Help! The Ungrateful Youths of Today Don't Appreciate the Value of Anything, and by 'Anything' I Mean the Worthless Shit I Am Trying to Sell Them
Ask A Manager, 12 May 2023:
Several years ago I was frustrated with the way people went about looking for jobs. I’m a small business owner and even before running my own company, I always networked. Through networking I’ve managed to do so much. Today I run six networking groups. Again, several years ago I created a t-shirt designed to network for you. It lists various fields, each with a checkbox by it, and comes with a small sharpie so you can check off the type of job or career you desire. By wearing the t-shirt everywhere you go, it starts the job seeking conversation. I marketed them inexpensively to college grads. I went to colleges, job fairs, and even graduations. Not one t-shirt sold. I was so angry. I was on popular talk shows and in the paper and still nothing. Today I sit with every size t-shirt in my garage. Many ask why I don’t still pursue this idea. They are the ones who got the idea and believe in it. Perhaps I was ahead of my time. I marketed towards college grads who texted as a main form of communication. However, today communication is even worse. Young adults can barely look someone in the eye. Please tell me what your opinion is of my t-shirts. I hoped people would wear them daily and maybe while filling their gas tank this would start a conversation that would change their lives forever. Networking will always be the way to get what you need. Referrals, physicians, mechanics, plumbers, electricians, landscapers, housekeepers, financial advisors, accountants, babysitters, trainers, real estate agents, tutors, and whatever I have missed. Am I wrong? Would my product help those unable to network?
There is one reason and one reason only that your revolutionary clothing business has failed to see the success it so clearly deserves: young people today are appallingly poor communicators who, for reasons that likely include video games and participation trophies, are actively unwilling to appreciate the awesome one-on-one human connections that can only be made by going about life wearing a t-shirt and hoping someone reads it and decides to enter into a business relationship as a result. Yes indeed, it is specifically and only the modern youths who have refused to purchase your t-shirts who are very, very poor at understanding how to build valuable and meaningful relationships with other humans. There is definitely not anybody else here who is bad at communicating.
Every single person on planet earth who is under the age of, say, 25, lacks the foresight and vision to appreciate the radically lucrative possibilities of wearing the same t-shirt every day every single place they go. Every single person who didn't buy one of your shirts did so because they are young and stupid and don't know a life-changing idea when they see one. But you do! Because you are old and smart, which are the same thing.
After all, you are great at networking and have managed to do incredible things as a result of your great networking skills, such as running six networking groups. If that's not proof positive that networking works, what is?
The only way to know for sure whether your shirts will help poor communicators understand exactly how bad they are at connecting with others may be to try your product out for yourself.

How do we Boycott Correctly?
( transcript of BDS video made by Abdallah Denwar + ressources)
We can split the products we're boycotting into 4 categories:
A. Products made in Israel: Most of them are not distributed in the Arab region but activists in the West have begun to talk about them and raise awareness on the necessity of boycotting them. (including: Ahava cosmetics, Sabra Hummus, SodaStream...etc.)
B. Products that enable the Occupation: Carrefour is involved in real estate projects within the settlements, HP provides technologies and software systems that facilitate the monitoring and suppression of Palestinians in and outside prisons. CATerpillar designed bulldozers dedicated to the occupations which contributed to the demolition of Palestinians' infrastructure and demolish their homes and Puma is the official sponsor of the Israeli national football team.
C. Brands supporting the Israeli State: this is the most important thing we have a role in because these are the products that are directly involved in our lives. Food, drinks, skincare perfumes and so on. Cutting these products is influential because:
1) we are pressuring companies whose founders support the occupation and directly decreasing their profits.
2) we plant fear within any new companies from considering future partnerships with occupation, thus losing their credibility as a natural entity that can create successful economic relations.
3) we provide opportunities for local products to develop and increase their production.
(products including: Starbucks, McDonald's, Nestle, Coca-Cola, Papa John's, Disney+, Marks & Spencer, L'Oréal, Domino's, Maggi, Nestle...etc)
D. Events and activations by the occupation: Includes Conferences, concerts and tours of artists that take place Events and activities include art exhibits, film screenings, festival, plays, conferences, performances (music, dance, etc.), tours, among other activities.

It’s not every day you see a CEO arguing for a worse economy. But that’s what Tim Gurner, founder and CEO of Australian luxury real estate company the Gurner Group, tried to do at an Australian Financial Review conference on Tuesday.
“Employees feel the employer is extremely lucky to have them, as opposed to the other way around,” Gurner told the audience. “We’ve got to kill that attitude, and that has to come through hurting the economy,” he continued.
“We need to see pain in the economy. We need to remind people that they work for the employer, not the other way around,” he said. The real estate CEO also suggested that Australian unemployment needed to jump by as much as 50%.
Gurner also complained about “tradies”—workers who practice a trade, like electricians, plumbers and carpenters—and claimed they had “pulled back on productivity.”
Gurner’s remarks have since rocketed out of the Australian context to catch the attention of commentators around the world, including U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.).
“Major CEOs have skyrocketed their own pay so much that the ratio of CEO-to-worker pay is now at some of the highest levels *ever* recorded,” the congresswoman wrote on X, responding to a video of Gurner’s comments.
WHO IS TIM GURNER?
Gurner is the head of the Gurner Group, a real estate company founded in 2013. According to the company’s website, the firm has a development and management portfolio worth about 9.5 billion Australian dollars (or just over $6 billion). The firm primarily focuses on luxury homes and property management, but also dabbles in private social clubs, with one offering anti-aging services.
The Australian Financial Review estimates Gurner’s net worth to be $584 million.
It’s not the first time Gurner has courted controversy with his opinions.
Back in 2017, Gurner took to Australia’s “60 Minutes” news program to talk about housing affordability.
The real estate millionaire complained that poor spending habits—particularly on avocado toast and other small luxuries—were the reason why younger Australians were struggling to afford homes.
“When I was trying to buy my first home, I wasn’t buying smashed avocado for [19 Australian dollars] and four coffees at [4 Australian dollars] each,” he said.
“The people that own homes today worked very, very hard for it, saved every dollar,” while younger Australians “want to eat out every day, they want to travel to Europe every year,” he said.
In spite of his rhetoric, Gurner reportedly got help when he started out. According to the Australian Financial Review, after Gurner’s comments went viral, the real estate founder got help from his former boss and his grandfather as he was starting his business.
COMPLAINING BOSSES
Gurmen’s blunt complaints about arrogant workers may win sympathy from other business leaders.
In April, the CEO of office equipment company MillerKnoll, Andi Owen, told employees to stop worrying about bonuses in an internal meeting.
“Spend your time and your effort thinking about the $26 million we need, and not thinking about what you’re going to do if you don’t get a bonus, alright?,” she said, while also suggesting that employees “leave Pity City.”
Owen apologized for her comments after they went viral on social media. She later told Fortune CEO Alan Murray that social media allowed “a few negative people to amplify and take things out of context,” and that the experience reinforced her view of bringing people back together in person.
Then in May, Tesla CEO Elon Musk complained that workers who wanted remote work needed to “get off their goddamn moral high horse.” In an interview with CNBC, Musk argued that remote employees enjoyed unfair privileges that other workers didn’t yet. “You’re going to make people who make your food that gets delivered—they can’t work from home?” Musk asked.
Despite the loud rhetoric from some CEOs, the remote work debate between bosses and workers may be settling into a truce. Over 80% of Fortune 500 companies tracked by remote work platform Scoop are settling into a hybrid work system.
“A lot of the coverage and discussion is on the CEOs who are pushing really hard on full time in office, and there are a lot of readers interested in that,” Scoop CEO Rob Sadow tells Fortune. “But in reality, employees and employers are less far apart than it may seem.”

It was interesting to observe how, over the years, Japanese video game advertising and packaging began to display an increasing amount of its written messaging in the English language. If you inspect the average Famicom, SG-1000 or MSX game case from the 1980s, it’s probable that the only Romaji to be found is circumscribed to logotypes and little else. For reasons that can hardly be summarized, speaking English has long been considered fashionable and distinct in Japan. As the market became more competitive, companies were forced to find even the smallest edge over their rivals, leading to expanded investment in advertising. SEGA was among the first adopt the foreign language in the design of its printed materials, seemingly in an attempt to have their products exude an aura of sophistication and modernity, although with varied results. While there was certainly an effort to ensure proper spell-checking - by no means a given at the time - I deem the above examples to be quite telling of how different a time the 1990s were. At a glance, the phrasing comes across as slightly unnatural. Sentences are peculiarly placed. More importantly, the message being conveyed does not match the expectations of what large corporation would choose to print on the all-important real-estate that is a console’s cardboard box, or the face of a game disc. It is hard not to see them today as relics of inestimable value pertaining to a simpler, faraway era.

I can think of two reasons why Danneel is doing CrossRoads con in March. The first is she’s going for the same reason Jensen is: they need the money. We know networks only pay for the first ~6 episodes of a season unless the show proves to be successful, and it’s up to the production company to find the rest of the funding. And we also know that CMP has struggled to get investors since the very beginning, and there’s no way TW is getting more network funding based on how things are going (41% audience loss by episode 2? Ouch) so it’s up to CMP to finance the rest of the episodes. Considering that the prequel is CMP’s only source of potential income, the Ackles have to open up their own wallets // Mommy Ackles wallet. And not only are they hemorrhaging money on the production company front, they don’t have enough money coming in to keep up their current lifestyle. Probably should have invested the money they were given in the CMP deal in the company instead of buying a fancy car, Colorado mansion (which they’re selling/sold), and a new face for Elta. Oh wait, they spared some money for Danneel to buy the rights to some books, what great business people. I do would trust Danneel to pick future IPs to work with🙄
The majority of Jensen’s work post SPN has been guest star roles and voiceover work. Amazon is known for paying it’s actors horribly, so The Boys was not a big pay day between that and his limited screen time over the course of a short, 8 episode long season. Rust was/is a small production with a budget that couldn’t even cover proper accommodations for their crew workers. Plus, Jensen was a last minute hire to replace the original actor, who I believe left after they already started filming, meaning their limited budget was drained further by reshoots. Both jobs (TB and Rust) were to boost his status after being on the CW for decades rather than paycheck picks. If his role in Buddy Games 2 is anything like the first movie, it’s a very short cameo that he probably got paid the bare minimum for. Big Sky is probably his best post-SPN paycheck, but it’s nowhere near what he was making on SPN and doesn’t have the longevity/guarantee that SPN did. And it’s about to be over because I’ve heard rumors his character leaves/dies this season. Voiceover work is at an all time low pay wise, so he’s not getting huge paychecks for his WB animated universe work. Certainly more than voice actors by trade due to his name and relationship with the network (which is BS, they’re the ones who deserve his pay), but again not SPN money. Radio Company only makes money on merch, because artists make pennies on streaming platforms and you need tour and merch income to make money. And that profit depends on how much of his own (let’s be real, it’s not Steve’s) money on studio time and other expenses. Notice how in order to win a guitar, you first had to buy merch. Which is illegal, but that’s going to need a separate anon lol. He has the brewery, but breweries are horrible investments (I worked in the restaurant industry for years and have many friends who work in or own breweries) because the overhead is so high, you’re lucky to break even. And the pandemic has all by destroyed the hospitality industry. If he didn’t get the deal that allows him to sell his beer in stores, the brewery would have gone under. Something he alluded to at a con recently (will try to find the video + time stamps). Jenneel love to buy and sell real estate and call themselves house flippers, but they def do that just to afford their next McMansion. They aren’t making income on their real estate ventures. Jensen could have investments/businesses that aren’t public knowledge, but he’s proven to be a very poor business man over the years so he’s probably doesn’t have the same passive income that Jared (a great businessman) has.
And not only does Danneel not work so she’s not bringing in any money, she’s a major drain on resources. They have two different mortgages/household expenses (Jensen’s condo and the house Danneel and the kids live in…though gossip is the new “family” house was a major downsize) on top of paying for the kids schooling, their nannies, and their housekeeper. Plus their vacations and summer spent traveling on Danneel’s part. Both Jensen and Elta get cosmetic work done which isn’t cheap, plus all of the money she spends on “looking pretty” (hair cut, color and extensions, esthetician/dermatologist visits) and they both spend a ridiculous amount of money on clothes. Everything about them screams living beyond their means to try to keep up appearances.
And if it’s not money that’s prompting Danneel to show her face at a con, it’s certainly not fans. The last con she did was back when FBBC first launched, and she interacted with no one at NOLA con last fall. They’ll give her the praise she desires all without having to leave her home, you’ve seen how long they milk “content” from her for and how she moves them to tears just because they know she’s breathing potentially near Jensen. I think she’s going to the con because the only time she gets to be with Jensen (or more importantly, seen with him) is for work engagements. She can’t prove she’s still Mrs. Ackles through her Instagram anymore, so she had to find another avenue. Very reminiscent of back in the day when she would show up where Jensen was to force them into going public after years of being just friends with benefits.
Sorry that got so long! I really thought it would be a quick one 🫠
Absolutely, Jensen has been living above his means for a long time and you explained everything perfectly. The house flipping is something people do as is taking out "loans" on properties they own to increase their income even more. I forget the exact real estate terminology but anyone can research this. Except the Ackles are bad at it and yes, they ended up downsizing big time.
Please never apologize for long posts, I enjoy reading them and it's impossible to truly explain something without writing quite extensively because there are many aspects to factor in. Thank you for having the patience to share, I deeply appreciate it. 🥰
