Friday evening. Robert stared at the news and nursed a beer. A feature piece on Aaron’s Dingle’s career on repeat as the main story of the sports coverage. Robert let out a slow breath and then took a long sip of the beer, hoping it would dull whatever coursed through him. Inevitably, the coverage mentioned Robert himself. The warnings for foul-mouthing the refs, though it was a while since he’d done that. The bad reputation. The woman in the bathroom. The scandal. The heartbroken ex-fiancée. Robert clenched his fist.

I have updated the teen AU. Entering: Edna Birch.

Edna stares at him, shocked, and then she swallows and tries to get her composure back. "The Lord moves in mysterious ways," she says with meaning.

"His ways suck," Aaron mutters under his breath, knowing that the whole argument is pointless anyway.

People like Edna aren't ready to admit they believe in fairy tales. He busies himself with the soldering again and not long after that Edna leaves the living room. He hears her rummaging in the kitchen and when she comes back, she carries a glass of water.

"You know, Aaron," she starts and her voice is calmer now. "When I was a young girl, I didn't think so much different from you." He stops and looks up at her, doubting her words. ‘Young girl Edna’ is impossible to imagine. "But life teaches you a lot of lessons and not all of them are pleasant." She looks out of the window again, but isn't focussing, eyes glazing over. "Some are hard and some will break your heart. And you'll struggle and quarrel with God and ask: 'Why me, Lord, why me?' But one day you'll get to the point where He makes you see that everything is meant for a reason."

Aaron silently stares back at her. It's obvious she's referring to a specific incident of her past and he wishes he knew what she was talking about.

Edna blinks a few times and clears her throat. Her attention shifts back to him and her bright green eyes are piercing him. "Even you will understand it, Aaron. Even you." Edna smiles sadly.

For my five I'm going to limit myself to Tarlos fics (because if I had to include robron too it would be too hard to pick just five)

Love and Lou Vet!Carlos AU. Carlos helping with the bull stuck in the car call, coming to the rescue for Buttercup,and Lou I and II make an appearance. I had a lot of fun with this, it's slightly unhinged, but I'm happy with the way it turned out.

The perfect costume Nancy is throwing a Halloween party, TK wants the perfect costumes for him and Carlos. Again, slightly unhinged but the amount of research i put into Carlos' costume will make your head spin so it goes on the list. Also if the LS wardrobe department could make this happen on screen, I would be very happy.

PS I love you TK gets a letter from Gwyn on his wedding day. It's a little sad, a little bittersweet, and I think I wrote it in an hour but I'm really happy with it. The prompt I wrote it for was "Letter" and PS I love you is one of my favourite books, so I couldn't NOT write it.

California My reverse bang fic. An AU where TK checks himself into rehab in California after his OD instead of going to Austin with Owen. I really struggled with it even though I LOVE the art it's based on and I got the idea the first time I saw it. But my mental health was kind of *fart noise* while writing it. Though in the end it's almost twice as long as it was supposed to be and I'm happy with the result and proud of myself for finishing it and not giving up.

Under arrest 5 times Carlos had to arrest a member of the 126 +1 time he got arrested himself. My first 5+1! After many, many, MANY rewrites this is the result and the +1 got a little out of hand and *again* - unhinged. I basically wrote the entire fic around the last few lines.

While the writers keep playing us, here are some future plots to consider after robert comes back (ryan HAS to comeback at this point ok? i wont accept anything else):

Post-prison Denial - Aaron cannot forgive Robert or accept that he is back; he shifts the blame for Liv's death from Chas to Robert because Robert LEFT THEM

Post-prison Blues - Robert deals with his PTSD badly which engages Aaron's redemption arc; he stays by Robert's side and helps him through it

Reunion 3.0 / Seb's return - Robert gets access to Seb (he comes to some sort of agreement with Rebecca or something happens to her offscreen whatever) and seeing Rob and Seb (their son!!) together in the village destroys any willpower Aaron still had to fight against his feelings for Robert

Wedding 3.0 - this needs no explanation

Surrogacy 2.0 - i dont actually mind them going there again if only to get them their Sugden-Dingle daughter

The Return of Andy Sugden - everything is going well for Robert and Aaron but Andy's return shakes things up; the farmboy that Jack Sugden caught Robert with back in the day is working with Andy now; so we get jealousy and misunderstandings and high drama in the Still-Madly-In-Love-Husband front (because that's Aaron innit) and Robert finally tells Vic and Andy about what happened with his dad when he was young.

Teen Seb Comes to Stay - Seb decides he wants to live with his dads at the village permanently (rewashed Liv plot i know but im making it easy for them!!) there are issues with his little sister at first but they get quickly resolved. Seb and his auntie Eve become thick as thieves and become the village nightmares

The Return of Adam Barton - because Aaron needs his mate back at some point and I doubt Vic will settle with anyone else ever

Robron vs Caleb - this just seems like it would be fun idk. it could have something to do with Seb because he is just like his dads and finds trouble everywhere which Robert and Aaron always have to solve in the end

Robert vs Kim&Andy - at this point in my AU Andy is with Kim (romantically or as business partners idc) because it serves the purpose of killing two birds with one stone so that Robert can finally FINALLY win back Home Farm

Robert Sugden's Regression - being in charge of Home Farm ofc changes Robert a bit and he starts to become the thing he fears most: his father. Cue him pushing his children and Aaron to the breaking point until, in true soap-fashion, they break up again. The kids split too. Aaron takes their daughter and Seb stays with Robert. And this ofc leads to:

The Parent Trap: Robron Edition - Seb and his sister plot to get their dads back together through a series of funny shenanigans, but then one of them gets seriously hurt in an accident (they should watch out for those evil farm animals amirite? or was it another drunk driver? only the soap gods know) so all the progress they made crumbles. Aaron and Robert blame each other and seem broken up for good

The Biggest Mugs In The World - Aaron and Robert try to prove to themselves and their kids that they dont want anything to do with each other but every time Aaron sends Robert his divorce papers Robert 'misplaces them' until Aaron finds out Robert has been ripping them apart and chucking them into his fancy fireplace. They fight about Robert being a control freak and Aaron a jealous queen, because every person Robert has flirted with since they separated has ended up fleeing the village with their tail tucked between their legs (Aaron made sure of it). This goes on until they have angry make up sex and then hate themselves for it.

Reunion 4.0 - *PROBLEMATIC PLOT ALERT* Seb and Eve become romantically involved and try to hide it from their families (aunt and nephew fits the Dingle lore somehow lmao). When they are found out Robert goes apeshit and casts Seb out of the village (like his dad did to him once) but he and Seb are at The Layby and before Robert can make the biggest mistake of his life, the love of his life arrives just in time to stop him. Robert realizes what he has become and decides to leave Emmerdale himself (after all, he was always the disaster, the one unable to make anybody happy, he should have never comeback etc) but Aaron won't have it. They can't live without each other, and that fact has never been clearer than at that very moment (shot to a teary-eyed Seb behind Aaron). Robert begs for forgiveness and Aaron just scoffs because forgiving Robert is the easiest thing in the world. They had promised each other messed up forever, had they not?

I have updated the medieval AU.

“I brought the mood down,” he sighed, ignoring what his friend had said.

“Well, that is nothing new,” Robert teased and released him. A playful smirk tugged on the corners of his mouth, it was obvious he wanted to ease the sadness and cheer Aaron up.

Hiding how much he missed the comforting embrace immediately, Aaron shoved Robert playfully and his friend shoved back. Aaron pushed him again, a bit harder this time. Robert’s jaw dropped and he bristled.

“Provoking your Crown Prince?” he asked and just like that the atmosphere had shifted into something bright and giggly.

“Oh, the Crown Prince …!” Aaron mocked him, grinning and made a ridiculous bow.

“How dare you!” Robert shrieked, bent down and grabbed a handful of fallen leaves to throw at Aaron.

The leaves hit his chest and fell down, softly rustling. He raised his eyebrows in return and snorted. Then he yelled “ow, ow, ow” dramatically and pressed his palm against his chest.

Only a heartbeat later they were throwing leaves and branches at each other, basically everything they could reach at the floor like back in the days when they were children. It was that silliness Aaron had craved. His heart felt finally light again and he laughed until his belly hurt.

“Truce!” Robert held his hands up, panting. “Truce!” His blond hair was all over the place and tiny chunks of soil and twigs were sticking to it.

I do! Even though I don't always have anything worthwhile to say, I try and reply to them all to say thank you and let people know how much I appreciate it. Sometimes I forget or I miss a few but I try!

There is here at the wayside which is ben/callum in an imagined affair era. My soaps fandoms are probably the only ones I've written angsty endings for haha

There are so many, too many to mention. I much prefer happier endings haha.

nah, only some dumb comments from the infamous 'ds anon'who doesn't like ray kowalski.

I have more recently, and a few PWPs but I fail at writing anything without feelings.

No, I've never done any crossovers. But I don't read them very much either so. Not really my thing.

Yes! I've had a few translated into Chinese, Russian, and Italian. I think that's all?

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

I did co-write a story in the jongens fandom, called Count on Me. It was a very strange but lovely experience!

It's difficult to choose between mcdanno, and fraser/ray k. I love ballum and robron, too, but the others endure through so much. definitely my otps.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I don't have any WIPS that I've posted but I have a ton of unfinished stories in my documents. a due south au, a midsomer murder futurefic and an sga fic that I particularly like all of but I just can't write any more. hopefully it will come back one day.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Dialogue and turns of phrase.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Descriptive passages and setting up scenes.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I've done it before but usually only a word here and there, not big blocks. I'd have to talk to a native speaker about it, and get a good beta, if I was doing that.

I think it was Harry Potter.

I'm a fan of outside the lines and like to reread it now and then!
