One month since our adventure in America. I don't often write in posts, but I'll write a few sentences this time. Sometimes photos have "that something special" when accompanied by a story. This first photo may not be noticed like the other photos in the collection or my photos in the latest posts. Still, it will forever remind me of our first night in San Francisco, after which we had to look for a new hotel and move with all our cameras and bags because the rain flooded our accommodation. The last 100 years haven't seen so much rain as those days in the Bay Area. - In addition, we had to adjust the schedule, including the session and the wedding day. This is truly one of my favorite views from the room so far. Polizei darf auf private Kameras zugreifen
Gefahr von Vandalismus oder Verkehrsdelikte reichen als Grund
Bisher galt Kalifornien immer als Verteidiger des Klimaschutzes und auch der Privatsphäre des Einzelnen unter den Bundesstaaten der USA. Mindestens letzteres ist jetzt in Gefahr. Netzpolitik.org schreibt:
Das Board of Supervisors von San Francisco hat am 20. September polizeiliche Befugnisse bei der Videoüberwachung ausgeweitet. Die Ermittler:innen dürfen nun live auf private Überwachungskameras zugreifen, mit Genehmigung der Betreibenden oder einem richterlichen Beschluss.
Ob die Einschränkungen dauerhaft halten, ist dann die nächste Frage. Denn man muss sich darüber im Klaren sein, dass die technischen Voraussetzungen erst einmal angelegt sein müssen, um den sofortigen Zugriff zu bekommen. Ob der Betreiber dann wirklich merkt, dass auf sein Bildmaterial zugegriffen wird, ist mehr als fraglich.
Die Maßnahme ist als Pilot-Projekt zunächst auf 15 Monate beschränkt und soll bei "lebensbedrohlichen Notfällen" und Ermittlungen wegen Vandalismus oder Verkehrsdelikten helfen. Die Bürgermeisterin setzte das Projekt gegen den Willen von Bürgerrechtsorganisationen, Anwohner:innen, Anwält:innen und Mitgliedern der zivilen Polizeikommission durch.
Bürgerrechtsorganisationen fürchten, dass insbesondere Schwarze, Aktivist:innen, LGBTQ-Personen und Muslime zu Objekten solcher Beobachtungen werden. Außerdem steht einer dauerhaften Beobachtung von politischen Versammlungen und Demonstrationen nichts mehr im Wege - das läuft dann wohl unter dem Begriff "Gefahr von Vandalismus" ...

I had to take a quick trip up to San Francisco this past weekend, so I decided to snap a few quick pics. I was extremely short on time so I was only able to capture a few shots, but I’m glad I did. San Francisco will always hold a special place in my heart. As a young professional, it was one of my favorite cities to visit for it’s culture, history, food and architecture. I use to visit here 2-3 times a year, but those trips are now few and far between.
