Rewatching legacies on Netflix has made me sad thinking about how much better this show could’ve been if it was ACTUALLY made about a school for the supernatural like it was SUPPOSED TO BE and not about Landon and his bloodline. If we’re really thinking about it Landon was always the main character not Hope. Everything about the story revolved entirely around Landon until he and malivore died FOUR SEASONS LATER.

The show was SUPPOSED to be following hopes life at a supernatural school after losing her family and whatnot and instead it turned into Alaric using his students to deal with supernatural problems. It feels like 90% of the show doesn’t even take place at the school because we never see teachers. We never see them in class. We never see them with actual assignments. They showed us that wannabe quidditch ONCE in the first episode but then NEVER brought it up again???

To me the best episodes were always the ones that were actually focused on school related stuff. The football games, the therapy box day, that day with Emma when wade explains how he thinks he’s a fairy, the talent show, the dances etc

Now after the the 4 years of suffering through malivore we gets some random cheap all powerful god being who’s meant to be the big bad but falls in love with aurora in the 5 seconds he’s been awake and hasn’t killed a single person yet?

I think the problem is that instead of crafting a story and watching their lives flow like actual lives like tvd and to is that they instead used the supernatural and Arrowverse set up where they need to have a new type of villain (monster) show up every episode to defeat and each episode will slowly build into each other what we get for the finale

The PROBLEM with this layout for legacies is that it doesn’t make sense to use it!!! For Arrowverse it makes sense, they’re superheroes of course there’s always gonna be a new threat waiting around the corner for them to deal with, same for supernatural, but with legacies it doesn’t make any sense to do the same

The ONLY WAY that layout works is if they change what their “villain” is to something else. The point of this type of layout is to have SOME KIND of problem each episode that needs to be solved and they fucked up legacies by going with the stereotypical problem that there’s some kind of bad thing that needs to be defeated, if they took their heads out of their asses they could’ve realized that the problem that needs to be solved each week DOESNT NEED TO BE A PHYSICAL ENEMY

They could’ve focused on the problems of a regular teenage life, the problems of school life, bullies, trying to figure out who you are, failing classes, sports, fundraisers, their rivalry with mystic falls high, being homsesick, secret trips into town to try and have fun only to be hassled by either the high school kids or by the sherif (Matt) who knows what they are and hates them for it, falling into the wrongs crowds, etc etc

The whole point of legacies was to be different than tvd and to and the one thing we never got from either was seeing anyone have a normal life. Obviously being supernatural and all wouldn’t allow it to be totally normal but it would’ve been nice to see all of that instead of the typical tvd/to thing where it’s like here’s this random big bad that’s now your problem to deal with (and legacies couldn’t even get that right dragging malivore out for 4 fucking seasons)

I also would’ve committed cold blood murder to watch Lizzie and hope bicker/fight everyday through regular school and then slowly become friends as they realize how imperfect they both are like Hope could walk in on lizzie in the middle of one of her volatile breakdowns and they have an awkward moment of being nice/not fighting for that one moment which makes them awkward/unsure of how to feel and treat each other after that and just to watch the relationship slowly bloom

I also hate how put together lizzie is now, don’t get me wrong I love that she’s got a better handle on her mental health but I think they moved passed the volatile breakdowns way too fast, she was/is bipolar right?? I would’ve loved to see that version of her explored a lot more and how other people would react with it

Example: I would’ve loved to see Lizzie lose it after Josie confirming she made up all those lies/rumors to/about lizzie, like after confirming it I would’ve loved to see lizzie storm out of the room and then in some empty room she would have another one of her volatile breakdowns because 1) how much she suffered from those lies and 2) because she idolized hope and always wanted to be friends with her and those lies cost her that

I also would’ve LOVED to see Josie eventually realize she’s got her own slew of mental problems and to have to start meeting with Emma regularly

There was just SO MUCH wasted potential with this godforsaken show and as much as it pains and irritates me and HATE that it isn’t this and that it’s actually the terrible terrible terrible mess that it currently is I CANNOT afford for it to be canceled because hizzie is the only thing keeping me alive so let’s stream legacies on Netflix besties

I was a bit (super) disappointed the cancellation took the wind out of some of the first promising story lines in Legacies for almost two seasons...

Jed and Ben learning to live without their 'curses'

Finch becoming the Alpha and having this responsibility and expectations to meet

CAROLINE AS HEADMISTRESS!

Who is Hope without her core mission of 'save Landon'? (I was also picking up some groundwork for a Clarke relationship and that interested the heck outta me).

Crosssing my fingers the streaming numbers on Netflix give us two more seasons to explore and wrap up the show better

As sad as this kind of ending is, it's kind of a relief to know that no matter how well the show did, no matter how amazing the writing was, no matter how hard the actors worked, and no matter how much the fans loved and supported it, Legacies was doomed from the start just for having the very things that made it so great.

There was nothing anyone could've done better. It was always out of our hands. The show was just "too gay" or "too diverse" for the new people in power to profit off of, and changing those things only would've made it into a show none of us recognized or loved.

The people claiming victory over Kaylee leaving and every single non-conservative show on the network getting canceled need a harsh reminder that Kaylee is queer and Asian American. Their presence would not have helped in a "cleanse." It's not "karma." It's homophobia and racism going unchecked in an industry rampant with it. To celebrate that is to encourage it.

Today's spree also sets such a bad precedent across the entire industry. What message was this supposed to send to creators everywhere other than you'll never be safe if you make your shows too diverse? That you'll always have to stay just shy of having real rep to even stay on air? That you have to sacrifice authenticity to survive?

It sucks. It really does. But at the end of the day, to think that being too gay and too diverse is what brought the entire Vampire Diaries Universe down is a legacy I can get behind.

I am sorry? But....

So let me get that straight: “Riverdale”-Fans deserve a final season after six seasons, while “Legends of Tomorrow”-Fans don’t deserve one after seven seasons and “Vampire Diaries”/”The Originals”/”Legacies”-Fans don’t even deserve a Finale for their 13 year old Franchise.

So The CW is saying that somehow fans of “Riverdale” are the better fans and therefore deserve more?

Well, thank you very much. I like “Riverdale” too and want the show to get a decent ending (if such a thing is even possible after the last couple of seasons) but Newsflash: Every Narration deserves an ending!

And claiming otherwise just shows that you are an asshole. And The CW just proofed again that they are the biggest asses of all by putting one fandom above all the others. Just because there a more of a kind does not make those people more important as well, you know.... (And frankly I am not even sure if the fact that more people watch “Riverdale” means that this show has more actual fans than the ones cancelled without warning).

I need the cw to think logically for once. Let’s put the views aside and really think about it. Riverdale, a show that is quite literally been absolute complete nonsense for years now, with the most cringey irritating characters, that is in its 6th season, is getting renewed for a 7th season

On the other hand we have legacies which is not absolute complete nonsense, has extremely loveable and amazing characters, is part of an extremely popular and beloved franchise and only has 4 seasons, and is getting canceled????

Riverdale has had 6 years (of complete stupid bs) you could at least give legacies 5 years especially considering all the tvdu has done for the cw (tvd imo was one of the most if not THE most popular show of the cw)

Idk who I’m more mad at, the cw’s dumb choices or the tvdu fans for letting fucking RIVERDALE out do us in viewers

Don’t even get me started on flash getting another season (as a superhero nerd who originally adored the show I think it’s gone to complete shit and is beyond dragged out and my hatred for it is borderlining my hatred for riverdale especially the fact that they made killer frost straight and downgraded her look to the point where she quite literally just seems like caitlin)

Hopes erster Schultag

Hope hatte das Wochenende überstanden und machte sich gerade für ihren ersten Tag an ihrer neuen deutschen Schule fertig. Sie hatte ein neues übernatürliches Wesen gefunden und auch rausgefunden, dass es sich hierbei um die 17- jährige Lena Frey handelte. Hope musste ihr Vertrauen gewinnen und sie an die Salvatore School bringen- natürlich musste sie auch rauskriegen was für ein übernatürliches Wesen Lena war und wo konnte man das besser als wenn man gemeinsam zur Schule ging? Nachdem sich Hope nochmal im Spiegel angesehen hatte strich sie nochmal ihr Outfit glatt, nahm ihre Tasche und ging aus dem Haus.

Nachdem sie das Schulgelände des Otto- Hahn- Gymnasium betreten hatte entdeckte sie Lena, welche mit zwei Jungs zusammen stand und als sie Hope bemerkte winkte sie ihr zu und deutete an, dass Hope sich zu ihnen gesellen sollte, was sie dann auch tat.

Lena stellte Hope ihre beiden besten Freunde, Tim und Joschi vor und nachdem die beiden Jungs Hope die Hand geschüttelt hatten ging die kleine Gruppe ins Innere der Schule und brachte Hope zu ihrem ersten Kurs, den sie zusammen mit Lena und Joschi besuchte. Jetzt hatte Hope Englisch, dessen Lehrer Herrn Felsenstein sie sehr mochte, denn er gestaltete den Unterricht interessant und machte zwischendurch auch ein paar Witze, sodass die Stunde wie im Flug verging. Als sie dann zurück auf den Flur traten machten Lena und Joschi aufeinmal lange Gesichter und als Hope fragte ob jemand gestorben wäre antwortete Joschi "Nein, aber gleich im Unterricht wird es jemand". Als Hope fragend eine Augenbraue hoch zog klärte Lena sie auf "Wir haben gleich Unterricht mit Frau Kasseck und die kann so gut wie niemanden leiden- sie hat sogar ihre Kandidaten die sie hasst und das spiegelt sich auch in den Noten wieder". "Hat es euch denn schon getroffen?" fragte Hope, woraufhin Lena und Joschi den Kopf schüttelten und Joschi meinte "Und wir hoffen, dass es dich nicht erwischt". Hope winkte ab und meinte ganz gelassen "Mach dir darüber mal keine Sorgen, Lehrer lieben mich". Die beiden grinsten amüsiert und gingen ins Klassenzimmer für Physik, wo auch schon wenig später die besagte Frau Kasseck eintraf. Sie wusste wohl, dass es eine neue Schülerin in der Klasse gab und verkündete "Wie einige von Ihnen vielleicht schon bemerkt haben ist eine neue Schülerin bei uns im Kurs. Frau Hope Marshall kommt aus Amerika und wird sich sicherlich darüber freuen etwas neues hier in Deutschland zu lernen. Hope, ich hoffe sehr Sie leben sich schnell ein". Hope bedankte sich und versicherte ihr, dass sie das ganz bestimmt tun würde. Der Unterricht war eher langweilig, aber Hope hatte es auch nicht nötig wirklich aufmerksam zuzuhören, denn dank ihrer Tribriden- Natur konnte sie durch ihr Vampir- Gehör alles hören, auch wenn sie nicht bei der Sache war. Lena dagegen war ganz anders drauf, denn sie schrieb alles auf was die Lehrerin sagte. Nachdem auch diese Stunde beendet war gingen sie auf den Schulhof, wo sich auch wieder Tim zu ihnen gesellt hatte und nachdem alle bequem saßen fragte Hope Lena, warum sie vorhin alles aufgeschrieben hatte. Lena klärte sie auf "Ich schreibe immer alles im Unterricht auf und trage Zuhause alles nochmal ordentlich um, damit ich gute Lernzettel habe und die bestmöglichen Noten bekomme. Ich möchte nämlich Medizin studieren, wenn ich mein Abitur habe". Oh, wenn du wüsstest dass du das momentan vergessen kannst, dachte Hope. Denn wenn Lena erstmal auf der Salvatore School sein würde, würde sich ihr Leben für immer ändern. In der letzten Stunde für diesen Tag hatten sie Sportunterricht, wo Hope durch ihre Fähigkeiten, die sie nur so anwandte, sodass ihre Mitschüler sie für sehr fit hielten ordentlich punkten konnte. Beim Basketball war einer ihrer Mitschüler mit der Hand an der Uhr eines anderen hängen geblieben, was echt übel aussah und während der Sportlehrer selbst fast zusammen sackte meisterte Lena die Situation perfekt und versorgte die Wunde des Jungen. Hope musste bei diesem Anblick lächeln, denn sie sah heute zum ersten Mal, dass Lena wirklich die geborene Ärztin war und daher beschloss die Tribridin Lena so gut wie möglich zu unterstützen, dass sie trotz ihres neuen übernatürlichen Lebens Ärztin werden konnte. Als auch diese Stunde geschafft war gingen Hope und Lena gemeinsam nach draußen und kurz bevor sie sich voneinander verabschiedeten, weil Lena in eine andere Richtung musste sagte Hope "Du hast das echt super gemacht vorhin. Hast du gesehen wie der Lehrer fast aus den Latschen gekippt wäre, so überfordert wie der war? Ehrlich, ich verstehe nicht warum du überhaupt noch hier bist- du könntest auch sofort Medizin studieren". Lena lächelte und antwortete "Danke, aber ich bin leider noch schulpflichtig und brauche Abitur um das zu können". Dann verabschiedeten sich Hope und Lena voneinander und Hope hatte noch keine Ahnung, was sie und auch Lena in den nächsten Tagen alles erwarten würde...
