Desde Japón nos llegan STILL DREAMS, tu nueva banda asiática favorita.......... Maaya Wachi (Voz) y Ryuta Wachi (Guitarra, Producción) son Still Dreams, el último descubrimiento que hemos hecho desde Japón y que tenemos en bucle desde entonces. STILL DREAMS es un dúo japonés formado por la pareja Maaya y Ryuta, con amplias querencias por el indie-pop, el synth-pop y el shoegazing. Su presentación es este single digital, adelanto de su próximo Mini-LP para la colección “New Adventures In Pop” de Elefant Records. Un single protagonizado por “Ultra Doomed”, un ejercicio de pop sintetizado, evocador y de grandes melodías, que podría caer en algún sitio entre SAINT ETIENNE, NEW ORDER y THE HUMAN LEAGUE. Además, como canción exclusiva de este single, “Envy”, un tema con claros ecos del “Just Like Heaven” de THE CURE y que pone sobre la mesa todo el espíritu indie-pop con posos melancólicos del que hacen gala STILL DREAMS. Además, el video-clip que acompaña al tema titular muestra a Maaya atravesando las calles de Osaka, con un gran trabajo de fotografía y dirección de Kodai Kitanobo, consiguiendo que las luces nocturnas colaboren ampliamente a conseguir el efecto hipnótico de la parte sonora. Por último, la portada es un interesante ejercicio de dibujo manga, realizado por el tailandés KNN.5. Un aperitivo absolutamente exquisito para adentrarnos en el mundo de una banda que nos promete grandes y ensoñadores momentos. Ryuta y Maaya ya tuvieron proyectos musicales en común antes de montar STILL DREAMS. Ya desde muy jóvenes, formaban parte de un cuarteto llamado JUVENILE JUVENILE, donde Maaya tocaba la batería y hacía coros, y Ryuta tocaba la guitarra y llevaba la voz cantante. El grupo llegó a sacar varios CDs y Singles 7” en el sello Flake Records, y compartieron escenario con otras bandas indie-pop de fuera de Japón como NIGHT FLOWERS, LETTING UP DESPITE GREAT FAULTS y HAZEL ENGLISH. Su sonido ya mostraba sus querencias por el shoegaze y los ambientes melancólicos de espíritu pop.
