Sonic - Sailor Moon - duh, this is sonic and sailor moon were talking abt

Tails - Sailor Mercury - both r very smart and technologically advanced lol

Knuckles - Sailor Mars - red. also bc usagi and rei (moon and mars respectively) r rlly big rivals lmao

Amy - Sailor Venus - they have VERY similar personalities, she’s besties w jupiter, minako (venus) wants to be an idol rlly bad and amy has that energy

Metal Sonic - Sailor Jupiter - both have electricity related to them, Metal Sonic + Amy r besties just like Jupiter and Venus cmon you know it’s true, also bc Jupiter is known for her unfathomable strength similar to how Metal is unfathomably strong in reference to sonic bc. yk.

Shadow - Sailor Saturn - THIS IS RLLY RLLY RLLY FLESHED OUT IN MY HEAD SINCE THEYRE BOTH MY FAVORITES LOL, both r seen as “ultimate lifeforms” in a way, shadow being in cryosleep for years and saturn being “forbidden to awaken due to her being the soldier of death”, hotaru and shadow were both in some way scientifically created, hotaru and shadow r both the children of (mad) scientists, shadow being gerald and hotaru being PROFESSOR FUCKING TOMOE, both had a rlly traumatic event alter the course of their life, and both died tragically, were reborn, and have a found family after being reborn, shadow being team dark and saturn being uranus neptune and pluto

Rouge - Sailor Uranus - rouge arguably COULD have been neptune but she lacks the grace that neptune has , and i feel like overall she suits uranus waaay more

Silver - Sailor Pluto - pluto is the soldier of fucking time why do you think she’s silver

Blaze - Sailor Neptune - blaze has that grace that rouge kinda lacks in regards to neptune, plus blaze and neptune r rlly similar in vibes, and i think it would be ironic to see blaze do a deep submerge lol

Happy birthday Hotaru my gift to you is all the shit I did for you in ReStart. wall of text below

Hotaru 1.0 (土萠ほたる) is the daughter of Tomoe Souichi, de jure leader of the Death Busters after a lab accident that killed her mother and burned her right arm and leg causing her severe chronic pain that's only eased by the Taioron Crystal.

She gets used as the vessel for Mistress 9 that will awaken once the Death Busters fill the Taioron Crystal with the power of the Grail OR Hotaru kicks the bucket. The Let's Kill Hotaru For The Good Of The World Gang (which in the AU is the Outers plus Minako) does actually end up killing her against Usagi's wishes but WHOOPS THAT WAS A BAD IDEA NOW WAS IT.

Saturn awakens, does her thing, Usagi solves it, yadayadayada. When she's reborn as a baby Pluto takes her and puts her in a hospital in the future because I'm not about her murderers raising her as her own pretending like nothing happened.

She gets adopted and named Doei Hotaru (土栄蛍) so now we have Hotaru 2.0. While she doesn't have superficial injuries like 1.0 she still keeps the chronic pain from her but she manages with meds (and later her powers once she transforms).

Her first name is kanji (surname) and hiragana (given name) but translates to "firefly sprouting from the earth." Her second name is all kanji and translates to "firefly flourishing from the earth". A subtle change but I feel it fits lol

SilMil Saturn is inspired by bugs obviously and her mask is lightly based on them classic plague doctor masks. Her fuku is also loosely based on the rejected La Cygne Sailor Moon design.

Saturn 2.0 is basically canon Saturn bar the sleeves (she gets them with the upgrade) and her brooch is rounded yet unique because like the other Senshi that don't quite fit the hierarchy she uses one to transform. Phrase is still Saturn Planet Power Make Up. She also gets a more elaborate glaive.

treats his dog pochi almost like his kid at times, and by that i mean making it warm homecooked meals, giving it a really nice bed with blankets and pillows, hell he probably reads pochi bedtimes stories or smth. kiku just REALLY cares about his stinkin dog he'd DIE for that thing.

and lastly kiku probably owns a fuck ton of anime figures, though doesn't have a favorite one.

What "development" is this person talking about? They're given more screen time and made into comic relief characters but that's about it. I was hoping not to see the need to prop up the '90s anime until AFTER Cosmos was released in the US. They completely downplayed the threatening nature of Sailor Animates. Compare Lead Crow's bantering with Siren and her wiping out Phobos and Demos and catching Sailor Mars off guard and threatening Venus as well. No idea what the designs have to do with this.

People still don't understand what character development is

Character development does not equal screen time.

We are not with them a long time but we do know why they are doing what they a doing and get a little backstory.

Especially the fact the 90's anime completely changed their backstory to be being an senshi who gave up their star seed meanwhile in the manga they were never senshi in the first place but WANTED to be senshi. To the point they help Gal kill the senshi of their own planet because she promise them if they do that they will be reborn as senshi with a Sailor Crystal.

That is more tragic because they were promise something and thought's they was working towards that but was never going to get it in the first place.

Shit Tin Nyanko gave Artemis and Luna the ride at by saying they abandoned Mau to help out Usagi which she was very pissed off at that.

Then you have Lethe and Mnemosyne that are "true" senshi but their planets was at war with each other and they saw their planets get blew up by Gal and then they served her.

Would it been more nice to spend more time with them?

Yeah sure

But you have Galaxia pretty much killing a senshi left and right to get Usagi which they were pretty much pawns in this for Gal, it's not going to be like that.

To me they did a couple things

To show there are more senshi out there besides the 11 ( well 12 if you count Chibs) that we have spent almost five arcs knowing. That planets outside the Solar System have their own Planetary Sailor Senshi protecting the planet.( Which it could have been awesome if we got another series exploring more senshi but how Toei treated Naoko, I don't blame her.)

To be a cautionary and tragic tale of girls who want to be a senshi and was lead astray by someone who promised that but it was never going to happen. Which they was used for that person bidding and their own personal goal didn't matter.

To show that without a Sailor Crystal or Star Seed, the body is just dust. Showing that a Sailor Crystal or Star Seed is someone soul and the body is expendable. (Which is many religious teachings, it's been taught that the soul will live on but the body will turn back into the earth aka dirt or dust.) Which the only thing that was keeping those five alive was the bracelets and without them they was just dust.

Some people don't understand how deep was getting in this arc but because they only spent one or two page time before they was gone and not 20-30 episodes being comedic relief before finally getting killed yall want to scream "THEY GET NO CHARACTER DEVEOPLMENT! "

It's bad enough they scream that over and over again about the core four when if you really look closely those girls are not the same people they were when the manga started.

They have changed completely while still maintain their traits.

Do you we have ever seen Ami showing anger for not getting an high score on a test to the point she's ripping a paper in half?

Even Haruka and Mic is not the same people we met from Infinity arc to Stars Arc.

The fact those two went from being all about not making sure Hotaru didn't awaken to Saturn to pretty much taking care of her and treating her like she's their own kid.

Hell Hotaru went from a father who only used her for a science experiment which she was only kept alive by being a half machine, to finding a friend, to awaking up to the powerful senshi who thought they was always " the unwanted guest" to now she has a family, a best friend, and doesn't have to be alone anymore.

Pluto My god Sets. Sets went from being pretty much a kid senshi that had to stay a the door of time guarding it with no friends at all, that was told not to break rules, to befriending Chibiusa, a girl who was a lonely as she was who had no friend's, who she broke all the rules for because how much she loved her and wanted to save her , to being reborn by NQS in present time, and now being the " mother" type figure for the whole team

Mic was straight up gushing about the fact they are in high school again and can enjoy the experience because when they was at the academy they was on a mission. They are able to be normal high schoolers hanging out with each other and with the other five.

Do you think we have saw Mic break her lip stick because one of the starlights told her the color was tacky? Not how she was first introduced to be the elegant one.

We was able to see different sides of the girls and show how multi-faceted they could be while seeing them grow.

All these girls started off feeling like they are alone. That people and society had a perception about them which was father from the truth..

Usagi said fuck that shit and befriended every last one of them which they found a friend in her and found friends with each other. They founded their own family which help them grow and able to show who they really are to not only to each other but to other people as well.

"We're all lonely stars. That's why we seek each other out. We want to be united. Together as one. Because that is how we were in the beginning. "

Does that line really encompass Sailor Moon as a whole but some people fail to grasp that concept??

They were all lonely stars, found each other, and made an unbreakable bond with each other. ( Which you can tell how strong their bond was because they was pretty much can feel when the other one is in trouble, they can feel when one them got killed, and they all stayed together in the Cauldron waiting on Usagi.)

And because we do see that but not 100-200 episodes of that people want to say they didn't get any character development.

That's why you can't tell me their friendship was better in the 90's anime than the Manga/Crystal because it's not true.

Outers Family:

Haruka and Michiru (and later Setsuna) are forced by prophecy to spend months plotting to kill 12 year old Hotaru in order to save the world, giving up their teenaged lives and innocence and it’s super gay and angsty. But then Hotaru awakens as Sailor Saturn anyways and she turns out to be good and defeats the big bad! But she dies because Ultimate Sacrifice TM. Sailor Moon’s magic resurrects her though. Issue is she’s reborn as a baby and her weird abusive father is dead now. So Michiru snatches this baby and tells Haruka and Setsuna that they are her parents now and will raise her. Haruka and Setsuna agree because who are they to tell their girlfriend no. Time skip, Hotaru is the sweetest toddler and she calls them Haruka papa, Michiru mama, and Setsuna mama and Michiru teaches her to play the violin, Setsuna homeschools her, Haruka plays pretend with her and they all give her HEADPATS.

love that it kinda seemed like Setsuna was gonna give Haruka and Michiru a little more chill regarding immediately resorting to murder but then that was NOT the case. Like as soon as Hotaru starts to awaken as Sailor Saturn, Haruka and Michiru like line up a kill shot and its like 'oh what's Setsuna gonna do?" well what she's gonna do is use Dead Scream on a child, that's what she's gonna do

ok so do you head canon the sailor senshi having scars ?if yes where would they have them?and do you think usagi would feel guilty every time she sees her friends scars because they have the mission/responsibility to protect her in fights ?idk if my questions made sense 😅

Hi there! Thank you so much!

And yeah, I do hc the senshi having scars, but my hc is a bit convoluted. Basically if an injury is caused by a fight when in senshi form, that scar would only show in their civilian form and it would only show if it's form a major injury (senshi healing prevents them from being covered in scars from minor to even some major cuts/bruises). So say sailor Mars gets grievously injured. Rei would get a scar, but the next time she turns into Mars, that scar is no longer present for the time of her being Sailor Mars.

The only exception is if a scar was present from before their awakening, say kid Minako fell down a ditch and broke her leg and she had to get surgery, that surgery scar would be present both in her human and senshi form.

With all that said I do hc the majority of the senshi getting some type of scar/major injury in my 'super hc, definitely detached from canon' storyline.

I see Ami losing some fingers from over-exerting herself, due Mercury not being immune to her own powers (ice). I see Usagi losing her right arm trying to save the two idiot lesbians from Saturn and Mina getting a thin horizontal scar on her face she got while saving Usagi. Mako and Haruka both have scars too, though those are from their childhoods, Haruka lost use of the right eye in a domestic violence incident and Mako getting a pretty major abdominal scar from the plane crash (in my hc I have it where she was on the flight that killed her parents, it's depressing ik, but its there for a reason).

The others I'm wishy-washy on, I don't really like giving scars just cause, I like to have a narrative reason for them. I'm sure as I develop the story more, I'd get a better line on them.

I do see Usagi feeling guilty, but not about most of their scars, she mostly feels guilty for Mina's scar, since Mina got it from saving her. She more deals with a general feeling of guilt for causing her friends' lives to be tied to being a senshi. I'll get more headcanon-y for a moment and say that I hc that being a senshi is not something you can just walk away from, not only responsibility wise, but also physically. The girls have to transform on a regular basis, or their bodies start to get all this built up energy that can cause physical ans mental strain, like headaches, general pains, mood swings and even allucinations. It's basically you transform on a regular basis or you die, straight up. The star seeds have no use for a body that is unwilling to utilize the energy it provides, so it just seeks to kill the host and find a new vessel.

So Usagi would feel an immense amount of guilt while hearing her friends joking around and talking about how one of the girls had to lock herself in the bathroom during class for 10 minutes cause they had to transform and the teacher got soo mad!! It pains her even tho she knows, deep down, it's not her fault, but she's the only person alive she can blame. Her friends will never be able to live a normal life, and it's all her fault.

Random thought-

Did anyone else’s friend group in high school just wake up completely batshit one day and you were just like…okay I guess this is happening, why not.

I mean. We were. A very motley bunch of deeply fucked up kids from deeply fucked up places but. Other People claim this was Abnormally Abnormal. I had no frame of reference tbf I’d never had friends before, I barely knew how to pass as Relatively Human, I didn’t even try for Socialized or Well Adjusted.

I’m remembering that one year where everyone randomly decided sailor moon Was Real, and was our friend Jess. Something something, the school was gonna blow up and they’re gonna save everyone except staff because they wanted us to wear IDs and were trying to push for uniforms. (Seriously fuck both ids and uniforms but that is not the point) And also then assigned the rest of us roles. I was small and violent so I got Saturn, which still cracks me up ngl but— what triggered this. WHO started it. Why did not a single one of us go ‘this is fine but I need you to admit we are actively choosing to role play right now. As a group. Tell me you don’t believe this is fact.’ still have no idea. Showed up at the breakfast hangout spot and everyone was like oh my god I had a dream, did you awaken as a sailor yet? I was half sure I somehow did drugs with my cereal that day. And then it. Stopped being talked about. Just as suddenly.

Can’t remember if that’s the same year half of the group suddenly also claimed to have like, vampire blood and/or be housing several people in one brain for (it’s not cheating if I’m two people) ….reasons

The funniest part of this to me, now, is that none of us knew what the fuck d&d was yet. Obviously, we should have.

Man. I wanna say that was peak ridiculousness but. I don’t think I can. It’s been like 20 years since high school, I have a long list of stupid shit. Oh my god it’d been 20 years since high school what the fuck even is time.
