hux Thoughts™️ are back!!!!

hi pals! I’m sorry I’ve been so absent from this blog!

I got a new job and then was applying to phd programs which is practically a job all on its own 😭😭 but those apps are in now so I’m hoping to have a bit more downtime

which leads me to the fact that I have just visited galaxy’s edge in disney world, and I went on rise of the resistance and whooooooo boy do I have hux thoughts!!!!

I’m still on vacation atm but I do have a little fic all planned out in my head, plus a lot of pics I took on the ride and some general thoughts/meta stuff. I don’t have access to my computer rn, but hopefully when I get back next week I’ll be able to give y’all a little hux content!

"I can't deny that this ride makes me feel giddy like a little kid. The queue is perfect once you get inside the building. The twist where your transport gets captured by the First Order and you come out into the docking bay of one of their Star Destroyers? Holy shit, the bay and the stormtroopers took my breath away. The cast members acting as the First Order officers are so fun to interact with. And then the ride itself is just an absolute blast of an experience!! The set pieces. The scrambling movement. Kylo Ren using the force on your transport. You arriving back at Batuu. It's a stellar experience from start to end."

"Last time I was at WDW, I could only be there for two days. When my family was planning what to do after dinner in EPCOT on the second day, someone suggested we go and wait in line to ride Rise of Resistance again. I accepted with no hesitation. It's worth it."

It's spring break and we got to go to Disney World and Galaxy's Edge! It was so cool!! Riding Rise of the Resistance for the first time was such an experience to remember. My whole family voted it the favorite, I couldn't believe it! But it was something new, different, and well done (and it didn't break down!) No lie, I was very emotional and tearing up. I said to them "Guys, this is what I wrote about for years and it's all come to life and real!" 🥰

Then I promptly crashed the Millenium Falcon over and over and over as the galaxy's worst pilot in Smugglers Run. I always knew I was meant to be a Jedi instead. 😂

Seriously, though - it was fun seeing Black Spire Outpost and thousands of people wearing Star Wars t-shirts loving on Star Wars. Over-commercialized and manipulative? Sure, but still fun. I mean, Kylo Ren walked by us surrounded by stormtroopers, how is that not cool??

I went to the building where you could meet the characters, determined to meet BB-8 but ended up leaving - the line was a little too long and a little too slow plus I was by myself while my family got snacks and water. We wanted to do more rides before we park hopped so it's fine, but maybe next time we're there I will try again. And I probably will cry! He is my favorite and if he'd had some more souvenirs I probably would've got one!

Now we're home and watching the Taylor Switch concert film and people are crying in the audience. And I said, "That was me on Rise of the Resistance!" I totally get it, and it was totally worth it. Fandom love never dies. 😊
