yknow how some people dont visibly age as they get older. yea
also find a source that isnt a deleted website from 06 written before episode 2 ever came out lol
also its one single voiceline find more than 1 at least
A few months ago, I received an ask from some troll trying to argue that canon voice lines, Valve's own website, common sense, and Gordon's extremely 30-ish looking canon model do not constitute sufficient evidence that he's not 47, because "some people don't visibly age." (Tell me you don't know of or interact with any middle aged people who aren't rich celebrities without actually telling me.) For obvious reasons, I never intended to answer this ask, but I replayed Half Life 2 recently and caught a voiceline from Dr. Breen that I feel compelled to share.
You want more than one voiceline? Cool. In addition to Eli's fairly unambiguous "My God, you haven't changed one iota!" and other lines indicating that he knows about the G-man, we've also got br_overwatch07:
"How could one man have slipped through your force's fingers time and time again? How is it possible? This is not some agent provocateur or highly trained assassin we are discussing. Gordon Freeman is a theoretical physicist who had hardly earned the distinction of his Ph.D. at the time of the Black Mesa Incident. I have good reason to believe that in the intervening years, he was in a state that precluded further development of covert skills. The man you have consistently failed to slow, let alone capture, is by all standards simply that—an ordinary man. How can you have failed to apprehend him?"
Discourse implications aside, man, we do not talk enough about Breen's relationship with/knowledge of the G-man and his employers' interests. Like, Breen can definitely see with his own eyes that Gordon doesn't look like he's aged, but this feels... more sinister than that.

"american sunscreen sucks, if you want the good shit you have to try asian or european sunscreen" 100% sounds like a lie to get you to buy fancy sunscreen but having tried an amazing (and cost-effective) korean sunscreen I am thoroughly convinced. even cerave's ultra-light face sunscreen sucks pretty bad and I normally love cerave so it hurts me a little bit to say this. the white cast it leaves is undeniable though. on the other hand isntree hyaluronic acid watery sun gel goes on completely clear, no greasy shiny sheen, doesn't burn or stink, doesn't make you break out, and after five minutes you'll basically forget you're wearing it. and this bottle was twenty-five bucks with shipping but after near-daily use for three months I'm still not out!!!

Luxury skincare is a scam, but I think it can help in the short-term as far as ritualizing self-care and investing in a future self and thinking a bit more forward.
There’s something about doing things that take time to work that encourage you to keep your future in mind.

I got that new barrier support serum from the ordinary. Was I influenced by the fact it’s pink? Yes.

The fastest I've ever clicked on a video was today after having flipped my screen on in the morning and seeing Doctorly's video on Tretinoin on my youtube feed.

I really didn’t know that rosewater toner was so integral to my skincare routine until i ran out, tried using ice cubes as a replacement (which failed) and then got witch hazel because i couldn’t find what i wanted, ruining the microbiome of my skin because i forgot to check that it was alcohol-free and it indiscriminately damaged my face a bit……
but now that i found it, have been using it, and remembered to use a few pimple patches for the sensitive spots, it’s healing up okay

me: “i’m excited to get old and get wrinkles! fuck an unrealistically elaborate skincare routine, i WANT to look my age as i age!”
me, at the ripe age of Not Even 30 Yet, seeing smile lines and crow’s feet developing: “hm........ yknow maybe it’s not a bad idea to wash my face once or twice every day.. maybe moisturize in the morning AND evening... that’s like ACTUALLY good hygiene and maybe it’ll actually help my acne and having a routine is kind of nice....”

in my experience retinol works better if your skin isn't 100% dry before applying it (or maybe its all the placebo effect dsjfs) but tbh you can do this by either just, washing your face as usual and then applying the retinol after lightly drying you face (basically make sure your skin isnt dripping wet) or like, 20 to 30 mins after applying your usual mosturizer. Also my dermatologist recced me using a moisturizer with retinol not cause 'it works best' but cause it can dry your skin a lot & using both products minimizes the side effects! You can also try to use the retinol without moisturizing your face first and after the trial period (dont rememeber how long retinol takes to show results, sorry) decide if you're happy with or if you want to try adding a moisturizer! Hope this helped!
yeah I’ll definitely need to follow it up with a good moisturizer (I love weleda and eucerin) I have rlly dry skin especially during the winter 😭 thank you :)

SCINIC Cicanoid Retinal Cream Review
Tumblr media
This year I turned 30 and I was thinking that I need to step up my skin care game by including retinoids in my routine. This cream from the K-beauty brand "Scinic" is an intensive wrinkle treatment that prevents early signs of aging and improves the look of existing fine lines and wrinkles. It contains 0.05% Retinal, 0.05% Bakuchiol, and 0.001ppm Retinol.
Read my experience and tips here: SCINIC Cicanoid Retinal 0.05% Cream Review
Do you use retinoids in your skin care routine?
