For the record! I'm going to apologize now and say it's probably going to be a hot minute before a new RnS chapter comes out [a week, maybe two]. I have encountered some issues that need sorted.

would be interesting if there were in-depth mechanics around heat, darkness, and different types of blight in minecraft. imagine if being near lava or magma blocks, but not touching them, without wearing anything, would set you on fire anyway. Or being around ice or snow without leather would inflict slowness or like, freezing damage. also warped forests could maybe give you like, nausea or blindness if you stay too long in them. maybe soulsand could poison or wither you if you step on it without boots for too long. and staying in darkness or near sculk for too long without diamond or netherite on could maybe make your character kinda twitchy and more subject to like, momentum, and increase the amount of view distance fog or add in "void particles", and have you start hallucinating more sounds like cave sounds or whispering or whatever. might not be for everyone but would be neat.

Part 3 of a set of posts looking at the castle's automatic sorting system on our realm.

This post features the underbelly of the sorter, which was standardized and decorated by @shewholistens. Each section contains scaffolding to access all three tiers of the sorter so the hoppers can be programmed and maintained over time.

The redstone was planned and implemented by myself and an old friend. It's an incredibly robust system that has survived several updates.

Above is a vertical slice of the redstone in the underbelly. These slices can be placed next to one another with negligible interaction for a compact system.

Note the three tiers (three yellow activators, three output barrels, etc). The top tier has room for bulk storage, the middle tier medium storage, and the bottom tier small storage.

Red concrete = block that represents the item to be stored in the barrel below

Magenta concrete = programmable hopper full of 21 named items and 1 item that will be sorted in the corresponding barrel

Lime concrete = hopper line that brings items over every input hopper until they reach a matching hopper

Yellow concrete = activators that allow items to flow through the programmable hoppers when an item to be sorted passes through

There are several Sorter input locations throughout the castle and village. When an item is brought to the sorter, it first passes through an automatic smelter to process any ores or uncooked food (wet sponges too). Post-processing, the item enters the Sorter's main hopper line (green). If a programmable hopper (magenta) below the line contains a matching item, then the item enters the programmable hopper. This activates the yellow section, allowing one copy of the item to flow into storage.

Of course, this is a simplified explanation of the entire Sorter. You may be wondering "Why are there droppers everywhere in the first picture but not the schematic?" or "Why does the top tier shown have more storage in some slices than others?" I'll answer any questions you have in the comments, but in the meantime, happy redstoning!

It does not fit in and its scary. the AMOUNT of redstone and functions it go is AMAZING. the only way to enter is through a portal that then leads u to the nether and has to be manually activated again by the warden. So to enter you literally NEED the wardens permission. All the bridges and all the door. It's so fucking cool man what can I say. The amount of security. the lore that happened inside pandora as well. Pandoras arc was the best arc of the whole of dream smp and I stand by that. There is so so much to unpack. Sam and Dream could have just built some shitty obsidian box and called it a prison, but no they made PANDORAS VAULT

OKAY SO what with the TWO new Hermits implied by the updated banner I will say that, though the Skizz truthers have me convinced, I now have room to do my own crazy red string monologue and throw my hat in for my choice

1) Mythical J. Sausage (the J is silent) is a multitalented S-tier builder that absolutely deserves to be shoulder to shoulder with the Hermits. The man does buildings, interiors, terraforming, custom trees, and he does them SO WELL.

2) The production values!!! Beautiful replay mod sequences with shifting camera perspectives, shaders, music that sets the tone for each segment that's different from series to series. He already has more than a million followers on YouTube and for good reason!!

3) He has been SO consistent lately. He started a hardcore world about three months ago (about the time you might expect the Hermits to finalize their s10 choices maybe...???) and already has 15 episodes and hasn't gotten involved in any other big content. (He did just start playing a little of the BCG server but from what I understand that's super casual /copium copium copium).

4) That hardcore world is conveniently about to reach a good "pause" point. He started his world on a cherry blossom biome island that he's filled with a medieval village and starter farms, he's said it's almost full and what's left is the castle. I'm guessing the new season will start the first week of February, so if Sausage puts out a video this week building out that Castle and finishing that island it will be MIGHTY CONVENIENT TIMING.

5) This man can GRIND. His Hardcore world hasn't even been going half a year and he's built... So much??? Magnificent! And when he was on the Hermitcraft server he did the Razorcrest for scar AND the player head baby yoda/stormtrooper merch AND the noteblock themesong AND still built in the xmas village and other "diamond of peace" and so many other shenanigans. Did the man even sleep? He can grind with the best of them.

6) He can do redstone, too! Maybe not unique designs, I honestly don't know, but he builds farms for build materials no problem.

7) The DRAMA this man loves his improv and his backstory and trauma lore! For every series he does! Can you imagine if he gets to interact with Ren for an extended period of time, what that would do to them, to us?? Give Martyn a run for his money!!

8) Which brings me to my next point, which is that Sausage is already One of The Gang, because he's been in series with so many of the Hermits already! Empires and the crossover, obviously, but also Pirates with Cleo and Origins with Scar, and he's even done MCC! Joel is the only other player with the same depth of different series but there are other people truthing him already.

9) The EPIC BROMANCE with Pearl. My god the devotion of this man to his sunflower goddess bestie. I would try to do ot justice but y'all have seen floweroflaurelins work, you already know.

10) He's already a PG streamer but with HILARIOUSLY PG-13 tendencies. Imagine him and Cleo cracking each other up at an HHH stream, *grips your shoulders* IMAGINE IT.

11) Sausage comes with his own mascot in the form of interdimensional dog extraordinaire Bubbles, but he's also just an animal lover on general. Mans drinks his "I love Jellie" juice and had her in his world even before the sad news of her loss.

12) Diversity win! No one should be hired just for their gender, race, sexuality etc etc unless it's truly necessary to the job, but we were all happy when more women got added to the server in s8 and I know a lot of people would be happy to see some ethnic diversity added, too.

So I'm currently writing a HC fic and realized how little I know about some of the hermits (I unfortunately don't have time to watch all of them), which made it really difficult to depict them properly in my writing. I'm assuming at least some of you might also struggle with this, so, here we are!

If you know of a catchphrase from any hermit from any season, comment, reblog, send me a an ask or dm, dm me on discord, whatever works the best :D

Note: when I say "catchphrase," I mean anything a hermit repeats over an extended period of time. It can be something said during a single season (like "You'll speak when spoken to!" or "Hermit Challenges!"), or something that spans their entire careers (like "Aww snappers!" or "Plonker"). I'm not looking for one-off quotes that are never bought up again — there's some great sources (like @hermitcraft-correct-quotes) for that already :)

day 25: playing games

thank you to my bsf for suggesting they play minecraft. it's amazing. here are my minecraft headcanons:

TSUKASA

- he does a lot of both building and fighting

- he tends to die of fall damage while building

- after nene, he is usually the first to get full diamond armor

- he is not that good at remembering crafting recipes so he relies on the in game crafting menu

- likes collecting the music discs

RUI

- early game, he mostly just builds and forces tsukasa to get resources

- he's really good at redstone. again, he makes tsukasa come with him to get materials

- he does NOT like mining

- you log off one night and rui has barely started a build and then when you log on the next day there's an entire castle built

- he's good at making mob farms (anything to avoid having to actually go out and fight)

- he only really dies from monsters, he's weirdly good at clutching from fall damage or lava

Helps you gather supplies and tend the animals. Will cry if one of them accidentally dies. Has definitely named them after his family. Like the cat that's permanently in your room named Lily or a bunny named Charlie.

Shows off his Minecraft house and pets to the entire hotel.

Angel Dust

Says he will, has ADHD moment, gets distracted, winds up in the Netherworld.

Literally tries so hard but is physically incapable of finishing anything.

Messes with your stuff sometimes just for funsies.

You have fun though.

Valentino

Can barely see the screen. Doesn't really care about the game. Leaves dick shaped block towers everywhere.

Gets frustrated easily and purposefully destroys things.

Absolutely would not let you put your Minecraft bed next to his.

Husk

Wouldn't play. He likes watching you play, though, and will compliment your house and farm.

He's not big on video games but enjoys being near you and watching you have fun. He may help you in boss fights but you gotta show him the controls first. Is oddly good at combat in most games.

I'm about 80% convinced that the whole Grian And Scar's Great Redstone Disaster is a semi-planned bit with Doc in on it ahead of time. Those two are reckless, but this would be a little bit extreme even for them, especially when dealing with someone else's extremely complex redstone. I mean, think about how long the various iterations of the World-Eater hung around without being messed with! And yet Grian randomly suggests going and looking at the tunnel borer as a distraction and Scar agrees immediately, and then the first thing they do when they get there is destroy this very big but generally nonessential machine? And then they let it play out over Twitter instead of begging forgiveness in Discord? Doesn't seem quite right...

But why destroy the tunnel borer like this and right now? There's a couple good reasons. The Mecha-Goat has been siting idle for months now, garaged in a pretty important bit of land.

This is Scar's view on what is going to be Adventureland, and I believe that line of blocks is going to be the river ride. The GOAT Garage is right up on that bit of real estate, and if it sits idle too long, it risks destroying actual built landscape when it is deployed. Plus, it's been a long time since the Mecha-GOAT was build, and it needs to be used! The trouble is, it's such a big and wild thing that it seems like overkill for almost any transgression from the neighbors. Grian and Scar would have to do something _very_ bad to justify that kind of TNT-farting revenge machine! And now... they have!

So that's one reason for why, and for why now. But what else? Quite simply, there's a clear block of time. There's no Life Series going on, Scar has finished his massive castle, the TCG tournament is basically wrapped up. Decked Out 2 is still months away from play. The server could really use a new storyline, and what better than a brand new ALL OUT WAR? Those are fun and prompt new creative builds and interactions. Plus it means Grian doesn't have to finish the back of his build for awhile longer.

Honestly, in the end it doesn't really matter whether it was planned or not. We know that at the end of the day nobody is really super-mad at anybody, and if there are hard feelings they will be worked through off-camera in a grown-up way between colleagues. But I believe that there's a plan at work here, and that it's going to unfold in a way that will be amazingly entertaining to watch. Here's to the Great GOAT War, may the silliest team win!

There's something comforting in watching Baghera spend time with the eggs

Like, she said multiples times that dapper felt like her son now and when she learned that Ramón only has one dad, she asked him if he wanted her to adopt him as well

She lets Ramón uses his machines as he wants, lets him take care of the redstone, because she trusts him and knows he lives doing this. She even asked him if he wanted to come back tomorrow to do some more, as Fit won't log on.

She lets Dapper plays in lava, fight mobs and withers because he loves to do that but never got to before. She allows him to do anything, as long as he stays safe. They did snowballs fights, small castles in the mountains, they're currently building a secret place and Dapper will have a new lab in there.

It genuinely feels like cousins staying at their auntie's while their parents are on a vacation

Since I'm checking on my Minecraft world again...

The chain if they're on the same Minecraft server:

Time: Server owner, but not always on since he has a full time job, or something. Except every time he gets on the server some drama (pos) will happen. The others is at least sure of a correlation, but yet to prove the causation.

Wind: The elytra guy™. Raids every single end city before anyone else. Absolutely zooming everywhere and being a nuisance. Hates grinding for materials but have a monopoly of the elytra trade and a deal with four in selling rockets, so he's doing ok.

Four: The redstoner™. Have a contraption for every single task you could need, and twice that amount for stuff you don't need. Banished to a faraway corner of the server because he's the number one contributor of lag.

Wild: The Hoarder™. Probably the richest guy on the server in terms of materials. Have most over the top automatic storage system that he doesn't fully knows how and why it works. Chronically online and absolutely living the grind.

Legend: Mini game maker. Idk what else to say except this guy's a Legend.

Warriors: Always got questioned if he had nagged Time to secretly add [insert mod of his preference], always denied. Claims to have nothing to do with it even after said mod is actually added. Also claims to not know that old man at all, which is definitely a lie and everyone knows that. Other than living the drama he's also a hardcore castle manic, usually complete with a whole town too.

Sky&Twilight: Aesthetic builder, with Twilight focusing on buildings and Sky focusing on the terraforming. Dirt and wood is literally worth more than diamonds for these two.

Hyrule: He can work some serious armor stand magic, and have a potion shop on the server that's always fully stocked. Usually appears and disappears at random times because of irl business, but you bet he'll be there whenever legend dropped a new mini game.
