honestly the entire episode was complete perfection — but the highlight for me was most definitely sun-jae's face just LIGHTING UP every time he sees sol / thinks she's being adorably wacky.

byeon woo-seok does such a wonderful job expressing utter adoration through his eyes and eyes alone — it's the mark of a great actor to be able to communicate volumes with just your gaze and he's absolutely acing it: the infatuation, the tenderness, the sheer wonder in his face every time he really looks at sol — all of it is just flawless!

there's this phrase in my native language that roughly translates to "my own little piece of the moon," and that's EXACTLY how sunjae looks at sol — like she's his own little piece of the moon. 🌙🤍

everyone deserves to be looked at that way at least once in their life. 🥰

my heart gets so full every time he hides his smile from sol when she's giving him the attention he quite literally CRAVES from her. he's so helplessly in love!

(sun-jae scribbling out how many januarys it'll take to reach the one in 2023 was such a cute little touch — the rivalry between him and tae-sung was funny too.)

of course we also have the attempted murder/serial killer plot underway (would it really be a rom-com kdrama without it??) but i'm glad they only spent a few minutes on that and the focus of the episode was on our soljae couple.

something tells me since tonight's ep was so wholesome, tomorrow's will rip our hearts out ;_;

but i have high expectations for this show and really hope that they're able to keep this momentum and quality until the very end.

I have this recurring issue with rom com dramas that I always get bored post episode 10. Like in revenge, historical, or fantasy usually the romance isn’t the central plot so I’m still invested after the couple gets together

I dunno, it just always feels like they’re throwing stuff at the wall in those last few episodes, might honestly be better when they’re just 12 or 10 episodes tbh

i'm back to fixate on this moment, again.

look at how sunjae's expression completely transforms once he realizes that sol DOES love him as much, (if not more than) he loves her. that he's not just a problem to be rid of, for her; not an uncomfortable experience, or a traumatic memory.

he's wonderstruck at this epiphany — you can see his whole face soften, his mouth tighten as he chokes back tears, his eyes sweeten (and sober) into dark honey. the only girl he's ever loved actually loves him BACK: has gone against fate to try and save him.

what is death in the face of such commitment?

i marvel at the spare beauty of this confession: it's not ornate, or flowery, or overly elaborate. it simply is — just like sunjae. just like his love for sol.

"please keep liking me," he says. "if i die saving you, that's fine with me." such plain, earnest sentences — yet staggering in their immensity. this is the simple, sweeping grace of sunjae's confession — it doesn't need to be dressed in pretty words. all it needs is to exist.

this is what sunjae means: live with me, love with me, and dying will be worth it. it will have been a privilege to die because of you — my last moments will have been in service of my love. all my time was yours anyway.

this, followed by the gentlest of all kisses, to seal their unspoken promise. a kiss they will both remember — because their universes finally align.

because they belong to each other.

[Lovely Runner eps 1-4]

i'm so in love with this Sol x Sunjae ship for how down bad both characters are for each other. for different reasons and in different ways, they've both loved each other since 19 and into their 30s. Sunjae saved Sol's life (physically and emotionally) and Sol is trying to save Sunjae's. their story is so cute and perfect BUT the thing that's throwing me off is the age difference. Adult Sol sees all of the students as kids, and herself as an adult in Teenage Sol's body, so she's shown zero romantic interest in any of the student boys, including Sunjae. IMO Teenage Sunjae and Adult Sol shouldn't date because of the age gap, and because a lot of why Sol loves Sunjae is because of things he hasn't done yet in the time-travel timeline. she loves Sunjae now because of the words he said to her when she was in the hospital, and how she knew him as an idol. she behaves the way she does around him because she knows his past and his future, all things time-travel timeline Sunjae didn't tell her. i hope their adult selves will be able to connect and "live together" 💗

but let's talk about TEENAGE SOL! she's so 2k8 teenage girlypop real. Teenage Sol is in love with Taesung, which is freaking TASTE if i've ever seen it, but i don't really think Taesung likes her? i don't know if Teenage Sol x Taesung is a thing that can work out, but i love both of them as individual characters and i really hope we get to see more of them. the whole plot going on with Taesung, Teenage Sol, and Gahyun (the girl who likes Taesung) is honestly so fun and interesting to me, i wish we got like credit scenes of them or something 😭 maybe like in the gaps between when Adult Sol goes back to the present, we could see how Teenage Sol navigates her life that's been taken over by the "evil spirit".
