"Ancestral spirits exist as a phenomenon beyond the purview of the Erdtree. Life sprouts from death, as it does from birth. Such is the way of the living"
Tried to sort remembrances based on their color palette and the result is quite... interesting
Both Elden Beast and Maliketh have much lighter hue of gold than demigods. I assume that rich gold of demigods and Fortisaxx remembrances means that they belong to the age of the Erdtree/Golden Order. What’s the deal with Elden Beast and Maliketh then? Is it because they are beasts created by Two Fingers and The Greater Will?
(I can’t find original comment, but someone on Youtube pointed out that the spells Radagon casts with his left shadow hand have a yellow-gold color, but what comes from Marika’s hammer has desaturated whitish gold)
The color of Placidusax remembrance is most likely related to the Crucible, the previous incarnation of the Order: red tint exemplifies the nature of primordial gold, said to be close in nature to life itself. The Union between dragons and Golden Order became possible because both factions formally belonged to the Elden Ring (Greater Will), but I’m curious why Omens and Misbegotten were cast aside, but dragons were worshipped in Leyndell with a help of Godwyn
Rennala and Astel are obviously connected to the Stars and Moons, but Astel is a bastard of the void if I go with Japanese literal translation, while Rennala is a champion of the Full Moon. This situation reminds me of heretical belief of some Raya Lucaria scholars:
Scholars of the Lazuli Conspectus study Carian sorceries—a heterodox pursuit that views the moon as equal to the stars.
Fire Giant is bright red, can’t say anything about it other than I tired of all Radagon is part giant theories
Regal Ancestor Spirit has its unique turquoise color, descriptions related to it are rather intriguing.
Ancestral spirits exist as a phenomenon beyond the purview of the Erdtree. Life sprouts from death, as it does from birth. Such is the way of the living.
A number of new growths bud from the antler-like horns of the fallen king, each glowing with light. Thus does new life grow from death, and from death, one obtains power.
How old is Ancestral worship? Can Godwyn be affected by the power of ancestral worship, looking how his corpses are mutated in the pieces of different living creatures?
A suggestion I had last week for my avatar was Patches as Rudolph. Instead I went for the ancestral guardian. Cause for a Christmas piece, turning Rudolph into a critter that sucks the souls of the wildlife is different. 🤣
"A spirit glowing in pale blue light, taking the shape of a huge deer. Moves with grace and attacks ferociously. Capable of draining the life of spirits and regaining heath."
The Regal Ancestor Spirit spontaneously dying on me is obviously a bug, but considering the “luck” (if one may call it that) I’ve been having with a lot of the bosses lately makes me think it committed suicide.
I am no stranger to FromSoftware games, having played through both Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3, so when it comes to bosses I’m expecting the battle to be difficult. With every attempt I would learn something new, make note of another attack or another opening.
Imagine my surprise when I took down Margit in 3 tries, Godrick in 2, the Red Wolf in 1, Regalla in 2, Radahn in 3, Makar in 2, Mimic Tear in 1 and both Dragonkin Soldiers in less than 5.
Now that’s a lot of bosses, and I’m only listing the ones I can think off right now. Needing only so few tries makes them rather forgettable, I am afraid, - which is a pity, since their combats are actually designed in interesting ways.
For comparison, bosses from Bloodborne, like Rom, Ebrietas and the Orphan of Kos, took me two entire evenings to get through, and me and my cooperator simply gave up trying to overcome Midir from Dark Souls 3 because of difficult he is.
Now, I haven’t finished Elden Ring yet, so there might be far more difficult boss battles that await me, and I’m not saying that the decrease in difficulty is an entirely bad thing, either. After all, it makes the game more accessible. But doesn’t it seem a little unbalanced when some random knight seems more difficult than the boss?
Makes me think that either I’m doing something very right,
I’m having an extraordinary lucky streak,
or I somehow broke the game.
