i've been roleplaying for about ten years now on different websites, but i just recently started using my tumblr account more and decided to find +18 partners here too !

— my writing style is third person and very descriptive since i enjoy paying attention to detail. my reply length can vary from 3-4 paragraphs to novella, but i like to adapt to my partners and i will most definitely match your length/style!

— i roleplay exclusively on discord. you can always add and dm me if you're interested @ lutolilium !

— i prefer oc x oc pairings and original universes, though i will also roleplay in fandom/ canon universes, but only with original characters and as long as i am familiar with said fandom and it interests me. some of the fandoms i'm familiar with are harry potter, resident evil, the hunger games, the 100 and twilight!

— all pairings all welcome, but i prefer mxf pairings since i am more comfortable writing as female characters. i enjoy playing more than one character per roleplay, so mumu roleplays are more than welcome!

— some of my favorite genres: angst, drama, romance, crime, horror, western, folklore, gothic, apocalypse, dystopian. i also enjoy more casual settings and stories since i consider myself to be a very flexible writer, so any genre that you might propose will interest me! i much prefer to include smut in my roleplays, though plot comes first for me and i'd like these scenes to appear naturally following the course of the story.

— i have very few triggers since i enjoy including dark themes/elements in my roleplays (angst, death, stalking, blood...).

— i prefer to create new ocs for each of my roleplays, sharing pinterest boards, playlists and headcanons/blurbs, so i'd very much appreciate it if you're someone who likes to do this as well !!

Headcanon / meta: Structure of the Underworld.

This takes what we know about the Underworld from canon and combines it with lore from Greek mythology to fully flesh out what happens in the afterlife.

The Underworld is structured fairly similarly to its mythological counterpart. Souls are ferried across the River Styx, past Twinbellows, and to the City of Souls, where excess souls await the verdict on their final resting place.

From there, they may be sent to one of four places:

Tartarus, where the wickedest souls are punished for their deeds;

The Vale of Mourning, where those who were consumed by unhappy love dwell;

The Asphodel Meadows, where the “neutral” souls live, not wicked enough for Tartarus but not remarkable enough for...

The Fields of Elysium, a paradise for exceptional souls. A soul can choose to remain here, free of toil, or choose to be reincarnated. ( Souls that choose the latter would drink from the Lethe to forget their previous lives. Ooh, segue! )

Several rivers flow in and out of the different areas of the Underworld, not just limited to flowing water, but also fire and excess souls. If there are more souls coming into the Underworld than can be ferried across the Styx at a given moment, they simply stream directly into the City of Souls without any sort of divine protection. These souls might fade away...or be consumed. Normally, there’s not much more than a stream of excess souls entering the City of Souls this way, but during the events of Uprising, the fighting and death in the Overworld causes this stream to become a torrent.

Hades himself is responsible for dealing specifically with the souls that end up in Tartarus, but in the events leading up to his appearance in Uprising, his lust for power drove him to target any and all souls entering the Underworld, preventing them from reaching their intended destinations.

Other places of note include:

The Underworld Castle, where Medusa ( and presumably also Hades and his other Commanders ) preside over the Underworld;

The Rewind Spring, located on the outskirts of the City of Souls, capable of reversing the effects of time on anyone who comes in contact with its waters. Or completely erasing their existences if they linger for too long. The Lethe flows from here.

Of course, Adrian was worried she might have injured herself, but he was assured it was nothing serious. For a moment he wondered if she actually fell and if this wasn’t just a setup to get him to come over. She wouldn’t do it, would she? No, they were just friends, nothing else.

          He carried in the last of the logs needed for the fireplace and dusted off his coat from some sawdust that had been on the logs. “That should be enough for some time, I think,” he said with a smile and looked down at the pile of logs and then back at her. “Oh, right! I locked the shed, here’s your key,” he remembered, pulling out a key from his pocket and giving it back to her. “Hey, but are you sure your wrist is fine? It doesn’t need to be looked at?” There was worry in his eyes.

Roleplay Is Not Dead Nor Doth It Sleep

There's a post going around about how text-based, freeform roleplay is dead, and I was typing up a huge response to this, with an accompanying guide on how to find roleplayer in 2024, when I realized it might have a bigger reach if I made it its own post. So here's that guide.

I hesitate to say that there isn't a problem with the new format of social media making roleplay more difficult to find, but in the desire to make that point, the OP of the original post has left people with the idea that there's no way for them to get into freeform text roleplay in 2024. Which just isn't true! Here, look at all the ways.

Forums

The link to RPG-Directory to find roleplaying forums is a good start. Once you've found a forum RPG, even if you don't join, there's usually an 'advertising' section on that forum where other forum RPGs post their ads - this may help you to find forums that don't advertise on RPG-D.

Another really good forum to find roleplay on is Barbermonger. Barbermonger is focused on connecting people for one-on-one roleplays.

This last one's going to be weird, but it turns out that there are still people seeking roleplay on the Gaia Online forums after all these years. I think this is delightfully retro and then crowd there seems a little older than average. No pre-existing knowledge of Gaia required.

Tumblr

You can also find forum roleplay groups (as well as tumblr and Discord groups) right here on Tumblr. Usually, the thing to do is to use the search function - search for "[genre] rp" or "[fandom] rp" and sort by "latest." (If you sort by Top, you are likely to find dead RPs.) For example, here's fantasy rp, historical rp, and marvel rp. You can also try jcink rp, as most roleplay forums are hosted on Jcink these days, or discord rp, depending on your favored platform.

There are also tumblr blogs specifically dedicated to advertising roleplays. I'm not super familiar with these nowadays, but just in the process of searching those tags above, I found these:

Reddit is a good place to find Discord roleplays. It's a little heavier on smut-only roleplays than other platforms mentioned here, but it's not impossible to find sexless, plot-based roleplay here either. Most ads are for one on one RP, but you can find groups mixed in here too. The big subreddits for text-based freeform RP seem to be:

The original post specifically mentions that 'all the old "omegle but for role play" type websites died out ages ago'. This is mostly true, but not quite! There's still Rolechat. It's a little janky, but what it needs more than anything is a bigger user base. Their Discord server is also a good place to find one on one discord roleplay. It is, of course, free, but if you want to support its development, they have a patreon.
