i have a feeling RALPH would be an acronym for something, but for the life of me i can’t come up with a good one. all i know is that phineas and ferb can come up with cooler ones than OWCA

AU where Phineas and Ferb are afraid that Perry gets lonely so they build him a robot platypus buddy and Perry and the platybot become really good friends

I don't know what to add to Ralph's character, but since he was built by the boys, I can definitely say he would be one of the purest things out there and would take an instant liking to Perry

Y E S! And I think it would go both ways, too. The boys may not know Perry's secret identity, but they know the side of him that he presents daily well enough to create the most compatible platybot Perry could possibly ask for. Like, in Swiss Family Phineas, the Perry knockoff Buford and Baljeet make did nothing but annoy Perry, but Ralph would be his best friend (after the boys ofc) by the end of the day because Phineas and Ferb put enough effort into Ralph to make sure of it.

... you know, I hadn't thought about that until right now. I think he would absolutely be able to talk, and that he'd have a great grasp on both English and platypus (and maybe a bunch of other languages idk Phineas is pretty extra he would totally do that). I think they'd hope that Ralph would be able to either translate what Perry says when he chatters (because the animal translator sure didn't) or Ralph would be able to translate what they say to Perry. Then Perry would have to explain his whole secret identity to make sure Ralph knows that he can't say anything to the boys, and Ralph, being the perfect lil boy he is, would be 100% okay with that. He'd think it's a little weird, but he'd understand that it's in the family's best interest and he would never do anything that would hurt them and lowkey he could get a job at OWCA too fbsjfbsjsj

Gosh I need a distraction rn so here's some Ralph headcanons; Buford taught him how to Fortnite dance, and has a life sized mold of him too. Ralph dabbed once and only Baljeet witnessed it; legend says it inspired Dabjeet. Isabella gave him one of her bows. Candace actually thinks Ralph is chill but good luck getting her to admit it. And Phineas and Ferb always try to introduce Ralph to their parents, but he goes home to his underground shelter each time they bring them out. I hope ye enjoyed <3

I am very interested in what the kids think Ralph is like. I’m getting mixed vibes about whether they built Ralph as a mindless pet and he’s just Super Poggers like Perry because Reasons™, or if they know he’s Super Poggers and they did that on purpose, and here is why:

Only Baljeet was able to see him dab, and yet Buford taught him entire Fortnite dances? Did everyone else miss Ralph’s dab out of sheer misfortune, or was it calculated to be a sneaky dab so none of the kids would know he’s capable of dabbing? Or was it calculated just carefully enough that Baljeet would insist he saw the dab, but no one else would see it so they wouldn’t believe it, claiming Ralph is either too classy for a dab you’re never too classy to dab, or that he wouldn’t know what a dab is? 

I don’t know if this is supposed to imply a Buford/Ralph bromance, but I choose to think it is and I am living for it. Buford never seemed to care too much about Perry (that line about wanting to bounce Perry around like a platyball in notlp comes to mind) so I love that he took one look at Ralph and he was like “yes, this is my platybot now. I love him and he is my new best friend.” Also, headcanon that Ralph and Perry have the exact same body shape so the two molds are exactly the same but Buford insisted on making Ralph his own mold anyway. Imagine seeing all this talk about Buford’s life-sized molds of all his friends without knowing that he canonically has life-sized molds of all his friends fjskdhfkjas

My new headcanon (which is basically combining your last two) is that Ralph is the only invention Candace doesn’t try to bust the boys for. She hAtEs ThAt PlAtYbOt but she refuses to risk anything happening to him because he is a baby and he doESN’T DESERVE THAT GOD DAMMIT also headcanon that if she actually did try to bust them for it, Ralph would be the only invention she would be able to show her mom

Now that I think about it, I've been comparing Ralph to Baymax all this time

I’m gonna be totally honest and say that I’ve never actually seen Big Hero 6. I’ve been telling myself I’d watch it for months and then every time I finally sit down and get ready to watch something, I always go straight to either WandaVision or Supernatural but one of these days I’ll finally get around to watching it and then this will make sense lol

Imagine if Ralph had been in AT2D; when Phineas accuses Perry of not caring for them, Ralph immediately projects a series of holographic images and recordings from his eyes that show Perry gushing about his boys

Okay first of all if we're going by the last post then Ralph probably came with Perry because he wanted to see Norm which means a) Phineas and Ferb are just vibing and then bam their two platypuses show up (which I guess is how it would go at the end of every episode anyway now that I think about it and I love that).

I wonder if they'd give Ralph any flack for this? I mean, he knew Perry was a secret agent the whole time and he's friends with the evil pharmacist's giant robot, but at the same time, Ralph never really hid anything about himself from the boys so it's not as big of a betrayal on his end.

I just stared out the car window for like 15 minutes thinking about all the cute ways this could go and I am living for it.

Option 1: It's literally just a compilation of Perry being in love with his owners. Snuggles, small helpful things like finding their shoes for them, whatever. It's just proof that Perry loves them and that he's always shown it in little ways even when he couldn't show then outright.

Option 2: It's a compilation of Perry talking about them Sometimes it's like monologues (or dialogues w Ralph?) about how much he loves them. Sometimes it's just an out-of-pocket remark about them, sometimes when they're nowhere to be seen. Maybe he even mentions once or twice that he's worried about the boys and that they're going to get in over their heads one day and someone's going to get hurt. Maybe there are, like, subtitles in the hologram? Or it's like one of those English documentaries with interviews from non-English-speakers where someone else translates what the interviewee is saying dubbed over the faint sound of the interviewee saying it in their native language

Option 3: What if Ralph showed the boys the explanation Perry gave him the first time he had to explain everything? Ralph could show them Perry's desperation and his fear over the boys finding out. Not only would Phineas and Ferb see how terrified Perry was of his job putting the boys in danger, but they'd realize Perry kept it a secret because he had to, and that telling them would result in relocation regardless of how he or anyone else felt about it. It would clear up a lot of misunderstandings that would get in the way later on in the second dimension.

I just realized that Ralph is pretty much a babyproofed Platyborg

I'm, like, 98% sure Platyborg would ditch 2D Doof and adopt Ralph on the spot because 2D Doof's mechanics may be strong, but Platyborg's paternal instincts are stronger. and then poor Ralph is so confused because he's really not a baby like yeah sure he's child-friendly and okay maybe he's only a couple weeks old but he does have the mental capacity of an adult platybot

Not sure how involved Ralph would be in hanging out with Heinz, but he'd love Norm with every fiber of his being

Ooh yes they would absolutely be best friends! Maybe Ralph would follow Perry to work one day (with Perry's permission ofc) and try to stay out of the way, and he'd bump into Norm who basically does the same thing on a daily basis, and they'd strike up a conversation while Heinz was monologuing and really hit it off. I mean, Norm is the robotic version of a man and Ralph is the robotic version of a platypus, so they kinda have that in common already. Poor Heinz would be super conflicted because on one hand, Ralph is a friend of Perry's so he should probably "hate" Ralph as much as he "hates" Perry. On the other hand, Ralph is now Norm's bestest friend in the whole wide world!!! and that should make Heinz actually not like him because what the fuck why is this robotic platypus befriending his robot? And then Ralph and Norm would start hanging out outside of DEI while Perry and Heinz are fighting because they don't really have anything else to do and why wouldn't they spend all their free time together?

Part of me thinks Ralph would be like super cool and know how to use lethal weapons because, like, he's a robot, right? And part of me thinks Ralph would be a complete imbecile when it comes to fighting because he's Phineas and Ferb's robot and they wouldn't have programmed him to fight. I choose to think that no one would have any idea whether he knew how to fight (himself included) until after he's given the weapon and he either does something super cool which Coby half-sarcastically bows to him for or he fails so incredibly badly and Coby just starts freaking dying laughing (and Perry tries not to but he absolutely laughs anyway)

I WAS LITERALLY JUST THINKING THAT! I was gonna say in the tags of my last post that he reminds me of a more domestic, less trouble-making version of Coby! Literally the only reason it's not in the tags is that I saw this ask as I was looking for the link for the first Ralph post for the other ask dhdjfhskd I wasn't expecting anyone to remember Coby because it's been so long since we've talked about him but I do keep seeing capybaras on my dash and every time I think about the fact that I would have no idea what a capybara was if it wasn't for Coby so seeing his name grace my inbox again makes me so freaking happy you don't even understand 😭
