 “now, honestly…” how do you feel about Kazuhiro ? ' for Kokichi.

「 ☆ 」   Kokichi sits on his ‘throne’, although honestly it’s just a run-down yet plush chair he’d nicked from the curb back when DICE was first moving into their ‘secret base’… It had taken a couple of the members to move it to the seemingly-abandoned building they chose to illegally nestle in. A task that was made even more difficult by Kokichi’s insistence that he sit atop of it the entire trip. Placing his feet upon his desk, shoes hit the wood with resounding clicks that echo through his private chambers.

A leader has to have his own personal place, after all.

It’s a modest room, if one didn’t take into account the cluttered mess of trinkets, momentos, a surprising number of plants, and countless other objects filling Kokichi’s space. Walls covered with all manners of blueprints and half-baked plans that didn’t fit or belong on the cork-boards surrounding him, red string and sticky notes sporadically cover his work in a manner meant to overwhelm and mislead. Important information sprinkled amongst the chaos, hidden away like gems buried by fakes. Tucked away in secret locations, varying difficulties based on how desperately Kokichi wants to keep the tidbits close to his chest.

Not that anyone is allowed in his space without him, made clear by the constantly locked door and harmless yet effective pranks put in place for those who get a bit too bold… but locks can be picked— even ones that are randomly changed depending on Kokichi’s mood —and curiosity can kill the most calculating of cats. It’s not that Kokichi doesn’t trust the members of his team. He trusts them more than anyone else in the world… but even that doesn’t make them immune to the paranoia of someone who has seen what the world has to offer. Very few are exceptions to the rule of survival and Kokichi knows himself too well to think that any of those people would willingly be around him.

DICE is full of misunderstood people. Decent people… But people, nonetheless. Only a fool lets their guard down completely unless they are alone. Even then, Kokichi keeps a firm hold onto his wits, never knowing how long his own mind will allow peace to last.

❝  Kazoo-zu is someone I’d trust with my life… He wouldn’t be in DICE if he wasn’t.  ❞  Kokichi begins, arms crossed behind his head and gaze raising to the ceiling. Counting the glow-in-the-dark stars he plastered on there, he continues in a deceptively-leisurely tone,  ❝  He’s a little too secretive for my tastes… but I’m not one to talk. Hell, even if he spilled his guts to me, I doubt I’d do the same. So- I guess we’re even.  ❞  Expression remains blank, but his mind races behind that calm exterior. Thinking back to his conversations with ‘Windy’, the others mannerisms, inflection of voice, deflecting any prying Kokichi made- no matter how subtle… Those wraps that are always around his limbs.

Brows knit slightly, jaw tightening before Kokichi adds in a low, even tone,  ❝  But that doesn’t mean I have to like it.  ❞  It’s frustrating, not knowing something. Especially when he WANTS to. When it feels almost… important to. But Kokichi knows that’s his own immaturity speaking. His distaste at having things kept from him. Primarily when it’s being done by someone who Kokichi feels— petty as he knows it is —should trust him more than this. Hypocritical, maybe… but it’s what twists Kokichi’s stomach with unease nonetheless. Shaking his head as if shoving aside unwanted thoughts, hands run through his hair with a growl, Kokichi secure in his lair to openly-emote.

❝  It’s not fair! It’s so stupid…  ❞  Emotions rarely are fair. Huffing like an impotent child, elbow smacks against his desk, cheek propped up in the palm of his hand as he irritably quips,  ❝  Yeah— He’s a decent enough guy… A bit stand-offish, but he follows orders well enough. Doesn’t ask too many questions, easy on the eyes, has a voice that’d make a nun shiver—  ❞  Listing traits as if it’s not a big deal, trying to convince himself of that, Kokichi slams his palms down on his desk and snaps,  ❝  But that’s no reason for him to BUG me like this! So he’s not racing to tell me his life story— so what? Why should I care? Why do I care?!  ❞  

❝  Well you know what? That’s perfectly fine with me—  ❞  Kokichi huffs, a devious smirk slipping onto his shadowed face, fueled by confusion and a fear he refuses to touch,  ❝  —because TWO can play that game.  ❞  If Kazuhiro refuses to give Kokichi peace of mind, then Kokichi will just have to ensure that the other male thinks about him just as much.

Kokichi is good at getting into people’s heads.   「 ☆ 」

my favorite thing about romune is that he is just FAKING his memory loss. riptid truly cannot remember his past but Romune remembers every single moment of his training in the Empire CIA and explicitly uses it to fucking lie so he doesn’t have to go back. He just decided he was Done after he got exploded. he has the patience of a saint purely because there is nothing you can do to him that can be worse than what he’s seen or done himself. He is capable of absolutely astonishing and horrific things. he stole his ancestor’s title, did u know that. Rienah was the Bonecrusher but he fucking took that title from her. He’s terrifying. He’s my dad. He’s perpetually exhausted. He’s fooled everyone into thinking he’s a sweet old man. He actually is very sweet. He’s nosy. He’s so good at hugs. He can and has crushed people before.

Two? Hmm... Kind of hate this mentality where if someone asks you a question, people just tell you straight away to just go to Google. As someone who grew up trying to ask for help from my family and having family try to help only for them to ultimately get frustrated with me because I was too slow for them or asking too many questions, being told I was too stupid, etc-- I don’t know. This always bugs me. Like because of that I can’t ask anyone questions or for help anymore because I see that as an inconvenience to them which is why I more often than not just try to solve my problems by myself now even if sometimes I don’t find a solution for said problem and get more discouraged than ever. I’m not asking for much sometimes with my questions... I’m just genuinely curious about something and don’t understand but it’s like people can’t be bothered to answer anything anymore and yeah, I can search Google but sometimes I can search up wrong things and thus get misinformed. It doesn’t take much to answer someone’s question provided you can or feel comfortable enough to do so. If not, then is it asking too much to be lead to valuable sources that could help me further and ultimately answer whatever question I had? I don’t know. That’s just me I guess. Whenever I get asked a question, I usually try my best to answer as best as I can and if I can’t, then I provide links to better answers than what I probably would have been able to give but that’s me.

Can that count as two since that was rather lengthy?? My bad.

Falcom has released new information and screenshots for Ys X: Nordics introducing characters Grimson Balta, Gunnar, Hugill, and Flair Rall, and the “Recapture Battle” system.

■ Characters

Grimson Balta (voiced by Kazuhiro Yamaji)

Age: 40

“We Normans are always a step away from death…but hey, that’s what it means to live, riiiiight?”

Leader of the Balta Navy and the father of Karja, the Pirate Princess. Known to be a pirate on par with the One-Eyed Ladoc of the Medo Sea, he has the charisma to control his rowdy soldiers and the savviness to maneuver the high-level political talks with the Romun Empire. Aside from being able to freely control the Norman’s fighting method “Berserk Mode,” which channels heightened emotions into raw power, he is the strongest Mana user possessing remarkable combat skills.

Gunnar (voiced by Shuhei Sakaguchi)

Age: 29

“Princess, I believe you are now at the age where you should be focusing on how the people of your land live their lives.”

A tough-looking Norman who serves as the head warrior in the Balta Navy under its leader, Grimson. His skills as a warrior are obvious, and he leads Balta Navy’s second fleet with his constant rational and precise decisions. He is well-reasoned and someone Karja feels she cannot compete with, but as with Phylleia, he is always watching over her growth as a Norman.

Hugill (voiced by Kosuke Kobayashi)

Age: ?? – Male

“CA-CAW!”

A chubby raven that at some time in the past decided to live in Balta Island, the base for the Balta Navy. He is curious about everything and loves to play pranks. However, the Normans treats him very well, as they believe that “the chief god Haar watches over this world through the eyes of the raven.”

Flair Rall (voiced by Keiichi Sonobe)

Age: 47

“Being able to live on this land, to me, is basically a miracle.”

A doctor from Lance Village who Adol met through his adventure of the ancient Ys Kingdom. Willing to put himself in danger and leave the village if it means providing medical attention, he is much more active than he seems. He travels with Adol seeking the seeds of the Celceta Flower, which is thought to be effective against incurable diseases. He also starts lending a hand to the clinic in Karnack during his travels

■ Recapture Battle

Battle on Land and Sea! Take Back the Islands from the Griegers!

In Obelia Bay where your Ys X: Nordics adventure takes place, there are islands scattered all over that are seized by the immortal Griegers. When you come across an Grieger-occupied island with your vessel Sandras, you can initiate a special “Recapture Battle” by approaching the island.

How a “Recapture Battle” Plays Out

Approach the barrier surrounding the occupied island with the Sandras.

Initiate a naval battle with the Sandras.

While battling enemy ships, destroy the “Barrier Pillars” placed around the island.

Once the barrier around the island is gone, you are finally able to go on land.

Disembark with Adol and Karja, and initiate land battles against the enemy base.

Obliterate countless Griegers, and conquering the enemy base lets you recapture the island.

Clearing Missions in Naval Battles Will Hype Up Your Sailors!

Once you see the Mission Clear words on the screen after naval battles, your sailors’ energy levels go up, and it becomes easier to activate each character’s “Recapture Skill.” Furthermore, the increased energy levels will lead to bonuses when land battles begin, so you’ll be able to have the upper hand when Adol and Karja fights in the second half.

A Successful Recapture Leads to Rewards and a More Comfortable Sea Exploration

Defeating the Griegers and taking back the island will net you various rewards based on your rank. In addition, you will then be able to use the recaptured island as a fast travel point, and reveal details about the area around the island on your map. You’ll be able to explore Obelia Bay much more efficiently.

■ The Scroll of Hugill

While at sea on the Sandras, the raven Hugill will at times bring scrolls to Adol and his group. The contents vary, such as scrolls sent to Adol and Karja from the Balta Navy, or calls for help from people around Obelia Bay. Depending on what is written, it is possible to accept a request at Obelia Bay in the middle of your adventure as quest for a sub-story.
