Omg now I gotta tell you abt sims 3 lore cause it's just as wacko as the sims 2 sometimes the bayless fam are from twinbrook which is a bayou based world so very country the town is divided into a rich part and a poor part and the poorer side is very trailer park
Yes, please feel free to share about the Sims 3 lore!
That's what I read; it came with the Ambitions pack, the name is likely a reference to the rivers that split the poor part of town and the rich part of town, but that's all I know! The Bayou thing checks out with the aesthetic of the Bayless family though, I understand the camo and outdoorsy look better.
GOD what I wouldn't give to have actual trailer parks in the Sims 4.

Dear David...
If you’ve kept up with The Krazy Crazy Life of Kassiopeia Fullbright, you’ll know about the appearance of the Bayless family from Twinbrook. If not, then, ***minor spoiler alert!***
Davis Lamar is related to them... a.k.a. David Bayless. Arc 34, Remembering, briefly features the Bayless family. I decided to share some stills from my gameplay for fun.
Tumblr media
Avery Bayless (14)  is rather angry that the soda machine ate her simoleons. She really hoped for a refreshing drink after school.
Dear David, I really hate this blasted machine! I wish you were here to reach up with your long arms and grab the cola.
Tumblr media
Frustrated, Avery gives up and comes home to play ball with her brother, Taye on their Bayuck swamp farm.
The days and nights kinda blend together, but every night, Taye and I play ball. It’s kinda nice. I know he wouldn’t admit it but he’s grown to be handsome while you’ve been gone... er... except for those ears!
Tumblr media
Taye Bayless (17) tosses a baseball with his sister, Avery near the swamp. Hes taking a break from studying for exams, and he adores his kid sister.
At least I can wear my hair long to cover mine. The girls at school still make fun of me. I don’t know if I can ever show my face again there after falling flat on my pimply nose while trying to get that blasted cola!
Tumblr media
Avery and Taye play ball in the yard near the water tower that provides fresh water for the Bayless family. Also Avery’s sporting her rainboots since the ground can be quite mushy in the swamps. Avery shares a special relationship with Taye as they both love the outdoors and are active.
But here on the farm, I can just be goofy self and laugh and play in the yard. No one’s gonna see me with all this swamp grass ‘round. Don’t feel like you gotta write back. It’s just stupid stuff here, really. Don’t even know howta end so bye, I guess. ~ Aves
Tumblr media
Skye Bayless (16) plays the bass much like their older half-brother, Davis. They also have a flamboyant style. In game, when Skye aged up from toddler to child, they had a feminine hairstyle, and when they aged up to teen, Skye was actually wearing a dress. I decided Skye is gender fluid as the game encouraged me, preferring they/their as pronouns. Look at the pure joy on their face!
Evening hangs in sultry skies; the heat of sweetgrass swaying in the sweaty breeze. The scent of sun-soaked tea tickles my nose and tempts me away from practice. I ponder little and then I play the love song only Bayucks know and beat my foot upon the porch wood. I strum the notes you taught me b’fore and think of the soft twangs on a sweltering night that barely scratch the sky for which I’m named.
Tumblr media
Skye shares a room with their older brother, Taye. Taye is a studious kid and is looking forward to university and getting out of the backwater swamp. Here he practicing writing his speech.
How do I start? I miss you sounds trite. I love you sounds stupid. But I do, mmkay? Uni apps are due soon and M’as breathi’n down’em my neck, but ya know...what she dont’ realize is I really wanna go and be out there in the world. And somehow I know its tough for ya’s now, but you make it seem okay... that the world aint so scary if you can face everythin’g that’s you have and still come out okay. So hang on... oh and um... when you get home... I still need help with apos’trophes. - Love, Taye (and yeah, Im cool with mushyness but dont’cha tell Ma).
Tumblr media
Little River (5) Bayless is sad. She misses her big brother very much. She also lost her doll somewhere and fears the dog took off and buried it somewhere in the swamp.
Dear David, I miss you. I love you. My dolly is gone. I think the dog took it. I think the dog put it in the yard in the ground. I wish you was here. We could dig it up to...to...too...(it’s a big word - Chase helped me). together. ~ River
Tumblr media
Shepherd Skeet Bayless may live in the Bayuck swamp, but he’s far from backward. True, he prefers the simple life, but he takes pride in his swamp farming skills. Here he tends to the sweetgrass his family has grown for generations and practices his sermons. After all, plants are very good listeners.
Son, I miss you. We can’t wait for you to be home. I think it would be good to spend time in the garden together. Plants have a healing nature to them. After all, the Good Lord gave us a garden to tend to give us purpose and a place. Enclosed are my notes from my latest sermon, some psalms, and a few of your favorite hymns. I’ve taken to preaching to the plants. I know it’s dumb, probably, but they listen. I hope you’ll listen and know that you just get well and get home soon, okay?
Tumblr media
At twilight, Chase Bayless (19), all grown up, and capturing the land she calls home on the canvas. It’s a cooler evening than most, the mists of the swamp rising up to provide some low haze. She’s home on break from uni, an Education major, and she took up painting to unwind.
Dear David, I don’t want you to worry about me. Shark Racket broke my heart all those years ago and I know how angry you were. But today he brought me a cake. He dropped it off on the porch and ran away like a sissy, but I saw him through the curtains. I think he heard about your situation somehow. Townsfolk talk. The parishoners whisper among themselves on Sundays and I don’t like it. But you don’t need to worry about it. I’ll bop any of ‘em on the nose if they speak badly about you.
Tumblr media
Ma Bayless... Gwayne, that is, has enchantress abilities. She hoped at least one of her children would inherit her supernatural genes, but alas! No matter how many kids she popped out, not one of them is “special.” She takes out her frustrations by crafting potions (legal and illegal) in the attic of the Bayless Manor.
Ma’am’s spendin’ most nights in the attic. I don’t think she’d admit it, but she feels guilty. She’s working on the perfect stress potion. She says it’s for her, but I don’t think so. I hear her mumblin’ to herself, hissing at herself, and she says your name a lot and that she’s uh... failed you. Don’t tell her I said that. She’d probably wring my neck like a spring chicken.
Tumblr media
Avery, like her siblings, Davis and Skye, loves music. It brings a smile to her face every time she can tickle the ivories in the evenings. What southern home is complete without a family music room?
The armless statue of the goddess Veni offends Pa Bayless, but Chase brought the beauty back from her studies abroad in Sim Union. After three days of arguing, Gwayne finally convinced her husband to keep the peace and allow the lady to be on display.
Did I tell you I got to study abroad? You aren’t the only Bayless to travel now, big brother. I betcha can see my smile. I can still try and one up you, ya know? I spent some time in Championne, in the City of Lights. Oh it was beautiful! I wish you could’ve seen all the art and culture and that you could taste the scones. I’ll make you some when you return. You still like blueberries, right?
I’ve enclosed some of my silly scribblings from the trip. I hope you don’t mind. Tonight I’m painting on the porch. I can hear Skye and Avery both play different songs, and yet somehow they blend so beautifully. I think you’ve inspired them.
Tumblr media
When she isn’t enchanting, Gwayne likes to feel the earth between her fingers. After all, an enchantress has a special relationship with nature. It’s the only time she can be “free” and doesn’t feel the pressures of motherhood and her business management career.
And Ma’am too. You know she loves you in her own way. She spends more time in the garden now than she ever did, in the section we used to call yours. She’s trying to cut back on her hours at city hall. I think she misses you. But yeah, don’t tell her I said it. This is our secret.
Tumblr media
Taye gets in a late night workout in a dark corner of the attic. He really wants to grow out of the “skinny boy” stereotype. Alas! I don’t think he’ll grow into those ears!
Taye’s upstairs now fighting on the weight machine like you always did. He’s determined not to be so scrawny anymore.
Tumblr media
In the backyard, River plays pirate in the treehouse. Land Ho!
And River... I caught her in the treehouse you built with her and Pa tonight. She sleeps out there most nights, playing pirate into the wee morning hours. She says she’s lookin’ out for you over the Gulf. You’ve got a guardian angel you know that? Well, I should sleep. I’ve got an online class in the morning and I need my beauty rest. I hope you’re hanging in there. Hurry home. ~ Yours, Chase
Hope you enjoyed!
(The arc itself is NSFW, but if you want to read the chapters featuring the Bayless family directly/indirectly, you can read Unyielding and Unexpected.)

If you’re reading this, I’m coming back to Chicago, beetch
Tumblr media
The non-existent rumors are true. After a brief 10-month exit from the city to soak up the fresh air and social distance-friendly suburbs, I am now returning to Chicago as a single, slightly more anxious version of myself. While I’m still trying to kick some of the anxiety and OCD that COVID-19 pushed from “lifelong tagalongs” to “all-controlling demons”, I feel 97% ready to be back where I feel most myself, and cannot wait to welcome that change. While that 3% still makes me a little uncomfy and hesitant, I’m a believer in pushing your boundaries to allow yourself to grow, and also, I am really sick of suburbs food.
Ha! I joke. I wouldn’t move downtown simply for access to more diverse & higher quality food... or would I? All I know is while there are plenty of gems in the North Shore, I’ve eaten take out from all of them ten times over, and I did not foster my dislike of cooking out of nowhere. My parents do not enjoy cooking, my sister pretends to enjoy cooking, and I will cook if it is 5 ingredients or less. My latest speciality is a toasted bagel with butter, hummus, and EBTB seasoning. Voila. So when it comes to dinner, we are living off of a carousel of suburban favorites, and are losing steam as we are still not comfortable with dining inside (or dining inside in the city, where the fun food is).
All of this to say, it’s exciting to imagine what life is going to be like in a few short weeks. While I’m still extra precautionary, I can’t wait to have my own space downtown, where I can enjoy coffee on my little balcony (!!!) and dream of the days friends can come squeeze into my studio safely while I lay out an entire table of sharable spreads and snacks from Ema (Charred Eggplant Spread is the best one, don’t fight me).
So you may ask, how did you come to this decision to move to the heart of downtown out of seemingly nowhere, you hermit?
It starts with my mom and I having a brief, simultaneous breakdown and coming to the conclusion that we would both feel comfortable doing a staycation downtown, as long as we wore masks, sanitized always, and braved the cold to eat outside. This was big for me! As a person with real OCD, not cute TV show “I have to keep my pens straight” OCD, this would be the most exposure I’d had to a lot of uncontrollable variables since the pandemic started. If you’re thinking, “you get to spend a weekend downtown in a hotel with your mom, shut up”, know that I hear you. I am unbelievably grateful that I’ve gotten this time with my parents, and that we can do a staycation. However, having anxiety comes at a cost, and that cost is blowing everything way the fuck out of proportion instead of being able to rationalize it sometimes. Let’s! Normalize! Having! This! Discussion!
So, we went downtown in early March for a two-night stay, and oh my goodness. The realization that we got to be in a different space, and do different things, and eat different food for a weekend made it feel like a legit vacation, and not like we drove 30 minutes to get there. The view from our room was of Michigan Ave, and hearing the traffic and seeing the people out and about instantly made me feel a sense of peace I wasn’t expecting. I’ve lived downtown for 6 years, but it always shocks me how much the city feels like an extension of me once I’m in it after being away. My mom and I went out for a walk (gentle yet forceful reminder to please wear a mask), then decided to grab dinner while we were out. The plan was to bring it back to the room, but there was a warm spell, and there just happened to be a table for two at Topolobampo on Clark, and suddenly we were sitting on the patio under the lights eating masa quesadillas dipped in a spicy salsa verde. It just happened!!!
Before getting downtown, I was tentatively looking at apartments for the spring. I was looking at Lincoln Park, Old Town, maybe Lakeview, and came across a listing in the Gold Cost that caught my eye. That one was swiped out from under me within days, but I couldn’t stop thinking about the area. Then I discovered another unit that was available, and couldn’t shake it from my mind. Over mushroom tacos I discussed it with my mom, and we decided to go see it. Totally not what I had been planning for in terms of location, but why not?
Tumblr media
Once we polished off breakfast the next morning (Eggs Benedict with fried eggs, extra hollandaise) we headed out to see the place. Let me say I have never seen my mom fall in love with a single apartment I’ve lived in, and she was ALL. FOR. IT. Unreal reaction on her part. Once I saw the west-facing views and the incredible natural lighting, I was 100% in as well.
We spent the rest of the weekend wandering the downtown area, enjoying another dinner outside at The Gwen and my mom’s first visit to the Starbucks Reserve Roastery, which was 95% more empty than I’ve ever seen it given we went in a pandemic at 8:30PM. Shit on Starbucks all you want, but that Roastery is an incredible use of space (in non-pandemic times) and the coffee & Princi pastries are really, really good.
When we got back home feeling refreshed and like we had actually gone on a vacation, I jumped into apartment shark mode real fast and signed as many documents as the very kind realtor could send over. One week later, whabaam, I was a Gold Coast girl. Ahem, *lady*. What better way to celebrate than going to Somerset and having the Rapini & Roasted Garlic Flatbread and Wild Mushroom Risotto? No clue. As I sat outside, yet again with my mom, I felt a wave of excitement come over me and realized, this is it. This is the sign and feeling I’ve been waiting for, telling me it’s time to move back to the city and start over. The creamy, herbacious risotto also helped solidify that.
SO. After all of that, the news is I’m moving, and you’re probably wondering why I shared all of this on a blog about food. I meant for this post to be about everywhere I ate during my staycation, but realized quickly we ate at some very basic places - DELICIOUS, but still basic. Oops. Below are all the dishes I had and a rundown of the flavors, textures, etc., however don’t expect to find any new, revolutionary restaurants. Sorry!
1. Topolobampo
This Rick Bayless restaurant has been around forever, and unfortunately, you can tell by the interior. We’ve eaten here as a family a couple of times before, but never had a noteworthy experience. I can confirm that in a pinch, the patio covered in fun lights & mini piñatas, and the sharable, filling bites will do just fine. This was my first time going to a Mexican restaurant as a non-alcohol drinker, and instead of my typical mezcal margarita, I opted for a Fresh Limeaide which was refreshing and flavorful. We split the Guacamole and Chips, which if you’ve ever stopped at the Frontera in O’Hare, you know is good as fuck. It’s smooth, creamy, tangy, and topped with chopped onions and cilantro for a little crunch. It’s not the most life-changing, but it is consistently satisfying. Next, we got the Mushroom Tacos and Masa Quesadillas. The Masa Quesadillas were a fun surprise, as instead of a tortilla, the masa is what makes up the outside. They are almost like empanadas and stuffed with gooey, melty cheese, and come with a spicy salsa verde on the side. I would come back for these alone - they’re rich yet light, warm, and comforting, all the things you would want when dining outside when it’s still a little chilly. The Mushroom Tacos were quite frankly unreal, because whatever they seasoned the mushroom slices with and grilled them on made them taste unlike any mushroom I’ve had before. There was definitely some meat crossover on the grill, so don’t order those if you’re vegan, or ask them to prepare the mushroom separately. I however was LOSING MY MIND. Over mushrooms. The joys of being vegetarian!
Tumblr media
2. The Gwen
On a happening Saturday night in Chicago, Upstairs at The Gwen is sure to be a packed scene. Located in River North, this hotel bar/restaurant offers a somehow cozy rooftop filled with loungey couches, fire pits, and ambient lighting, even though you’re surrounded by apartments and skyscrapers and there is nothing “cozy” about River North. Every table was filled, yet since you’re outside and it’s fairy spread apart, it still felt safe. I got my new classic, a Lemonade, and we got the Burrata to start. With sourdough, roasted beets, squash, pomegranate, pistachio, & arugula, this plate was nothing short of mouth-watering. It has textures! It has flavors! It has pomegranate seeds, the TikTok must have of the moment! The bread was 10/10, the burrata was 8/10, and all of the toppings made for a very find bite of salad on their own. For my main I got the Lobster Fettucine, a beautiful bowl of “charcoal fettuccine with saffron-tomato sauce, lobster, calabrian chili butter, and basil-brioche crumbs” as listed on their website. Take any of those ingredients and it’s going to be delicious, but all of them TOGETHER? INCREDIBLE. The chunks of lobster were huge, absolutely making the dish worth its price tag, and the sauce was flavorful, unique, and unlike any sauce I’ve tasted in the last few years. It’s typical to do a squid ink pasta with seafood and tomato sauce, but the saffron added a new element I very much appreciated.
Tumblr media
3. The Starbucks Roastery
I KNOW. THIS IS A TOURIST DESTINATION. All I am saying is if there’s no line, go get an iced latte with two packets of sugar in the raw. That’s all. It’s really good after something like, I don’t know, Lobster Fettucine.
4. The Penninsula
You cannot go wrong with hitting up The Penninsula for breakfast or brunch, especially if you are staying there and have the option to do room service. Typically we would go to Pierrot Gourmet, the cafe in the ground floor of The Penninsula, however it has been closed temporarily. If there’s one thing to order with your breakfast, it’s the smashed fingerling potatoes. Delish.
5. Somerset
Somerset is becoming a quick go-to of mine for an impromptu dinner downtown, given it’s in the heart of Gold Coast and is cute if you’re sitting indoors or outdoors. The food is nothing too innovative, but it is done well, which is the most important part with “cuter” restaurants that may focus on the Instagram appeal over the food sometimes. Each time I’ve gone I’ve gotten the seasonal flatbread and a pasta or risotto, usually something with mushrooms, and it’s always been plate-licking good. To drink, I got -you guessed it- a Lemonade! For dinner I went with the Wild Mushroom Risotto which was everything you could hope for in a risotto, topped with olive oil, herbs, and local parmesan. We split the Rapini & Roasted Garlic Flatbread which was as it sounds, flatbread covered in rapini, garlic, and ricotta, which added a nice crunch and had enough rapini to feel like it was replacing a boring vegetable side dish or salad. The patio vibes were wonderful, the judgemental girls in the greenhouses looked like they were having a good time, and our waiter couldn’t have been sweeter. I will be going back to try the Fontina Arancini, which I just noticed on the menu. FRICK.
So there you have it, a very long-winded explanation of the last few weeks of my life and where you can find me on a staycation in Chicago. Hopefully once I move back to the city I’ll have endless new spots to try and won’t be basic anymore!
Until next time, Happy Eating!
-Natalie

Trying to fiddle around a bit with families from worlds other than Sunset Valley, and naturally I had to start with the Bayless family. Skeet (What an... interesting name.) Is a self-employed fisherman, while his wife works on her writing career. The kids are SUFFERING hardcore, every day from exhaustion. Chase wanted a part-time job and she’s paying for it now. Also, meet another beautiful Bayless spawn, River!

A save I really miss is my Twinbrook Legacy, from the remains of which I developed the McCarrics. This is Rosanne’s half-sister River Bayless with her faithful dog McSpot.
(Sorry for the randomness - what I’m actually doing is looking for a new blogbackground :)

Generation 1 - Chapter 13: Life Goes On For The Living
They held Skeet’s funerals shortly thereafter. The buried him in the land, near the river he liked so much in his youth. The whole Bayless family was there: Chase, Tay, and his wife Zo. Adora had aged up quietly the night of the funeral, but everyone was too sad to celebrate her birthday.
Tumblr media
Taiga dressed her in mourning wear, even though Adora was too young to understand what was going on. She didn’t understand her father was dead, and she would just happily giggle, not getting why everyone looked so sad.
Tumblr media
Even though she was one now, she still had baby hair. She looked a lot like her father. She had brown hair, and dark blue eyes.
Tay and Taiga were the most affected by the tragedy. After the ceremony, they spent a lot of times mourning on his grave, ignoring the snow that stormed around them and the bitterly cold.
Tumblr media
Taiga was very pregnant at this point, and she was not sure she would be able to cope with three kids on her own. She expressed her concerns out loud, and Tay took her in his arms, allowing her to cry on his shoulder.
“I’ll try to help you out as much as I can. You’re family now, I won’t let you guys down.”
Tumblr media
And he did. From that day, he came over a lot to help her with the kids. When Taiga went into labor, he was there to help!
Tumblr media
Taiga gave birth to a little boy she named Steve. He was born a loner just like his older sister, and he loved the outdoor. It was 1837 - he would make a perfect Romantic, she thought.
Tumblr media
She put him on a crib right next to his sister. Things went better than she expected. Ami was old enough to do everything Taiga couldn’t do in the house because she still needed to tend her garden in order to feed her three children, and Tay was always there to care for the babies. He even taught Adora to walk!
Tumblr media
Tay looked a lot like Skeet, only the hair were different, and when Adora started to talk, she would call him “Father”. Tay would laugh and say that he was not her father but her half-brother, but Adora would just look at him, confused, and he would not insist.
When Tay was not around, Ami would take care of her little brother and sister - with the help of her imaginary friend Pal of course!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She had changed her mind about the Bayless family. Her father was, and would always be to her a despicable and traitorous coward, but her half-sister turned up to be a very decent woman, and her half-brother had proven to be someone you could count on.
With all of her family members helping her, Taiga even managed to save some free time for her, and she would practice her martial arts’ skills on the garden. She found out it had a very relaxing effect on her, she would always be calmer afterwards. Since she was starting to be good at it, she dreamt of taking part in a competition, but she needed to travel to China in order to do this, and she didn’t want to put so much money on hobbies - she remembered too well what it was to be poor, and she hadn’t put enough money aside for this.
Tumblr media
Steve aged up in the middle of spring, under the benevolent eyes of Tay. Taiga had thrown a little party for him
Tumblr media
Steve looked like both of his parents. He had the same ears and dark blue eyes as his father, but his face was his mother’s. He had black hair, and, just as Ami’s blond hair, no one knew who it was coming from.
Tumblr media
Adora and Steve were only eleven months apart, so they were just like twins!
Tumblr media
Tay had bought a puppet to Steve for his birthday, and he would spent his whole time playing with it. Adora had no toys and she was envious...
Tumblr media
Pal wasn’t fond of hearing baby crying all day long, so he would often get pissed off and take it out on Ami. They wouldn’t stop fighting because he was jealous she would spend so much time caring for her siblings instead of him. It was a crime of lese-majesty! To punish her, he turned back into a puppet and refused to talk to Ami for a while. Adora found him, and started to play with him. Ami was hurt, but she decided not to give him too much power over her and ignore him. She was too old for imaginary friends anyway...
Tumblr media
It was almost Adora’s birthday. Neither Chase nor Tay were available, so Taiga decided they would spend a nice day together at the art gallery, and then eat the home-made cake that Ami had baked. But when they got home from their walk, Adora couldn’t wait for the cake and aged up right on the perron! Taiga was a little pissed-off because it didn’t go as she had planned.
Tumblr media
Adora really hated the art gallery. She decided she couldn’t stand art, and she swore she’d never step inside of this kind of place anymore.
She was not as cute as her sister, but at least she had hair at last! She looked more than her father than ever. She had finally understood that Tay was not her father, and with that realization came the fact that she started to miss Skeet.
Tumblr media
She had indeed been the favorite child of Skeet - he was not there during Ami’s childhood, and he was already dead when Steve was born. One night, she had a dream - or was it real? She dreamt that her father was here, sat on her bed, read a bedtime story to her, but she felt asleep before she could hear the end.
Tumblr media
The next morning, she jumped off her bed, took the same book her father had been reading in her dream from the bookshelf, and started to read it. She knew those words, it was the same story! But how could that be? She had never read that book before... Whatever the truth of the matter, this event gave her a love for books and everyday, when she came back from school, she would read something different.
Tumblr media
As for Ami, now that Adora was a child a could take care of herself, she finally had time for horse riding. She even started to take part in beginner races, and as you can tell by all her trophies, she was good at it!
Tumblr media
She rode so much she even got in trouble for it. Ami still had a curfew: she was supposed to be home for supper. One evening, she lost track of time and got home after the curfew...
“You can’t do this, Ami! What if something happened to you? Don’t you know that I was worried? I’m sorry, but you’re grounded. I don’t want you to ride that horse anymore until I tell you otherwise. You need to learn, Ami. You’re almost eighteen, you need to learn to behave like an adult. You won’t be able to freely ride across the swamps all your life. I want you more in the house, and less with the horses. Listen, I wanted to wait before I tell you this... But I’m trying to figure out who, between you and your sister, will be the most suitable heiress. If you want to be the heiress, you need to act more responsible.”
Tumblr media
Ami got really thoughtful, her mother’s words echoing in her head. The heiress. Someone, between her and her sister, would need to carry on her mother’s legacy. The other one will need to leave the family house and live her own life. Ami never really thought about what she wanted to do when she was older. What did she like? She loved horses. Maybe she could be a horsewoman. She had already won all those races, and she was pretty good at it. And with the money she would won, she could open a sanctuary for stray horses. But being the head of a legacy would also mean she would need to get married and have children of her own... She didn’t know anyone except from her family, and for now, she was not interested in getting married at all.
Tumblr media
Even though she preferred horses, she was pretty good with kids. She was great at taking care of her siblings. As for Adora, even though she was lazy and preferred to read and stay inside, she was indeed friendly and people liked her. She was quite a sociable kid, and surely she would have no trouble finding a husband to continue the family line.
The day before her birthday, she was taking care of Steve while Adora was playing on the perron when her mother came to them.
“Girls, I have news. I’m past forty, I’m growing old and I won’t live forever.
- You’re not old, Mother! protested Adora.
- You’re cute. Listen. I think I have decided who will be my heiress. Remember that the one I won’t choose will always be part of this family: it just means she will be more free than the heiress. Whatever happens, please don’t be disappointed. I’ll make an announcement tomorrow. I want to invite the family.
- But I don’t want a birthday party, said Ami.
- The party won’t be for your birthday, but for the announcement.
- Alright then, she sighed.
- And Ami? You’re not grounded anymore. You can go to your horse.
- Thank you, Mother!”
Tumblr media
Ami didn’t sleep well that night. She felt anxious about her mother decision, and she didn’t even know if she wanted to be the heiress or not! Whatever happened, her life will be definitely changed.

Get To Know My Playstyle
We’ve seen the Get to Know Me post going around and it’s really cute so here’s one for us Simmers that’s more our style.
Saw this in @moocha-muses blog. Not waiting to get tagged.
Family size at the start:
Four on average. I love playing blended families and set up households respectively pick my premades (Brandi/Darren!) accordingly. A variant of this approach is starting with roommates (military, prison, orphans, explorers, street gang, castaways, ...). It’s so satisfying to see them all found families of their own later on and populate the neighborhood with a network of old friends!
The Lifespan of my sims:
Sims 2: Default lifespan with 48 hour uni semesters. Sims 4: Aging is off in the mainsave and it went from covering one generation per rl year to an almost real-time progression. For the side-saves either aging off, too, or short lifespan.
Favorite family I have played:
The Shepards, through all generations Sims 2 and Sims 4! This is amplified by me marrying all my fav premades into the clan: the Travellers, the Picasos, the Newsons, the Villareal and the Renegades.
Honorary mention to the Reed-Chen-Phillips who enjoy massive favoritism while my Detroit phase lasts.
Am I a Malevolent or Benevolent God:
Major hypocrisy fodder here: Although my stories can turn pretty grim, most of the dark stuff happens in the screen captures only. The sims themselves usually have their needs in the green, their wants fulfilled and so on. One of the few things I loved about Sims 3 was that you could use the most efficient furniture while making it look incredibly uncomfortable and grungy.
So, definitely benevolent.
What I like best about the current version of Sims I play:
Although I consider Sims 2 the superior game, in practise I play Sims 4 about 80% of the time.
- CAS. No more restrictions to what outfit I can use on what gender and in what category (astronaut suits as swimwear for re-entry training comes to mind) is amazing, as is the Play with genetics feature that allows me to skip the genetic lottery whenever I want or have constellations like two females with a biological son.
- Easy swapping of sims between households where inventory objects get transfered (looking at you, Sims 3), but money doesn’t (looking at you, Sims 2).
- Semi-open world that allows me to go out collecting while at the same time not having to suffer through travel times to and from the work rabbitholes.
What I am most anticipating for the current version of the Sims:
Island Paradise, as I’ve been waiting for something like it for years.
Longterm I’m still stubbornly hoping for all bodies of water getting opened for swimming/wading (and I mean ALL oceans, lakes, rivers, creeks, canals and puddles). I know it’s not very likely.

6 NFL predictions for the 2021 season
Tumblr media
Six things that will definitely happen during the 2021 NFL season.
When it comes to predicting the NFL you might as well play the lottery using the birthdays of your dead ancestors. What I mean to say, albeit flippantly, is that I don’t really believe it’s possible to have supreme confidence that your football opinions will be proven correct in near future.
This business is one of calculated risks. Not only by teams hoping their draft pick and free agent gambles pay off, but trickling all the way down the system to people like me, your humble, portly sportswriter. See, we all know that hot takes help pay the bills. Brash, strong proclamations backed up by bravado and little more is what keeps guys like Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Smith front of mind. We’re all banking on one of two things:
A. You won’t call us out for our mistakes. B. We have an employer who doesn’t care how much we screw up, as long as it makes money.
Now look, I don’t hate the players dabbling in this game. It’s a hell of a racket to say something like “THE DENVER BRONCOS WILL NEVER MAKE THE PLAYOFFS FOR THE REST OF MY NATURAL LIFE!” knowing full well people either won’t remember it, or won’t care enough to follow through. The point I’m getting at is this: We’re all just guessing here, folks. Some of us are far more gifted than others, but no matter how much film, or deep into DVOA you dive, at the end of the day we’re all just hoping we can get a few things right. So, in honor of this proud tradition, I’m going to do the same. Here are my predictions for the upcoming season.
The Bills will take a step back
I know making a proclamation like this will anger upstate New Yorkers to the point of wanting to put my husky ass through a table, but honestly — it’s kind of a mark of respect.
I’m not saying that Buffalo won’t make the playoffs or anything dumb like that, it’s more that I just don’t see any way a 13-3 record holds in 2021. There are a few factors to this. Firstly, the rest of the AFC East has gotten much better than a year ago. Secondly, the Bills remain good, but didn’t didn’t do a ton to get much better. Thirdly, and most importantly, nobody is overlooking them in 2021.
This is the price you pay for making the transition from “very good” to “elite.” No longer are you a tough game on the schedule, you’re one that’s circled. Every team in the league has you earmarked to be their statement game, and like Baltimore and Kansas City before, so too the Bills will learn that sustaining success in the NFL is far more difficult than gaining it.
I fully believe Buffalo will return to the post season, and perhaps even make a run. I just don’t think it will be as dramatic as a year ago.
Matthew Stafford is going to surprise a lot of people
The seemingly lateral trade of Matthew Stafford for Jared Goff was one of the most remarkable NFL deals in recent memory. You just don’t see two teams with franchise quarterbacks decide they don’t like them anymore and look for greener grass in a new pasture.
When we look back in a few years I fully believe Detroit will have gotten the best of this deal, but the Rams are in win now mode (at least relatively speaking). Stafford had kind of fallen into anonymity ever since Calvin Johnson retired from the NFL. Gone were memories of elite Lions passing offenses, and he became relegated to a curious shrug. What I mean by this is that you’d look at end of season passing records and be like “Huh, I had no idea Matthew Stafford passed for 4,000 yards this year,” because he did, last year in Detroit — it’s just that nobody cares about the Lions outside of Michigan.
Now, in Los Angeles, with an elite defense and a host of solid receivers, I think we could see a bog-standard, effective Matthew Stafford season start to get treated like transcendent, only because he has a better cast around him. I think the Rams could surprise a lot of people, and while tough, the NFC West still feels up for grabs.
The Chargers will finally break free of their shackles of mediocrity
Staying in Los Angeles we have the Chargers, the Jan Brady of the NFL. Overlooked, forgotten, occasionally with an episode centering on her — and normally because she broke her sister’s nose. It’s been such a long time since the Chargers were relevant it harkens back to Philip Rivers and LaDanian Tomlinson, but I’m such a believer in Justin Herbert’s boyish good looks and arm that appears it was granted by Zeus himself that I think it’s time.
On paper the Chargers have everything a team needs to make a playoff run. They were far better than their 7-9 record showed a year ago. Naturally it’s going to be tough in a division where you have to play the Chiefs twice a year, but I honestly think this could be the season they finally put it all together.
If they don’t, well, i’ll just make this prediction again next year.
Mac Jones is going to anger everyone outside of New England
I said before the draft that Mac Jones wasn’t the best QB in the 2021 NFL Draft, far from it, but he was the ideal Patriots QB. Obviously Bill Belichick feels the same way, otherwise he wouldn’t have cut Cam Newton to clear the way for his rookie.
I don’t think Jones will have a remarkable statistical year, but I think it’s going to be good enough that New England is a threat, and by Week 6 we’re going to hear about Belichick’s genius at finding the next Tom Brady. I do not think Mac Jones is Tom Brady, but I think he will thrive in a system designed to minimize his mistakes.
It’s going to piss off everyone.
It’s going to be impossible to defend the Titans
This isn’t so much a prediction, as an honest to God question. How does a defensive coordinator find a way to cover A.J. Brown and Julio Jones on the outside, while respecting the run enough to contain Derrick Henry?
It’s a simple numbers game, and I still don’t have the answer to it. Far smarter people than I are making a small fortune to decode this enigma, but I do know defensive minds around the NFL are beyond glad they’re not in the AFC South and have to find an answer twice a season.
The NFC East will once again be decided by who wants to suck the least
It’ll probably be the Cowboys, because that’s the way things go, but I fully expect whoever comes out of the East will just delay the inevitable until they’re swallowed in the playoffs by a far better team.

RTARL’s 2020 NFL Season Week 1 Extravapalooza
Tumblr media
Two months ago, I really didn’t think the NFL would be kicking off this weekend as scheduled. You know, because of the ongoing viral pandemic that America has not at all managed to tamp down in any meaningful way. In hindsight, it was extremely naive of me to underestimate the coercive power of extremely lucrative television deals and non-guaranteed player contracts.
I don’t want to be a total downer and make it seem as though I’m not excited to watch the games, because I totally am. Football is and always will be a fucking blast to watch. It’s just that enjoying the NFL already requires a fair degree of mental bargaining and downright self-deception, and the possibility of COVID-19 tearing through an offensive line group comprised of men suffering from one of the worst comorbidities you can have with this disease (obesity) makes that calculus even more difficult.
These guys are all adults who have chosen to play, and they’re being well-compensated for their efforts. I get it. But, I still worry for them. Does the worry stem from genuine concern, or is it just that I don’t want to deal with feeling guilty down the line if somebody really does have their career cut short (or worse) due to playing a game for my entertainment during a society-wide health crisis? It’s a tough question to answer, honestly.
Anyway, let’s all form the online equivalent of a season-long prayer circle and hope that each and every one of these beefy boys makes it through without having their careers (or the lives of their loved ones and elderly coaches) drastically impacted by the effects of COVID-19. If a bunch of postponed games are the worst things that happen this season (Bill O’Brien’s playcalling notwithstanding), I’ll be a happy camper.
Now onto my dogshit picks! The picks are in BOLD, and the lines come to us courtesy of our friends at Vegas Insider. I use the “VI Consensus” line, which is the line that occurs most frequently across Vegas Insider’s list of sportsbooks. Your sportsbook of choice may offer a different number, and if you’d like my opinion on said number A) you are insane, and B) leave a comment below and I’ll try to answer at some point before kickoff today.
Tumblr media
Early Games
Miami Dolphins at New England Patriots (-7)
The Dolphins were exceptionally feisty toward the latter part of last season, and I see no reason why that won’t continue. Between the Patriots’ loss of defensive personnel due to Free Agency or COVID-19 opt-outs and Cam Newton’s adjustment period absent a preseason, I think this game’s gonna be a grind.
Cleveland Browns at Baltimore Ravens (-7.5)
As of this writing, it looks like the Browns are going to be down 3 DBs, a linebacker, and 3 offensive lineman. That’s not great, imo. I do expect them to be pretty good this year, though.
New York Jets at Buffalo Bills (-6.5)
My God, the Jets. If the players truly cared about winning they’d purposely get blown out in as many consecutive games as it takes to get Adam Gase fired. Josh Allen remains the league’s preeminent “Fuck it, I’m Chuckin’ it” player, and I love him for it.
Las Vegas Raiders (-3) at Carolina Panthers
Both quarterbacks in this game are risk-averse to a borderline detrimental degree. If you enjoy checkdowns and dumpoffs, this is the game for you.
Seattle Seahawks (-2) at Atlanta Falcons
I think barring an uncharacteristically shitty season, Russell Wilson is going to be this year’s MVP winner. The reason I think this is because there’s already a narrative building about the fact that it’s crazy that he’s never received an MVP vote despite being excellent for his entire career. The Falcons, with their impossibly shitty defense and loaded passing game, are going to be a solid place to spend your entertainment dollars this season.
Philadelphia Eagles (-5.5) at Washington Football Team
I’m picking Washington explicitly because Mina Kimes tweeted that this game would be close and who am I to question her? I was surprised to learn that Boston Scott was Philly’s starting RB and not Mark Wahlberg’s character in Ocean’s 14.
Chicago Bears at Detroit Lions (-2.5)
Matthew Stafford is one of my favorite players, and I do think the Lions will be in the playoff hunt this season. But for today, they’re down Kenny Golladay and Stafford hasn’t had a chance to knock the rust off in live action yet. The Bears D should be able to hold things down enough for the win here.
Indianapolis Colts (-8) at Jacksonville Jaguars
The Colts giving 8 seems insane to me. Sure, Jacksonville’s front office appears to be blatantly trying to field a losing team, but c’mon. They’ve still got the Minshew-Chark love connection, and the Colts are trying to break in a new QB in Phil Rivers.
Green Bay Packers at Minnesota Vikings (-2.5)
I really hope we get Rejuvenated Awesome Aaron Rodgers this season instead of Passive-Aggressive Counting Down the Days Until He’s Out of Town Aaron Rodgers. Kurt Cousins continues to entertain me one way or another, he’s the best.
Tumblr media
Late Games
Los Angeles Chargers (-3) at Cincinnati Bengals
Joe Burrow is such a cool dude. I’m rooting for him to be great, but the Bengals organization is going to make that as difficult as possible. I’m picking them to spring the mild upset on the Chargers, mostly because I’m a sucker.
Arizona Cardinals at San Francisco 49ers (-7)
This game, if it ends up taking place today, is going to be played in the middle of a goddamned inferno, Kane vs Undertaker style. On the plus side, the smoke coating the players’ lungs and airways should shield them from any coronavirus particles.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New Orleans Saints (-3.5)
Huh, Tampa has a new QB. It’ll probably be tough for them to gel offensively until later in the season, especially with Mike Evans already dealing with a balky hammy. The admirably loyal Drew Brees will lead his men to a big win today, much to the delight of his fanbase that he loves and would never hurt in any way.
SNF Game: Dallas Cowboys (-2.5) at Los Angeles Rams
Dak Prescott is such a weakling he was actually sad when his brother killed himself, meanwhile Jared Goff ate his twin brother in-utero. Advantage: Rams. Seriously though, fuck Skip Bayless.
MNF Game #1: Pittsburgh Steelers (-6) at New York Giants
Why do I think that Daniel Jones is going to be really good this year? I’m genuinely asking, I don’t know the answer. Someone please help me. Ben Roethlisberger looks alarmingly like a bloated corpse these days, so don’t be surprised if you see a certain Super Bowl winning QB-turned-analyst lurking on the Pittsburgh sideline.
MNF Game #2: Tennessee Titans (-3) at Denver Broncos
It really sucks that Von Miller suffered a season-ending injury during practice this week. I realize he’s probably on the downside of his career at this point, but whenever I see his name I immediately flash back to watching him absolutely destroy multiple O-lines and QBs in several different playoff games. Von Miller could suit up at age 50 against my team and I’d still be terrified of him. What an awesome player.

Generation 2 - Chapter 11: Forbidden Love
A few months later, Adora went into labor and it went actually very fast! Ami and Taiga didn’t even have the time to come for help.
Tumblr media
Calvin didn’t even wake up, he was too busy dreaming of the jobs he could have if he was looking for one... So Adora gave birth on her own to a neurotic little girl who loved the cold. She named her Jillian after Calvin’s dead mother.
Tumblr media
When he woke up - and found out he was now a father, Calvin ran to his daughter to meet her.
Tumblr media
“Why didn’t you wake me?!
- ... I was quite busy at the time. And loud, too.”
Adora was still sour that he didn't even wake up when she was giving birth in the same room he was in...
The whole family took care of Jillian. Taiga had moved her rocking chair from her fireplace to the nursery’s fireplace, and would spend time rocking while watching Jillian.
Tumblr media
Even Steve spent less time away from his fishes to care for his niece!
Tumblr media
The only one who wasn’t so enthusiastic was Ami. Jillian’s mere existence was a remembrance that Calvin was Adora’s husband... Otherwise she had no opinion about an other human in the house, which in fact she found quite crowded. And she already had five children anyway - her horses! When everyone was busy, she would even let Cady climb in the kitchen through the window...
Tumblr media
Steve’s life was going well. He spent all his time doing what he liked the most: fishing. He was a bit tired of the river though, he already had caught every variety that lived there and he wanted to catch something different. So he went at the pond, in the swamps. He didn’t know it was the drinking spot of a couple of wild horses, who really didn’t like being disturbed.
Tumblr media
They eventually got used to his presence, even though they weren’t happy about it. One day, one of the horses even got very close to him, but since they didn’t look aggressive Steve didn't mind.  The horse just watched him fishing until sunset, and then went back to their mate.
Tumblr media
Steve had mastered fishing, he had also completed his long-time wish, and he didn’t think it would stop him from doing what he liked...
Tumblr media
Unfortunately, Steve was unstable and psychiatry and psychology weren’t really something in 1850s Britain. When Steve had his first crisis, he couldn’t do anything about it since they were no cure yet. And he became an animal lover instead of a slob. He was now a fisherman who loved animals... It really was in contradiction with his love for fishing, and he had an existential crisis that stuck him home. He would barely eat anymore, and he rarely left his room.
Since all her family was caring for Jillian, Adora had time to work on her paper and she would do that upstairs. Ami would still spend a lot of time with Calvin, and one day, she confessed that she loved him.
Tumblr media
“I love you too”, he said, and they kissed. Ami knew it was wrong to do that to her own sister, but the guilt didn’t stop her.
Tumblr media
They became lover, and Ami would even spend less time with her horses to be with Calvin. They would hide into Taiga’s wardrobe to woohoo so no one would see them...
Tumblr media
She laughed the first time she saw Calvin naked (the first naked people she had seen of her life, actually): she didn’t expect men to be like that... But he didn’t take it bad and laughed about it too.
Tumblr media
Taiga’s guts were telling her that something was up. She had found some of her clothes off their coat-hanger, and Ami and Calvin were waaaay too much together. Adora didn’t notice because she was busy with their daughter and her papers, but she did, and she didn’t like it at all. So one day she came into the living room, sat and the couch, and tried to talk some sense into Calvin.
“Now listen carefully. I may be old, but I’m not blind. I see how you are with daughter Ami. I like you, Calvin, I really do, but if you hurt my daughters - the one you’re married to AND the one you’re flirting with, I swear I will haunt you until the rest of your life. Now you better stop whatever you are doing before someone gets hurt.
- I understand, but...”
Tumblr media
She didn’t let him finish and she stormed out of the room.
A few weeks later, Jillian aged into a toddler. She looked a lot like Adora, but she had Taiga’s eyes.
Tumblr media
Taiga had thrown a party for her granddaughter’s birthday, and as usual she had invited the Bayless family. But the Grim Reaper invited himself: Taiga’s time was up. She died right there, in the nursery, in front of her daughter, her granddaughter and her former lover...

The Wanderings of Chase - 11
Tumblr media
Her sanctuary is rapidly gaining trophies - the prize fish she pulled from the river in the summer, the tacky poster from her field trip to the mausoleum. The flag from Twinbrook State University, waving its colours and reminding her to keep going. Even the certificate she got for learning to drive is up there, because another skill mastered is another step closer to freedom, as small as it might be.
Tumblr media
There’s also a family portrait, that, for the moment, appears to be holding up. But speaking of family...
Tumblr media
... look, in her defense, it was mid winter and the whole lawn was hip deep in snow. What’s a girl supposed to do?
Tumblr media
Her name is Daisy, and she’s a good, fluffy girl. At least cats are cheaper than maids.
Tumblr media
But family comes in all shapes and sizes and... corporeality? She knows that Mama keeps her Grandaddy’s ashes in her room, but waking up to the ghost of Fly Bayless at 3am is no one’s idea of fun.
Tumblr media
Especially when your little brother’s driving lessons (a 7:00 sharp start) gets blocked in by wild horses roaming the road. Only in Twinbrook.
