Rising Sun #1 I'm a big sucker for ninjas and mythology. So this series looks like it is going to have everything I'm looking for. I like the idea that the characters will have unique skills and will need to use them together to save the world. The art work is absolutely excellent. Each character really looks their part. The character introductions were worked into the story really nicely. I'm looking forward to what this series has to hold. Kyle Rayner has been around for more than 25 years and, of course, I missed the anniversary, hard. Let’s hope this is the year I learn to be on time. For a long while I’d kind of put it away in the back of my mind, but I’m pretty sure that getting into that run by Ron Marz, Darryl Banks and Romeo Tanghal had some effect on me. The combination of artist and designer was definitely not on my mind until then and it sure seemed enticing. Just as well, the idea of someone being all of that plus a hero who helped others through their willpower and imagination aligned quite neatly with what I wanted to believe and what I thought I could strive for… metaphorically speaking, of course… unless you’ve got a power ring to offer. It’s hard to let go of childhood heroes, but I’m fine with Kyle. He’s a softy artist, an ego so tame that he relinquished godhood almost immediately and without causing that much havok, kept struggling professionally no matter his heroic successes and has the strongest of noble himbo auras. Keanu Reeves, basically. Also, much like Keanu, he always looks fantastic, mostly thanks to @glprime ‘s superb designs.
