Ah, "World Masterpiece Theater". One of the few anime series I used to follow. This contains many anime entries based on selected classic Western literature like "Dog of Flanders", "Anne of Green Gables" and "Tom Sawyer". Being one of the well-known anime series produced by Nippon Animation, they're popular in Europe, Middle East and Asia back then. I remember many of its entries were aired on some local TV channels in our country since 90s. I admit I didn't appreciate these kind of shows when I was a kid, probably because I was more focused on watching Western cartoons. I only looked back at it when I was an adult and boy they're good. I've seen most of its entries (local TV channel and the internet) for the past several years and I appreciate them. Too bad Nippon Animation has no interest in continuing making animations like these because they're not on demand in the anime market these days. It takes more than a miracle to see new shows for the series.

First, an overdue finish picture, because I realized I never showed it. 😂

Simple, but I was happy with it. Last week, I was told how and did it to have my preferred name and pronouns to be used at work. Like it's in the system. 🥰

Today, I finished Rascal. Took longer than I thought it would for just 54 stitches but I kept pausing too, like to make a new side blog. 😂

What a lil cutie! And speaking of cute, I haven't spammed you guys with our lil devil.

This was last week but it's rare that we have a burnt loaf. 😻 (Complete with tail tuck, you just can't tell.) A 10/10 loaf. Lucifer is doing well. I can't wait until we can afford to get him a sibling.

The third film on Fuji TV's "World Masterpiece Theater." Based on the autobiographical novel "Rascal" by American author Thomas Sterling North. A story about a boy who raises a raccoon cub he found in the forest. In Japan, the raccoons depicted in this anime were popular, and many people kept them because they thought they were cute, but as depicted in this work, these animals are naturally fierce and unsuitable for breeding. if released into the environment, it will destroy the environment. It's sad to find out that Nippon Animation decided to stop promoting less popular World Masterpiece Theater artworks in calendars and other of merchandise in favor of some entries that are popular in Japan. No wonder Nippon Animation is becoming a shadow to its former self which I admit it's sometimes understandable because their revival of WMT in 2000s almost bankrupted them.

Shame Nippon Animation seems to ignore the WMT fanbase outside Japan. How ironic is that one of the purpose of WMT was to introduce Japanese animation to the world through adapting selected classic Western literature only to be forget it.
