Long story short: El's very interested in Rel and Nisha's Maguuma heritage. I don't think they'd get along well as people, but in a professional setting, I can see them working together. Bonus points since he's with Trahearne (Rel, I mean) tho!!

"It makes me happy to hear of other Storm warbands being happy. Or reuniting after a betrayal or a similar disaster. Those fractures rarely heal, but hearing someone heal from that almost gives me hope, if not for the fact that we're scattered all over Iron or dead. And, she reminds me of Thad a little. Long story short: He really has all the nice things to say about her. He'd be like a good older brother to offer help and guidance if she needs it and he's super stocked she found Cio!! He thinks everyone deserves someone to love and be loved by.

Coriandus on Rel and Nisha!

"The two Sylvari from the other Tree. To be honest, I don't know what I think of them- they are an enigma, at least to us emerged from the Pale Tree. I have been around for a lot longer than most Sylvari you run into, thus change is... different. I find myself curious about their Tree. I wonder if it is as... 'benevolent'... as the Pale Mother, or if it is similar to the dragon. If it is similar to Mordremoth, I wonder how these Sylvari from it became like us and not Mordrem? It is a mystery I want to solve, though I doubt I will ever get answers.

Nisha seems like an honest person, someone you can trust. Though, I find myself... saddened. I commend xem for stepping up and taking on the Pact's burden, no matter how long or little it lasted. It is a curse I wouldn't wish on anyone. Relethen reminds me of my brother, oddly enough. I feel the two of them might bond over their shared adoration of Trahearne. It's endearing.

I do wish I could get to know them, but... part of me thinks they'd be scared of me. After all, to everyone, I only embody that damned Elder Dragon now." She glares off to the side, obviously upset. After a long period of silence, she sighs. "So I will keep my distance. It's better that way."

Okay, my brain is finally working enough to generate character thoughts in a way that I can write them down, so, to elaborate on something I mentioned in an ask just now:

Rel never really wanted to travel.

He's curious, sure. He loves to read, loves to learn, loves to understand the world he's in better. But legitimately--if his home in Maguuma had been a safe and healthy one and he'd been in a healthy mental place, I'm not sure he ever would have left more than maybe once or twice, for a short time. He's content staying put. He doesn't have the wanderlust that Kerra does.

The two major traveling experiences Rel has--leaving the Priory (prior to the PS) and going to Orr with Trahearne (for the duration of the level 40 and 50 PS)--are not spurred by him wanting to travel. Leaving the Priory is due to him wanting to figure out who he is and not being able to stay with his sibling while he's doing that. Going to Orr has a little bit to do with a) his genuine curiosity about the land and b) his crush that he hasn't admitted to anyone, including himself, at that point. In other words, it's a little bit just because he wants to. It's also because he thinks he can be most helpful there, and he's still pretty lost.

Joining the Pact after Claw Island is Rel deciding to call the organization founded by two people he cares about (that also contains several of his friends and Nisha) his home, at least for now. It's him deciding on a place to stay put.

🖊 - Rel's a tempest and fights like it. By which I mean that he absolutely can do damage at long range, but if you make the mistake of letting him get near/getting up in his face, he becomes an elemental tornado, for lack of a better description. At best, you're getting blown backwards, and at worst you are Dead. He's not as well known for his fighting prowess as some of my other folks (like Kerra, for example, whose fighting skills have been on display Frequently to decent-sized groups of people), but it would be a serious mistake to underestimate him.

🖊 - LWS3 involves Kerra doing a lot of processing/healing--which I know I mentioned to you a little bit already, but I wanted to elaborate a bit more. She's on her own a lot, going from place to place: Eir's funeral, to see Trahearne (who's still recovering) and Rel, Bitterfrost Frontier, to see Aurene...it's a long list. It's the first time she's been off entirely solo since the spiral she went down after Zhaitan's defeat. It's also notably different than that experience, though, because she's actively staying in contact with everyone.

She has two partners now, who she got to spend a few months with before their respective jobs/obligations forced them into long distance, and there's a lot of letters involved. (On a semi-related note, Taimi doesn't really invent a secure line until EoD, but she does at some point invent different channels, kinda like a radio, so the three of them can keep in touch without driving the rest of Dragon's Watch crazy and without always having to wait for the mail.) Kerra canonically does have the stone that will teleport her back to Tarir to see Aurene, and she uses it very frequently; she's as present as she can be in her dragon daughter's life. When she travels back there, she gets to see Caithe, and often to at least say hi to Nisha. She specifically goes to see Trahearne and Rel to say hi and to talk through what she did at the end of HoT with her brother. It's different because she's trying her absolute hardest not to be isolated. Also turns out it's a lot easier to heal when you have people there with you who a) are willing to support you and b) understand a decent amount of your trauma on a personal level.

😊 What can make your OC smile even when they’re feeling down? What cheers them up and makes everything feel better for them? Is your OC generally a happy person and do they enjoy making others smile? What about your OC makes others happy?

Music is an easy one--playing it, singing it, having someone close to him play or sing something to him as well. (Kerra's cheered him up before by coming up with a very goofy dance to one of his songs.) Just having someone there who he cares about will also do it; just the casual physical affection/their presence is enough, so he doesn't feel alone. Longer-term cheering him up will at least in part necessitate addressing whatever problem has him feeling down--he can get most of the way to feeling better with other things, but nothing is as good as fixing the root problem for him. Somewhat hilariously for someone who a) is a medic and thus pretty good at compartmentalizing generally and b) waited a good two-ish years to confess to the guy he fell in love with, avoidance doesn't work for him in this regard!

Rel is indeed generally happy! You wouldn't get the impression that he's too far from even-keeled contentment if you just met and talked to him, but it's pretty evident in the songs he writes and plays/sings that he's pretty damn happy right now. And he does enjoy making others happy; it's part of the reason that he gives music lessons nowadays. I've talked about Rel and music so much in this answer asldjfad, but it is very intrinsically connected to him and how he expresses happiness, so I think that's fair enough! And his music also is something that makes others happy, as well as just the fact that he's the type of person who's very grounding, interestingly enough. He has semi-celebrity status these days, but really has never had his head in the clouds.

Oh, this means I get to compare current!Rel to baby!Rel, excellent excellent :D Well. Almost baby!Rel. 10 years ago would be just-helped-defeat-Zhaitan!Rel, I think.

He's a lot more settled, for one thing. Rel has never been someone who adventures for the sake of adventuring. He traveled when he was with the Pact in order to do his job; he left Maguuma in the first place because his mother (who he'd just lost) had told him to go; he wandered a bit when leaving the Priory in 1325 because he had little idea of the world outside the jungle and wanted to figure it out (and it was during this period in which he ended up in Caledon and met Kerra); he went to Orr with Trahearne for a few months that same year because he was curious both about the history and the person he was with--and also because his friend was joining an Order that he had no desire to join and he also had no desire to return to his sibling and the Priory, so he figured that path was as good as any. He's never wanted to travel just to travel, and nowadays he's able to, ya know, not do that.

These two statements are kinda contradictory, but he's both experienced a lot more trauma since then and is in a better place now. I would not choose the "confronting your trauma" method of crashing into your former home on an airship, having to fight to not give in to the Elder Dragon yelling in your brain, and seeing your former village dead, mainly because it's a shitty method and includes adding more trauma to the original. But it did jar him out of the state he'd been in prior to that where he was just kinda halfway happy. He's not glad those things happened, but he is happy with the place he's in now. And that he was able to actually talk about his crush. That took a while. (Yes, I will continue roasting him for this. Very affectionately, I promise.)

As for advice...hm. Maybe just to be honest? Or "open" might be the better word there. Rel also would definitely give his younger self specific advice to make the future easier for him, if that was allowed--namely that no, other sylvari do not in fact know about Mordremoth and you should tell them. Baby!Rel's advice to current!Rel..."keep doing what makes you happy", I think.

🍐 What is your OC’s mentality? Are they overall positive? Negative? A bit of both? Describe their thought patterns and reasoning behind their choice making!

Rel, when he was a lot younger, had a tendency to kind of...only look at the positive side to things--as long as they outweighed the negative things, they were all that mattered. It wasn't actively malicious or anything, and it wasn't really on purpose, but it was a way of thinking about things that was passively encouraged by his mother and was one of the contributing factors to him and Nisha drifting apart as saplings. Nisha's worldview was just way different from his at that point (and also unhealthy, but in a different way). Nowadays, he does still tend to lean towards a positive mentality, but it's in a much healthier way--and he doesn't ignore the negative things. He's a lot better at handling the whole of things rather than only one side, if that makes sense.

🌸 What does your OC’s voice sound like? Their laugh? Are they good at singing? Do they have an accent?

Generally pretty soft, but not soft as in quiet, soft as in I'm using it as a tone descriptor. Rel sounds like someone who sings in the sense that his voice is a bit melodic. He's also very capable of sounding authoritative, but more in the sense of "trustworthy boss on a project" than "coach yelling plays in the middle of a game." He always starts off laughing quietly, but it's not because he's ashamed of laughing at all, just that he specifically starts with these half-choked giggles that will quickly spin into full-on laughter. He is indeed good at singing :) And he does have an accent! He "grew up" around Itzel, though not the specific group we meet in the main in-game storyline, and so he has an accent that sounds like theirs.

🎀 Do they wear a specific accessory with a special meaning behind it? What is their usual fashion sense like? What do they wear when they want to be comfortable and what do they wear when they’re going to a fancy party? Or do they just not care?

Ooh, interesting question. Don't get me wrong, Rel certainly has keepsakes and things that are important to him that he carries around or holds onto, but none of them are really things that he wears. Most of the things that he wears are tailored to comfort more than anything else, though he does like when they have at least a bit of decoration of some kind so that they're not entirely plain fabric. As for formal events, he leans towards...kinda-sorta not caring? Mainly in the sense that he's going to wear a (fresh and clean, of course) Pact uniform to anything that requires a standard of formal different than his usual wear.

Oh, this was a fun one, mainly because Nisha would just be so ??? about Galaëd, and it's making me laugh. Xe'd legitimately like him, but it'd also be so weird for xem if xe knew about Galaëd's crush on/burgeoning relationship with Canach in his 'verse--and xe wouldn't say anything to him about it, most likely, but it'd be a whole thing for xem to wrap xyr head around. It'd also be weird for xem because at this point, xe's self-aware enough that Galaëd would remind xem a tiny bit of both xyrself and Kerra. Nisha would probably have some trouble talking to him at first, I think, asldkjfasf, but if they had enough time I think they could get along well!

Also interesting for Rel, honestly! Rel would definitely like Galaëd, though I could see any lingering elements of Galaëd's original black-and-white worldview bothering him in particular (more than they'd bother Nisha, interestingly enough), and personality-wise, I think they'd get along. (And that they'd probably click faster than Galaëd would with Nisha, despite any clashes.) One last point on here I wanted to note--"I never want to forget you" comes from the role Galaëd plays in bringing Trahearne back in your 'verse. Rel's 'verse plays out differently, of course, but Galaëd gets an instant boost in status as far as Rel's concerned because of that alone.

Commanders assemble, love it xD Kerra would definitely like Anwen; commander/trauma-based family status is instant, plus it doesn't hurt that in Anwen's 'verse she is very much in love with that version of Kerra's brother. Kerra would trust Anwen based on Trahearne's judgment alone, but her stalwart defense of sylvari during HoT (even if that's a bar that Should be on the ground) definitely helps too. I'd love to see the two of them go to a party together--Kerra wasn't raised in nobility but is generally good at holding onto her temper even if she feels similarly to Anwen at times; it'd be a fun balancing act, and god forbid anyone decide to try to pull anything with both of them there.

Rel looks conflicted, then exhales forcefully as the potion pushes him to actually answer. "Part of me wants to say yes. Part of me doesn't. I...breaking the tablet wouldn't entirely remove that structure. Even in a scenario where it would...look. Changing or removing some of that rigidity would, to me, be a good thing. But losing the structure you've built your life around is terrifying. It was hard enough for me and Nisha, and I know it's not quite the same, but to be the one inflicting that on others..."

For the oc ranking question , with whoever you want! From best to worst, who would immediately fall asleep the moment they go to bed to who would need to drink tea and listen to every music tracks known to fall asleep?

Excellent excellent, love this! :D From best to worst at falling asleep:

Tanza: gets to sleep pretty fast and sleeps deeply. Vivid dreams are super common for her, though they're usually positive or neutral dreams. Stress doesn't manifest in loss of sleep for them very often.

Kerra: her problem is staying asleep due to nightmares, but she crashes real quick.

Eethie: about average--they sometimes have a mild amount of trouble falling asleep, but not extensive and not often.

Chieko: has trouble turning her brain off if she's not physically and/or mentally exhausted enough. She's familiar with all the tricks in the book and does indeed listen to music to help.

Rel: bad at falling asleep and doesn't always try to do so. Might stay up all night if he has things going on and no one's telling him to rest. Yes this has been an issue before.

📂 - Rel is the type of person who'll walk into Tyrian Starbucks and just...get the weirdest coffee orders possible. He's either ordering one with way way too much sugar or one with like. 15 shots of espresso. Or both. He's always very nice about it and never rude to the staff, but it concerns people a bit.

📂 - We never got a full explanation for what the NMC were doing in Maguuma during HoT/how exactly they ended up there, since anet cut pretty much all of that out. I think a lot of it had to do with a legitimate and general desire to remove something that they'd enjoy following even less than the Dream (Mordremoth was very much their enemy as well), but I also think Faolain may have used Mordremoth as a common enemy and rallying point in a last-ditch attempt to not lose total control over the Court.

📂 - You can canonically craft dragonsblood weapons that aren't specifically spears. Since those would mainly (if not only?) have been particularly useful in the fight against Kralkatorrik, I imagine several Pact weapons specialists putting their heads together with the Exalted forgemasters in the lead-up to the battle in Thunderhead Keep. They're quite happy to help but also mildly perturbed that spears alone weren't satisfactory.

for the character development questions: for kerra, nisha, and rel, what's a detail of each of their personalities that never really comes up or gets discussed much? - @wyldblunt

Oooh, excellent excellent because this question absolutely requires me to Think and that is Fun :D Tyty!!

Kerra's emotional pain gets discussed the most often on here, as well as the lengths she's gone to in order to mask said pain. She also instinctively hides the fact that she's in physical pain when that happens. Unless an injury is enough to fully incapacitate her so that she can't move, she's going to keep going. That's something that comes a bit from her saplinghood, as she had to/chose to be fairly self-sufficient in a lot of ways, and also comes a lot from her taking on the Commander position. She got used to presenting the front of an unflappable leader and is quite good at it. (Also, this part's not really relevant to the personality thing, but that's part of what makes her terrifying to fight. You have to land a very severe blow if you want her to stop coming at you, and that's incredibly difficult to do.)

Nisha is almost as much a parent to Aurene as Kerra and Caithe are and fully Did Not Intend for that to happen. Xe stayed in Maguuma for quite a while thanks to taking the Marshal position after HoT and was mostly busy trying to deal with the aftermath of everything. Xe also made it a point to go personally check up on Aurene every week or two, which at first was mainly to a) just keep tabs on this Very Important Little Creature and b) send updates to Kerra when she couldn't come visit personally. The visits increased in frequency once Nisha started to truly care for Aurene. The reason I'm telling you all this when you asked about personalities is that this is another piece of "emotions Nisha was afraid of". Xe was afraid of caring strongly for anyone for a while, but considering that the source of that fear was xyr Mother, becoming a parent in any capacity was especially terrifying; the idea of reenacting the past, even by accident, was a horrible one. Xyr emotional bond with Aurene simultaneously managed to make it more and less terrifying.

Rel is, by and large, a forgiving person. The one person he still holds a grudge against is the Pale Tree, and it's largely on the behalf of others (Kerra, Trahearne, Caithe) rather than because she caused him any personal harm (which she has not). Also worth noting that there's a slight bit of projection going on--he only fully realized how many issues his own Mother had after she'd died, and he still has very mixed feelings on that note, so some of them end up mixing in with his feelings about the Pale Tree.

Random Rel thoughts that my brain won’t be quiet about on this Sunday:

I’ve talked a decent amount about Nisha and xyr rough relationship with xyr mother, but Rel had...almost the opposite issue?

He was personable enough that he made friends quickly, he didn’t seem to be as worried as his sibling, and though he was a capable fighter as well as a healer, he didn’t have to be, because he had enough people surrounding him who could keep him safe. So while Viridi (their mother) worried too much about Nisha to the point that it was incredibly harmful, she worried too little about Rel.

He wasn’t given as much attention--not that he particularly wanted negative attention, but even so. It’s part of the reason he became a performer, specifically. He legitimately loves music, but the fact that performances would get his mother’s attention was definitely part of it.
