stringing them together is frayed. Also don’t fuck in an onsen. Both yech and ouch.

That goes for all y’all.  

Wedding Plan (Wed YT & iQIYI) ep 7fin - Trash watch here! Honestly this was an okay ending, I’m not mad at it. If you can tolerate Mame and liars (kinda the same thing) you’ll be fine with this show.

Summation: An innocent wedding planner falls haplessly and hopelessly in love with a groom who relentlessly pursued him, even though he’s about to marry someone else. A somewhat lackluster mame offering with less of the usual stellar chemistry, but all of the usual lies and manipulation. 7/10

Love in Translation (Sat iQIYI) ep 3 of 10 - I skip everything to do with Tammy and it’s fine. There’s only about 20 minutes of fine but that’s more than enough. On the bright side. So far. No singing.

My Universe (Sun iQIYI) ep 2 of 24 eps - Cassanova Begins Part 2. Aw. It was sad. Another variation on the “my ghost boyfriend” trope (usually sad). 2/10 I don't do sad BL.

Next up is Merry Go Round featuring the pair from Destiny Seeker (we likey) who want to marry each other, but end up fake engaged to the same woman. Beard squared? Looks silly.

Crazy Handsome Rich (Sun Gaga) ep 1 of 10 - There are 2 things I like about this. I bet you can guess what they are.

The 2 leads fucking around in the end credits was the funniest part of the whole show. 

Ongoing Series - Not Thai

Jun & Jun (Korea Thur Viki) ep 7 of 8 - I am confused and frustrated about what the communication delay is between the two Juns. It feels artificial and narratively manufactured. But since this is a short form KBL and I know it will be resolved quickly, I’m not as annoyed as I would be if this were Thai BL. Still it feels audience manipulative. I also feel sorry for Simon. BUT it looks like it’ll be a sweet boyfriends final episode.

Stay By My Side (Taiwan Fri Gaga) ep 10fin - Omg they’re so cute!!! Taiwan the purveyors of ultimate sappy gay domesticity. I am going to miss having these to nonsencing all over my dash.

This show was an interesting take on the "ghost boyfriend" trope. About a boy who is tormented by hearing the dead, except when he is around one other boy - desperation+proximity = love. Unfortunately, the story was erratic and waffled about. While the leads turned in solid performances and the sappy domesticity was off the charts, it never really had the strength of the narrative convictions such a strong concept should have supplied. Highly rewatchable and enjoyable for that sappy domesticity but not a whole lot more. Still I always give extra credit for the diabetes-inducing sugar content and rewatch capacity. 8/10 

Kisseki: Dear to Me (Taiwan Tues Viki & iQIYI) eps 3 of 13(?) - I love the punching thing - there is a lot of violent flirting in this show. I’m not mad about it. Ugh, poor thing has real abandonment issues. And now trust issues. I see why we’re getting 12-14 eps. This gonna be MESSY.

Meanwhile, does EVERYONE have a guest cameo? Not that I’m complaining. Hi BLIHID boys! Now I need to rewatch that show. 

Love Class Season 2 (Korea Fri Viki) eps 7-8 of 10 - Oh my God the next morning w/ couple 2 was so darn cute. They are all such terrible flirts with each other. Honestly, this show makes me laugh more than any other BL currently airing. I’m not sure it is meant to be as funny as I find it. While couple 3 (the mature characters) is by far my favorite, I actually think they don’t work with the other two pairs, they feel superfluous to the show. I like the show better because they’re in it, but it feels like two different BL‘s stuck together. KBL certainly can’t handle more than two couple threads at the same time. 

Why R U? (Korea Wed iQIYI) eps 3-4 of 8 - Ugh. I am such a sucker for the FighterTutor dynamic. Why so good? Uh oh. Real kiss! KBL you're spoiling us. But, isn’t sad-seme-hyung dating some chick? Argh. Poor Sunwoo. This show is even worse at repping Fighter's character sympathetically. Who knew that was possible?

My Personal Weatherman AKA Taikan Yoho (Japan Sat Gaga) ep 3 of 8 - The date episode! Even Japan is doing it now. And these two who have been living/fucking together for ages still dance around each other like junior high kids. I gotta say, I watch this one twice because Vicki has different subs from Gaga. I feel like it’s easier to understand if I watch two different translations of the same script. But it’s still quite a taciturn piece. 

Minato's Laundromat Season 2 AKA Minato Shouji Coin Laundry Season 2 (Japan Thu Gaga) ep 8 of 12 - Sides are great. It was mostly a cute ep with tiny bits of Progress and a proper Confession. I miss Shin’s siblings. And then… the much loathed amnesia trope. Really?

Everyone say it with me: Must you, Japan? 

Stay Still (Hong Kong Tues YouTube) ep 5fin - It ended happier than I was expecting. Optimistic for one couple, and most likely optimistic for the other.

Summation: What to say about this offering from Hong Kong? It’s different, a mix of early CBL, Taiwanese shorts, and Pinoy visuals. It felt like the story was 2 independent shorts that had been lengthen and then stuck together, and I wish they'd been approached as separate and tighter entities. Nevertheless, this was a complex little piece,  interesting in a sweaty grungy way, with a certain aura of queer authenticity that made it simultaneously tense, unpredictable, and refreshing. I’m not sure I would necessarily call it BL, but any county’s early foray into the genre usually starts out this way, so perhaps nascent BL? Worth watching, especially if you enjoy stuff from the Philippines and Taiwan. 7/10

In case you missed it

Dinosaur Love ended its run but the final 2 eps are behind a paywall. Word on the street is they aren't good anyway (shocker) so I'm marking it as DNF and moving on with my life. If I can find em grey I'll watch 'em merely so I can give it a rating, but I can't imagine it will get more than 5/10. Seriously, do not bother.

They’ve been auditioning for this since Libido IMHO. You can watch me chronicle their BL MV series in this post. It’s from Idol Romance who will do sad but can do good kisses (Wish You, Nobleman Ryu, Once Again, Kissable Lips, Poongduck 304, Tasty Florida, Tinted With You).

9/26 I Cannot Reach You AKA I Can't Reach You AKA Kimi ni wa Todokanai (Japan ????) - Adapted from the manga, childhood best friends: The cool, smart one who’s good at everything, and his average, dorky friend who struggles. Always by the other’s side, but not together in the way they truly want to be. No matter how hard they try, their hearts cannot reach each other.

9/27 Absolute Zero (Thai iQIYI) - from 2021, Studio Wabi Sabi and New Siwaj finally bring us this “time loop to prevent tragedy” romance. We don’t always get HEAs from them, so I'm on my guard.

Now that I’m a couple weeks back from my huge overseas trip, I’m very much back into my Old GMMTV Challenge Project (which, admittedly, has expanded WELL beyond the original three classic BLs that @absolutebl recommended to watch way back, when many of us were talking about old BL frameworks and tropes earlier this year!). Here’s an update:

1) The end of Love Sick Season 2 is incredibly near, and while, yes, there are many problematic factors to this show -- I think the show’s SHEER LENGTH allowed it to do a LOT with the characters and script that I’m frankly surprised by. It’s delved into allyship, into sexual exploration and revelation (on all the ends of the spectrum), into all the interesting shades of acceptance and casual homophobia among a group of teenage men, and now I see at the end of the show that we’ll (hopefully) get an exploration into acceptance of queer relationships by families, which is always my jam. 

I’ll save most of this for my post-watch analytical write-up, but I think for at least this show, to explore EVERYTHING the script got into -- the show needed this length. The writing wasn’t crisp and concise enough to really dig into things à la this wonderful era of GMMTV writing that we’re in NOW. But, I AM surprised by how far this script has gone without being ENTIRELY, 100% problematic. It’s a really good and fascinating watch, and I’m glad I dug into it for the history.

2) Next up will be Make It Right and Make It Right 2, which I originally thought would be my vehicle for learning more about the early high school pulps and getting familiar with pre-GMMTV Ohm Pawat. But I’ve also now been convinced by the wonderful @bengiyo to delve specifically into the works of the prolific New Siwaj, to learn about his focus on the queer male experience, and how he either successfully (or unsuccessfully) (or both, simultaneously) gets his messages across. I haven’t been watching his current works (Between Us, ABAAB), but surprisingly -- he’s a screenwriter on Double Savage, which for now seems very het. But now I wouldn’t be surprised if, à la 10 Years Ticket, we get a queer storyline in the show at some point. 

3) Speaking of Double Savage (which I am seriously enjoying -- I already highly recommend it), I’m watching Perth Tanapon for the first time (I didn’t watch Never Let Me Go, and I’m not sure that I will, yet, unless finishing out Double Savage makes me get into a Perth rabbithole). But anyway, I know that Dangerous Romance with PerthChimon is on its way, so I figured -- if Perth is paired with Ohm as brothers in DS -- that I should know about early PerthSaint, as Perth and Ohm had almost the same exact trajectory into GMMTV from their very youthful years in BL.

With that, and considering the new New Siwaj focus: I’m going to add Love By Chance to the list. (But I’m NOT adding the second season.) And it’ll be my first MAME show, and likely something that I feel like I SHOULD watch before watching TharnType later this year.

4) So here’s my newly jujjed list, and I’m fixing some errors for chronology here as well from past lists. I think with what I’ve watched so far -- Bad Buddy, ATOTS, The Eclipse, KinnPorsche, and Moonlight Chicken -- that I’ve already filled holes in this chronology, but I think this list gets me straight on the history I need to know.

My Weekly Roundup CW 29

This week was full of drama, people disappearing from other people's lives, evil antagonists, good acting and a lot of good communication. I loved so much about this weeks episodes and before I'll start, let me tell you "Team Roommates for the win!".

And yes, this will contain spoilers!

→ 1. Be My Favorite (Ep 9)

Okay, so not quite as much fluff as I had hoped for, but it was enough for me in the end. I thought the conversations were very well done again and a drunken pisaeng is just ADORABLE!

Kawi is on his way to finally understand that he can't save every future. He needs to have faith in people to go their own way. It is not in his hands that other people won't make mistakes and have no regrets. He will continue to make mistakes himself, but he can try to be the best version of himself to be there for the people he cares about. He won't protect them from getting hurt though, but he can be there for them, catching them before they fall so they can go off and make other mistakes. But it's not up to him to make the decisions about what makes a person happy and what doesn't. And I love that he has Pisaeng as a partner by his side, that he also clearly told him he wants to be able to see them both as equals so that Pisaeng's money doesn't create a power imbalance and I love it so much! I love their communication so much 😭 I hope Paer can work things out with her mom and maybe talk to her dad. Kwan and Paer both desperately need to realize their own worth and just keep their hands off Not. He should end up reap the fruits of being an asshole in the end. Please let an asshole character just be an asshole for once.

☼ 2. Wedding Plan (Ep 1)

I vibe this series so much! Oh my god! I saw the trailer and knew this series was going to captivate me. I'm into this forbidden love. Nuea is my spirtit animal! I find his love for food and dislike for gyms very relatable. I knew it wasn't going to be a classic cheating story, but am still a bit confused by how active Yiwa is in helping Lom flirt with Nuea. I'm definitely curious to see what exactly is behind the two of them and their marriage, and if a wedding between Nuea and Lom will happen in the end. That the visuals will be good in a Mame series is kind of a law, so I'm not surprised by the cast, but this birthmark on Lom's nose has a certain effect on me that I didn't know was possible. I mean look at him!

Normally I'm always a little restrained in the first episode of series, but here I'm just on fire and I apparently have to make that known, otherwise it eats me up inside 😅 I find it funny to see how he majority on here went off on PrapaiSky's wedding, and every little piece of them and PayuRain was giffed and I couldn't care less. But I am very happy to see a gay wedding! So yeah, I can't wait for the next episode! But the subtitles really are something else on iQiyi!

But you would definitely be famous for having a crush on a broom!

↑ 3. Stay With Me (Ep 9-12)

Oh man, so much has happened. First Su Yu and Wu Bi move in together, because Su Yu's dad got married and now has a new family, so to speak, in which Su Yu doesn't want to force himself in. And he wishes so much it was different, but after the mother has found a new family and the father has now also remarried, it has once again become clear to him that he also wants someone whose love is just for him and that he doesn't have to share with anyone 😭 And Wu Bi sits there and just looks at him with these puppy dog eyes and holds him by the arm - there is this person, you just have to finally admit it to yourself too. Yes, and then we see moments where Su Yu uses Wu Bi's butt as a pillow and they're bickering together and their apartment is so wonderfully colorful and lovingly decorated and welcoming and just beautiful and I'm floating through all the seventh clouds...

... and then along comes the evil ex who isn't actually an ex but acts like she is and tries to get in between Wu Bi and Su Yu and apparently she's somewhat successful at it and my gosh, what a pain in the ass that person is! I can't stand her. Great actress but such a crappy character. I hope Su Yu sees through her lies and obvious attempt to drive a wedge between them. Let her just run off with the cousin again and never come back! Surely she should realize that Su Yu doesn't like her anymore and that he is indeed Wu Bi's.

This is frustrating. I want to have Friday and be able to continue watching 😅

↓ 4. Tokyo In April Is... (Ep 6)

For a short moment I really thought that Ren was lying unconscious or knocked out by some drug in Sanada's bed at the end. I got hot and cold for a moment. Fortunately he wasn't. My heart would not have survived that after the episode. So Ren has disappeared again and Kazuma sits alone in the cold and dark apartment, thinking about all the beautiful memories he had made with Ren during the past weeks.

The only thing missing was that he would have grabbed one of Ren's t-shirts and curled up on the bed sniffing it. Then I would have done the same with a box of tissues here. Not that I didn't know that would happen, but still, it hurts. And then to watch Ren break down while Kazuma was waiting for him at home... The series keeps on hurting really good!

↑ 5. Hidden Agenda (EP 3)

Okay, I admit it, I'm starting to get hooked on the series. I love Joke. And I love that he could go on dates with Zo without having to reveal himself. Slowly, though, he's realizing that he might have a chance after all and is really putting himself out there now. Sometimes I'm a very simple girl: give me nice music, a library, intense eye contact, and a pinky that finds the courage to make first contact and you'll find me melting on the floor, squealing blissfully.

The fact that Zo is also starting to realize that he should get to know another person first, and most importantly get to know yourself in order to know if you like a person, I think is so sweet. And the heart racing he definitely has... with Joke... This is a happy-go-lucky series right now.

↓ 6. Minato Shouji Coin Laundry Season 2 (Ep 3)

Minato and Shin now live together, but of course they don't share a room, which is a bit frustrating for Shin. Minato, however, is starting to come out of his shell a bit. So he asks Shin if they want to go to the festival together and let him dress him. And this boy is whipped!

On the beach, he takes Shin's hand, only to pull back in fright when other people come running to the beach. There are two generations that collide in Shin and Minato. Shin is proud of his love and wants to show that they both belong together. He is not afraid of the world because he has not experienced any negative experience because of his sexuality yet. He experiences the world from a not-so-conservative lens, especially since his parents have agreed to let him live with Minato until the apartment is renovated. Minato has grown up in a more conservative world and has always hidden away until now. He is slowly letting himself be carried away by Shin, but it takes time. Such a learned behavior, and especially mindset, can't be changed overnight. And I find the process very exciting right now. It's nice to watch the two of them take care of each other and grow together.

☼ 7. Jun & Jun (Ep 1)

Childhood friends who lost touch and now find their way back to each other paired with office romance? Bring it on! It was really hard for me to watch at the beginning. My threshold for embarrassment is very low and all the action until they arrived at the office caused me some pain. I hope from the next episode it will be a little more pleasant. The first impression is still positive. I'm curious to see how the story develops, why they lost track of each other and if it will end up being a feel-good story like Our Dating Sim. One can still hope. What I can say is that the visuals are definitely appealing.

↓ 8. Low Frequency (Ep 3)

So something happened. The acting wasn't as bad as it had been one episode before. We learned that ghosts can do things if Mon lets them, at least Thames. And they can touch each other now, which led to a very strange and totally out of context scene where they touch hands, illuminated by sunlight, and it almost comes to a kiss. So yes, the setting was nice, but the scene itself was a bit oddly placed. What else happened? Thames remembers something more to the accident and is jealous. There are a few who come up as potential suspects and other than that, very little else happened for an astonishing 40 minutes. Or I just forgot all about it already....

→ 9. Dinosaur Love (Ep 5)

What do they all think is so great about cotton-candy-ball? He's a snoozer who looks like his mind is on a trip abroad and no one knows when it's coming back. And Dino... I mean, there are really intense series with jealous and toxic characters, but he's really the crowning glory of them all. The worst thing is that he reminds me of one of my exes. I think he was jealous of my bedspread itself... And that's how Dino acts... It's no excuse for obsessively possessive behavior that you like the person. The way I screamed at my screen how much I hate this! And what are these scenes? I don't have to spend five minutes watching Dino play a mobile game and talk to his buddies while cotton-candy-ball sits next to him grinning stupidly. Never thought the biggest enemy in this series was the fact that Dino is the SOTUS president and SOTUS members aren't allowed to date freshmen or be friends with them! Will they still get together? I guess we'll see next week or sometime in August... It's getting tiring, but maybe I just wasn't in the right mood for it today. Maybe the title is that way because it's outdated stereotypes that act as the main roles here?

Fahlanruk Ep 1 Stray Thoughts

I am now up to 14 shows this week. Pray for me. I hope friends with benefits doesn't let me down. It's one of my favorite premises.

Okay, so I was totally chill about this hookup scene until they implied that Sherbet performed felattio only to show Fahlan taking off his pants that were totally zipped up. Please don't take me out of your opening sex scene!! (Edit: they were having sex with different people and it was cross cut. I just didn't recognize it)

I hope the friend/fan group thing won't be ever present.

Ah, good. Fahlan and Sherbet both felt a connection.

A Date With Quackity

Time: 5:34 PM

I sat on a bench, waiting for Quackity to show up. We had scheduled a date together. And if I was completely honest, I was freaking out from how nervous I was. I just pray I don't embarrass myself. I look down at my phone, checking the messages between us. I smile at them, giggling a bit at how silly they are.

I look up as I watch the sky and the white clouds. I close my eyes for a bit, feeling the breeze. "HOLA!" I jump in my seat as I look to my left, seeing Quackity smiling at me. Smirking from how he just scared me. "You scared me!" I stand up as I go up to him. He laughed as he walked over.

"I couldn't help it, you were in your aesthetic moment, I had to ruin it." He shrugged with a smirk as I push his shoulder with a smile. We begin walking, side by side. "So, where should we go first?" I asked him, people walked around us and cars zoomed by.

Quackity hums as he thinks for a second, I watch him as he moves behind me and shows up to my left. He pushes me over gently. Taking my spot on the left. "Why don't we go to the pier?" He asked, pointing to the pier. I nodded my head. "Sure."

We walk over, the sounds of seagulls, people talking, music from stands playing. I could see some bubbles floating in the air from a nearby person who was showing off bubble shows. I smile as I see the bubbles float by. I turn to Quackity, who was looking at me but quickly looked away. "Ahem, do you want to go to the end of the pier?"

I looked towards the end of the pier, as we continued walking. I nodded. I take my phone out as I slow down a bit. Letting him walk ahead a bit. I put the phone up, he didn't seem to notice I slowed down. "Quackity!" I call out to him, he turns around and I snap a picture.

I smiled as I save the picture as I hurry to his side, showing him the picture. "Mira que bonito te ves." (Look how pretty you look.) I smiled at him, he looked at the picture and laughed a little. "What can I say, a little aesthetic moment no?" He spoke in a British accent as I laugh. We continued walking towards the end of the pier.

"Oh wow, it looks pretty." I rush over to the edge, gripping the pier fence. I look out. Watching the waves, listening to the water splash around. The small breeze going by. It felt really nice. "Yeah, I mean I suppose."

I look over to Quackity. I smile, I take my phone again. "Let's take a picture!" I pull my phone up, as I hold him by the shoulder, bringing him in. He seemed shocked before smiling, looking at the camera. I snap some pictures. I look at them and smile.

"Oh! Look there's a photobooth!" I grab his hand in mine, rushing over to the photobooth. I quickly pull us inside, as the curtain closes. I quickly insert some cash. The camera starts a count down. "POSE WITH ME!" I yell out happily. Posing dramatically. Quackity laughs as he poses dramatically as well.

We take more photos, some silly and some serious. But then for the last one, I was pulled in suddenly. Quackity kissing my cheek as my eyes widen, the picture snaps and he pulls away. Laughing, his cheeks red as well. "Oh my gosh! You look so red!" He points at me, I look at him embarrassed as I push him out of the way, getting out of the photobooth.

I take the pictures outside as I start to walk away. Pouting he had pointed out how red I was. I could hear him rushing after me, laughing a little. "Noo! I didn't mean to make you mad! PLEASE." He comes up in front of me, trying to make me forgive him. I try to stay mad as he kept apologizing, but I couldn't hold it back. I laugh as he looks at me. "Oh man, you're so cute Big Q."

I take his hand in mine, walking over to a shop. "No mames, look at those goofy ass glasses." He walks over to a glasses section, taking them in his hands as he puts them on. They were glasses with lenses like goggles but they were so big. I laugh at him as I take some that have a mustache on them and put them on. We both laugh at how dumb we look.

We mess around the shop, putting one things and making each other laugh. We left with some items in our hands, walking over to a ice cream stand. He grabbed some vanilla ice cream and I just got a random one. We sat together at a table for 2. I face him as I take a bite of my ice cream. We sit together for a bit, just enjoying the moment.

I put my spoon down as I reach into the bag I got from the store. I then pull out an item I had gotten in secret for him. "Can you close your eyes for me?" I asked him, he raised an eyebrow at me in question. "What for? You gonna kiss me or something?" He joked around as I rolled my eyes. "No, just close your eyes."

He listens and closes his eyes, I lean forward, putting the pin on his shirt. I leaned back smiling, "Okay, you can open your eyes!" I see him look down at his shirt. Then he smiles and looks at me. "No way you got me a duck pin."

I laugh as I look at the pin, it was a duck with a mushroom hat on it. I nodded, "You know I needed to. It's your image." I smiled as he looked at me. "I didn't get you anything though." He frowned a bit, I shook my head. "Don't worry about it, I don't need anything other seeing you happy."

His cheeks blushed up as I giggled. I had just rizzed him up. "Okay you sneaky rabbit." I laugh at his joke of an insult. We finished our ice creams and just decided to walk around after. Now we stand back at the fence of the pier, watching the sun slowly go down. The breeze blowing gently.

Suddenly, I felt warmth in my hand, I look down and see a hand intertwined with mine. I look up to Quackity who was looking away but smiling. I smile at him. He looked over, "What?" He asked, he stared at me, squinting his eyes.

"Nothing, I just think you're cute." I smiled at him, turning to look back at the sunset. I squeeze his hand a little, I could feel him caress my hand with his thumb. "You know what, fuck it!"

I turned to look at him confused why he was saying that. He turned to me, pulling me in by the shoulders, he twirled me down as he leaned in and kisses my lips. My eyes were wide as my heart raced. The music almost seemed to muffle, the wind picked up and bubbles flew in the air. The sun set in the background as we both shared a kiss.

I don't know how anyone thought that was okay i literally saw someone here say "sky totally enjoyed that even if he felt shitty later " LIKE HELLO excuse me it is a deeply upsetting scenario and traumatic, he was literally emotionally pressured and manipulated he was acting on instinct to save his life he did not enjoy it . He did not give consent, prapai literally made it very clear either sky has sex with him or be left alone to the guards in an unknown shady place so sky did the one thing that could save him and sorry no that's not consent.

B) the way prapai pursued sky : Don't even get me started on that like apart from the flowers all the other stuff prapai did was TRASH calling sky from an unknown number being creepy , saying sexually suggestive things even when sky has made it abundantly clear he is not enjoying it and then the worst of all coming to his college and pressuring him AGAIN by blackmail so that sky comes with him in his car like nah bro that's not romantic that's traumatising. And he called sky rude the audacity he is the one stalking and being creepy but sky is rude stfup.

Sky my darling sky just ... I feel so bad for him he breaks my heart i just want to hug him in a blanket and tell him he is amazing. Sky is a character that should've been in the world of Alice oseman but somehow with a twisted unfortunate luck of fate he ended up in the world of mame .

Listen i am not policing ( it's not my place anyone can enjoy whatever they want ) and saying you shouldn't enjoy love in the air hell i myself enjoy love in the air but don't try to justify your enjoyment with false narratives okay just tell it as it is . When some of you say prapai is romantic you are insulting victims who have been "sky" once in their lives and you are also insulting actual romantics who are doing it right ( eg : someone like Lee junho from eaw , sky , nuea and intouch from scoy the series, Nick Nelson from heart stopper and many more) . I am sick and tired of this trend of defending toxic characters , saw exact stuff happen during kinnporsche and now with lita . I love kinnporsche but am i gonna justify it hell no that was wrong and the series itself acknowledged it . Do i like and enjoy prapai×sky hell yes i do i watched lita only because of them cus the actors have chemistry and i am here for it . But that is not my fantasy of ideal romance i would not wish that to happen even to my worst enemy cus i have been in sky's position and it hurts and make you feel pathetic. My problem is how they are glossing over this atleast kinnporsche showed how the victims felt and it didn't gloss over it but lita my god it is literally portraying sky as just a person with insecurities and not an actual person who is a SA survivor ( i read the novel and it hurts more knowing ) and prapai as the love of his life whose gonna "fix him " which is sooo enraging cus sky don't need any fixing whatsoever the only person who needs fixing and repentance is prapai but i know for sure i won't get either . And yes this is mame i knew what i was getting myself into but some of y'all reactions are disgusting. The amount of posts i have seen gaslighting sky and rain and worshipping payu and prapai is INSANE ( no payu and rain are not dom and sub atleast not what happened in the bathroom stall that was sexual assault plain and clear but i don't have the patience for that argument all I'll say BDSM relationships happens with full consent from all the parties involved) . Enjoying problematic media is fine but don't gloss over the problematic part please 🙏 . I enjoy lita i like both the couples and their dynamics but i am fully aware that's trash and i am okay with it cus i can separate fact and fiction unlike some people here .

Sano & Haru:Reluctant Respect

HELLO FELLOW YOHAJI LOSERS - I MEAN LOVERS!!! (I say this affectionately)

I said I was gonna make a whole thing about Haru and Sano's relationship and now i have...made a part 1 that is (i am slowly going insane i swear to-)

Anyway~ Here is my "short" deep dive/retrospective into my favorite (platonic or romantic) relationship in the manga (Chapters 1-30)

☆Chapter 1 ｡.｡:+* ﾟ ゜ﾟ *+:｡.｡:+* ﾟ ゜ﾟ *+:｡.｡.｡:+*ﾟ

Let's start at the beginning shall we?

Sano is shown throughout this chapter to be reluctantly getting involved with Haru. He is trying, and succeeding, to come off as a generally cool and chill guy, for the most part. He doesn't snap at Haru as fast as he will in just a couple of chapters later, but he does lash out when he is at his breaking point.

He is also the first one to know Haru's secret, making his relationship with Haru much different than every other character in the manga (he is his student but also his confidant. The only person that can help him keep his powers a secret while teaching. And, to get a bit ahead of myself, also the one who probably has the closest relationship with him for a while).

For Haru's part, he really is just grasping at anyone willing to be around him. With what his high school experience was like, with Ame and his fears, that he hasn't had anyone outside his family that treated him 'safe' way. Even the other teachers are weary of him for the most part.

Haru's optimistic outlook is only strengthened because Sano's, though it's not at it's most potent version, kindness towards our wet paper towel man.

☆Chapter 9｡.｡:+* ﾟ ゜ﾟ *+:｡.｡:+* ﾟ ゜ﾟ *+:｡.｡.｡:+*ﾟ

Up till this point Sano still seen Haru as a nuisance and a new chew toy, but this is is the first time he really has taken the steps to show his tsundere side. Sure, he feels like after his short but still vulnerable moment with Haru he is in debt with him. BUT , he still goes out of his way to talk up Haru to Ame! Haru isn't around and he still goes out of his way to show that he has a soft spot for Haru. Still very tsundere but still.

☆Chapter 16｡.｡:+* ﾟ ゜ﾟ *+:｡.｡:+* ﾟ ゜ﾟ *+:｡.｡.｡:+*ﾟ

The notable event in their relationship! After Sano saves Haru from being crushed only to be crushed himself, It kinda feels like a side of haru is shown (at least when I was reading). This chapter, this arc, really shows that haru cares about his students, about Sano. Not even batting an eye he gets Sano to a doctor as fast as he can, not caring about anything around him.

And When Haru replaces Sano and he hits a road block, Sano doesn't use his anti-youkai powers in the race. He understands Haru. He knows Haru wouldn't want that, want this to be when the class finds out about his powers. So he uses something else that has proven, even when he first saw him in the FIRST chapter, to work and uses sailor uniforms to motivate him.

(And since I won't be getting into this all that much in the future parts so I'll say it here. Sano has this dynamic with Haru that is really interesting to me. Their relationship gives off the vibes of equals. Though they may be student and teacher, human and supernatural being, they get paired off with each other a lot. And while every other student has at least a bit respect for the hierarchy, Sano doesn't really with haru in my opinion. )

☆Chapter 26｡.｡:+* ﾟ ゜ﾟ *+:｡.｡:+* ﾟ ゜ﾟ *+:｡.｡.｡:+*ﾟ

THIS FLASHBACK CHAPTER!!!

Haru's relationship with mii-kun is so cute and sweet. The way this teenager tries to comfort and get on this '"child's" level. How he is the first to go after his plush mametarou (mame...ok sure). How he plays along with Sano saying they split it three ways (I feel like most would tell the kid that they can't really do that).

How even if he might be a distant memory for Sano, as far as we know, Haru still lives deep in his heart!

☆Chapter 30｡.｡:+* ﾟ ゜ﾟ *+:｡.｡:+* ﾟ ゜ﾟ *+:｡.｡.｡:+*ﾟ

(This picture is just shipping bate, why have a whole panel of them holding hands while sano says "caught you" like if this was a heterosexual couple this would definitely come off as romantic-)

Obviously, I dont think Haru giving hints was only for Sano, but the fact that Sano is the one to figure it out just reiterates how much sano understands how haru works! How haru trust his students, Sano, and how he really wants to see all of them succeed.

Now for the most important part, Sano's smile. Let me tell you that this IS the real turning point of their relationship. This is the first real happy baby boy smile Sano gives Haru that isn't sadistic. And even though he goes all tsundere and says it was an illusion, doesn't mean that this didn't happen!!!
