My submission for the AWL fanworks contest in the Merry Matrimony category!

I think Rock shines the most as a love interest when you unexpectedly see his more shy and gentle side that he tries to hide behind showy, over the top antics, so I picked a concept to try and represent that kind of moment…. This would be a terrible arrangement to actually give someone, because I purposely chose flowers with some really negative meanings in floriography! (plus some flowers local to Forgotten Valley) But both the bouquet and the guy hidden behind them are what makes Rock who he is.

14. Clouds

He was often told to keep his head out of them, but it never stopped him. Staring up at the crisp, blue sky, Rock laid down in the sand and took in the sights before him. Forgotten Valley was not half as exciting as the city, and he was not shy about reminding his parents that every opportunity he got. Even Tei, his father, spoke with a particular fondness for their traveling days, and Rock couldn't help but wonder what kept them from traveling as often as they did when he was very young.

A frown grew on his lips as he realized the answer to his question was likely his birth. He often had fuzzy memories of exotic places and colorful skies and clear water that lingered in his dreams. As he stood up and dusted himself off, he turned to his side and saw his child napping beside him, their arms tucked behind their head, just like their father.

There are beautiful skies here... and I never saw anything as magical as the forest area right outside of the farm. He remembered his wedding with a blush - it had been perhaps the beginning of this change he was starting to feel - that perhaps the Valley wasn't as boring as he originally thought. On the farm, the air was clean, and the earth smelled fresh. It was fun to watch the crops grow and watch the animals go about their daily business. It also wasn't as if the beach wasn't too bad.

The cotton candy clouds turned a rosy hue and he looked up at them one last time fondly before turning to his child.

"Alright, little me, it's time to head back."

30 days of harvest moon day 12 - modern AU / childhood dream

i wanted to draw based on what we know of the bachelors’ childhoods… uh, mostly not very happy stuff it turns out

semi-explanations under the cut? (i want to leave some stuff unsaid)

rock’s … parents… outright say you’re the only person who’s ever been able to stand him if you progress his heart events, and even lou (who he seems to be the most fond of) thinks you’re a weirdo for spending time with him lmao

gustafa was bullied as a kid (in the original gamecube games) or didn’t have many friends as a kid (remake)

matt says you’re his first friend if you befriend him

gordy.. well…

as hard as i tried i couldn’t find literally anything about gordy’s childhood other than him getting into art as a teenager (and a throwaway line in the original game about his mom using wool clippers to cut his hair?) but i really really wanted to draw him again, so he’s kinda just chillin with these very sad boys. i got the feeling from his dialogue that he feels insecure about being quiet / shy, so i tried to incorporate that a little
