Adieu mv - a few rammblings

a few thoughts about the Adieu mv, in particular the latter scenes, also based on captions by Specter Berlin and David Gesslbauer on their IG with shots of the new video and borrowing some quotes from various wiki pages.

Feuer Frei / religion

These are the parts i still don't really get the meaning, the crosses used in the video, like this one..

but is it a 'latin' cross, and if so, a baptismal cross?

or is it a tie-in with another Rammstein video, per this IG post

the video of 'Feuer Frei' was shot in a church also echoes the blasts of figure in the hall of 'Doppelgänger' in the Adieu video. Also, Feuer Frei shows Till with a mohawk (but he had that in more videos...if the Adieu mohawk referenced the Feuer Frei mohawk, i'm just glad Paul didn't go back to the tonsure 😊)

Death and immortality

While most hear just a 'goodbye' in Adieu, the video seems to go beyond that into the afterlife, both Specter and David have used the words 'immortals', 'live on forever' in posts. And taken like that (which i actually like a lot), it isn't 'the end' like many fear, but the continuation in the after life.

Titans

Hell / Tartarus

The scene in the 'dungeon' or 'hell' (Specter mentions 'hell of a fanbase' but also 'best fanbase ever', he doesn't mean the former as an insult 😊)

In one of the posts on IG one of them (that i can't find anymore) used the word 'Titans, and that gave me the idea that this isn't just any old hell, but Tartarus, the (Greek) mythological location where the Titans were confined after being overthrown by the Olympian gods.

The Titans were the twelve children of the primordial parents Uranus (Sky) and Gaia (Earth), with six male Titans (and six female Titans).

Originally, Tartarus was used only to confine dangers to the gods of Olympus. In later mythologies, Tartarus became a space dedicated to the imprisonment and torment of mortals who had sinned against the gods, and each punishment was unique to the condemned (best known for examples like Sisyphus who was forever forced to roll a large boulder up a hill for it to always roll back down or Tantalus who stood in a pool of water with a branch of fruit over his head but when he reached for the fruit or bent down for the water it would retract so he couldn't reach it).

That last bit imo is reflected in Rammstein imprisoned in a cage that seems like their small stage, or like the cell from the Mutter video, the band and the 'Damned' headbanging for all eternity.

Interestingly in some version of the christian Bible there is also a reference to the Greek reading Tartarus as a footnote: "For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to chains of gloomy darkness to be kept until the judgment".

The Tartarus prisoners were guarded by the Hecatonchires or 'Hundred-handers', which in mythology were three monsters with 100 hands, but the 100 hands in this case might refer to the hands of the fans.

Valhalla

And what would immortality be without Valhalla (Norsk mythology)

This scene is inspired by a movie (afaik), but even if it wasn't it is very reminiscent of the idea of the Valkyries riding to select heroes to enter Valhalla. Odin would select only those fighting in battles "He should have no fear in fighting battles, his own or others, and in the process dying for the cause. It all comes down to his intentions and how he performs in his life. Another way a person can be fearless is that he would accept any circumstance and still go on. Whatever life throws at him, he will endure it and go forward."

The ceiling

Because of the mythological themes and trying to piece in something 'religious' i first thought the final image was of a religious celing painting, like Michelangelo's 'Creation of Adam', or that is was 'just a pretty picture', making use of a beautiful location. But when i looked up which painting it was, it actually makes even more sense. From the 'Grand Foyer' in the 'Palais Garnier' (also Opéra Garnier, where a lot of the video seems to have been shot) in Paris, the ceilings are illustrations to various pieces performed in the building. The rectangular painting in the center of the ceiling, that is the last shot of the video, is by artist Paul Baudry

...and is called "music" 😊

I could easily say anytime he dances or gets stuck doing the Till Hammer, but I'm gonna have to go with the "Segway Incident". It's just *chef's kiss* peak Goblin behavior🤌👌🙌 It's such a shame that it isn't documented better. Everything about it is chaotic and goofy to me 😆

Marvel / xmen were one of my special interests a teenager - every few months, the focus re awakens and just goes, " BUNNY BUNNY REMEMBER THE XMEN?!" I'm currently re making references for my mutant oc !! And I have a little fan fic in the works !!

I think starting xmen 97 re awoke my love for the xmen and wolverine/ logan !!!☺️🥺 and today !!! With the deadpool 3 trailer coming out !!! It's really hammered in the hype and love all over again - and I'm just here all giddy kicking my feet over him eeee!!!!!

Xmen is such a comfort series to me - xmen first class is one of my favourite films of all time. I don't know too much about it as my knowledge only really extends to the films and a little bit of house of x / dawn of x [comic wise!] - but it still means so much to me as a series !!!

Thought i had (because i read on some social media that the Till distancing himself from the band that Schneider mentioned, started with him taking on the 'Lindemann' project and from that got separate management, separate circle of people, separate 'bubble' (as Schneider called it)):

i often saw Emigrate and Lindemann as two similar projects, both Richard and Till taking the chance to do something that they weren't able to do with Rammstein.

Well, looking at it now, i think Emigrate actually saved Rammstein in a way (Flake even said as much in a podcast, about how Richard is so prolific and produces so many ideas, that they wouldn't fit in one band and that's what the solo project was for). Richard loves Emigrate as the 'interesting new girlfriend', but always talks about Rammstein as 'the mothership', 'the wife', 'the relationship', 'the marriage' and he has set clear boundaries for himself with Emigrate, like not playing live. Emigrate eventually took the tension off of Rammstein for him and imo that took the tension off of the others as well. After the latest Rammstein album Zeit, Richard even forgot fo mention in interviews that 'it would be the last', something he always did before 🌺

Till's things he can't do in Rammstein are the extremes, in pain, sex, darkness. The Rammstein democracy and quality control always knows exactly where to reign him in (not just in lyrics and performance (remember Schneider looking very uncomfortable when Till bashed his head against a stagelight every show in Heirate Mich?), but when they met up more often, i wouldn't be surprised if they commented on other stuff as well (there are some real meddlers in that band 🌺). It may have felt good to not be on the leash in Lindemann and i think Peter Tagtgren and him worked well together from a 'creation' point of view, but Peter probably didn't intend to put in a quality control on Till. And Till's new circle certainly wasn't into reigning him in, they only encouraged the extremes. Imo Till is very bad at setting boundaries for himself, and easily influenced when indulged (i think Paul even said as much in a making of once, in slightly different words). Ofcourse it feels nice if people don't argue with you all the time, and there are people who manage to arrange everything you come up with and make it happen...but that doesn't mean it's good for you. And when Till started mixing the two, by at a Lindemann concert showing the infamous BJ video set (either real or staged) at a Rammstein show, and everybody in his circle probably thought that was great...in hindsight that might have been a pivotal point.

It's a shame that it has come to where we are now, it probably wouldn't have happened if someone would have been able to put their foot down sooner. But with Till's people only indulging him, and the foot-put-downers at a distance... imo this was a situation waiting to happen.

Just my thoughts, but if i'm right, than i would say that where Emigrate saved Rammstein, Till's solowork almost destroyed it.

Almost, but not completely.

Because i honestly feel that the Rammstein democracy is still the best way for the 6 of them to work and shine. And I hope all 6 of them are doing their best to make it happen 🌺

(Ps. i don't mean this as an 'excuse' post in any way, we are talking about adults here, who should accept consequence for the actions they do or omit)

That's so real- our fictives tend to influence that stuff for me too, like my danganronpa AU having influences from my Junko and Makoto (villain and hero of danganronpa) headmates, but I think Sophie (from The Walten Files which is what TWF is) is the only one who's rlly made an AU of her own.

In my swap AU, basically, the order and circumstances surrounding each death are switched, and the killer is... kind of different as well. My current thought process is that William murdered Sammy- he hadn't intended to kill him, but he more or less beat him until he died from a traumatic injury- but he didn't kill any of the other kids. Instead, Henry, desperate to bring his son back, killed all the missing children. Elizabeth was still killed by Baby, but this incident was caused by the well meaning but unaware older brother Cassidy (crying child) leaving her alone in just the wrong moment and panicking and protecting himself instead of her. He later gets springlocked in Spring Bonnie. Spring Bonnie and Fredbear were actually from a totally different sister location. Michael was kind of an. extra murder on top of everything else just to take everything away from William but idk who he'd possess. Puppet maybe? Its weird creepy design feels up his alley.

The band in this AU is fronted by Baby. Freddy is a more or less scrapped character barely used for shows if at all, and as such, Susie is stuck in the back most of the time. Chica, Bonnie and Foxy make up the rest of the band, and Gabriel takes over Chica where Jeremy is Foxy and Fritz is Bonnie.)

All of this.. disaster leaves Charlie alive, and Charlie was actually childhood friends with several of those kids, including Elizabeth. She has genuinely no idea what happened to all of her friends, and has carried that with her, hoping that one day she might be able to track down Elizabeth and figure out if she's actually still alive. Which she is not, and Baby, angry at Charlie for her father's actions, really.. rubs this in. On the other hand, Cassidy is being manipulated with his own fear into being on Henry's side.

This is one of my less developed AUs (my two main aus have a RIDICULOUS amount of lore) but here it is :D

the puppet being possessed by a character thats so drastly different from the original puppet is fascinating! and mike as a murdered has me curious 👀

poor susie, but baby getting to be the face of the band is cute! does her design - or the others’ designs - change to make them mesh better with each other? shed look kinda out of place with the og’s, hell even with the toys.

charlie being alive, and seemingly taking a similar role to og mike is neat!! and cassidy being manipulated UGH i love casskdy crying child it feels very. underexplored?? i feel like i never see it. i love evan crying child and his bestie cassidy but you can pry lonely cassidy crying child who blames their dad for their death more than they do michael out of my cold dead hands

Every few months I have been having the "Oh am I actually ace?" questioning identity dilemma- and its a whole snowball of feels. N big emotions. ???

Because in theory I'm like YES PERHAPS MAYBEHAPS but even then the thought of most sexual stuff is - not that appealing- but sometimesthe attractionis there- but it'salways fleeting...-- and like in practice I'm like *frozen like a dear in headlights- nope no nope can't-*

But...

I don't think I need to have that whole dilemma anymore- ... guess I've reached a point where I'm sure of things... it hit me as a walked home after a date that yep- I'm ace... that's a thing. Absolutely definitely, a big yes.

I explained my asexuality to this person I was on a date with by saying "people are like works of art in a gallery space. People are stunning. Beautiful to look at. But I don't think I can take People home. Just like how I can't waltz up to a piece of art in a gallery space and take that home-"

I may at times feel like i'm lacking and broken- but I know these feelings are not true. I'm whole. I'm human. I'm myself.
