Pairings: Soul/Maka Rating: Mature Summary: Lord Solomon “Soul” Evans and the Honorable Maka Albarn wish to free themselves of the weight of society and all the suffocating standards that come with it. Unfortunately, it’s not that easy. For Soul, his parents refuse to give him his inheritance unless he gets married within this year's season. That wouldn’t be so hard if socializing didn’t give him massive headaches. Maka wants to get away from her father and his ruined reputation that constantly follows her like a shadow, but the only way to do that in this society is to marry into another household. They meet at the Diehl family’s annual spring ball and realize they can be the perfect solution to each others’ problems. And so, they begin to court, becoming the talk of the town, with their names being whispered in tea parlors and smoking rooms on the daily. The whispers all disapprove, but that doesn’t matter when this is all fake, right? Of course, you can only go so far with fake courting before it becomes not-so-fake. A Regency Era/Bridgerton/Jane Austen Inspired Romance, Complete with a lot of tension and yearning.

Heya! It’s that time of year again, Resbang Season! This time I got to work with @cupidelixir for this lovely fic! I am so happy to have been able to work with them this year! Go send some love to my lovely partner!

Summary:  After spending a lonely summer with her mother in Japan after her parent's divorce, Maka moves back to her hometown ready to start the harrowing journey of forging the world's next Death Scythe. In the meantime, she still has to grapple with the mistakes of her father, still fresh in her mind, while also keeping enough composure to find a partner she can resonate with. Will she learn how to blaze her own trail, or will the pressure of filling shoes too big come back to bite before she can even try?

What Happens In Vegas

I am thoroughly and completely jazzed to say that I participated in Resbang as an author this year - for the very first time - and I'm nothing short of thrilled with how my entry turned out!

First things first, HUGE shout-out to my artist partners for creating some truly wonderful art for this fic - @hua-fei-hua and @warriorblood1 - all of your pieces turned out absolutely gorgeous and it was such a pleasure working with you both!

Summary: Many years after the Great Kishin War, life in Death City has grown quite routine. While still roommates and partners on paper, Maka Albarn’s job as an Assistant Professor and Soul Evans’s eponymous status as The Last Death Scythe have them spending the majority of their time apart, and yearning for the good old days of fighting evil and saving the world together.

Enter Black Star and his latest, greatest idea - a week-long vacation with the whole gang to Las Vegas for his birthday. A week in Sin City isn’t exactly either of their first choice of vacation, but Soul and Maka both reluctantly agree after some convincing. As the trip unfolds and the two estranged partners spend more time together than they have in years, the flames of something perhaps more than friendship begin to grow. Will they come away from this vacation stronger and closer than ever, or will what happens in Vegas stay in Vegas?

(An idea basically born from the question of what would happen if the Soul Eater gang went to Vegas to break up the monotony of adulthood, and it was also a SoMa rom-com?)

Here’s my entry for Resbang 2022!!!!!

Summary: Soul Evans had been content with living a mundane life on his family’s estate: that was until he happened to meet Maka Albarn, a servant for the Evans, inside a barn while looking for a place to quietly play his lute. The two grow close over the span of a year before finally confessing their love to one another on the night Soul is to pick a bride. However, when things begin to go south after Maka disappears during a shipwreck on her way to Death Kingdom, Soul decides to accept the marriage proposal of Elizabeth Thompson (princess of Death Kingdom) in order to have a way of leaving the Evans estate and going to search for Maka. What he hadn’t expected was getting abducted by a pair of assassins, covertly getting saved by Maka, and then doing some saving of his own at the last minute (aka The Princess Bride AU with some liberties lol)

Hey all,

once again has resbang season slipped by and I am here with another entry. I had a little trouble with this one—life, writers block and the like, but I hope you can enjoy!

Just wanted to give a ginormous thank you for everyone that carried me through these couple months: My team of two wonderful artists— @anonbaph and @not-so-scandalous. My beta @louvioun who dragged me out of the ninth circle of hell, just in time for me to post this. And, of course, claps to the mods(@resbangmod )—who’ve been throwing this wonderful event together for a DECADE. Cheers to, hopefully, many more to come.

Hymns We Inked in Blood

My entry for Resbang 2022 is now live! I had the idea for this fic waaay back in 2020 and was finally able to put it to page for this event.

Huge thanks to my artist partner @firedragonx, who did an absolutely amazing piece of art for this fic! Was absolutely blessed to have such a wonderful partner for my very first Resbang! And huge kudos to @resbangmod, who’s been running this event for ten whole years, whew!

Summary:

Maka liked words, liked the sprawling secrets they kept locked away in symbols and code, the sound of their lilt and cadence as she read. She liked happy endings engraved in ink and coaxed from reams of yellowing paper.

The only words Crona knew dripped snake venom. The only stories they knew were tragedies, not the type studied in classrooms, but grotesque tales derived from a lifetime of violence. There was only one other person who was familiar with that type of darkness, who knew how to tame and weave it into something— someone— that Maka could truly love.

(Or: Crona wants to write a poem for Maka’s birthday. Soul helps.)

Summary: Life is a violent place. The people of the Hole know this all too well; living in fear of Sorcerers and their often cruel magics. As a citizen of the Hole himself, Soul tries to get by. However, after a fateful encounter with a knife on a dirty street, Soul learns that he is not merely human, but a Sorcerer himself. Now, with danger and death on his tail, Soul must open a door to a new world, fleeing the only home he’s ever known.

What lies on the other side of that door? Devils! Starry skies! And a girl with green eyes! Hopefully, Soul will be able to survive it all.
