Poems from a book I will never write

The ever lasting, man made beauty of  Constellations

When I lay awake at night,

I think about the fact that the idea of constellations are completely man made,

The universe gave us stars and we made lines and shapes, made myths and stories,

Found beauty in things that were never intended to be beautiful,

Light glinting off trees,

Sunsets,

The people we love.

We unintentionally attach ourselves to things,

We search desperately for meaning in something so infinitely meaningless as the universe,

We create our own answers to our questions,

We fill in the blanks with useless theories and see purpose in the accidental,

I’ll draw pictures in the sky but they’ll fade with time,

Just like you and me. 

One day there will be no one left to tell our stories 

To the void,

To the inside of our cars,

To the siblings late at night,

To the schools,

And to the stars.

We go in endless circles of being addicted to finding meaning,

And addicted to the promise that everything is deeper then it appears.

Our mind are capable of making nothingness into something so irresistible.

It’s the complicated, intricate, and beautiful nothingness of human nature,

And isn’t it beautiful.
